This is a fixture that’s decided the title before. On a tense Monday night back in 1960, Burnley visited Maine Road to face Manchester City in the final game of the First Division season. Harry Potts’ team needed a victory to pip reigning champions Wolverhampton Wanderers to the prize, and deny Stan Cullis’s famous side a title hat-trick. Here’s how it panned out.
Brian Pilkington put Burnley in the lead after four minutes. Joe Hayes equalised for City in short order, but 20-year-old reserve winger Trevor Meredith restored Burnley’s advantage on the half hour, polishing off a ball that had pinged loose of some penalty-box nonsense. City pushed for a second equaliser, but Denis Law missed a second-half sitter and Alan Oakes shot straight at Clarets keeper Adam Blacklaw when one on one in the last minute. Burnley became champions of England for the second time! City finished 16th.

Jeff Stelling: Why is Jeff Stelling not hosting Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports today? | Football | Sport
Jeff Stelling is absent from his regular seat hosting Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports today.
Stelling, who has fronted the live score show since it began in the Nineties, was replaced by Julian Warren for this afternoon.
But don’t fret Soccer Saturday fans, Stelling is expected to be back soon.
The presenter took to social media earlier in the week to share a selfie of himself in hospital.
And while he did not give too much information away, the image showed him with an injured arm.
His caption simply read: “Ow! There’s a hand in there somewhere!”
Stelling followed it up on Friday by tweeting: “Hope you all watch @SoccerSaturday tomorrow and give Julian Warren your support. He is a lovely bloke, top broadcaster and will be brilliant. Just watch out for any Everton bias!!”
The Soccer Saturday team paid tribute to Stelling by wearing a shirt of Hartlepool United, the team he supports.
Matt Le Tissier, Paul Merson, Phil Thompson and Dion Dublin all donned the shirts after Manchester City wore t-shirts to support Aymeric Laporte when warming up for their clash with Everton last week.
Presenter Warren said: “Last weekend you may have seen that in Manchester City’s warm-up, the players wore t-shirts to let their absent friend Aymeric Laporte know they were thinking of him.
“So today, as we warm up for kick-off, our team thought they would do the same. So Jeff, this is for you. That’s a lovely touch guys.”
And Stelling appreciated the gesture, tweeting: “Thanks to Soccer Saturday boys for their shirt tribute today. Think all of them could get into this Spurs team. Shambles. Big team talk from Poch coming up.”

My Spring Core course is intended to be a predecessor to this course. In Spring Core, I gave you a solid foundation in working with the Spring Framework. In this course, I build upon that foundation expanding your skills with the Spring Framework. The skills taught in this course are skills you will need for enterprise application development with the Spring Framework.

I start this course by showing students how to replace the traditional JPA DAO structure we created in the Spring Core, using Spring Data JPA. I continue building upon concepts learned in the Spring Core course by showing students how to use Command objects in Spring MVC and how to perform server side property validations.
Next we get into using Spring Security. I show you how to add Spring Security to our existing Spring MVC web application. We configure Spring Security to read user information from our database, and then secure URLs to authenticated users and users with specific security roles.
Aspect Oriented Programming (AOP) is a really cool programming paradigm, and its supported by the Spring Framework. In the module on AOP, I show you how to use AOP to log login activity in Spring Security. By using AOP, we don’t need to change any of the Spring Security code.
The Spring Framework has a really mature events framework we can use for application events. I show you how to create a custom application event, then how to setup an event handler to take action on specific application events.
In Spring Core and in this course, the project we’re working uses Spring Boot as its foundation. Spring Boot is doing a lot of automatic configuration for us. In the last module of this course, we will remove Spring Boot from the project. This will require us to configure all the objects and data sources being provided by Spring Boot manually. In doing so, students will gain insight into all the automation being provided by Spring Boot, and how to manage a more advanced Spring Configuration.
