Mahler-Scartazzini-Zyklus: Jenaer Philharmonie mit CD-Veröffentlichung

In der Spielzeit 2018.2019 startete der auch überregional vielbeachtete Zyklus der Jenaer Philharmonie und ihres Generalmusikdirektors Simon Gaudenz mit allen Mahler-Sinfonien, zu denen Andrea Lorenzo Scartazzini als Composer in Residence des Orchesters jeweils ein neues, assoziiertes Orchesterwerk schreibt. März erscheint nun die erste CD-Veröffentlichung des Zyklus, die ab diesem Zeitpunkt im Handel, auf den einschlägigen digitalen Plattformen und Musikstreaming-Diensten erhältlich ist. Die Doppel-CD enthält Mahlers Sinfonie Nr. 4 und dieser vorangestellt Scartazzinis „Incantesimo“ für Sopran und Orchester sowie die Sinfonie Nr. 5, der das Werk „Einklang“ für Orchester vorausgeht.

März, setzt die Jenaer Philharmonie im Konzertsaal den Zyklus mit Mahlers Sinfonie Nr. 6 und der Uraufführung von Scartazzinis sechster Orchesterkomposition „Omen“ fort. Herausgegeben wird die CD-Aufnahme von dem renommierten Plattenlabel Odradek, bei dem in den kommenden zwei Jahren der gesamte Mahler-Scartazzini-Zyklus erscheinen wird. Im Herbst dieses Jahres folgt das zweite Album mit dem zweiten und dritten Teil des Zyklus, im Frühjahr 2024 der sechste und siebte, ein Jahr später im Frühjahr 2025 Teil acht und neun und schließlich im Herbst 2025 eins und zehn. Simon Gaudenz ergänzt: „Wir entschlossen uns, in der Reihenfolge der Veröffentlichung sozusagen im „Zentrum“ zu beginnen und danach den Weg des Zyklus so zu gehen, dass am Schluss der große Bogen von Mahlers erster bis zur letzten Sinfonie hörbar gemacht werden kann: Das letzte Album wird Scartazzinis gesamtem eigenen Zyklus gewidmet sein, gefolgt von Mahlers Originalsatz der Zehnten, wodurch sich zum Abschluss die zeitliche Relation zwischen den beiden Komponisten umdreht – der Klang der Gegenwart öffnet die Tür in die Zukunft!“

Can we talk about how in that scene where Luz dies, she doesn’t know what to say or do — she doesn’t evensay “bye” because it’s all so sudden — and it’s all too soon before she explodes into thousands of balls of light and everything is quiet except for the quiet, somber drifting music. What’s left of her sweeps through the Isles as it Belos continues overtaking it, and the lights pass by everyone she knows: Eda and King, her classmates, Willow, Gus, Hunter and Amity, and then Camilla, who sheds a tear despite still being a puppet. Finally it ends on Eda and King’s shocked faces and the Collector so confused as they realize they can’t fix or bring her back. As the music screeches to a halt, you realize that Luz is truly gone and then you think, “Now what?”

Truly one of THE most affecting parts of the episode. I mean, have the chills just writing this.

The collector's edition for Eastward came with a fun little cd soundtrack and there's like three bonus tracks included. These bonus tracks are absolutely no where online except in-game and in this collector's cd and like, for two of them its not a huge issue for me...

But like this one track is missing and its literally my favorite track in the whole fucking game.

It's just an alternate version of "Strange Quest" that plays during gameplay but it deviates from the main track in such a blissfully emotional way that it just makes me so goddamn happy I can't explain it. The fact it's not online and no one can look it up made me sad and now I have to fix that :'D For reference I'll put the main track below that's in the official digital release, cause it's still really fantastic y'all like this soundtrack is just full of fucking bangers mate aaaaaaaaaaaaa
