Stitches (Part II)
(Read Part I Here! used to be We Interrupt This Broadcast... changed the name because I feel like this fits better 😅)
Fandom: Hazbin Hotel
Pairing: Ler!Rosie, Ler!OC, Lee!Alastor (strictly platonic)
Content/Trigger Warnings: tickling, very brief blood mention, medical themes (non-graphic & painless). And again, this is set right after Alastor gets his ass handed to him by Adam, so you can expect some angst (don't worry, he gets better).
If there are any trigger warnings you'd like me to add in the future (and/or to this fic), PLEASE let me know! I am always happy to oblige. 💕
This is a ticklefic! If that's not your cup of tea, kindly move along.
"Almost ready" I said. "Basically finished" I said. Sorry y'all, the Chronic Illness Fairy struck. 😅 I will say this was my favorite part to write, but also the one I'm most uncertain about... bit more angst in this installment and I'm not much of an angst writer lol... but with Rosie in the mix (especially as a ler), angst never lasts long. 🥰
Also I changed the title. Hopefully it's not confusing that way... cuz without Part 1 this fic makes zero sense 😅
One last thing... I'm so happy y'all like Trudy! Was thinking about posting a lil sketch of her at some point (I need a new insomnia project now that this fic is done 😅). I've been having a truly awful few weeks on the anxiety front, so all the positive feedback on Part I has been quite literally making my days 💕
Hope you enjoy!!
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Ooh, you stubborn little bastard. You're still gonna refuse to laugh?" Rosie mutters.
Alastor doesn't dare try to speak. All he can manage is a defiant shake of his head.
"Look, my friend. If you 'don't mind a little tickling,' and getting all giggly is your specialty…" Rosie tweaks his bottom rib, eliciting a noise that comes just short of a squeak. "What, exactly, is the problem here?"
"I'm supposed to be in control!" he grinds out through his twitching grin.
"You are in control, sir." Trudy abruptly withdraws her hands, holding them up innocently. "You can tell me to stop at any time."
Alastor cringes. He was sorta hoping no one would point that out.
"Which is why I find it so fascinating that you haven't yet." A sly smirk creeps across Rosie's face.
Oh, for fuck's sake.
"I- I'm humoring you!"
"Humoring me?" Rosie tilts her head. "My dear, I hope you're not doing this just for my sake. If you don't want Trudy to check for further injury-"
"No, I do! O-on my terms!"
"This is on your terms."
"Yes, but-"
"In fact, you insisted."
He stumbles again, before mumbling another meager, "…to humor you!"
Trudy shoots her boss a disoriented look - but Rosie, as usual, is hearing her friend loud and clear.
"Alastor." Rosie rolls her eyes, gestures for Trudy to step aside, and scoots over to place a hand on his knee. "Adam is dead. Everyone in hell thinks you're either succumbing to your wounds in some remote gutter or hiding in whatever alternate dimension you just spent the last seven years. You're not even 'on air'." She leans in. "You can drop the act for a moment, if it's what you need."
That certainly hits the mark. For the first time, Alastor's smile falters - not completely dropping, but certainly losing much of the strained quality it's had since he arrived.
"I wish I could, my dear."
Encouraged, Rosie continues. "Well, what's stopping ya? As much as I love spending time with Alastor the Radio Demon… if you wanna take this opportunity to let out whoever's underneath that effervescent grin of yours, you know we wouldn't mind."
Alastor swallows - and for the first time in a decades, Rosie finds his expression difficult to read. "Rosie, I'm afraid I can't really..."
"I mean, you've been holding that same silly show-host-smile for years! Don't tell me you've never gotten tired of it!"
"It's sewn on, Rosie."
"…What?"
He hesitates. "Let's just say today wasn't the first time I've been, ah... stitched up." As he speaks, he gestures to his toothy grin. And for once, there's not a trace of distortion in his voice.
Rosie's dark eyes go wide when she realizes what he means. The cannibal overlord just stands there for a beat, in an uncharacteristic moment of shock.
But, being Rosie, she quickly recovers. "Well, so what?"
"I'm just saying, I'm afraid I can't really drop the act."
"Nonsense! Since when has your act had anything to do with your face?" Rosie flicks her hand, as if brushing the thought aside. "Who cares if you can't show genuine Alastor. I wanna hear him."
"But my microphone..."
"You're doing just fine without it."
Once again, this attempt at reassurance only makes Alastor look more disturbed. "Th-this can't be me!"
"...Well, no. This right here sure isn't the Alastor I know. But…"
Alastor is barely listening to her anymore. His broadcast persona has been his sole identity since he was alive. Now his radio tower has been reduced to rubble, his microphone snapped clean in half, even his carefully-styled clothing left in tatters…
If this is the Genuine Alastor he's now stuck with - panicked, stuttering, weak - he can't imagine how he'll ever be able to face the rest of hell…
But these racing thoughts are once again interrupted by nails tracing up his sides. A sharp yelp cuts the air as poor Alastor just about jumps out of his skin.
"…Perhaps I can offer a little help?" Rosie suggests gently, once she has his undivided (and adorably flustered) attention. "On your terms, of course?"
Alastor just gazes back at her for a long moment. "What do you have in mind?"
"I happen to know something about you that even you can't fake."
The radio demon hesitates… before heaving a sigh and, to Rosie's surprise, giving a small nod of consent.
She breaks into a brilliant (and frankly terrifying) smile.
Before Alastor can brace himself, Rosie's hands have both found his sides and begun working into his waist. Having just watched him squirm around under Trudy's thorough probing twice (and adored every second of it), she already has a pretty good idea of where his worst spots are.
Which is made abundantly clear by Alastor's reaction. Within seconds he's gone from still trying to hold it all in by habit, to giggling into his hands, to cackling hysterically.
And it's the kind of laughter she's spent the last seven years missing. This isn't the confident, taunting chuckle he brings out for battles or brushing off rivals; this is bright, helpless, occasionally hiccuping laughter, the kind that is nearly impossible for him to stop once he starts - and the kind she only has the privilege of hearing when something truly amuses him.
"You can't sew your laughter on," Rosie reminds him. "This is all yours."
Rosie's fingers creep up under his shirt to scribble on bare tummy, adding a couple new sweet spots to her mental catalogue. This technique brings out even more of her favorite little quirks: the way he bats playfully (and completely ineffectually) at her wrists; his repeated attempts to speak around his laughter that only result in frantic spurts of incomprehensible, giggle-laced gibberish.
As she traces her nails across his lower belly she also finds a tiiiny layer of unexpected pudge. Which probably shouldn't surprise her - he's been out of the battle scene for seven years, after all. All those deer carcasses have to go somewhere.
Regardless, she finds it terribly endearing for some reason... and the surge of affection translates into a corresponding surge in the intensity of Rosie's tickles.
"AHaha! Ro- Rosie!" he blurts, his voice jumping a full octave higher than normal. "Stop!!"
Rosie removes her hands immediately. "Stop?"
"Aha- ah- well- I mean, er…" He stumbles breathlessly, and gives a sheepish cough.
"You didn't really want me to stop, did you?"
Rosie resumes with a chuckle, reeling herself in just a little. "How 'bout we say... oh... 'enough,' if you really want me to quit?"
Of course, she has to go and say it out loud.
"M-more of a reflehex..." he admits reluctantly.
Alastor tosses a shaky thumbs-up at her, already too lost in his own giggles to manage a verbal reply.
And he's gotta admit… Rosie was absolutely right. He wouldn't stop her right now for all the souls in hell. There's a reason Alastor has the most recognizable evil cackle of any other overlord. He can't help but find dissolving into laughter as cathartic and exhilarating as always - even if this time, it's not at some poor soul's misfortune. It's a result of his best friend's affection for her darling deer demon.
"As fun as getting your soft little belly is," Rosie muses, pausing to let Alastor catch his breath for a moment, "I can't help but wonder if you're ticklish anywhere else…"
Alastor may be off the air, but Rosie can practically hear the screech of microphone feedback just by the look on his face. "….I plead the fifth."
"Have you considered his ears?" Trudy pipes up shyly. While she'd managed to restrain herself behind an impeccably professional bedside manner earlier, it had taken everything in her power not to stroke Alastor's ears when she'd been close enough to do so. They were just. so. fluffy.
"Ohhh, heavens…" Alastor, for his part, curls in on himself at the mere suggestion.
Rosie grins. "Hey, 'no' is always an option."
A long pause. Alastor can't believe he's considering this. But the sensation of being tickled, as unbearable as it is, does feel awfully pleasant… and it's been so long since anyone has dared to touch him…
And what else does he have to lose at this point, anyway?
"I suppose if you're… very gentle…"
"Are you aware that your ears are the softest thing in the nine circles?"
This stipulation ends up backfiring. When it comes to his ears, gentle is worse. So, so much worse.
Poor Alastor is too busy clutching his stomach and snickering madly into his sleeve to reply.
"I should know, I work in retail. These right here-" Rosie traces her fingers down the feathery-soft edges, sending the radio demon into a new round of hysterics. "-Would fetch a pretty penny."
"They're nohot for saHA-ale!!"
"Nooo, I should say not." Rosie's hapless victim lurches back into the cushions as her fingers find the fluffy region at the base of his ears. Even without the microphone, his cackles have no problem filling the room. "You're the only demon classy enough to wear them."
"And don' you - GAHaha! - f-forget it!" He's so drunk on laughter now that he's beginning to slur his words. His careful elocution has gone the same place as his steady tone, and lack of stutter.
Luckily, he's also far too drunk on laughter to care.
...Right about there, Rosie notices that the faint hum of radio static in the air is no longer just in her head.
He is laughing his heart out for the first time in weeks. Genuinely laughing for the first time in decades. And laughing completely for himself, for his own enjoyment, without need for intimidation or control or image or audience, for the first time since long before he died.
While Trudy typically can't say much for her self-preservation instinct, she's got enough of one to feel hesitant joining her boss in tickling the most powerful overlord in hell (outside the pretense of medical intervention, at least). So she just stands back, watching fondly as The Most Dangerous Overlord This Side of the Pentagram utterly destroys the deer demon.
...At least, until she notices a flicker of green light out of the corner of her eye. Lying forgotten on the end table, the splintered ends of Alastor's microphone are sparking and crackling like live wires.
The surgeon creeps over for a closer look, staring in fascination. And then - just as Rosie gets poor Alastor behind the ears and delivers a scribble to his tummy at the same time - she ever-so-gently nudges the fractured ends closer to one another.
To her surprise, a bright green spark arcs clear across the gap. For a fraction of a second, the whole staff radiates a flash of a familiar green glow.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Keep him laughing, Rosie," Trudy murmurs over her shoulder. It appears the Radio Demon's downfall will be nothing more than an intermission.
Thanks for being so patient with me y'all! Hope it was worth the wait 💕
💜- Cozy

Hello and welcome to An Unconscious Effort!
Tumblr media
What is An Unconscious Effort?
At its heart, AUE is a story I wrote to one day be a webcomic about 4 kids being forced to navigate through the depths of the dream world, who all have their own attempts and ideas on how to establish a balance between their dreams and the real world, all while learning how to rely on others and be kinder to themselves.
The story follows 4 different POV’s.
The first quarter of the story will follow Abigail, a 14 year old girl who’s better at talking to plants than she is to people, and trying to figure out this whole ‘growing into the adult she wants to be’ thing, or whatever her mom says. Less and less people in the world have been able to report having dreams as of late, with many speculating if this could mean the start of something much bigger than themselves. So, when a mysterious entity from the dream world offers the opportunity of a lifetime for Abigail to help in reestablishing a balance between the dream world and the waking world and being apart of something that could change the lives of billions for the better, how could Abi even reject this offer?
Current status?
At the moment, the outline for this story is still being workshopped. I have 1/2 of the outline written, but still would like to go over it again once I reach the ending to probably rearrange and tweak some things before properly and officially starting to post the comic for-realsies.
There is already some beta chapters I posted to webtoon and tapas that I made while trying to get a feel for making webcomics in the first place, and while I am still proud of having made those, their quality and story is not representative of what I will be trying to create when I officially start the comic again. They were mainly made to be a learning experience at the time and I guess I did learn a lot.
Main Characters?
I’m glad you asked!! (you didn’t).
Abigail (Abi) - 14 y/o, she/her - Friendly neighborhood girlfailure who takes care of the plants.
Tumblr media
(For anyone who remembers my utdr fanart, she was the oc I turned into patience)
Prawn - 15 y/o, he/him - If he sees you sitting on a bench all alone he will sit down next to you and strike up a conversation. This is not a possibility, it is a threat. He knows your location.
Tumblr media
(Oc turned into kindness)
Marzipan (Marzi) - 16 y/o, she/her - Girlbossing her way through life, but at what cost.
Tumblr media
(Oc i hid under the cut that I had turned into justice)
Meadow - 13-15 y/o?, she/they - What a cute little deer guy! Sure hope they’re not hiding any horrors in them!
Tumblr media
(Oc that I turned into perserverance)
Whats this blog for?
Fuck if i know im bored lmao. I doubt this blog or comic will even be seen by anybody but I still sorta want to post some oc work on here and just…have some fun? Maybe organize some stuff about the comic here and post about characters sometimes. Idk I’ll figure it out I suppose
And if you’d rather see my art blog where I usually just post utdr fanart and be cringe then its @squidpedia while @squidpedias-reblogs is my rb account
If you read this far, you have bad taste but thank you

I feel like we, in the DL fandom, do not talk about how the Church organization people who send in the brides, are fucking trash as well to make a deal with Karlheinz, send in young girls who have faith in them to a bunch of sadistic 100+ year brats who torment them for sport, all for the “greater good” of humanity (ofc young women have to be sacrificed 🙄). Like, THEY should be risking themselves (they’re vampire hunters, like Seiji) for the sake of humanity, not these clueless, young girls.
Yes! I totally agree with you as much as I like portraying Yui’s childhood as something idyllic and much happier than her current state. It's undeniable the church is at partial fault for the atrocities and tragedies committed by the boys.
Now as controversial as it sounds the boys are not wrong to feed or hunt humans for blood, it makes sense for their father to set up a feeding system so there would be less disarray.
I mean it makes sense, according to the Diabolik lovers wiki page all of the demon clans can feed on blood however vampires are the only ones who gain nutrients from it.
This makes them natural predators of humans, as a race you can't expect them to starve so being sent to humans only seem as natural as humans slaughtering livestock. They are royal too, obviously, their blood supply would be of fine quality, so “pure blood” I'm assuming is healthy girls who don't eat junk food, haven’t smoked or drank or even touched drugs which is why a church is such a perfect cover. Also, I think the whole virgin thing doesn't play a part, it's probably an old wives’ vampire tale but knowing someone's dick hasn't been in your lunch probably makes it much more appetising.
Now, this under no circumstances means I'm defending the boys, I am looking at it from your average vampire’s viewpoint discarding human morality of well putting “an innocent lamb” for slaughter mentality.
But it's very apparent because both vampires and humans are intelligent creatures with free will. The silver line between a food source and an inferior race is very blurred. I will extend the difference on this another day but I'll focus on the actual church feeding system from what I've gathered; I just wanted to portray it from a different point of view for all those who rightly disagree with the sacrificial bride system.
Now don’t get me wrong if used correctly I think the sacrificial bride system is pretty great if you tweak some areas if you have a voluntary group of individuals who get paid to let the boys feed from them with full knowledge and consent of what’s going on as well as full insurance on their safety it is far more practical then no feeding system at all. What makes this feeding system even better is that it’s backed by both the vampire nobility and human hunters. Both are sides that have been at war for who knows how long and have had tremendous impacts on both sides, whether they be socio-political, or financial and physical.
See how on paper this looks like the perfect theoretical solution, but the show hints to us that there’s a lot more corruption involved.
I didn’t plan for this to become headcanons but here we go I guess:
I'm assuming Yui is not the only church girl who is kept unaware of the vampire's existence but one of the only girls who hold any relation to a vampire hunter probably plot armour.
Vampires and humans dislike each other. This is not new, they've probably been at war for centuries and whilst humans are extremely adaptable but the only reason they could reach a truce with the vampires is probably that they became a nuisance to the vampires and this would be the lesser of two evils for the church.
The funding comes from the vampires, each hunter gets as much money as the girls they send, and the girls that are sent must be of the highest quality.
Docile, sweet, easy on the eyes and most importantly with good-tasting blood.
However the war is over, and there are truces and pacts. The original hunters are replaced and hand their titles down to their eldest son and the training to prepare continues, but traditions and principles become lax, and discipline is lost.
Nepotism and corruption don’t take long to consume the system, the men bid the girls in between themselves selecting which church sends the most girls for funding.
Many smaller factions soon join under the powerful ones, you would think the church that doesn't sell as many girls would be happier no?
No.
The funding is taken away and the church is forced to give up and sell its girls to the bigger factions.
The girls are monitored closely, indoctrinates with weak morals, and made as vulnerable and trusting as possible, the not as pretty girls are given into the red light streets for spare change, and some are promoted to nuns only to take care of the new batch of girls or giving birth to them.
And the rest is history, the cycle continues. the vampires long predicted this as human nature repeats itself often.

Todays rip: 22/01/2024
Mother, Father, TechnoMan
Season 4 Episode 2 Featured on: SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips: Volume D
Ripped by vvsvlogs
youtube
Requested by @cathode-glacier!
There's something very funny about receiving a request to cover a rip I've never heard of, literally ONE DAY before it gets played live at SiIvaGunner team's MAGFest Chipspace show. But, to both the submitter, and to vvsvlogs herself for playing the rip at her set - thank you SO much to introducing me to Mother, Father, TechnoMan. I am always, ALWAYS down to cover more Anamanaguchi music on here.
I haven't made my love for the aforementioned band much of a secret on here: while I am still pretty poorly versed in the music world as a whole, I have listened to the entire discography of Anamanaguchi, most known nowadauentire discography. after initially discovering them through Scott Pilgrim, and immediately fell in love with their sound. With Give Me the Fantasy, I was a bit more self-indulgent than usual and covered a mashup between their hit song Endless Fantasy and Pitbull, and more recently with 88811 I covered a rip I now call one of my all-time, most-underrated favorites. Now with a mashup, and a melody swap, it's time to shift into overdrive - Mother, Father, TechnoMan is a full-on mashup medley, with so many pieces that elevate an already incredible track into all-new levels of sheer hype. Hype that vvsvlog's set at Chipspace, MAGFest, only heightens.
Because even though I was merely watching the set streamed through Twitch, it was incredible clear to me just how much sheer energy and fun exuded from the entirety of vvsvlog's show at MAGFest. And really, it's Mother, Father, TechnoMan's part of it that best illustrates it, as seen at around 01:28:40 in the Twitch VOD. Right after she'd poured her heart out performing The Paragoomba and the Wiggler with live sing-along, the music fades, the visuals turn black, and she takes a few steps away from the mic, as if to end the set, met with claps from everyone in the crowd... And then, it plays: "MOTHER - FATHER - GENTLEMEN !!" - and immediately, vvsvlogs springs back to the microphone with absolutely infectious silly-mode energy. From absolutely HITTING a Fortnite dance in time with the opening Space Jam mashup that revs up the rip, to miming along with the lyrics to Last Resort, to the neverending bounce and energy present in general, it becomes just, abundantly clear to me how much vvsvlogs LOVES doing what she does.
It's not that I'm trying to review the Chipspace performance itself here - rather, I simply think it illustrates the magic of rips like Mother, Father, TechnoMan so perfectly. There's just a feeling of joy, a feeling of pure fun to be found in these rips, the ones that are just covered in so many layers of noise, the meme mashups like Memey Hell or Everybody's Special Course, or so many others. And Mother, Father, TechnoMan just channels that energy so expertly though its pingponging of lyrically-driven sources, all tweaked to fit the high-pitched emotion that defines Anamanaguchi's sound. Space Jam, Last Resort, a chorus introduced by Initial D Eurobeat before being overtaken by Linkin Park, which fucking HITS those high notes to a level I never thought would be possible...through it all, it feels as if these sources are all tied together through the power of raw excitement. Excitement that I feel every time I listen to it, and excitement that vvsvlogs is evidently well equipped to handle.
In closing, I love Mother, Father, TechnoMan, I love Anamanaguchi, I loved MAGFest 2024, and I do love SiIvaGunner...But, as a sleep-deprived yet adrenaline-fueled me wrote at 01:17:23 in the aforementioned Twitch stream's chat:
"@ siivacord i demand rips of [USA] expeditiously"
Orz (this is me begging)

us state flag tierlist by how urgent the need to change them is
(not necessarily by objective quality, although they are ordered by my own personal preference within the tiers)
Tumblr media
yeah everyone and their cunt’s done a tierlist of how good the us state flags are, but here’s one that’s more useful imo - how much they need to change. ie, how far up the statehouse’s agenda changing the shitass flag should be
the ‘perfect’ flags shouldn’t ever change. yeah, alabama’s good, i said it - it’s iconic and recognisable. and yeah colorado might be cheesy but it’s american cheese, it’s an icon. and arizona is the best flag do not @ me
‘ain’t broke don’t fix it’ means you can start nitpicking the flag, but honestly, nobody cares and there’s no point in changing. alaska and indiana are here because their mute colours hold back their excellent designs. california’s here because the bear should probably be bigger and have a different face. utah and mrs sippy’s new flags are both here because they’ve got the same problem - they’ve both chosen really horrible dark blues, honestly so bad that they should be in lower tiers, but they changed them too recently so they should stick for a while, until people get used to the, yeah, iconic and recognisable new designs. a placeholder for minnesota is here too, based offa the six finalist designs released on tuesday, because any of them would probably end up in that spot - imperfect but relatively good
‘minor tweaks maybe’ is where the nitpicks start becoming flaws and the good designs could be made perfect very easily. hawai’i doesn’t need the british canton, it just doesn’t. wyoming doesn’t need that seal inside the buffalo. and rhode island? well idk but it’s a bold design held back by, something. stew on it for a while
the final three tiers are the ones i believe should change. the first (non urgent) is for bad flags that remain somewhat distinct, and so are still managing to do their job - but could be had so much better. NC is ripping off texas. iowa and missouri are both overcomplicated and dull. and arkansas, ignoring the word ‘arkansas’ i’m definitely getting slavers’ rebellion vibes from it
the bottom two tiers unambiguously must change. ‘fairly urgent’ are the flags where there’s maybe one redeeming quality that sets the flag apart, and could be carried forward to the new one. LA’s pelican and OK’s osage shield are iconic, but they’re still a something-on-blue and need upgrading. florida is just alabama but with a seal, honestly pathetic and one of the list’s biggest tragedies. washington, yep, there he is, but it’s still just something on a plain background. i hesitated between putting delaware here or the tier below, but its boon is its recognisability with that yellowy diamond. then there’s georgia, probably the most controversial placement on the list. but yeah. that’s the fucking CSA flag. and the iconic state deserves so much better than just an undistinct crest on the slaver flag
and yeah the last category are where all the truly pathetic failures sit. the opening few have curious motifs that could be used for the new flag, like connecticut’s grapes, michigan’s elk and oregon’s 🅱️eaver. but they still suck utter pisswank, the distinguishing thing about them only becoming clear when you stop to look at it. the latter flags of the tier are fucking irredeemable trash. tell me you know which states those final four are when the picture’s zoomed out. it’s a fucking tragedy that new york the state is amongst the union’s worst, when the city’s iconic blue-and-orange could lend it so much inspiration (same could be said for IL being outshone by chicago). or if new york wants to make it distinct from the city, it could always look to old york shire’s iconic white rose. combine it with a tulip for old amsterdam and bam we’ve got a brilliant motif. i am honestly happy to call the vermontese flag the worst in the us, for a state with such history, with such a pronounced identity and spirit, how can it let itself have such horseshit. especially when the green mountain boys’ flag is such stupid, dumb brilliance. yeah, vermont is the worst because they should just change to the green flag end of story
BOUNS ROUND: provinces of canadada
perfect: la quebec
ain’t broke: sass, newfie & lab
tweak: nova scotia, new brunswick
non urgent: BC, PEI (both controversial picks ino, but they’re fuck ugly d@m)
change now: ontario, manitoba, albert

Fucking. Stop it with the AI Art.
I’m extremely upset by people I respect using AI art more and more. I don't know what to do about it, from the people in comments being like "shut up, people have been inspired by others' art for centuries" to others saying "it's just a tool."
A lot of those people don't know how AI art is made, and either won't believe a factual explanation or just don't care. Datasets aren't "inspired" by art. Datasets are machines. If they're asked to do something, they output their best guess as to what it is you want. Recently, a very famous artist, Kim Jung Gi, died, and someone on Twitter fed his art into a dataset and spit out new art that LITERALLY could have been made by the original artist. And this person just... didn’t see a problem with doing that. He called it an homage.
SO MANY people don’t see a problem with that, either. I don’t get it.
The truth is, AI is replacing artists.
That’s not debatable. From an AI entry in an art contest winning first place to Cosmo using AI art on a cover and bragging that “it only took 20 seconds to do” AI is being used to push artists out of careers.
And let’s all be honest here. If you need a portrait, it must be at LEAST a little tempting to ask MidJourney to do it, because a portrait of similar quality is going to cost you a couple hundred bucks from an ACTUAL artist. And if you pay a dataset to do it for you, it might run you $8bux at most. Easy as fuck, man. And that’s the problem... Why pay a real artist to do it when you can get nearly the same result in 20 seconds?
This might seem doom-and-gloomy, but no one can tell me it’s gonna be okay. No one has offered a logical counterargument to me. No one's said "look, here's why you're fine" and given me a reason that doesn't have a logical rebuttal.
The reason I find it so difficult to keep fighting is because there's no one reason AI art is bad. There's dozens. And more become evident every day. So if I make one argument, I HAVE to be prepared to make another, because someone is going to counter with another argument that has to be refuted. And so on and so forth. I just don’t have the energy to keep up. ALL OF IT IS BAD. The only advantage is to the people who want cheap, fast art.
I’m not gonna name names here, but... There are people out there with the platform to stop this, and it's so demoralizing that instead of taking a stand against it, they are feeding into it. I offer to educate someone and I’m ignored. Immediately after, that person posts more lensa self portraits. God, it’s so fucking frustrating.
Sometimes I do wonder: Am I on the wrong side of history? Is AI art just another panic-scare like photography? Does AI art really have a place in our future? The difference is, photography doesn’t steal other peoples' art. In fact, there are court decisions out there that give artists rights against their pieces being photographed and used without permission. Likewise, photographers are protected against their art being used by traditional artists. (IE, you can't make a sculpture from someone's unique photo. True fact.)
But there’s no protections in place for artists against AI. And so many people don’t understand that the art fed into the dataset is what creates the pieces. It doesn’t draw those things itself. It uses what it has, cobbling things together, to produce something it calls “new.” I saw someone in a Twitter comment say “lol that’s just a collage.” What a fucking bad faith argument. I know those people see the difference between a collage and art theft.
There’s so much more misinformation going around than truth, and people are just parroting it because they want to play with their new AI toy. No one is thinking critically. No one is looking at where this could go.
What’s going to stop people from creating an AI dataset that imitates CCTV footage and places innocent people at the scene of a crime? AI art is getting good enough that with a little tweaking, this is almost possible. I could absolutely do it myself right now, with the number of people feeding their faces into lensa. I have other fears, but that’s one I can post about, because I’m pretty sure my face isn’t inside an AI dataset at the moment.
Anyway. I’m angry. I’m tired. And I just don’t want to draw anymore.

hii <3
i indeed would like to ask for the “director’s commentary” on a particular story :))
your rambling is everything, so go wild on poor little meow meow Larissa and our favourite menace Wednesday hehe
hiiiii!!! sorry it took me a bit before my brain got less mushy and i could string coherent sentences together! i'm still very much sick though so excuse me if i ramble a bit too much lol.
okay so these two live in my brain rent free now. it started off more as a challenge? or something to be like wooo controversy, and like. how can i make this work. but even though it started that way i never intended it to be like, badly done. from the get-go i put a lot of thought into it and wanted to actually make the story as high-quality as i could in terms of character development, their relationship and all the technical aspects (you know as you are one of the betas haha, and you know how many times i tweaked things, proofread, and how many times zephyr and i went through it). like i wanted to develop it as much as one can reasonably do in 14 chapters without getting sidetracked. and that was supposed to be the gimmick, like oh some ppl are gonna think it's controversial but it is actually well done and they might still be inclined to read it if they just bothered to try! (like a naive lil disney princess i forgot this is the internet lol)
the more i got into the story, the more i adored these two and their dynamic, or rather the dynamic i created for them. i think they just work, or more like, i've made them work. ppl have accused me of being a pedophile multiple times in the last couple of weeks while i've been posting the story lol, and asked me if i ship them in the show now, which is imo just fucking ridiculous. this is a separate universe that builds on what we had, or rather should have had, in the show, a story about two grown women who are both very odd in different ways and have found love and belonging with each other. i think neither of them could do a conventional relationship in my universe, and so this makes perfect sense for them!
i love writing larissa as a poor lil meow meow. there is just something about a pathetic, lonely middle aged woman that makes my brain go brrrrrrr. and wednesday is just a delight to write. i love channeling her voice. i used to be a lot like wednesday as a teen lol, that's sorta how i talked (i had no friends lol), so channeling her is a fun blast from the past and feels very natural to write.
it was a joy to write tbh! and personally, i don't think it's like.... even that out there or particularly (hehe) controversial? it's very much a coming of age rom-com sort of thing, but make it like... Quirky and include some dark humour. the outraged reactions i got to it honestly made me wanna write actually controversial stuff lol. i tend to want to spite the haters :)) and prove my point that fiction is fiction. i am very annoyed by the whole puritan internet culture, it really fucking irks me, esp when it's enforced by the self-proclaimed weirdos and goths and whatnot, who don't know what pedophilia even is lol nor could recognise it in fiction or real life. i know i won't get my point across to people who have already made up their mind about me being the actual pedophilic devil, but i will sure have my fun! i can't wait to challenge myself again! :))
also "particular" really inspired me to write longer works!! and i learned that i am most comfortable with that sort of format. all the things i am planning in the future are multi-chapter fics and rather long! and how i prefer to do it now is to write it all in advance and then post -- that way i know i won't lose interest midway haha. i am motivated by that sweet dopamine of wanting to share my work!
so yeah, i met some lovely people bc of this story (looking at you @the-frankenman-writes, actual gem and joy and delight), i strengthened some friendships, and i think it definitely made an impact on people! i grew a lot as a writer and it pushed me to refine my skills! so all in all, i'm very happy <3
stay tuned for the last chapter!!! a christmas special! :)))

"but you're funny! you're a funny bitch!"
"i like savory, i don't like sweet because i like to abuse myself. i don't think i deserve sweetness."

BG3 playthrough - Parting thoughts
Massive spoilers:
I’ve now had some time for the ending to percolate through the grey matter, gotten over feeling sad that my first playthrough is over. I’ve started playing with my second tav, a tiefling paladin, and you know what, I’m already noticing little tweaks they’ve made to the dialogues. Like, nothing significant, but little polishes here and there. For instance: I always remember when I first met Asharak (the fight practice teacher) and he said to the kids, look who’s here! I thought he was talking about ME, look, it’s the hero who just showed up at our gate and fought off the goblins! Oh man I thought that was so cute. I was a bit disappointed when I finally realized he meant WYLL, not ME. They adjusted the dialogue so now it’s much more clear that Asharak is introducing Wyll to the kids. Little things like that. I can’t wait to see all the things that got finessed.
Man. It took me seven months to finish my first playthrough. I dunno how everyone finished the game so quickly, my final recorded time was like 200 hours. (granted this did involve several hours of backtracking to fix various mistakes) Initially I assumed I would never play BG3, because I don’t have a PC or a non-nintendo console or anything. It was fun to watch everyone talk about the game even when I had no ability to play it. I think I mentioned this a million times already, but this game was released for mac coincidentally the exact same weekend I got a terminal cancer diagnosis for my cat that I’d had for 13 years. (she’s still doing ok btw) It was so amazing to have something to distract myself with and cheer myself up with after getting that shitty news. I binged it for about four days straight, barely sleeping at all. It was the first big, brand new, non-nintendo game that I’d played in… like… decades, seriously. I was so blown away by the quality of everything. Came here for the funny mean vampire, stayed here for the… absolutely everything else.
I am really glad that I kept a character journal as I played - like, along with the notes I was keeping about game mechanics (because online guides are super shit), I would also write down little thoughts and observations from the perspective of my tav. I always have this record of my playthrough now, and I think it’s really helped me to preserve my thoughts and reactions.
Neil Newbon came to my city’s comic expo last weekend and I was absolutely broadsided by what a smart, nice, and humble guy he is. Isn’t it just such an AMAZING feeling to be a fan of something, then get to know the people who made that thing and find out they’re nice people? I… I don’t know what’s wrong with my brain, but I’m a bit glad I finished my first playthrough before the expo, because I feel… embarrassed somehow?... to be thirsting so much after characters now that I’ve chatted with the guy in real life and he’s talked to my kids? Isn’t that weird? Why is my brain doing that? It’s not like he cares. Very much no. Neil has an amazing sense of humour about it all. Weird brain stuff. Weird. What can I say.
Anyways, I was thinking about a summary of my favourite moments:
1) Cambian fight on the nautiloid. So like I said, I hadn’t played any big, new non-nintendo games in a while. (I mean Nintendo makes good games! But like. A game like Animal Crossing… isn’t… quite the same, you know?) I was wandering around the ship feeling quite blown away by how fancy games have gotten. I was marvelling at the graphics, the gameplay, the tension of the whole situation, and then I get to this fight and that absolute fucking BANGER of a song that is Twisted Force starts playing, that was when I really realized like shit, this game is going to be an EXPERIENCE.
2) Alfira’s dark urge death. I was exposed to a ton of spoilers for this game before I ever touched it so I knew a lot of the main story beats, thoroughly. With Alfira, I did know that the dark urge kills a bard, but for some bizarre reason, the only clips I had seen were of that dragonborn alternative that you get if you cheat and Alfira is unavailable. So I was already at the grove, exploring around, and I absolutely fell in love with the tiefling NPCs, and THEN I discovered it’s actually HER who dies. I was DEVASTATED. I was so attached to the tieflings - both myself as a player, and my tav as well - this was the first settlement of people he found, post-brain-scramble, the first people who were being kind to him, and they needed help so bad, and he wanted so bad to protect them… and here is this awful thing that he does that I can’t avoid. AUGH.
3) The siege on the Emerald Grove. It continues to mystify me that this path is actually a bit hidden in the game, and if you aren’t paying attention you will be herded into just killing the three goblin leaders to resolve things, which is such a massively less interesting path. (perhaps they’ve made the option more obvious with patches? I will see) I loved the tension of the morning before the attack: everyone’s fear really bolstered my desire to win the fight with zero casualties. I loved how, due to my familiarity with the NPCs, I instantly realized that Mattis wasn’t with the other kids and searched all over the place, legit worried, until I found him up by the gate still trying to make a buck, lol. I loved how when they mentioned people had ran off in the night, I knew exactly who wasn’t there and who it had to be. It really made me realize how much I’d got to know the NPCs. Zevlor gets two amazing cutscene speeches, and the fight itself was so freaking fun. I mean it certainly wasn’t the hardest fight in the game at all, but I think it remains one of my favourites, due to all the different moving parts and the planning it involved. It was so goddamned fun getting to use the explosives I had saved up, and I never really had the chance to rig up a battlefield the same way again.
4) Lenore’s tower, and the whole underdark in general. I found it all so lonely, and Lenore’s tower really got to me. I think I shed some tears. I loved the area with the giant sussur tree, I thought it was so beautiful, I took so many screenshots of it. I know if you’re a dark urge your upbringing is… unconventional, but I still imagine that my drow durge has spent a lot of time in the underdark and generally considers it home-ish, so it was neat to see it and think about how this is his home turf.
5) Moonrise and especially the mind flayer colony underneath. This was really where things just started to get interesting for a durge, you start to get the first reveals of your backstory. For a resisting urge, it’s extremely unsettling. Meeting Kressa Bonedaughter was especially horrible. I hadn’t really spoiled a lot of the details of the durge plot, so most of this was a surprise to me. JK Simmons did a great job as Ketheric - I remember being so incredibly curious how he was going to sound, but it worked so well, and as I have noted previously, they spend ridiculous care rendering his sad old man eyes.
6) Gortash’s coronation. Again as a dark urge, this is an important plot beat, I think the last big backstory reveal? Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, not only do you have these horrible murderous urges, not only do you have this nasty little butler man trying to force you to kill people, not only did something horrible happen to you that wiped clean all your memories and turned you into a necromancer’s cute little pet for a while, NOT ONLY ARE YOU A GODDAMNED BHAALSPAWN and the leader of the goddamned Bhaal cult, NOT ONLY ALL OF THIS, NO, that wasn’t enough, oh no: now you learn you were also one of the original architects of the Absolute plot, removed only when Orin saw an opportunity to displace you. Dammmmn. Your companions all react to this information appropriately, so in other words, negatively. Karlach’s reaction is particularly strong, understandably, and hurt my heart. To balance that out a bit, you have Astarion’s reaction, which was… to thank you. If you hadn’t put this plot into motion, he wouldn’t have been abducted by the mindflayers, and wouldn’t have been rescued from Cazador’s control and given the means to resist his commands. 200 years of praying to every god, but it was you that saved him. I had honestly never even considered that, so that was… surprising! Really, really surprising.
7) Comparing spawn and ascendant Astarion - I didn’t play much with ascended Astarion, just spent a little time progressing through the next batch of cut scenes, just so I could see. I was really impressed to see the difference in the two characters, the difference in the writing, the difference in the performance. I enjoyed the visceral negative reaction I had to AA almost immediately, when we had our first camp chat post-ascension, and he SHOUTED at me when I was responding to him with… not even an angry or rude response, but just, a less-than-enthusiastic response. It was like ice water down my back, instantly taking me back to dealing with my abusive ex. I know everyone has a different and highly personal reaction to AA and I think that’s great, and I enjoyed how viscerally negative my reaction was. It’s fun when a thing makes you feel stuff! And I loved spawn Astarion, and how honest and vulnerable he is in his third act romance, thinking about his whole character arc and growth through the game.
8) Rescuing Minsc. It’s a bit of a long daunting set of steps to get Minsc, and I didn’t find it very fun tbh, but I did it anyways because I have to complete everything. I was fully expecting him to sit around camp and never be used, like Halsin and Jaheira are for me unfortunately, (sorry guys) but I was really unprepared for how funny he was going to be. I don’t really like ranger class (also sorry) so when I found out he can still summon Boo even if you respec him, I made him a barbarian, and kept him on my team as much as I could. He is now my second favourite companion to have with me after only Astarion. He has SUCH funny dialogue. I like that you can attempt to start a romance with him and he’s not having any of it. He even gets the opportunity to say a very touching speech as you gather your allies, if you let him.
9) Durge vs Orin fight. The actual fight itself was kind of pitiful, which I thought was sad for her, but it was a startling moment in the lead-up when she briefly changed into me and I actually heard my own tav speaking, like, more than just a little reaction line here and there, I got to actually see my tav speaking. I don’t know. I don’t know why that was such a neat thing to me but it was. Since this playthrough took so long, I really got attached to my tav, I guess.
10) Gather your allies. Ah, the big summary that I needed of all the people I’ve helped and made friends with, all saying something nice about me, haha. Not gonna lie, I reloaded and watched this a couple of times cause it made me so happy.
I’m so glad Larian made an epilogue, with so many sweet little details in it. I’m so happy I had a chance to play this. I don’t have a huge amount of current mutuals who are also fans, and my IRL peeps for some reason are absolutely refusing to finish this game, so please if you want to fangirl (fanperson?) about anything just start talking to me, I’m kind of starving over here!

Finished AI: Nirvana initiative and on the one hand, that game cooked my brain a little bit to the point I had to sit down and think about things. On that same hand, that's fucking awesome and exactly what I want out of art. There is no other hand that's just sick and I like that. Spoilerific review/ramble under the cut.
First things to praise, we got more Mizuki! I wanted that from the first one and the game delivered on that twofold, and the Somniums are generally much less trial and error (i feel like they made more sense while still maintaining that dream-like quality, whether that was my own experience or design idk but I'm attributing it to design to praise that more), and the difficulty settings, while pure numerical tweaks, are also proper numbers to tweak for difficulty settings stuff (qtes/button mashing/more time to think) in my opinion in the Discourse Of Difficulty, but that's not the point of this I just want to say that's good. Much like this game.
The six year difference thing took me going through the helix and reframing things to actually *get*, but when I got it everything slotted into place? It's really clever, and I really like the way it particularly shifts the view of Ryuki's mental state because of the incredibly strong before/afters and the good/bad days from things.
On that note, Ryuki's a really strong character! Him and Date have a really good dynamic that got me invested early on since well. I really liked Date and Ryuki's relationship with him feels super natural, especially in regards to how they feel about each other and some of the guilt they carry, they're foils, parallels, lovers, everything they have going on Works and that's all there is to say on the matter. Tama also works with him well as this like, mommy figure to him. Not maternal, mommy. I am standing by that because GOD she's so much. I love that for her though. A friend mentioned that she was designed how she is because I think it was Uchikoshi who got introduced to the word "thicc" and it just spiraled from there? However it happened it's hilarious and she's fantastic, she's assertive, she's caring, she's sitting in Boss' tits, what isn't to love about her.
I adore the way the game handles its sexual content tbh, because this game is Horny and I love that for it. It's empathetic even when it's crass (Boss talking about Bibi as her daughter wrt "she hasn't said anything otherwise" and also a well made penis joke) and it just has really good comedic timing on everything. There's some playing with expectations when it does stuff, there's the fact that it once again leans into absurdity, and also they explained Date's porno mag power stuff??? I think it's erroneous and they didn't have to, I could have just taken that as is but the explanation was funny so I don't really care, it made me feel a human emotion (whimsy) which is a good thing when talking about the sheer volume of sexual jokes in this game. I was also really glad to have Greg Chun's Date the entire time because well, that's Date to me and I think his generally very subdued delivery creates *incredible* contrast with when he's hamming it the fuck up.
Like the first game, it's incredibly tightly designed. Basically everything has an explanation, information is always relevant to something and I think it's especially good in this game since there's more twists that are foreshadowed expertly, or you can again, conclude on your own by making inferences with given info, they're really intellectually satisfying and that's fantastic, love that. It might have just been a me thing, but I was completely blindsided by the six year parallel thing, which was the only thing I didn't catch onto beforehand? It comes with a fourth wall break during that reveal but also stuff is foreshadowed before then (mostly through omission imo) so like, maybe you can catch on maybe you can't, kinda wish I could have but it is what it is, the point is that's the only one I'm a little mixed on the execution of, even if I still feel positively about its existence.
Ending wise and thematically, again citing the very empathetic reality of it I mentioned earlier in the context of its sexual humor, this game firmly believes in the potential of humans to work together and be with each other, that moment in the ending where Tearer says "come, look upon true humanity" is really good! We are, it's us working together! It scratches that same kind of itch that Yoko Taro's works do, where things are both very direct and also a little clever about it all depending on the moments. I think Mizuki's speech in the ending is a little ham fisted but it's also Mizuki, it fits her character even if I think spelling it out feels a little erroneous to lay out the entire ethos there. Amame, and to some degree, Ryuki, also give the theme of "yeah life dealt you a shit hand and you made some bad choices, that doesn't mean you're irredeemable it just makes you human" which I am always a sucker for.
I think my only real complaint about this game is Lien. When he's not being Kizzybrained I don't mind him but everything else with him just really did not land with me. His stuff feels like it doesn't have enough time to breathe, and his Somnium does add to it well! It's just not enough.
Other than that though, peak fucking fiction. I love strong women, pathetic men, lots of thought and humor, and a very human story.

MY NEW MOON ANON BABY HI HOW ARE YOU I’VE MISSED YOU!! 🩶
I’m decent, kind of just trying to survive and go through the motions. November’s been rough, December is kinda worse BUT I’m chilling for the most part. I hope you’re doing alright especially with your studies!! I’m super proud of you for focusing on school work and getting good grades. And yes, fuck physical chemistry, but the real bitch in the sciences is physics (I love biology and chemistry lmao, but absolutely can’t stand physics!). I’m sure that you will do great for this semester, I wish you the absolute best on your finals. Take care of yourself, eat well and stay hydrated, and do get your rest. I remember how I was during finals when I was still in school, absolutely tore me apart I was running on lattes like it was water LMAO. But I hope you get your break very soon!
I always love seeing your messages, they make me happy. But I also feel ashamed I haven’t written anything new though I am in the process of getting back in the groove of things. My brain just hasn’t kicked in when it comes to smut and it’s like I know what to write, just never know how?? I have so many ideas, and usually I’m very good at creating intricate hcs or plot points or need be, but when it comes to writing it out it just takes me forever to do it now. It’s a process, but I know I’ll have something for you to read soon. The bullying is working tho, I will say that because the second you sent me that message I actually opened up my computer and wrote something 😭 So thank you!
And btw, I got your longer ask, I didn’t forget about you wanting more sub Leon. I have two WIPs in the process, jumping between them, but now I’m changing the way I’m seeing and writing for Leon so I have to tweak some things out. Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten. Thank you for the lovely message seriously. 🫶🧡

Pinch Reviews: Resident Evil 4 (Remake)
Tumblr media
I hold a lot of love for Resident Evil 4, the original, that is. I'd been pretty interested in 4make (as it will henceforth be called) for large parts of its dev cycle, and after playing the original a mere six months prior, I felt that when I played the game near launch, I was pretty cognizant of changes and differences made to the game that would be felt either extremely positively or extremely negatively.
I am very happy to report that this game, despite it changing plenty, retains the vast majority of the spirit of the game, and remains extremely fun, replayable, and tense for its entire runtime.
I'll attempt to review the game in short and spoiler-free quickly here so as to not spoil any changes for anyone who isn't interested in hearing about such things. 4make makes excellent use of the modern hardware that it released for in order to provide crisp, satisfying gameplay, consisting of responsive gunplay, the same integral inventory management, and exploration of unique and intriguing areas that I would say, even to those who aren't fans of the series, but are looking for an "in" to the survival-horror genre, could very easily enjoy. At the end of the day, the game is still Resident Evil 4. All of the praise that one could give to that game can, by and large, be given to this game as well.

Now to discuss the changes made to this game. My listing of changes will not be comprehensive, as there are far more than I care to list, but those that I do detail will be in the interest of explaining the spirit of the changes at hand.
Graphical updates:
The game is beautiful. What do you want me to say. I can look at Leon Kennedy my beautiful malewife in better quality than ever before. This is a net positive. (although the graphical differences only provide a "different" experience not a "better" experience)
Expanded exploration:
RE4 had multiple sections that would incentivize the player to explore, but large portions of the collectibles were reasonably easy to miss. 4make seeks to expand on the exploration present in the original by adding a map with waypoints, markers, and other smaller quests for Leon to embark on in each major area of the game. Initially, I was split on these sections, however as the chunk of my psyche that requires me to pick up lots and lots of little goodies took over, I came to quite enjoy it. The increased focus on collecting and exploration can allow the player to upgrade their weapons more efficiently, without the stress placed on them to pick and choose upgrades that they'd keep for the whole of the game. I like this change, as you *can* ignore it all if you'd like, but if you want more stuff to do or more money to throw at your problems, you can do that as well.
The Parry:
Leon can parry with knives, so long as he has one that isn't broken. That's cool as fuck. You can parry chainsaws. Parrying an unarmed melee cuts the enemies' hand off. I love parrying. Good addition. (also it helps to alleviate some of the balancing issues present in RE4 relating to not having a lot of options in the close range.)
Ashley:
No longer tied to a health bar, Ashley now operates on a "downed" system that basically means that you can tell her to follow or stay, but if she gets hit, she's on the ground and needs to be picked back up, lest she be vulnerable to kidnapping or death. This alleviates some of the problems with Ashley eating all of your healing items through very little fault of your own. I like this change.
Boss fight tweaks:
Some fights are practically unchanged, like Menendez, while others are completely reworked, Like Ramon Salazar. Some are even just flat out omitted, like U-3. I'll refer to each and give a brief description of changes and whether I like them or not.
Del Lago: Removed some QTE elements in favor of real-time steering. Largely unchanged. Still fun.
El Gigante: Practically the same.
Menendez: Largely the same.
Verdugo: Pretty much the same, but Leon is more responsive now compared to the tank controls of old, so it is a bit easier. A-OK.
Ramon Salazar: Complete overhaul, unique arena, unique boss form, unique attacks. Nothing is the same. I'm kinda indifferent though.
U-3: Completely Omitted. Good Riddance.
Jack Krauser: COMPLETE overhaul, he is WAY fucking better in every conceivable way, narratively, gameplay wise, the whole way down. Whereas I would once dread Krauser's fight because it was a bit of a slog, now I hold the Krauser fight in high regard as perhaps the best narrative moment in the game.
Saddler: Doesn't suck ass now.
Ultimately I like the boss changes made quite a bit, very little that wasn't broken got "fixed" and I'm happy with that. The largest changes really come from the updated combat systems.
Story:
4make has a much greater emphasis on providing characterization to each of the characters, and provides a much greater narrative weight to what Leon, Krauser, Ashley and Luis go through. I would be willing to say that in terms of impact this game might win out for me, but everyone is entitled to their own take as to what were the "bette" story aspects individually.
The Regenerators:
This one is gonna be real specific, but bear with me. Regenerators are not scary in this game after about 30 seconds of having knowledge that they exist. First, the way they're introduced is changed from the iconic "thaw out" scene from the original, to them just, sorta being alive and active? It still spooked me a bit, as I was expecting the original scene, and I wasn't prepared to take one on, but I was quickly soothed once I learned that you can parry the regenerators. Being able to parry any enemy puts the player in a state where with reasonable timing and attention, most enemies who are parryable can do not a damn thing to you. This makes the Regenerator into more of a combat aspect, as opposed to the horrifying wall they were originally. It's a nitpick, sure, but this is legitimately my *one* issue with this game.
Overall, I'm willing to surmise that 4make is a pretty faithful, but extremely fresh modernization of a classic title, and while it works to bring the game to modern audiences with its updated graphics and mechanics, I don't feel that the experience is better or worse than the original. This isn't to 4make's detriment as much as it speaks to the unyielding quality present in the original Resident Evil 4.
Play the game.
