Maybe this is an oversimplification, I don’t want to generalize, and I really dislike “people only dislike this character because x” type of takes, but I have to say, I don’t think it’s totally a coincidence Snape and Kylo Ren look so alike and inspire very similar levels of widespread vile hatred and moral outrage from their respective fandoms. Obviously it’s not a total overlap as I’ve seen plenty of Kylo stans who are anti Snape and vice-versa, but still. I can’t help but wonder if them having very similar appearances that aren’t conventionally handsome plays a role in why their antis are so excessively hostile and unhinged in their hatred for them. Again, this is probably an oversimplification and generalization (and I don’t want to suggest *everyone* who hates Snape and/or Kylo only does so beccause of their looks), but I can’t help but notice this connection.

I am truly baffled by some of the mental gymnastics antis must go through just so they can continue to hate Ben. The “he deserved it!” argument when it comes to his horrible childhood in particular just blows my mind. Like...how? How does a BABY deserve to have his mind violated? How does a young child deserve to be thought of as monster by his parents? How does a young man deserve to be framed for something he didn’t do? Just...HOW!? Seriously. Can someone please explain the logic behind this because I cannot see it.

It’s like they think he deserved to go through that because of what he ended up becoming, because of what he ended up doing (i.e. killing Han) and I’m just...*shakes head* No. NO! First off, we don’t punish people for things things they will or will not end up doing. Secondly, Ben’s childhood trauma is what shaped him. It’s amazing that antis can’t see that.

Well anti Reylos are now tagging posts that don’t even mention Rey or Ben Solo/Kylo Ren as anti Reylo. Like I saw some posts that are only talking about Ahsoka during The Clone Wars, a time where neither Rey or Ben are even born yet as anti Reylo. I just want to know why? Do these people hate Reylo so much that they have to put it in every post even if it doesn’t make any sense.

Just participated in a poll on YouTube on picking ur fav Star Wars character outta a few villains and of course I picked Kylo. Commented that I chose him ‘cause I rlly love him (and got a heart from the YouTuber) and IMMIDIATELY got hate on how “dumb” I am ‘cause he’s “just a bad Vader-ripoff” and I was just like “bro u really decided to spent a certain amount of ur lifetime on writing this lmfao”

Both Alan Rickman (may he rest in peace) and Adam Driver are amazing!

I also don’t go after fans who write AUs where these characters aren’t shitty and abusive. (fans are allowed to do what they want. I just avoid the shit I don’t like, and everyone should)

Yeah, I’ve heard this bullshit from Antis before and frankly, it’s a ludicrous charge. As hard as it is to for Antis to comprehend because they operate on a puritanical moral system, Reylos ship Rey and Ben together because we like the dynamic. Their interactions are engaging to watch and they have a strong foundation of common interests and experiences from which to build a relationship upon beyond just being a force dyad. The race of the characters does not fit into the picture at all. We would have shipped Rey with Ben even if Abrams had went with Jesse Plemons instead of John Boyega for the role of Finn.

Ben gets so much attention because he’s the prodigal son of the heroes of the past trilogy and the heir apparent in a family saga. In a better narrative, his redemption and return to his family with Rey’s guidance would have been a central theme if not the very heart of the plot because that’s how family sagas work. They are stories that revolve around the trials and tribulations of a singular family. Characters outside the family only garner importance through the bonds they forge with members of the family. It’s not rocket science, guys.

Can I please stop seeing "yOu OnLy LiKe KyLe RoN bEcAuSe YoU wAnNa FuCk AdAm DrIvEr". Adam is an attractive man for sure. I'm not embarrassed in admitting I find him attractive. I don't want to fuck him. He's a stranger and a person with his own private life. For the record, I didn't start finding Adam attractive until I became invested in Kylo/Ben. All that aside, sorry you're so boring you can't understand why someone would genuinely enjoy a complex, conflicted character with a compelling backstory. I'm sorry you can't see why a person would want to see a satisfying journey and ending that acknowledges character growth and makes narrative sense. I'm sorry you can't comprehend how a person might relate to depictions of abuse, trauma, and loneliness, and seek out stories with themes of hope and redemption. I'm sorry that you can't think beyond black & white narratives and don't understand how fiction works. I'm sorry such a character is lost on you. I'm sorry you spend all your time bitching that other people like said character. And lastly, I'm sorry for your attitude, that thinks shaming women for harmlessly fantasizing about a fictional character also invalidates all their opinions and emotional investment in that character. You don't deserve Kylo Ren or Ben Solo, but I do. 🤷‍♀️
