⇢ Day 4: CoffeeShop AU
Tumblr media
Misfortune— it happens at an unexpected time, event, and place. Whether you find yourself having a good day or moment or already in a tight spot, that bastard comes right in to double the penetration to your problems.
For instance, you were just finishing up your daily chores such as going to the grocery to fill in your empty fridge back home. It was all fine, there weren't much people, the line was short, the cashier was kind and patient as you counted your coins frantically. It was all fine.
And then the weather decided to be a bitch.
It started as a hot sunny day and suddenly as afternoon light peaks in the midst of your way home it started to pour. You didn't mind at first and luckily came in prepared with an umbrella and walked while humming a tune in your head peacefully. It was all alright, enjoying the cold weather and water spraying on your face like a child, that was until clouds started clashing to one another, delivering a loud roar from above that made your feet tumble a little on the ground.
You hated it.
On the corner of a building you ran and knelt down, one hand on your dominant ear, the one that was more sensitive to sound and the other having to deal with your shoulder pathetically protecting it. You searched desperately inside your bag, looking for that clear case of your that held two earplugs your mother had given you from her father. But none, you could've sworn you had two pairs of those. One for travel and one for home.
"Ah fuck, I broke them last month."
Raining season was occuring, of course you were using those earplugs before and more often. But the more it stretched when you pulled it out from your ear, it sadly broke. And the ones that were strong and still in good piece were at home.
The pounding from your heart didn't stop with your knees wobbling from your poor position and fear. Getting home was a bit hard with the down pour. Worse was the flashing lights above and the roars of thunder. You'd be down on your knees and you wouldn't even be close home.
You panted a bit, flinching ever so suddenly at the rain ever second, predicting the possibility of a next round of thunder. Keeping your head lowered, you saw your bag lit up brightly inside. Hope flickered inside of you a little when you fished it out quickly and saw the ID message.
Akaashi:
Are you okay?
Where are you?
Do you have your earplugs?
3:33 PM
You teared up a bit in fear and touched by his concern. You only had a few people understand this phobia of yours. Some may say it was childish to fear a simple weather, that was messed up and still made you self conscious. But you were happy and comforted to have your lover tend to this fear of yours. He would always call you if ever and play a tune in the background loudly to distract you and spam you with messages.
You:
I went out to pick groceries.
I don't have.
I'm far.
3:37 PM
You screamed, but was muffled by the flash of lightning and stomping thunder. You knew your messages had few contexts, but you couldn't anymore. After counting a few seconds, you thanked yourself you only had a few things from the store and picked it up and began sprinting in the rain. Not caring how soaked you were getting and how people just stared at you in worry. You ran, praying to reach home. But even so, there were small rumbles above and it still shakens you.
Eventually, you reached a near cafe that had stairs below. It was that cafe where Akaashi and you would study back in the days when you both were in your third years in high school. It looked small since it was placed below, (like the mclarens pub) but the interior was pleasing and welcoming.
You grabbed on the railings of the stairs and carefully but quickly went down, entering the door with the small bell ringing from above. The air condition blasting throughout the cafe, your dhirt beginning to stick to your skin as you hugged your chest with one arm and hunched a bit to look like you were just freezing. Atleast the counter was empty, must be behind the other door preparing. Not many people bothered to look at the door which gave you opportunity to run to your usual spot. Beaming a little at the sight if it being empty and sat down, placing the grocery bag on the table along with your bag and sighing.
The rumbles can be heard, but not as loud as it was outside. Thighs pressed together close and arms wrapping around your cold body, you decided to wait until everything was clear. Even if it meant getting sick and looking disheveled on the corner.
This was yours and Akaashi's personal spot during study sessions. Even dating, this was where you'd celebrate occasionally. It was no surprise some of the employees knew you two, but apparently it seemed majority of them were out and the newbies were on duty. They would sometimes tease you when you would wait alone in your seat, or even Akaashi. Saying how adorable the two of you were and offering discounts during events like birthdays or anniversaries. They even got both your phone numbers and became close friends.
It was no surprise to have your body shivering in seconds despite distracting yourself with warm memories. You mentally cringed when you felt the eyes of a disgusting predator just a few tables in front of you rake through your soaked chest whilst hiding his smug expression behind his steaming hot beverage. It's only a matter of time that guy will walk up to you and have his way to your body with the few people around you who had their own worlds and the counter still empty.
The skies cracking sounds can be heard, louder than the rest of the thunders you've heard a while ago and made you yelp. The lights thag hung on the ceiling of the cafe flickered and buzzed as you tried to shell yourself away from everything when the lurk of anxiety crept in your chest.
Your whimpers were silent, and only you can hear them. The tears were slowly making their way to your eyes followed by the warmth and soft, dried clothing being placed on your shoulders and your left side being occupied by a larger body.
"I figured you'd be here."
Gasping and recognizing that gentle voice, immediately snuggling your soaked form on his dried and heated body, Akaashi snakes his arms around you with his hand cradling your neck along with soft hushes to soothe you.
"T-there was a m-man staring at me.."
His hold tightens, he instantly knew which one was bothering you from being obvious and casts him a dirty glare. Disgusting, he thought inside of his head, not breaking the stare down until the guy eventually gulped from the stoic male a few feet away and left the place.
He hears you whimper on his chest and moved his hand to your back, giving it occasional pats to tell you that it was okay and rubbing to tell you he was here now. You weep on his chest from both relief and embarrassment. Today had been quite tough and now the rumbles outside can be somewhat heard now.
You feel Akaashi's arm move but you didn't bother to loom at it thinking he was just moving it around for a good position. He doesn't mind the fact that you were soaking wet on his side, at that moment he needed to tend to your needs. He didn't want to be like other people to leave you hanging like this. You hear him cooe like you were a baby in his arms and just gave you warm hugs.
"It's okay, you're okay. I promise everything will be okay."
He knows the comforting lines you needed and what you did not wish to hear. He was cautious with his words seeing from the internet reminders how people don't like simple closed minded term or words given to them. He was sincere with his, and wasn't just something to comfort you temporarily.
The table in front of you both made a small thud sound. Blinking your tears away, you hear a small whisper from someone else and Akaashi's head nodding on top of yours. Raising your head a little, Akaashi looks down and presses a kiss on your forehead and smiles at you.
"I bought your favorite."
Your nose sniffles a bit from clogging that was now heated by the steam of your hot beverage, turning away from his chest, you saw your once empty table now occupied with two hot beverages and sweet chocolate chip cookies.
"You love these right? It's been long since we've gotten down here on such occasions."
It was true with him almost being gone 24/7 due to his work and you mostly taking care of the necessities when he was away, there wasn't enough time of weeks or even months to spend the day with him. It was a blessing in disguise that a bad day can make the two of you come back to the nostalgic place once again and finally have that moment where it was just the both of you.
"Wait, didn't you have work today?"
Akaashi took a note of your dampened features and placed a hand on your cheek to wipe away the tears softly.
"I told my co workers that I needed to head home immediately when I heard a loud thunder."
Looking back down then at the table filled with untouched food, you began to feel guilty to be having to pull him down from his work. You didn't expect him to actually run out of his office just to tend to your fears and comfort you. You felt like a child next to him— a spoiled one.
"I'm sorry..I'll pay you back."
He feels you try to pull away from his embrace, but as coincidence strikes again, a loud crack was heard from above, yet you still try to pull away from his hold even though you were obviously shaking in fear. He wasn't going to have this, instead of letting you go free, he yanks you back to his chest with a small sound escaping your lips from the impact and his hand firmly placed on your back.
"No you're not, I know what you're thinking and no, none of this is on you, love."
Always been quite the observer, you thought as you fought back the tingling smile on your face. You wondered how can a guy like him exist in this world and how you even managed yo make him yours and you his. Not a single negative feeling goes unnoticed by him everyday even if he was occupied by his own work and needs, he would always be looking after whats more important.
"I love you, hm? It's only natural I tend to the person I love. I'd be an ass if I just left you after what you've gave me throughout the years. It's a give-give relationship, sweetie. I just want you happy and safe."
Eyes held the most sincere look in them. You thanked the heavens and his parents for making such a beautiful human. His hands started to move around your body a bit to make you turn back around to your now warm treats. Even though you were slightly soaking, he held you none the less on his lap and presses a kiss on your cheek as you grabbed your own beverage.
It's not everyday Akaashi has gotten an opportunity to commence PDA, but there weren't much people other than the smiling woman by the counter who had given him his order. She thought it was adorable seeing you both a minute ago during comforting you.
Munching on the cookie, Akaashi took a sip on his coffee with his free hand rubbing your belly instinctively. He's grown a habit of rubbing any part of your body he can touch, knowing how you loved the skin to skin affection. The same implies to him as he secretly smiles through his cup when he feels your stomach grumble.
The day may have been bad, unexpected. But more on unexpectedly good in the end. You always believed that after a bad day, there was always going to be good. But not a day, either a week of goodness or a month. Because after sharing this day with him, the next day he had announced he was given a week off after finishing a lot of his projects.
But for now, you snuggled deeper in his hold as you blew your drink, looking up carefully to place a kiss on his jaw that made his heart flutter and him stop chewing on his own food.
A little caffeine tastes sweeter after a mishap.

 “Namiseom Island”
Around 20km further northeast of the Garden of Morning Calm is Gapyeong (which can be reached on metro trains from Seoul in under an hour), the jumping-off-point for the man-made landscapes of nearby Namiseom Island. Made internationally famous by the 2002 Korean TV drama Winter Sonata, in which its wooded landscapes featured heavily, the crescent-moon-shaped island was bought by Minn Byeong-do, a former of governor of the Bank of Korea, in 1965. Under his stewardship, the island was turned into a park and planted with many trees, including an avenue of majestic Metasequoia (redwoods). Other sections of Namiseom are planted with yellow-leafed ginkgo and cherry trees, which burst into pink and white flowers in spring. The island, which styles itself as the culturally independent Naminara Republic and has its own visa (aka the ticket to access the park), also has 20 different gardens, including one designed to attract butterflies.
Nami Island and Petite France could be the most popular tour spots for those who visit Korea from overseas. Many travelers and tourists use one of  those tour package from travel agents offering. However, there are always travelers who are willing to take their own adventure. As matter of fact, it’s considered a nuisance things to find a way to get there. Of course this way of travel is much cheaper than using travel package.
Most of Travel Agents are offering from USD 250 to 350(for 4 people group rate) for Nami Island + Petite France as private tour and about USD 35 to 50 as Seat in coach tour shuttle bus package. If you travel by your own way, this could be drop down to USD 10 or less.

Switzerland -- a snow-capped wonderland
Tumblr media
Two Traveling Lanes
Szerland High There are few places I’ve visited that rival Switzerland in raw beauty and sheer wonder. Want to walk inside an ice cave with millions of sparkling ice crystals? How about cross a suspension bridge 10,000 feet above sea level and stare into the abyss below?
Tumblr media
David and I shared a kiss at the top of the Schilthorn in Murren Surely you’d want to scramble up a waterfall inside a mountain to see and hear the roar of 5,000 gallons per second cascading into a bottomless pit mere feet in front of you? How about soaring in a rotating gondola high above snow-capped mountains, enjoying a 360-degree view as steep rock faces and deep crevasses open up below your feet? In just two weeks, we lived and breathed the beauty and culture of Switzerland, from the German-influenced regions in the north to the French and Italian regions west and south. While it truly was a feast for the eyes, we soaked up so much more than the country’s magical scenery in those short 14 days. Live like the Swiss
Tumblr media
Ok, I was a little bit excited about reaching the top of this particular mountain. Being surrounded on all sides by incredible beauty is a bucket list moment, for sure. We learned to love cheese and muesli at breakfast, conversed with locals about American politics, marveled at the flowers in nearly every window and came to appreciate the transportation genius of the country. We felt like we belonged there, hopping easily on and off trains and navigating 10-syllable addresses with ease. We rode in swinging chair lifts, cable cars, gondolas, funiculars (railways that travel almost straight up), electric cog railways, trains, buses and one luxury bus. We soared past mountains of staggering heights, walked through alpine valleys thick with yellow globe flowers and smelled the crisp, fresh air in between. All the while, grasshoppers and cricked played their soulful melody, trumpeting the arrival of summer in a country more known for its winter wonderland than kelly green pastures. Use our two-week itinerary With a little advance planning and our fool-proof itinerary you, too, can feel like a part of Switzerland for two weeks, whether you choose to visit in the summer like us, or opt for skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. It’ll cost you a lot less than hiring a travel planner or tour company, too. If you have fewer days to visit, simply omit a stop or two. If we can do it, you can, too! We traveled to Switzerland in June 2016 with our youngest son and daughter, college students at the time. We told them it’d be our last big trip together as a family and started planning where we'd go. In a world full of possibilities, Switzerland got more nods than any other location for three big reasons: it’s overseas, vastly different from our Florida home and full of natural and man made attractions.
Tumblr media
The views from our bus, traveling from Lugano to St. Moritz, were fabulous What’s not to like about snow in June? Indeed, our children were perhaps the only kids in their college classes that year to go sledding down a mountain near Europe's highest altitude railway. They were perhaps the only ones to walk along the sheer cliffs of a snowy mountain so high, it evoked a fear of heights in David. And our daughter was perhaps the only senior in her class to almost careen over the edge of the Alps on her foot scooter, causing major road rash but, thankfully, no broken bones or head trauma. But more about that late-vacation tragedy later. Download the train app The trip started uneventfully enough, with a long plane ride from Miami to Zurich and an earnest effort to learn the country's train system. David and I had planned the two-week odyssey on our own, using advice from a few well-known travel planners and many internet sites. We wanted to see the highlights of all regions of Switzerland so we booked six hotels in diverse areas, making sure to enjoy the German, French and Italian flavors of each sector.
Tumblr media
One of many trains we rode during our two-week stay Though we saved money planning the trip ourselves, make no mistake: hotels and food in Switzerland are expensive, even by European standards. If you're not prepared to pay $25 for a modest restaurant meal, or shell out a few hundred dollars for an overnight hotel stay for four, don't bother going. Switzerland is an affluent country, and it expects you will be, too. Daughter Julie still recalls the shock of learning that Burger King at a Lucerne train station was selling hamburgers for nearly $10 apiece. Fries were extra. We downloaded a few smart phone apps detailing the country's train schedules, and used both for a few days before settling on a favorite. We liked SBB Mobile the most. It allowed us to put in a destination and be guided to the correct train station, rail platform and direction, along with showing us departure and arrival times. It took a few days but we finally got the hang of it -- with a little initial help from an employee at the Zurich train station. Three countries in one Switzerland doesn't have its own language, so each region's language and culture are influenced by its closest neighbor. We found it amusing to speak and read so many different languages in a single country. Stop signs and menus in Zurich (with a German influence) looked completely different from those in Lugano (inspired by Italy), both of which were unrecognizable in some areas of Bern (French). Most of them spoke fluent English, so communication was rarely a problem. One thing all areas had in common was the price of things. All prices were listed as CHF, or Swiss francs. Lucky for us, 1 CHF is roughly equal to $1, so we didn't have to do any math to convert to US dollars.

Since we planned to rely solely on public transportation and forego a car rental, we bought two-week Swiss Travel passes online and booked hotels, in advance, within walking distance of train stations. Hotels near train stations We found this information online and used booking.com to secure our reservations. The rail passes gave us unlimited rides on all trains except those to unique tourist attractions like Jungfraujoch Top of Europe, the highest altitude railway in Europe, and the Gornergrat in Zermatt. It offered discounts on those. Although we'd done our research thoroughly, there was always a little trepidation each time we stepped off a train, luggage-bound, headed toward a new hotel. Was it truly where we thought, or would we discover it's nowhere to be found? Luckily, we discovered all six hotels were indeed within walking distance of a train stop. We used Google maps on our smart phones to find the hotels and other attractions, although the language barrier and extremely long German names made it challenging at times. Packing light is key One time we had to find a hotel in the rain, making for some soggy luggage once we arrived. We packed only one carry-on bag each because we knew it'd be a chore to lug large suitcases from train to hotel each time. To manage our limited space, we took advantage of washing machines in hotels that had them and handled the 50-degree temperature difference between Lugano and Zurich just fine.

Motorcyclists gathered on the street of Appenzell After a night in Zurich getting our bearings, we took a train to St. Gallen and checked into Idyllhotel Appenzellerhof. It reminded me of a large, older home and was oozing with charm and friendly employees. I loved how Swiss German speech sounded like a song, with the notes and words rising and falling in a beautiful melody. We also savored with the food here, especially the traditional Swiss breakfasts. Many of our hotels offered breakfast buffets much more substantial than their American counterparts. There was usually a wide variety of hard-crusted bread, rolls and croissants with various jams and honey, muesli with fresh fruit and yogurt, potato fritters, a wide selection of cheeses and cold cuts and cereal along with juices, coffee, tea and milk. Appenzell is feast for the eyes After settling into our two-room suite we took a train to the nearby village of Appenzell, a quaint, car-free town with beautiful streets and a myriad of small

Gravesites were meticulously groomed and covered in flowers stores and boutiques. Geraniums, petunias and daisies bloomed everywhere, from window boxes of homes and stores to planters in train stations, roundabouts, bridges and cemeteries. We were especially impressed by the colorful grave sites. Awash in a sea of red, yellow and purple posies, each one looked like it could have graced the cover of a home and garden magazine. The facades of the German-inspired buildings at Appenzell are decorated with colorful paintings, making them all the more whimsical and fascinating. It was here that we got our first taste of authentic wiener schnitzel and Swiss sausages, many of which are white. It was a startling sight at first, but the unique taste and smooth texture of the St. Galler bratwurst won me over. Made of veal, pork, milk and spices, including sweet cardamom, the white bratwurst has been a staple in Switzerland since the 1400s. Of course, what better way to wash down a good sausage than local beer? We toured a small museum at the Appenzeller "Bier" brewery and enjoyed several samples of the ale. Jonathan was a month shy of his 21st birthday but was excited to learn Switzerland's minimum drinking age for beer is a mere 16. He arrived five years too late, by his estimation. Watch out for bubbly water One customary drink I never learned to swallow was carbonated water in bottles. It was hard to discern which bottles contained carbonated or "still" water, as they called it, so we mostly avoided bottled water as a result.

It was fun to revisit such famous places as the Chapel Bridge and Lion Monument, and to soak up the rich architecture and vibe of this historic city. We noticed that thousands of people had written or carved their names into the wooden hand railing at Chapel Bridge, We stayed a few miles outside town at Hotel Kreuz, near the Malters train station. Swans are everywhere in Lucerne Bavarian-style hotel with homey furnishings and a window view of an extraordinary church steeple. We rose early the second day to get in a full day at Mount Titlis, the highest peak in the region and home to a glacial paradise with thrilling cable car rides, a zip line, ice cave and suspension bridge between two peaks. Into a snowstorm

Deep inside a tunnel that goes through the solid ice glacier there was a plant visible that must be thousands of years old. It took about an hour via train to get from Lucerne to Mount Titlis, and once there we were whisked about halfway to the top in a small cable car just perfect for our family of four. Although the weather was partly overcast and drizzling, we had several clear views as we floated up the mountainside. About halfway up, we got off the small cable car and got inside a much larger, rotating gondola for the final ride to the top. Once there, we walked outside onto the glacier and into the middle of a massive

The views from the top of Mount Titlis were breathtaking. snowstorm! It was snowing so hard we couldn't see much of the distant scenery, but it was gorgeous staring down into the crevasses below while snowflakes danced around us.

Keeping a close eye on the snow We'd read about the dramatic temperature changes at Titlis and were prepared with coats, hats and gloves. After playing in the snow until our toes and fingers froze, we sought refuge inside with a cup of hot chocolate. Once warmed, we made our way to a lower level and the ice cave, its sparkling crystals and ice sculptures illuminated by soothing blue light. We opted not to ride the zip line or walk across the suspension bridge because the snow had wiped out visibility by then. We played in the snow some more and had lunch in the mountain top cafeteria before heading back for another scenic ride in a cable car. Read the full article

I need affordable insurance on my car any suggestions?
well i've been driving around for 9 months now w/out insurance. my car's a 2001 dodge neon standard model and i paid cash for it (no car note). im afraid that if im pulled over by the chp my car will get towed. im on a budget and i really need an affordable monthly premium. im 28 yrs old i got my driving license at 26 yrs old then got 2 tickets like 2 months later. one ticket was a failure to yield on a right turn w/ a red light and as a result i caused an accident but there was no bodily harm or property damage to the other driver only to my car it was totaled and i wasn't harmed. i recently was pulled over and given a speeding ticket too. what is the difference in full vs. liability insurance? i do know that liability is cheaper. which should i consider? also does anyone know of any insurance co. that don't require a huge down payment to start?and would insure my car w/out a huge monthly premium?

Auto insurance troubles. ..?
My car insurance expired on 6/19 at 12am so that same day we went to our insurance broker and purchased a new full coverage policy at 2:30 pm. They took pictures of our minivan which was in great condition. By the time the transaction was completed the time on the receipt said 2:46 PM. At exactly 4pm we were in the center lane of a 3 lane one way street and the lady on our right decided to make an illegal left turn in front of us and didn't give us enough time to stop, so we crashed. She was of course at fault but is taking her sweet time to make a statement so it has been over a week and her insurance won't take liability until she gives her statement, and now our insurance is trying to say that we weren't covered until 4:40 pm. Can our insurance do that? And the funny thing is we don't even have the details in our policy because they were supposed to mail it to us.""
""Could $5,000 cover the healthcare insurance premium for a family?""
If McCain's credit becomes reality, doesn't it seem logical that a major healthcare provider would put together an affordable health insurance package for the credit amount and market the heck out of it? Obviously, it won't have all the bells and whistles, but people would be covered. There is the issue of the tax on the premium, but it still seems like a good idea. This link was interesting - it describes both plans clearly: http://money.cnn.com/2008/03/10/news/economy/tully_healthcare.fortune/""
What insurance is best for women?
I don't currently have insurance, but I want to start going to a gynecologist to see why I'm not getting pregnant. The co-pays are horrendous, like $150 per visit w/o insurance! I cannot afford that every time I walk in, but I can afford about $80 a mo for insurance, but IDK what kind or which to choose that will help me through the gyno visits, and possibly a fertility specialist. If anyone knows the best route for this kind of medical attention, please provide websites or names of insurance companies that apply to this. Also, I live in a small town in GA and there are NO near-by specialists or anything as such, so I'm sure to have to travel at least an hour or more to get the help I need. No, family planning centers, no women's health centers, nothing! So if there's anyway someone could give advice for that, please do. Thanks so much.""

Car Insurance Company have had my car for OVER A YEAR.?
Ok, so this is a little complicated... Oct 2008 I had a car accident. My car was written off. My car was towed to a garage and was held there while the insurance company evaluated the damage. THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I SAW MY CAR. Because the size of my excess (800) and the amount of damage matched the value of the car (800) I was advised it would be pointless to claim on the insurance and it was written off. The accident was my fault and I held my hands up and admitted it and the other party walked away with everything sorted. No suggestion of fraud and certainly nothing fraudulent on my part. Towards the end of 2008 my insurance company started falling off the radar, not returning my calls or my emails, letters etc. I repeatedly asked what I was supposed to do next (I'd never had an accident before and the whole process confused me because they kept giving me conflicting info) and where my car was. I was ignored (or given incorrect info). In the end I declared a SORN on the car and had so much going on in my personal life, I forgot about it, knowing the car was off the road. Anyway, I'm now trying to track the car down as the SORN is about to run out. Insurance company are still off the radar and refusing to answer. Now they're saying they have no record of me, my policy OR my car. So I've lost my car, I don't know who's got it and yet I'm still liable for it. What can I do? Can I get the police involved? Trading standards? ANYTHING? I don't care about the car, whoever has it can keep it! I just don't want to be liable for it! By the way, the insurance company involved is SwiftCover.com, in case anyone is thinking of going with them because they're cheap. They're cheap because they're RUBBISH.""

I have moved back to the UK after living in Italy for 30 years. Why are my car insurance quotes so high?
I passed my driving test in 1979 and received a full UK licence. After moving to Italy I had to convert to an Italian licence as I was resident there. I moved back to the UK in August, converted my licence back to a full UK and have been trying to find insurance at a reasonable price. My problem seems to be that I appear as having passed my test in August 2012 and my no claims bonus from Italy is not valid for UK insurers. First of all is this possible and do you think there's some way my driving experience and clean licence and insurance in Italy can be brought into play as I negotiate a new policy here? Should I be able to get disability?
Here is my story, I was working and slipped and fell on my side (I did file a accident report). I took pain medications to ease it and it helped relieve the pain but now it hardly does anything, if anything at all. I am like 6'4 and before the accident I weighed around 230, now I am climbing to 320??? Oh, I am 25. Oh, and I have been fighting my insurance for 5 years. I cannot exercise to lose weight because the pain in my side prevents me to do daily activities for long or if any at all. I have grown severely depressed as in that I have gained all this weight and feel disgusted with the way I look like and try to avoid any human contact or be seen because I feel disgusting with the way I look. I hope I have said all I needed to do. I just feel I cannot function as a normal person in society anymore.   TOPIC: How to Stake a Telestock Castle Nut
I get asked now and then, “Why doesn’t Windham Weaponry stake their castle nuts on?” The reason we choose not to is because many people want to upgrade some part of the stock, usually the endplate, and this requires loosening of the castle nut and removal of the stock. It’s much more difficult to do this if the castle nut is already staked on. The factory torque of our castle nuts is generally tight enough not to loosen under normal wear and tear.
But if you feel that you would like to stake your castle nut on to make sure the nut never backs off, it is very easy and takes less than 3 minutes. Here’s how:
First make sure weapon is unloaded.
Push in takedown and pivot pins and remove the upper receiver from the lower receiver.
Now with the lower on a non-marring surface, take a center punch and a hammer, and punch the end plate in the areas shown. That is what the little square cut outs are for in the castle nut:

CUSTOMER SERVICE CORNER
Cheryl Eliason, Customer Service Manager
We receive a variety of customer service related questions from our customers, and in order to better serve all of you, highlight one question each month.
This month’s question is: What are the high wear parts of an AR15 type rifle?
Answer: The items that see the most wear in an AR15 type rifle are located in the bolt carrier group and fire control group.  They are the extractor, extractor spring and insert, gas rings, ejector, ejector spring, disconnector, disconnector spring and the hammer and trigger springs. These parts see use every time the rifle is fired and will wear over time. Although these parts will be serviceable for several thousand rounds, many people replace the extractor related parts and the gas rings every 1,500 to 2,000 rounds as part of a preventative maintenance schedule. All of these items are available individually from our website and we also offer a Field Repair Kit for $34.95 that contains most of these items We also offer similar kits for .308 & 7.62×39 caliber rifles. And, our “Most Wanted Parts” Kit for AR15/M16 includes a smaller selection of those critical maintenance parts.

In 2006, I utilized a Bushmaster carbine while in a child rescue in Tajikstan, N. Afghanistan.
I was delighted when Windham opened after the move of Bushmaster. Today, I bought a Windham 5.56 M4 16″ Upper to mesh with a lower I have. I purchased it from Machine Gun Tours in Colorado.
Needless to say, I am delighted. I thank you for the quality and durability of the product! It meshes perfectly with my lower and shoots beautifully! Very accurate. There were many other uppers available but I was set on a Windham.

What is Normalcy Bias?
Normalcy Bias is a state of mind that is common in our society. For every day that you live your life not touched by violence it takes you longer to identify and react to a violent situation. Identifying a potential risk or threat to your safety is called situational awareness. Once you identify the risk your training will give you the skills and you will commit to action instead of panicking in fear.
All of our instructors have real world experience carrying and handling firearms in stressful and sometimes chaotic situations. We offer a wide range of courses to build and master skills. Visit our website to view our courses and training schedule.

How to Visit Paris on a College Budget
Whether you’re a student studying abroad, or simply an avid TPG reader who’s taken advantage of one of those amazing fare sales to Europe we’ve been seeing recently, Paris is a hot destination. Between the flights, hotels and transportation around the city — oh, and don’t forget the food and drinks — costs can add up pretty quickly. Here, I’ll share several tricks I used while I was studying in Paris for 10 weeks that helped me make sure I was able to do everything I wanted without breaking the bank, as well as a few places that are definitely worth your money.
Start Saving as Soon as You Arrive in Paris
Paris has one of the most thorough subway systems of any major city. 16 Metro lines connect to five RER commuter lines and nine light-rail tram lines, making every block of the city easily accessible via public transit. The paper tickets you can buy at any station are easy to lose and confusingly priced, but if you plan ahead and order a Navigo Pass, you’ll watch your savings rack up — you can put an unlimited one-week pass on this plastic, chip-enabled card for just 22.15 euros (~$23). As a point of comparison, my friend who didn’t have a Navigo Pass spent more than 40 euros (~$42) on Metro tickets over the course of the five days he was there. Just don’t forget that trains stop running around 1:00am, so make sure you have a plan to get home if you’re staying out late, or else you’ll end up emptying your wallet for a cab! And if you do use the paper tickets, don’t toss them out once you’re past the turnstiles — some stations require you to use them to leave as well as enter.
With 30 lines to choose from, you’ll find zipping around Paris to be quite convenient. Image courtesy of the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens.
Meet the Store That Made Coming Back to the US Nearly Impossible
Fancy meals are fun, and you should take every opportunity to try the exquisite Parisian cuisine. But that doesn’t mean you need to spend big every time you get hungry. Enter Lidl, the German grocery chain that turned into my second home during my study-abroad program in Paris. The ability to buy a week’s worth of groceries for the equivalent of $25 was amazing, but I was usually content to pick up a fresh baguette and a few pastries for about 50 cents each, maybe a one-euro (~$1) bottle of wine and call it a day. It gets the job done, and you’ll learn pretty quickly that there’s no such thing as bad bread in Paris.
Stay tuned: European discount grocery chain Lidl is set to open its first US location in 2018. Let’s just pray they bring the baguettes with them. Image courtesy of Shutterstock.
Why Spend $50 on a Steak When You Can Spend $20 for Two?
People give me a funny look when I tell them that my favorite steak place in the world is a Parisian chain restaurant with only one item on the menu, steak frites. But how much do I love Le Relais de l’Entrecote? Enough that I went back to Paris this summer just for a steak — or at least that’s what I told my waitress. Sometimes the best food is the simplest. You walk in, sit down and the server will simply ask you how you want it cooked. There are no menus to distract you, just a wine list — I highly recommend the Relais house label — service is faster than you can imagine and they’ll break out a glorious plate of steak frites covered in a delicious green butter sauce. Wonderful, right?
Sorry to spoil the surprise, but just when you think it’s done, there’s more. Instead of clearing your empty plate, the waitress will bring out the second half of the steak that they’ve been keeping warm for you back in the kitchen. That’s right, 20 euros buys you two full steak dinners for the price of one. Want a drink after dinner? Of course you do, it’s Paris! While it may not be the cheapest place around, stop by La Coupole right across the street from Le Relais de l’Entrecote on Boulevard Montparnasse. Over the years, this bar-turned-restaurant has served as a watering hole for some of the most famous European writers and artists of all time, including Albert Camus, Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso and Jean-Paul Sartre, to name a few.
Meet the Green Fairy
And speaking of famous European artists… So poorly understood by those who’ve never tried it — thanks to the fact that it was long illegal in the US and much of Europe — absinthe is more readily available in Paris. While many places will tout their absinthe cocktails, it’s best experienced by itself. Only a handful of bars serve it the correct way, with a slotted spoon and sugar cube cradled under a tediously slow drip of ice water to create the perfect drink. A few blocks from the Bastille metro stop in the heart of one of the city’s best bar districts, Le Fee Verte will give you the authentic experience you deserve — you can even grab a quick dinner at any of the nearby restaurants and keep hopping around the neighborhood if you’d like. This is the perfect place to start or end your night, or else makes a great stop in the middle of it.
What do Marilyn Manson, Oscar Wilde, and Vincent van Gogh all have in common? A deep, deep, deep love of absinthe. Image courtesy of Shutterstock.
The Champ De Mars Will Entertain You for Free
I don’t blame you if you’re standing at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower thinking, “What could I possibly do to save money here?” Aside from scoring a student discount, for which you’d need either an EU passport or a Parisian student ID, there’s not much to it other than buying your ticket and going up to the top. But less than 100 feet from one of the largest tourist traps in the world is my favorite spot in the city. Grab a bottle of wine and a blanket and find a spot on the giant National Mall-like grassy field that stretches southeast from the tower (i.e., the Champ de Mars). Here’s the trick: Dozens of vendors will be wandering around selling wine and beer, and while a 10-euro (~$10) bottle of French wine might sound like a steal to an American tourist, it’s a blatant ripoff in Paris — you can stop by a Lidl store (mentioned above) before you go, or really any other grocery store, and buy 10 bottles for the same price (although if you’re going to do that, I’d suggest sharing).
I’ll take this view over the one from the top any day. Image courtesy of Shutterstock.
No Trip to Paris Would Be Complete Without a Crepe
Or a galette, if you prefer savory to sweet. While there are hundreds of stands ands carts making fresh crepes around the city, the best one I’ve ever had is from a little place housed under a small, nondescript brown awning right next to the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. (If you’ve ever studied in Paris, you’ll be familiar with this collection of international dorms that provide cheap housing to foreign students, and if you haven’t, it’s three stops on the RER B line from the Luxembourg Gardens.)
What really sets these crepes apart is the people who make them. Grab a steaming cup of spiced tea on the house while you wait for your food, and strike up a conversation. Over the 10 weeks that I was fortunate enough to live right next to this stand, I watched the owners help a man fix his bike after it was hit by a car, assist my friend in replacing his phone after it was stolen and find complete strangers places to stay during their travels throughout Europe. It’s easy to see how genuine they are, which is why when I was lucky enough to go back to Paris this summer, my first point of business off the plane — yes, at 8:00am — was a crepe there. Once you grab your food, walk back across the street and check out Parc Montsouris behind the train station. It’s an incredibly underrated patch of greenery, complete with running tracks, a beautiful pond, and plenty of space to relax and step back from the hustle and bustle of the city, if only for a minute.
Do Me a Favor, Would You?
I have a pretty convoluted relationship with the city of Paris. While my program was eye-opening in ways I’m still only beginning to understand, it also coincided with one of the worst terrorist attacks Europe has ever seen. When it was time for me to come home just a few weeks later, the city was still in a state of limbo and I didn’t know if things were going to return to normal or if fear and hatred would fill the void. And while time has done wonders to heal the physical and emotional wounds that were inflicted that day, there’s still a long way to go. So whether this is your first time visiting this magical city, or like me, it feels more like you’re going home than going on vacation, go out of your way to spread some kindness. Do a good deed, help a stranger, buy a homeless child a meal. The city needs more love, and so does the world.
