I was today years old when I learned that Jim Jinkins, the guy who created Doug,
also created Allegra’s window. One of my childhood favorites
I didn’t believe it. Then again from the looks of Rondo’s nose I could see how he was created by the same creator as Doug.

We send our condolences to the family and friends of Nickelodeon legend Janice Burgess. Not only was she the creator of Nick Jr. hit ‘The Backyardigans’ but also oversaw production of countless Nick favorites including ’Gullah Gullah Island’, ‘Blue’s Clues’ & ‘Allegra’s Window’. 🕊️

the thing about gullah gullah island is that i LOOOOVED it as a kid and watched it all the fucking time but i was also so incredibly young (it ended when i was five and premiered less than a month after i was BORN) that i remember very very little of what actually happened on it. literally all i can remember in terms of episodes is like.....an episode where the ranger character told them how to measure how far away a storm is based on thunder, or the episode where natalie goes to the supermarket and they talk about okra.

Hi friend! I just wanted to share this, since it wasn’t attached to the Blue’s Treasure Hunt post I made. (Whether you share this ask or keep this story for yourself, that’s entirely up to you. <3)
Blue’s Treasure Hunt is an old Windows 98 PC game that brings you on an adventure with Blue and her friends, playing Blue’s Clues to try and figure out what everyone’s most cherished treasures are. I played that game a lot when I was a kid…and I watched the show far more. Blue and Steve helped cheer me up a lot when I was young, and being able to participate in one of their adventures in game form was a magical experience! I’ve had the discs (because a game of that size took two whole discs of space back then!) sitting in my closet for I don’t know how long.
A conversation with a friend recently brought back those old memories…so I went digging through my old CD’s and CD-Rom’s to find that old game. It took a few hours of nitpicking and troubleshooting for me to get it to work on a Windows 11 computer, but once I did and once the familiar startup jingles played over the speaker - once Mailbox greeted my at the menu - I’ll admit I got emotional. So much nostalgia and childhood joy packed into such a simple thing.
You’re never too old to enjoy the things that brought you happiness as a kid. Never let go of the innocent wonder that kind of thing can bring you…it’s some of the best medicine in the world. 💞

Allegra and Lindi: *singing* F is for friends who do stuff together, U is for U and me, N is for anywhere and anytime at all here in Hummingbird Alley!
Rondo and Riff: *singing while trying and failing to be edgy* F is for fire that BURNS DOWN THE WHOLE TOWN, U is for uranium...BOMBS, N is for no survivors WHEN YOU-
Lindi: Guys, those things aren't what fun is all about!

Every outfit on Allegra’s Window was actually really perfect but I don’t think anything will top Reed’s shirt covered in shirts:
