#Ask Groundskeeper Romaine

Note
Hey my zoroark volunteers here gardening at night and he Keeps bringing me the stuff he cleaned like weeds, rotten plants and dead plants etc for my garden is that okay with you? And if so can i bring stuff from my own garden for compost?
Professor Kryspyn: "Oh goodness! Might I just start by saying your Zororark is so well mannered, he is such a good comrade caring for things like that! I am pretty sure none of us would care at all in fact those weeds and such are being put to good use here for the mulching, and composting for the greenhouses really. I'm sure something could be worked out with Romaine on it, I'm not too sure what she would use weeds for but maybe she would be just fine with that too!"
Groundskeeper Romaine: "Thanks Kry." *Chuckles* "But Kryspyn is correct, your Zoroark Companion has been most helpful around the gardens and green houses here on Rejuven. With his shape-shifting illusions he can get to all sorts of crevices that others might have difficulty reaching. Volunteer work is a great way to support community or facilities; I'm guessing your joining the marauder division?"
*mumbles* "I think on one of the plans was to build a Marauder HQ and Volunteer facilities on Opal Crescent. I'll need to chat with the faculty members"
"Of course, it shouldn't be a problem at all!"

WHAT WE DO? The Neverland Pokémon Rehabilitation Centre focuses on the care, the health and well-being of Pokémon who’ve been mistreated, misused, and/or badly injured due to human causes. Our work is divided into Six Divisions, but we all are responsible for the health, nutrition and well-support of every Pokémon that comes under our care. Mostly we study and record the behavioural patterns of Pokémon to better understand their world, and to share that knowledge to help trainers build a healthier relationship with their partners.
All Six Divisions share a mutual goal, each of the staff members have different areas of expertise, which is required when you handle Pokémon eggs, Baby Pokémon in the nursery, abandoned and/or injured Pokémon of all ages, to elder Pokémon, and battle-proned/aggressive Pokémon who have become too much to handle for a simple trainer. Our Centre handles all sorts, and offers a multitude of events for the public to partake in.
The care facilities here match any Pokécentre you may come across, with available rooms for short stay rental. Unfortunately, Camping isn’t an event here as we considering our patience front and foremost, for most of our wildlife are those rescued/retrieved or wild. We also rehabilitate and rehome many species, should both parties be interested in the partnership, feel free to call or contact us for an appointment and we can discuss further from there.
All public locations are signposted, Pokémon guides frequent most locations should you become lost, and you’re free to wander the grounds in your own time. If you want to explore more of the Rejuven’s archipelago, chat with Tom and he’ll gladly give ya ride.
WHERE WE ARE – HOW TO FIND US:
Our Island archipelago is off the central equator in the southern western seas of the Kalos Region. It’s a fair distance from the mainland, and its not visible from the shoreline so it requires a bit of a boat ride to the islands. You can ferry across from Ambrette Town or Courmarine City should you not have a travel Pokémon, or of course surf/fly over at your own leisure. It’s recommended to visitors to book ahead of time whether for a visit/appointment or vacate at the Rejuven Archipelago, depending on the season before making the trip. And make sure to pack well! For the islands are mostly temperate but with a tendency for storms and cold winter nights.

Romaine, do you know of any grass types that can resist well the cold other than Snover and Abomasnow? I always wanted to take care of a Lilligant, but I fear they won't handle the mountain's cold...
Groundskeeper Romaine: "I see, I can completely understand your concerns as Lilligants are one of the trickiest Grass-type Pokémon to keep healthy. Even Veteran Trainers and first-rate gardeners alike have struggled to coax the flower on Lilligant's head into blooming and kept healthy. You usually get a week or two of perfect conditions then start to see deterioration if their care isn’t right.”
“Cold weather can be quite tolerable for most Lilligants. Though they have a fast-recovering ability from a hard freeze, it is better to protect them, especially from late spring cold. Their hardiness and toughness make them very ‌resilient. Spring frost is not a problem for them since they have the right genes. In winter, the bulbs of Lilligants harden to withstand cold temperatures, since they originate from the Unova regions which tends to have more colder seasons. During the growing season, they can sometimes be damaged severely by a heavy frost, which occurs when they have just begun growing. ‌The risk of freezing weather during the late spring could pose a threat to new leaves that are more sensitive to temperature. I could on about the care and welfare of Lilligants and Petilils, but the care list routine is quite long.”
“If you’re looking for other Grass-type’s that can handle the mountain cold, might I suggest the Altai Hardy Mountain Skiddo. They produce a high wool yield that can easily be trimmed to make the comfiest sweaters, and they are a medium to small breed. They are hardy and they can resist the cold weather, which was essential for the cold nights. The wool can be black, dark brown, or grey, compared to the usual black Skiddo and light brown Gogoats have in Kalos. They also one of the easiest to raise, as long as it has sunshine and water, it doesn’t need to eat, because it can generate energy from the leaves on its back. Which in particular to these Hardy Grass-types they can produce a beautiful black tea brew – just make sure to provide a trim for those leaves every once an awhile.”

I gotta ask what has been the most dangerous Pokémon to work with
Doctor Elias: "In general, all Pokémon can dangerous to work with. I'm not saying they frightening beasts, or as harmless as a strawberry. Its the fact they all have the capability to do some damage."
"However; much like my exuberant co-worker, This is one I have been dying to share, a good little joint procedure Romaine and I have. Specifically with one of the wild Pokémon within the confines of Agate Island. Its another one of the protected islands within the Rejuven Archipelago, only this is island is for Pokémon just plain not suited for trainers, either through complete rejection of a trainer or simply having no interactions with people. The island, truthfully, is important to what we do here, and example has to be for Kryspyn who values it himself due to the chance to see how to maximize enrichment for his nursery understand key needs in the environment and what may bring joy or aid in raising a juvenile Pokémon."
"In my case I get to see how wild Pokémon function in their natural environment, I get the chance to understand more that may help me with my medical advancements thanks to Agate Island. Its a important resource to have because really this protected island is our teacher. Usually the only ones allowed on the island are Pokémon who volunteered to protect the island, and help ease any disputes of the inhabitants since Agate Island is home to Pokémon who have no desire to interact with humans."
"We do have human ranger security, but they are to remain on the outskirts away near the port sides, while the Pokémon Patrol groups handled, and did their rotations. We don't keep the line too firm on staying away, though this exception is only due to emergencies. In this case lately, Romaine and I have a joint duty on caring for a Venusaur that lives on Agate, he had a rather tough parasitic problem, and with Romaine's background not only am I able to learn from my best friend here but she can also save me from any beatings from the large Grass/Poison Type.... for you see this Venusaur was very territorial, that's the dangerous part, me attempting any check ups alone put me in heavy danger. But Romaine is tolerated, no doubt its her understanding in Grass type Pokémon, but she is only tolerated its not the safest thing to work with a grumpy wild Pokémon. but things must be done to preserve what we have here."
Groundskeeper Romaine: “We’ve come to name the loveable grumpy Venusaur, Tailson.”

Hey! I have a question. I'm aware that most ice types are weak to fighting, but how well do fighting types handle icy/snowy conditions? Specifically Falinks. I'm an avid hiker and I take my Falinks with me wherever I go, they really enjoy our adventures together! I'm planning on hiking in a very cold and snowy area next week, but I'm not too sure how well my Falinks will handle it. Any advice?
Professor Kryspyn: "Ah! yes environmental protection it's big I get that is to great importance for you to be able to go on trips like that. A lot of the time trying to see how a Pokemon, in this case your Falinks will react to countermeasures against the cold. Carrying plenty of blankets is important, and normally if one Failinks likes the blanket the rest will! really I feel like Falinks are the best for this as they can choose to huddle together most of he time and that is big to keep warm! Layers will be big I'd say see if you can also try to get them layers anything they could have on them while you are on the move would be important too especially for those little feet."
Groundskeeper Romaine: "I believe there is a store that sells little Pokemon shoes, and small bits of clothing to Pokemon for colder climates. I believe its called Snowruntwares."

7 & 17 for the Pokémon favorite asks?
Professor Fanalia: "Favourite Gym leaders? I would have to say Roark and Drayden, they are really cool people to chat with on occasion. Surprisingly they are the type of people who would lend an ear, but we don't do that often as I would like too. nonetheless we're all busy people."
"Now my top 3 favourite Pokemon? well I will be honest my top three included Garchomp, Lycanroc and Haxorus. Lucario comes close as well."
Groundskeeper Romaine: "Back in Kalos I used to hang out with Viola a lot, we went to the same school together. So I'm perfectly bias when I say that she is one of my favs."
"My top three favourites have to be Sawsbuck, Florges, and Mimikyu."

To the whole neverland team have you ever had to deal with more troublesome visitors or trainers?
Doctor Elias: "Oh several times, though rarely is it intentional in my department wise, I have been around when my friends here have had to deal with the more malicious and troublesome patrons. But with "troublesome" it's more with Pokémon in shock and stressed worried for their best friends, and I get that really it's standard procedure that's why I have my nurses but really it's human nature. I mostly handle it by trying to provide comfort in a moment of fear my nurses mostly coax the trainer away, seat them and provide comfort while others with me get on the task at hand."
Professor Kryspyn: "from where I am it's hard to say I don't get many in the main rehab center and the nursery, but my Pokémon ambassadors, I love to call them that, are trained to handle handsy future little trainers. I have had to deal with trespassing in wilds with Fanalia however, those areas are not safe for the unaccompanied because simply it's for Pokémon to live their lives without human interference. Really it's a place were we practice studying from afar. Most of the bad situations such a territorial disputes are usually ease by Pokémon security group as long as they are not dire. But those who break the rules, like managing to get to any wild reserves that are off limits without any of the professors, or attempting to kidnap are simply taken from the property, are forbidden to return. Instating that to one who broke it, is the worst most of the time it's just removal and the banning can be temporary or permanent depending on the offense really."
Professor Fanalia: "Honestly people like that are reasons why I sometimes prefer Pokémon over humans. Honestly we have a ban list and a evicted list."

Wait wait wait! What’s this about the beloved grounds keeper being mistaken for a sleeping baby pokemon by a mama charizard?
Professor Kryspyn: "Oh yes that, hehe what a moment that was. Romaine has a habit of enjoying naps, I mean she loves her job, but I certainly don't blame her when a hard working Romaine decides to find a cozy warm place to recharge for a little. I have plenty of adult Pokémon trained to handle and nurture younger Pokémon brought in or found. And well Mama my oldest most experienced Charizard had her moment! Romaine as I've noticed likes to curl up and appear all so tiny! Well she's so quiet too, and well to Mama that was a Pokémon who needs some snuggles. It was adorable, I photos of it."
Groundskeeper Romaine: *Flushes cheeks* "Y-You took photos of that!"

So to the team as a whole any ever visit galar?
Professor Kryspyn: "Oh yes! well I know we all have, with the job at least. I value understanding as many environments as I can, enrichment is huge and the closest I can get to understanding the area a Pokémon lives, the better I can get at caring for young Pokémon and their parents! At least it also allows me to reduce stress for Pokémon who may be on their way with having their future young, so when it came to Pokémon like Scorbunny it was important that I went there to learn how they live!"
Doctor Elias: "Yes, well I have been there twice. Once with the team, just to be there to see some old faces. The medical group I dabble in tend to talk about new discoveries and I went to Galar to learn from the doctors there, better that way than exclusively reading out of books in the same four walls."
Groundskeeper Romaine: "I've been there only a couple of times, mostly to learn new agriculture needs for habitats, n’ new possible feeding dishes that will help improve Pokémon dietary requirements. After all it is my job as head of the Agriculture Division to handle not only the gardens, berries and farms, but food too.”
Professor Fanalia: “As Kryspyn said, we’ve all been to Galar at least once or more depending on our jobs. In my case, aside from visiting Galar when its borders opened, I mostly had explored Galar to meet some of the locals to hopefully find some people to employ into the Marauder’s Division.”

To the lovely groundskeeper ever have to deal with some pesky bug types wanting to mess with your gardens?
Tumblr media
Groundskeeper Romaine: “I can understand your slight frustration, at the beginning of my training under my grandmother it was difficult to deal with some bug-types, but I had learned under her that there were always solutions that would favour both sides. Preferably I separate my gardens by practicality, purpose and beauty - its the same with the greenhouse. I don’t want to harm bug-type Pokémon, so I plant large circular gardens with large leaf bushes and a large tree with dense foliage. Think as a buffet for Caterpies, Wurmples, and  Sewaddles, otherwise we encourage them to live in the Forest Zone of the island. In your case if your thinking of a garden, try to make a section away from where you want to keep bug-types away from. I learnt much like a hanging bird-feeders with bird-like Pokémon, I made a hanging nectar-feeding dish works just as well. It keeps them happy and them away from parts of gardens I don’t want them wandering too.”
“Honey works also just as well, as an attracter and an distracter.” *Chuckles* “I even follow some of @prof-peach Gardening advice also! I love some of her recommendations for the colder times.”

To romaine you said you had a a flying type can’t remember the name of it who slept upside down like a noibat how’d you meet them?
Tumblr media
Groundskeeper Romaine: “Arcane my Honchkrow is the one who sleeps upside down like a noibat, and it wasn’t the first time I caught him sleeping like that. To be honest I hadn’t planned on getting a Flying type, but I met Arcane when he was a suave little Murkrow, a gentleman I should say. When I was on my journey through Kalos to a gather team, he always seemed to show up unexpectedly with a flower or a shiny item to give my Florges when she was a little Floette. It was adorable to say the least, the small Flying-Dark Type had a little crush on my Floette. The first time he showed up it was quite a surprise for both Floette and my case, usually dark types tend to be mischievous but time and time again he would bow, lifting his wing as if tilting his hat of little feathers, then offer whatever he had brought for my Floette.”
“Which really is astonishing, since Murkrows have a strong fondness for anything sparkly, and it will go as far as fighting with other Pokémon, such as Meowth or Gabite, in order to gain their stashes. Even now Arcane still offer gifts to my Florges, and she still keeps every single gift that he offers. The very first gift from Arcane was a heart scale from a Luvdisc” *Sighs* “Quite romantic don’t you agree?”

To the teams lovely doctor and groundskeeper do you two sometimes recommend aromatherapy to Pokémon with troubles relaxing with Pokémon who know well aromatherapy hope that’s a real move can’t really remember if it is all to well
Tumblr media
Groundskeeper Romaine:  “Aromatherapy, its the sort of thing you can use to really help many sorts of Pokémon relax, though choosing the right smell is important, you need to know who you are using it on, I found in some Pokémon, depending on why they are here a smell could trigger, either negative or positive responses, some it helps them relax, or even sleep, totally reduces their anxiety. Others it may make them nervous or trigger things they don't want to remember if they experienced something traumatic. Though also be careful doing this especially with Psychic Pokémon on this one, I've learned that some aromas can act as triggers for migraines, and no one is happy with one of those.” *Lifts a basket of bundles of flowers into view that was passed to her by Florges* “Flowers and plants such as Lavender, Rosemary, Chamomile, and Jasmine are good choices.”
Doctor Elias: *Scratches the back of his neck* “Yea, all those are great examples, I've learned using such things can offer a sense of safety or at least improve the area with soft, warm smells, it helps some pokemon in my care to have something that relaxes them, simply promotes a sense of healing, since some pokemon are afraid of the hospital beds its better for both me and my patient if i can gain their trust through other means. Cant blame a pokemon for blaming a tall man in a doctor's coat.

To the neverland team as a whole how did each of you come to meet your partner pokemon
Professor Fanalia: “I had met my Lucario when he was a Riolu. It was during my apprenticeship years under the professor, he had a small rehab section but it wasn’t his main focus. Riolu was one of the tiny few of Pokemon that were there for rehabilitation - I won’t get into too much detail but, Riolu was taken from his home region with a trainer who didn’t have a permit and license to care for a aura sensing Pokemon. And let’s just say Riolu wasn’t in the greatest shape. I requested to be assigned to take Riolu under my care and treatment with some guidance, he almost helped me in the beginnings of my report paper I needed to write about Pokemon enrichment and nutrients. I earned a few bruises but eventually Riolu and I began to grow close and the rest is history.”
Professor Kryspyn: “I met Mudkip when he was still in a egg. It was just when we were starting our first opening of Neverland. We checking out the perimeter to decide the zone sizes for each area, and record the local wild life that already lived there to make sure about keeping the balance. But As the circle of life goes, you tend to come across sights that are pretty sad. But Tike’s egg was abandoned and a bit damaged, from what we could conclude Tike is a runt, which leads dangerous scenarios in the wild. SO~ we did everything we could for Tike’s survival, he might be three-legged but he’s my best buddy in the world!”
Groundskeeper Romaine: “Receiving my white Flower Florges wasn’t as nearly as interesting as the professors, but I’ll would never forget our first meeting. You see, I lived with my grandmother most of my life since my parents were busy with their jobs most of the time. But my grandmother was a groundskeeper herself, so spent a lot of my life surrounded by flowers along with Grass and Fairy type Pokemon. Grandmother had a a red flower Florges who had been with all her life and they made beautiful gardens together that made all sorts of Pokemon happy with the smells of flowers… and I wanted to be able to do that too, so when I turned ten my grandmother presented me a white flower Flabébé who grew to become the Florges I love and know today.”
Doctor Elias: “I’ve always had Gallade when I was extremely young. He was a Ralts and I was only six years old, but it was tradition in my family to earn a physic or fighting type at a young age to form a strong bond. We looked after the Memorial of those fallen in the Pokemon Wars, and I was the eldest son among my siblings, expected to take the mantle but I decided to take a different route and become a doctor. So my other brothers took the mantle.”
