2:22 - A Ghost Story began in summer 2021 at the Noël Coward Theatre, starring Lily Allen, Julia Chan, Hadley Fraser and Jake Wood, and where it won the WhatsOnStage award for Best Play. It then transferred to the Gielgud Theatre for 10 weeks from 4 December 2021. The production there starring Stephanie Beatriz, James Buckley, Elliot Cowan and Giovanna Fletcher completed its run on 12 February 2022. For the first season at the Criterion (May - September 2022) the cast was Tom Felton, Mandip GIll, Sam Swainsbury and Beatriz Romilly. In late September Laura Whitmore, Matt Willis, Felix Scott and Tamsin Carroll took over.
The box office record-breaking run at the Lyric starring Cheryl, Jake Wood, Scott Karim, and Louise Ford, concluded its run on 23 April. The West End season at the Apollo Theatre starred Sophia Bush, Frankie Bridge, Ricky Champ, Clifford Samuel and Jaime Winstone, and set off on its UK tour in Autumn 2023 with Joe Absolom, Charlene Boyd, Nathaniel Curtis and Louisa Lytton in the cast. Current cast on the UK tour: Vera Chok (Lauren); Jay McGuiness (Ben); George Rainsford (Sam); Fiona Wade (Jenny).
2:22 is written by award-winning writer Danny Robins, creator of the hit BBC podcast The Battersea Poltergeist, and is directed by Matthew Dunster and Isabel Marr; it’s an adrenaline-filled night where secrets emerge and ghosts may or may not appear…
Danny Robins said: ‘I'm really looking forward to seeing how Dublin audiences respond to 2:22 this summer. The tour continues to be a great success and I can't think of a better place to round off the journey in 2024 than here with a brand new cast to be announced soon!'
What do you believe? And do you dare discover the truth?
“THERE’S SOMETHING IN OUR HOUSE. I HEAR IT EVERY NIGHT, AT THE SAME TIME"
Jenny believes her new home is haunted, but her husband Sam isn’t having any of it. They argue with their first dinner guests, old friend Lauren and new partner Ben. Can the dead really walk again? Belief and scepticism clash, but something feels strange and frightening, and that something is getting closer, so they’re going to stay up... until 2:22... and then they’ll know.
2:22 - A Ghost Story features set design by Anna Fleischle, costume design by Cindy Lin, lighting design by Lucy Carter, sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph Sound and illusions by Chris Fisher. Casting by Matilda James.
2:22 - A Ghost Story is produced by Tristan Baker and Charlie Parsons for Runaway Entertainment, Isobel David and Kater Gordon.  [source]

2:22 A Ghost Story — at the Criterion Theatre in the West End
Tom Felton, Mandip Gill, Beatriz Romilly, and Sam Swainsbury.
Was expecting to be seriously underwhelmed when I read the plot synopsis, but was surprised and pleased to find all my expectations exceeded. The charm lay not with the supernatural element (which, excepting the screaming scene cuts was rather muted) but instead the characterisations, interrelationships, witty one–liners and character foiling (esp. between Felton and Swainsbury's characters, their class differences etc.). It was a play that, while not complex or epic in any which way, was easy to love and enjoyable to watch.

Much Ado About Nothing, Mexican revolution style, with Beatriz Romilly as Beatrice and Matthew Needham as Benedick (Shakespeare's Globe, 2017).
(I’m afraid this marvellous show had never been filmed, yet there’s a trailer.)

Review: 2:22 A Ghost Story, Criterion Theatre
Review: @222aghoststory - much more effective for me second time around (and not just because of the Swainsbury, honest)
Against all expectations, a return visit to 2:22 A Ghost Story, now at the Criterion Theatre, is hugely effective, and not just because Sam Swainsbury is in the cast “Are you going to piss on my chips, mate?” Sometimes, there’s real value in going back to something. I wasn’t much of a fan of 2:22 A Ghost Story the first time I saw it. But an invitation to see its new cast (including the…

Oh Beatrice!
On October 9th, Beatriz Romilly came to speak to our class and it that day definitely falls on my list of highlights for this semester. She's just so brilliant, down to Earth, kind, and oh so genuine. I couldn't believe that she was actually there and I was #fangirling so hard. Throughout the class she said so many brilliant things, but I'm not the fastest writer so I wasn't able to write down everything she said that stuck out to me, but there was one statement she made that hit me like a ton of bricks and that I made sure to get down on paper. I don't remember the question that was asked, but I part of her response was this: "... it's about doing it and seeing if it works." I think this really hit me because though she may have meant it at the moment only in the context of theatre and attempting a new way of saying something or performing something, this is also a larger than life statement. All my life I've second guessed everything I do and something I still struggle with today. I'm extremely afraid of failure so that's why taking risks is a little bit harder for me. Coming here to London and committing to this program was so scary, but it's also something I've dreamt of since middle school and have known that I've always wanted to do. This semester has been filled with so many of those moments where I am scared out of mind and just want to run into my parents and arms and have them hold me like I'm their little girl again, but they're not here and I can't do that. This is all a good thing. The past couple of months I have done things that I never thought I've had the guts to do. I've read my poetry in front of crowds of 40 or so people, I've traveled to four different countries (including England and soon five, once I go to the Netherlands), I've taken risks with my writing, and have written about things that I have been so afraid to write about. I know, to some this may seem so minimal and like nothing, but that's something else I've been learning throughout this trip... it's not about some and about others, my risks don't have to compare to those of others because my life is not like others, it is MY LIFE. If something is monumental to me, that's all that matters because it is my experience and my next step in growing up to be hopefully, a good, intelligent, risk taking individual. Beatriz was so right; sometimes you can't think, you have to just do, have to just "see if it works" and if it doesn't, woops oh well. Who even cares? Because we, I have so much time and the mistakes are just my blooper reel that I'll go back to and laugh at some day. So thank you Beatriz because I don't think you know the difference you've made and the self-reflection you initiated with this simple statement.

Wow ok that was some amazing stage violence, Beatriz Romilly. Wow. I knew Joan of Arc had an excellent role in this play, but seeing it is something else altogether. I am alllllways up for seeing my favorite characters gnashing their teeth and weeping in despair.
