I wonder if the team behind RttE based the Wingmaidens on the Bog Burglars, considering the fact that they're both a tribe made-up entirely of women only and they both have quite a low view on men except for one man, that man being Hiccup. (Or Camicazi's sole exception is Hiccup)

last I checked, the Bog-Burglar Tribe was entirely made up of woman. So unless trans woman were allowed in the tribe, Big-Boobied Bertha would have had to find another way to get an heir.

How to Train Your Dragon.
Everybody's heard of it? American films based loosely on British books. While the films and TV shows are splendid, I want to talk about the differences between the two.
Number 1) CAMICAZI!!!
Any fan of the books remembers our favourite bog-burglar, Camicazi. A girl with blonde hair who enjoyed petty stealing and insulting bad guys while defeating them. Instead, we have Astrid. Essentially the same abilities, but Camicazi has more personality.
2) Alvin the treacherous
The main villain, along with his mum. He just doesn't appear at all! I can excuse a villain change, for the plot to advance faster, but I can't excuse
3) Toothless
My poor baby common-or-garden dragon. He went from a whiny little baby that lived in Hiccup'd helmet and ate fish to a night fury, which isn't even a thing in the books!
4) Hiccup
Hiccup is ginger. This is ginger erasure.
5) Fishlegs
He is small, skinny, and has a glass bottle for an inhaler. His new dragon has three heads because his mum was cool. He wears glasses.
6) dragons
In the films, dragons are hunted. In the books, a group of kids is sent into the mountains, into a nest of dragons to steal one without waking the others. Hiccup got a lane dragon (who isn't that lame)
7) They never speak Dragonese, or have the plotline with the fury, or discuss the first row Hiccups!
8) the twins don't exist
9) they have absolutely nothing in common except Hiccup and the fact that there's dragons
10) THEY DID ALL THE ACCENTS SO WRONG!
BERK IS A SMALL ISLAND OFF SCOTLAND. WHY ARE SOME AMERICAN? AT THE BACK OF THE BOOK, COWELL SHARES THAT SHE USED TO GO ON HOLIDAY TO THAT ISLAND AND IT INSPIRED HER.
I understand that your can't fit every book into a film, but a bit of plot from any of them would br nice.

The httyd books being a foundational part of my childhood and then blowing up into a movie series with so much changed is surreal. You say Toothless I think of an asshole little green dragon who snarks at hiccup. You say Fishlegs I think of a dweeby bard with athsma and eczema. You say Astrid I think of a tiny little bog burglar who looks like this.
You say Hiccup I think of the boy who almost died due to poison but got saved by an arrow with potato juices on it, the boy who almost discovered America and got branded as a slave in the process, the boy who became King and made peace between not just humans and dragons, but vikings and other humans.
Idk man these books were buckwild but they also had a lot going on thematically and now I want to reread. Also Hiccups mom was alive the entire time and he knew it she was just off questing. Love that for her.

After last month's fracas with the stalker/hate-fic writer, I've found myself dwelling on one of their comments. Specifically, that they hated and actively wanted to punish me for writing wlw characters in relationships with men. "These characters don't belong to you!" they said... when literally the majority of them are my OCs.
And it's like...
All right. I'm writing an Alternate History story based on the idea of dropping the first How To Train Your Dragon film into Real Life History, along with some other material from the HTTYD franchise. As part of that, I adapted several things from history and the books (like the all-female Bog Burglar tribe), and made "concubine" into a gender-neutral, temporary-but-legally-acknowledged spouse, rather than "illicit sex partner". This allowed homosexual couples of either gender to take on a concubine for a period and have legally legitimate and acknowledged offspring, as well as allowing polyamorous triads/groups to legally exist.
Is it perfect? No. I've been exploring some of the issues with that setup in story. But overall, it's a far sight better than mandatory marriage and the sort of strict clannish compulsory heterosexuality that was the norm for most in that time period.
But to that person who wrote the hate-fics...
The fact that I had lesbian couples engaging in procreative sex with a man at all, a man who was effectively nothing more than a legally-acknowledged sperm donor? That I had bisexual women in a relationship with men?
That was so beyond acceptable to them that it justified writing over 30k of hatefic and gifting said hatefic to me.
And they tried to say that they're not a TERF, but what else can you call that mindset but something that's direct from Radfem ideology? (along with a heaping sense of entitlement to having themselves directly catered to in media, which is a whole other can of worms).
(That's all I have to say for now; I spent eight months waiting for the harassment to continue from this person, and now I'm just processing.)

What do you think Hiccup the younger's relationship is like with his niece and nephew, Zephyr and Nuffink? He lowkey looks like one of those fun uncle who lets the kids get away with alot of things. Also Zeph and Nuff are going to be so confused that their dad and uncle share the same first name lol 😂
Younger ADORES those kids. And he comes in a package of three, so Elder's kids not only get Uncle Hiccup, they also get Uncle Fish and Aunt Cami <3
They spoil those kids. Little Fish loves to take them on walks and naps and the kids pick up the bad habit of ankle-biting from their dear aunt Camicazi <3 And Minicup definitely lets them get away with a lot of things, using the royalty card to justify it, of course
He'll teach them dragonese, too, because these kids get to grow up around dragons!
The kids are certainly confused as to why Hiccup and Hiccup share the same name, but they call Elder "dad" anyway so it's not too life changing, lmao. If anything they're going to be mixing up the Fishlegses names! Probably have to call one "uncle Fish" and the other "uncle Legs", lmao!
