2023 F1 TEAMS ⟶ 7/10 ⟶ WILLIAMS RACING
“The first thing to remember is that all the really great drivers are bastards. They might come across as nice guys, and quite often they are—until the other nice guy beats them! I don’t hold that against them—it’s the way they’re made, and what makes them great: they must win." — Sir Frank Williams, founder of Williams Racing + longest-serving team principal in F1 history

Okay okay I think I get it
This is the "Do you want to be him or be with him"formula one theory wishful envy and love based on the song Lacy by Olivia Rodrigo.
Oscar is lacy for both Logan and lando
Max is lacy for Charles
But Charles is lacy for Sainz
And sometimes Sainz is lacy for lando
George is lacy for Albon who is also lacy for Logan so Logan had too many lacies
Lewis is lacy for Nico but sometimes is backward but most times not
Lewis is also lacy for bottas but not anymore.
Webber, Vettel and Alonso are all lacy of one another its like a circle of wishful envy and love
Schumacher and Senna aren't lacy but they are the Bardot for everyone, except Oscar Bardot reincarnate to Oscar is Webber
So basically this whole grid is a circle of envy and love and reincarnate talent

Macau GP 70th Anniversary
YOU. YEAH YOU READING THIS. This is me trying to pursued you to go watch the Macau GP this weekend. This track is historic and legendary. And one of the most fun and dangerous street circuits (imo) with tight corners and varying elevations. It is still the oldest (active) street circuit that still holds F3 (+other races) and isn't part of the F1 World Championship (the other being New Zealand🤝)
Since it’s the 70th anniversary and they are holding two wholeass race weekends with a BANGER entry list this year (full list at the end of the post), so why not take a trip down memory lane and talk about some iconic races and drivers throughout the years. [LONG POST, just saying][Also, surprises underneath]
Macau Grand Prix, Guia Circuit (or Circuito da Guia)—a circuit that spans 6.120km, with different elevations over 30 meters top to bottom (in non-metric terms: 2 small pine trees, or 2 volleyball courts for all non-metric people out there👍). Top speed: 260km/h for an F3 car, which is already a handful. This circuit has had little to no changes since the beginning of its grand opening. While this track serves as a stepping stone for drivers, it remains an independent circuit and race of its own. Though still having an affiliate with the FIA.
Although the first race event began in 1954, they didn’t introduce F3 until 1983. Which they had a strong start for F3 with the likes of Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Berger, respectively taking first and third place.
youtube
A few years later; Eddie Irvine, Damon Hill, Jean Alesi also left their marks on this race track.
But the most iconic moment came in 1990. The battle of Schumacher vs Hakkinen. The beginning of their motor rivalry.
youtube
Schumi took first place while Mika unfortunately crashed out at the back of Schumi’s car.
Jenson Button (a literal child) in 1999, second place. God works hard but those mechanics work even harder
youtube
In 2003-2004, both Lewis and Nico took part, whilst Lewis took pole and they both showed great results in qualifying. Neither of them went on to podium in both years.
2005: baby Seb starting to shine through and took third at the main race, just behind Kubica
youtube
They put a baby in a fast car
2009: Daniel, Valtteri, and Jules took the challenge. Jules started near the back end of the grid but was steady racing and finished 10th. Valtteri started 4th, had the opportunity to be on podium until he got a puncture on the last lap that saw him finish fifth. Daniel-not the best start- clipped the wall and punctured his left rear, carried on a little bit more until he crashed out of the race :( can’t find any video cuz apparently no one cared enough about 2009
2011: Valtteri’s third year in a row; the previous got him third place but this one he retired the car on lap 4 due to an accident. Kmag, da Costa, Carlos participated but all in all, half the grid retired in the end.
youtube
Pre-mustache Bottas and baby redbull Carlos
Bloop! 2014: a wild baby Max appears! Boy had good results in qualifying, placing him third, but in the quali race he lost control and crashed. Main race-7th. Nick Cassidy, Nicki Latifi, Antonio Giovinazzi, Alex Palou finished 3rd, 5th, 12th and 16th. Unfortunately, Antonio Fuoco and Estie Bestie retired :(
youtube
Yes, Max did get the fastest lap
2015: Everybody’s favourite! Charles Leclerc has entered the ring. Charlie’s aggressive attack led him to second place and on that podium. Giovinazzi-4th, Lance Stroll-8th, Nick Cassidy-12th and following close behind, my boy, Alexander Albon-13th
youtube
The race was that good even FIA had to post it on their channel lol
youtube
The infamous onboard camera
2016: we see the introduction of George Russell, Landon Norris, Callum Ilott, Guanyu Zhou and Ticktum (But we’re not gonna talk about him🤭). It was an okay race, António Félix da Costa took first (came 9th in the recent WEC👏) and Nikita crashed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That year gave us baby Lando and baby George who took his first pole *surprise🎉*
2017: A fucking great racing year, Lando came second due to Habsburg and Sette Câmara crashing out in the final corner. It’s Mick’s first year, though not the best result but did manage to snatch the fastest lap 💨
youtube
2018: it was a scary ass race and I remember standing in front of the TV just watching this. Lisboa corner is famously know for a lot of accidents, Sophia Flörsch made contact with another that send her airborne and crashed into the barriers and fractured her vertebrae. Final standing: Mick-5th, Ilott-7th, Schwartzman-9th, Zhou-11th, Vesti-15th
I’m not gonna post the video, you can go look it up if you’re interested
2019: a lot more familiar faces: Richard Verschoor, Jüri Vips (yeah that one), Logan Sargeant, Callum Ilott came back for another year, Liam Lawson with his bestie Yuki Tsunoda, Enzo Fittipaldi, Max Fewtrell🫡, David Schumacher, Felipe Drugovich, Schwartzman’s second attempt and Sophia Flörsch
youtube
3 years of absence and we are back! 2023!
This year there’s two whole weekends, from 11-12th November and 16-19th November. And they’ve a banger list of drivers like Bianca Bustamante for F4 and Richard Verschoor taking another stab at it.
Macau F4 race is happening on the 11-12th:
Tumblr media
F4 is happening the week after on 16-19th
Tumblr media
The FIA is streaming F3 on the YouTube channel (streaming f3 not f4🥲…go watch motor gp too it’s on the same day) but you could probably watch it on other streaming platforms too (you know the ones👀👀)
If you haven’t seen the Macau GP before…give it a go! It’s brilliant!
*side note: if Fernando or Lewis ever retires from f1 and have nothing else to do…I’d like to see them tackle this track (again for Lewis) maybe not f3, maybe something like GT cup or something. It would be verrrry interesting👀

The 1989 Japan Grandprix debacle- Senna v/s Prost (Extention)
Before I get on with this post just remember that this post is in relation with my post on the Japan grand prix and its history (which was a post apart of my new series called "the history of" where I release posts every race week on the history of that GP.) In that post we talked about some iconic events at the Japan GP and 2 of them consisting F1 legends Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. Though I went in great detail of the event in 1988, the 1989 event was too long to describe in the post itself and simply wouldn't do justice to it so this post is an extention of that.
Now to begin with our debacle of the Japan GP in 1989
This race of 1989 was a special one for the world championship and was overall a highly anticipated race, that year there had been new regulation in place that banned turbo-charged engines (engines that make use of wasted exhaust gases to pull more air into the intake valve, thus giving the engine extra power without sacrificing fuel efficiency) and was a year where McLaren had partnered with Honda, resulting in the pair being so dominant that they had won 10 out of the 14 races so far (till the Japanese GP). It was also a year where (like the 1988 GP) Prost and Senna were once again McLaren teammates and their fued with one another had gone to such a level that there was almost 0 communication between the 2, even though they were teammates! In fact it is said that the feud had gotten so bad that McLaren was practically running 2 separate teams.
Tumblr media
Ayrton Senna (Left) and Alain Prost (Right)
By the time of the Japan GP, Prost was running 16 points ahead of Senna and if there was any chance of Senna staying in contention to win the championship that year, Suzuka was his only chance to do so.
At the Quali Senna qualified Pole position and was 1.7 seconds ahead of Prost who had already been working on his race setup in qualifying, thus while Prost opted for a setup making him faster on the straights, Senna's set up meant he was faster around the corners.
As Race day came, the 2 McLaren's were on the front row of the grid, emotions running high in both cars and at this point even both Garages, The race began with an excellent start from Prost, where he jumped into the fast first corner ahead of Senna thus taking the lead, nonetheless Senna stayed close, while the 2 McLaren's sped in front of the rest of the pack.
however on lap 46 things took a turn...
Suddenly the 2 McLaren's had collided, while Senna tried to turn past his rival in order to gain the lead of the race, Prost refused to give the position up and in turn didn't give the space required for Senna to successfully overtake. Resulting into the 2 Cars colliding and interlocking.
Because of the crash, Prost was now certain that he had won the championship and celebrated this by immediately getting out of his car. At the same time Senna waved towards a group of Suzuka track Marshalls who ran up to the 2 cars and separated them, once separated the Marshalls proceeded to give Senna a push while Senna himself bump-started the engine and drove off.
Even with this sudden collision, with Senna driving off he was now the lead in the race, showing how far the 2 had been from the rest that even with a collision he still had managed to be leading.
Throughout the race Senna drove furiously, though Alessandro Nannini did take the race lead when Senna was in the Pits, it wasn't long before the Brazilian overtook and soon passed the checkered flag... however this was not the end to this debacle.
After the race, the podium ceremony was delayed and a meeting took place with Senna, Prost, McLaren management and FIA officials to discuss whether Senna will remain on the podium itself. It was thought that Senna would be reprimanded for his actions and thus be disqualified for receiving external non-team assistance (which was against the rules.) However like every rule that ceases to exist each ones have their loophole, for this one the rule read that "if a driver deemed to be in a dangerous position, they could be push started."
However even with this loophole in place, it was deemed that Senna was to be disqualified which ended up giving the race victory to Nannini, the Brazilian driver was furious to say the least and McLaren ended up appealing the disqualification, which wasn't only denied by the FIA but Senna was also given a $100,000 fine and a six-month suspension. With this Prost had now won his 3rd drivers championship, however it was not until 2 weeks later at the Australian GP where it was confirmed.
If you want to see the race check out this video by Formula 1 that has race footage from the actual race itself... https://youtu.be/WBForKcFWoA?si=zHlr70O_kOB2jZM2
This is another video of the BBC coverage of the race incase you wanted to check it out. https://youtu.be/5zc61isHXYA?si=N83dz0DBCC96sAJY

Ayrton Senna by Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara. Illustrated by Alex G. Griffiths.
Tumblr media
Age Recommendation: Early Primary Art Style: Bright Comic Topic/ Theme: Perseverance, Motorsport, Biographic Setting: Brazil, Europe Series: Little People, Big Dreams
Rating: 4/5
This is a well-written book it introduces Senna in the most child-friendly way. Encouraging perseverance and using your talents even if it takes you away from all you knew. I do like the use of a twilight rainy scene to indicate frustration and determination to improve, rain generally symbolises sadness as is the norm. The Formula One circus is simplified nicely including the relationship between Senna and teammate/ rival Prost. There is a wonderful moment included where Senna stops to help a driver who has crashed. I'm so glad that was included. My racing nerd needed to include who the driver he saved was Érik Comas at the Belgian Grand Prix in 1992. Overall I think this is another book where I knew just a little bit too much about the subject to read it objectively.
You want to know the real reason I decided to read this one? I wanted to know how they handled that death, if at all. I know that's grim. But Senna's death was brutal, untimely and influential to both the sport and his own nephew Bruno Senna (also a racer in a couple of different categories). A couple of things about that crash too. One I only found while looking for Comas' name, fellow Brazillian racer and long time fan fave Rubens Barrichello also crashed that same weekend. His crash was included in the legal proceedings. Secondly, the aforementioned Bruno Senna was at the track watching when Ayrton crashed, if you can find him talking about it it's harrowing. I have thoughts about the impact that had on his career.
