Hellooo
I dont wanna bother you, but would you wappen to know what that concept art of old marc was for?
Also i love your blog, makes me happy to read the tags too
Hello! Thank you so much for stopping by; I’m glad you’re enjoying this blog! :D And please, never wonder about bothering me, as I always love having a reason to go down a Moon Knight-related research rabbit hole hahaha
Nonetheless,,,,I know y’all can’t see me, so just imagine some vaguely human-shaped entity, head in hands. When I tell you I spent hours going through my posts and spinning up some increasingly bonkers boolean searches for this 🤣 and don’t get me wrong, it was absolutely a labor of love, but I’m still not entirely sure I found the exact concept art you’re referring to.
Closest thing I could find was the concept art for an aged Marc Spector in Battleworld: Secret Wars Journal (Vol. 1/2015), #1 by Luca Pizzari (which objectively I think is dope as all get out and I’m glad I found it, but I’m still not sure exactly if it’s what you’re looking for).
Tumblr media
Hope this is of some use to someone out there! Sorry if I’m off-base; I completely respect the desire to remain anonymous, so please feel free to send another ask or perhaps a DM with any more possible details or the exact image you would like to learn more about (as again, I don’t need much of a reason to keep researching Moon Knight things :D).

Billy & Teddy’s Friday of Obscurity!
Tumblr media
Battleworld - Secret Wars Journal #1
Taking place on Earth-311 part of the description for this comic reads “LADY KATE of 1602 the nefarious HAWKEYE BANDIT who robs from the rich and gives to the poor?”. This issue is a collection of two stories, the other being about mutants in ‘Egyptia’.
The story is a very short one but a little interesting if you like the Battleworld issues or just want to see Billy, Teddy, and Kate in medieval regalia. Or you want the amazing Kevin Wada cover!
Tumblr media
It’s mostly, like Avengers Fairy Tales a Robin Hood story with Kate serving as the Robin Hood trying to steal the cathedrals hidden treasures to give back to the less fortunate. Billy serves as the mage and Teddy as the knight of the story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also Billy’s magic, strangely is green in this universe, there’s also a neat nod to Flying Buttresses, and how funny of a name the architectural structure has. The groups chit chat seems to hint Teddy and Kate either grew up together in this universe or spent a long period of time together with ‘circus drifters’.
Tumblr media
There’s also a little joke about how unhelpful Kate’s dress is to hide stolen spoils under before Kate realizes it’s a trap and decides to sacrifice herself so Billy and Teddy can make it to safety.
Tumblr media
This story is actually a two parter with the next part taking place in Siege #1 with America and ‘Lady Kate’ traveling through one of America’s portals.
Overall a fun short story with some cool cover art that ultimately you could miss out on if you’re not trying to understand or track down all of the Battleworld plot threads. It is a fun read if you’re down for seeing more versions of Billy, Teddy, and Kate (though I do like Mad Hatter Teddy and March Hare Billy’s dynamic a little more).

Noir Tony lives!
So, uh, you remember how we all thought that the Tony Stark from the Marvel Noir universe was canonically dead?
To be fair to us, this was a reasonable assumption, since up until now the only appearance he made in canon other than in Iron Man Noir was during Secret Wars, in Secret Wars Journal #3:
Tumblr media
Battleworld did not treat Noir Tony well, is what I’m saying.
But anyway! Sadisticsparkle did some digging for those of us on the 616 Steve/Tony server, and it turns out that clearly Noir Tony must have come back to life after Battleworld. In the recent Spider-Man Noir miniseries by Margaret Stohl, we find that Noir Tony is alive and well.
Tumblr media
Tony is in fact living in Berlin, where he runs a cabaret and also spies on Germany for the Allies, under the assumed name “Byron Ironsides,” which is a ridiculous name and I love it.
(My wife suggested that Tony picks aliases of the form Favorite Romantic Poet + Favorite Famous Ship Name, and this is still making me laugh.)
Literally the only thing I know about the cabaret scene in Berlin is that it was Extremely Gay, so, y’know, I’m a fan. I wrote a Noir fic where he’d spent some time in Weimar Berlin cabarets as backstory, so I am very pleased that canon has caught up with me, albeit several years later.
Tumblr media
He also has an airplane and a tendency to perform ridiculous feats of derring-do. Sounds legit.
Tumblr media
Anyway! The reports of Noir Tony’s death have been greatly exaggerated! Here he is and he’s fine and is someone else going to write all the fic about Noir Tony being Extremely Gay in Berlin or do I have to do this myself?
(I have not actually read this series -- or indeed any Spidey Noir -- but it comes out in trade next month under the title Spider-Man Noir: Twilight in Babylon. An excellent holiday gift for the Noir Iron Man fan in your life!)
