Aston Martin Lagonda 2-Door Coupé, 1988. To be offered at auction, DP 2034/1, the first Aston Martin Virage prototype which was disguised as a 2-door Lagonda in order to keep the styling of the Virage secret. After the Virage/Lagonda "mule" became surplus to requirements, Works Service completely rebuilt, fully finished, painted and trimmed the car and sold it to a UK collector. It is to be auctioned at Bonham's Goodwood Revival auction in September
Aston Martin had never used the name Limited Edition before and first used with the run out of Virages and prior to the launch of the V8 coupe.With nine un-sold chassis and Aston Martin needing a car to display for the 1994 British International Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham, the Aston Martin Limited Edition was produced.The car was very similar to the Virage, with the distinctive V front grill; five spoke alloy wheels, restyled front spoiler with fog lamps and more horsepower, by 24 bhp.All nine cars were to be Deep Jewel Green Metallic, with Special Tan leather, Beige carpets, Burr elm wood veneers and a brass plaque on the dash, with owner and Chassis Number.All cars were four speed automatic and the addition of a driver’s air bag with the first to be introduced side air bags was included.
