The theme song is relentless, the characters are all cartoons, it's talky as all get out, the premise is dumb beyond belief, it's stupid, it's nonsensical, it's really weird...and I kind of admire it as a whole.
It's a lampooning of classic 1950's and 1960's science fiction and horror movies, made with a tongue in cheek attitude, and with the only purpose to have a laugh at the genre. It rides the line between the original "The Blob" and "Police Squad", with a heavy dose of 1980's cynicism.
It's bad by design, and if you can't get into it that's perfectly fine too. I'm all for it.
campy horror is absurdly exaggerated, low-budgeted, artificial, or affected in a usually humorous way. camp is, in a way, a rebellion: a rebellion against the growing inaccessibility of art and film by the lower class.
My choice for yesterday was the hilarious cult classic horror comedy: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Ok first off this movie was so bad it was great lmao. I'm rating this 8/10. I can't believe I'd never watched this but I laughed so many times. Too many things to name, especially since I'm about to go to bed, but I laughed throughout the entire movie. Really really bad, but it makes it hilarous.
