The end of the year can be tough for a lot of people. My goal? To make it a little bit brighter. That's why I'm pleased to once again announce the return of...
The Portal Holiday Spirit Initiative!
To help bring a smile to people's faces this year, I will be sending FREE Portal-Themed Holiday Cards to anyone who asks for one! There are a few changes to the cards this year because life has gotten very busy for me and I have less free time than in years past.
This year there will only be one card design, featuring artwork from one of the Portal Fandom's awesome artists! The cards will still be customizable to any Winter Holiday of your choosing, but you'll have to wait for your card to arrive in order to see how (the method takes cues from the Portal game's sense of humor, so it will very much be on-brand).
This year is also special because it is PHSI's 5th Anniversary! I can’t express the amount of thanks everyone who has participated over the years, whether you've reblogged and shared, requested cards, helped with artwork, or helped in other ways. You all deserve my recognition and thanks for volunteering your time, talents, and support! Thanks for helping to make PHSI a special fandom tradition!

It's that easy! Card Requests are now open, and close on December 20th in order to give me enough time to make and send all the cards before the end of the year. Please submit sooner rather than later so I have time to finish them all!
Also, please don’t be afraid to request a physical card if you don’t live in the US! The card service I've chosen says they ship worldwide and, while it might take a bit longer for you to receive your card depending on what country you live in, the cards will get mailed to whatever address you provide, domestic or foreign. Last year I mailed/emailed a total of 164 cards to Italy, Canada, Germany, England, Poland, The US, The United Kingdom, Brazil, India, and Slovenia!
I’m happy to be a part of the Portal Fandom and hope to bring a smile to others in the Fandom this year! Making and emailing Holiday Cards takes time and effort, and sending physical cards is expensive. While it isn't a requirement to receive a card, I would greatly appreciate if you'd like to give $4 to cover the cost of your card or someone else's. Worried about providing a mailing address, for whatever reason?
PHSI has an eCard option! All you need to provide is a name for me to call you by and an email address to receive your card!
Worried about requesting a card because you don’t live in the US?
PHSI mails to any address provided, whether domestic or foreign! However, please wait patiently for your card, due to the current global rate of shipping.
Worried that you can’t give $4 to cover the cost of your card or someone else’s?
Requesting a card from PHSI has been and will always be FREE! However, giving $4 to the initiative helps me pay for the printing service and postage to mail physical cards (visit ko-fi.com/247testing if you’d like to contribute). I gratefully appreciate any contributions received, even if it’s just a comment saying thanks!
Worried because you don’t know how to support the artist of the card you received?
The artist’s social media is listed on the back of every card featuring their artwork. Look them up, commission them, reblog their art, and support them however you can!

Double check your email inbox and junk folders. I send everyone an email that either confirms your Holiday Card has shipped or includes your eCard! Physical cards take 1-2 weeks to arrive. Before you say anything, yes his name is "Deceiver" I mean what do you expect to a writer who create im not that kind of talent novel with a name Cruel, Stigma, and Remember?

Deceiver is born from the deception of the last Hero and Last Demon King for deceiving the world and going against their will by joining hands
The moment Deceiver became alive, he knew his own existence as the demigod and also the world error
The first thing he did was to find his fathers but they were both dead. his only goal was to find the reincarnation of his father Deon Hart since Demon King are an existence who can't reincarnate
He can find his father easily by knowing the flow of the world and see where his reincarnation ended up with
it took him a lot of courage to approach his father even after 150 years of watching him from afar until he finally took the role as the youngest and the 5th disciple
Raven 'saved' Deceiver from the gate and monster. The little child is cunning and only disguise himself as a young boy for Raven to rescue him
at first it was a coincidence encounter but Deceiver wanted his father attention and been yearning for him
he called him "father" at their first meeting and the rest of the disciple looks weirdly at him because he's the first one to call Raven a father while the rest of them still doesnt have the guts to call him father yet
Raven cherish Deceiver as well as his other disciples. He took care of them with warmth and love as they needed
Raven openly call him with endearment names like "my son, baby, dear" and more cute names even if he feel betrayal from world error
Raven doesnt like world error even if they're demigods. he realize this fact after he notice Deceiver's height is out of normal from ordinary human
as if his height (196cm) is similar to a demon king who is also world error
later when Raven found this fact especially the eyes reveal itself. instead of taking revenge like his previous life as Deon Hart. He choose to disappear from their sight for 10 years
Deceiver was grieving at rejection and started a war against the holy land just to find his father. he even go against any race such as elven territory and directly loot their fairy herbs for their father and even threaten the emperor Ardall of the Empire.
He is banned in Esperanes Kingdom alongside with Raven but he still go inside as he pleases. He doesnt give a shit about law and he even have the underworld at the palm of his hands
He is above the emperor and they can't go against the demigod.
Deceiver truly loves his father and willing to create a world directly for ■■ who is now called Raven as alias since the world cencored the name Deon
Deceiver kept asking Raven why does he abandoned him but Raven only replied he must kill Deceiver since he is the world error. He doesnt like how his father treated him but he still so pure as a child who only wants his father with him
but despite these toxic behaviour between father and child. Raven still allow Deceiver to cuddle him and call him his son. they made a contract as sort of temporary truce in order to live later
The truce is about Deceiver doing more good deeds in the world in order to be accepted by his father more. He isnt bad as the previous world errors.
Deceiver even mention his other father the Demon King to Raven to prove his point his existence as demigod is different just like how the demon king separated his existence with the demons. He just wanted to be accepted by Raven.
Deceiver calls the other disciples as Noona and Hyungnim except to the newest disciple who took the youngest name Dan.
all 5 disciples doesnt like Dan (reincarnation Dan)
Deceiver called Cruel the Guardian Spirit as parasite who keeps sticking up to his father
(Ps. Cruel wants to beat up all his nephews and nieces because they're all little shits who kidnap and threaten their papa to stay with them even if it means breaking Raven's limbs because the children develop a separation issue since Raven left them for 10 years. Though they were already crazy little shits before they got separation issue but it just got worse lmao)
He knew his father very well especially his favorite clothing style and sometimes help him to fix his clothes. Unlike the other disciples, Deceiver isnt affected by the curse to forget Raven since he is a demigod.

(Alright, going to stop procrastinating and finally make this post.) After playing through the new trilogy in French to see what was different, here are some things about the French localisation of Spirit of Justice I thought you should know:
First of all, I usually like the French and English versions of the games equally. This marks the first time I've actually enjoyed the French version... more than the English one?? Especially Turnabout Revolution? Don't get me wrong, I already loved it in English, but I think the next time I replay it I'll actively choose French. Idk man it just hits different when a bunch of French people are talking about revolution and overthrowing the tyrannical regime etc
Oh yes, speaking of which, yes, the "Japanifornia" parts of the game take place in Paris, France, as usual. No, I have no idea how Kurain village can be next to the mountains and also the sea while also being in the vicinity of Paris. I also don't know why the entire population of a small country in the Himalayas are fluent in French and use it on a daily basis. But seriously, the main characters mention SO OFTEN that they're French and from France, like, all the fricking time. Remember the incredibly Japanese rakugo case? Imagine that taking place in France.
The Khura'inese pun names are hysterical in French. An example that English speakers can get too: the first culprit's name in French is Sterh'uey Tu'heiven. I'm not making this up. That's his name.
RAYFA'S FRENCH VOICE ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE A TEENAGER INSTEAD OF A 30 YEAR OLD, THANK THE HOLY MOTHER
Unfortunately the Holy Mother giveth, but she also taketh away, and they gave Nahyuta a crunchy old man voice that doesn't suit his ethereal appearance at all...
Athena has now added German and Italian to her random English and Spanish phrases from the prev game. I mean... it made sense before, since she was meant to have lived in the USA in this version, but now I guess she just does it for fun? Who knows
French Roger Retinz uses €50 notes (euros) to fan himself instead of dollar bills
Inga's full name is "Inga Karkhuul Kel Nomh Bowkhou Tro'lon Pohm'peu Eh'Duhr Apronh Ons'ai Khura'in III" ("quel nom beaucoup trop long, pompeux et dur à prononcer")
Nahyuta's nickname in French is just "Yuta"
Ema and Apollo now use informal pronouns for each other, so do Ema and Trucy now, Maya starts using informal pronouns for Apollo from almost the first moment she meets him (though he uses formal pronouns for her lmao), and yes Dhurke and Apollo use informal pronouns with each other the whole time, even when things are awkward at the start. Rayfa and her mother always use formal pronouns for each other, which is a little depressing.
AS FOR NAHYUTA AND APOLLO... HOHOHO. Obviously they're both using "vous" (formal) in court, but in the scene afterwards Apollo switches to "tu" (informal) when he asks Nahyuta if he remembers him. Later in Turnabout Revolution, Apollo has gone back to vous but he's at least saying "Nahyuta" rather than "Prosecutor Sahdmadhi" or whatever (I think that happened in the English version too). Then during the final trial, after that one insanely angsty scene, Apollo starts using tu again and even (internally) uses the nickname Yuta once! Nahyuta eventually starts referring to him as Apollo and starts using tu after finally openly acknowledging Apollo as his family aaauuuuuugh ;o;
(Listen Apollo usually always tries to be formal and professional in court so this is a big deal!!! It's a big deal to me at least!!!!!!!!!)
In the English version there were a few times our good ol' American Apollo had a sort of "haha I'm just a foreigner I don't know anything here" vibe which... no you're not lol. The French version didn't have that (or at least toned it down a lot) and made him feel less like a tourist and more like an immigrant returning to his old home country with complex feelings, which he is. It makes it more personal that he's the one to bring about the revolution imo -- he's not some random foreigner swooping in to save the day, this is his home and his family, he belongs here. (As an immigrant myself I find aspects of him relatable and will defend his Khura'inese backstory to the death DON'T TEST ME)

Elsamaren Comic: Elsa x Bruni - Fire Chapter:
Elsa learns that she can magnify the power of the spirits if she joins them instead of tame them…
But does she dare to let out all the fire that has burned inside her all these years?
Fire and Ice: Elsa + Bruni
Honeymaren has been mentoring Elsa about how the Northuldra channel the powers of the Spirits. Only special Northuldra can connect to the spirits at all, and the power builds when they ask the spirits to do something the spirits want to do themselves. After a lifetime of study, Honeymaren is one of the few Northuldra that can connect with the spirits, so she demonstrates the traditional way to Elsa, and gets Bruni’s help to light the fire.
But as the 5th spirit, Elsa learns she can connect empathetically with the spirits and their powers are magnified exponentially.
Elsa “wow that’s a little too fun…” but then glances a little embarrassed at Honeymaren, “ but I feel angry…and it it feels good?
Is this just another version or too dangerous to feel? “
Honeymaren: “there are no such things as wrong feelings, just uncomfortable ones. Emotions are like messages from your soul asking for help.
“Anger is a symptom of something deeper, and it deserves to be faced, just like fear. It is needed as part of the balance”
“Elsa” Honeymaren put her hand on her glowing arm. “It’s time for you to be free. Let out the fire that’s been burning you from the inside all your life.”
And so Elsa does….
And then she just lets herself run wild….
In her rage, Elsa and Bruni burn and burn and burn. The entire tundra is engulfed in flames…..

Y'know, experiencing flashbacks rn, and I'd like to admit this to the internet:
I was definitely a Warrior Cats kid, but in the way that someone gets second-hand smoke inhalation (in the good way tho-).
In elementary school there was this line of trees that kids weren't supposed to go by, but my friends and I did it anyways. They'd pretend to be cats, and I'd happily join them! (Mind you, I did not read any of the Warrior Cats books at the time, but I was a furry-coded child tbh. Animal Jam + Stuffed Animals galore.) I very vividly recall that I was either the Mother or Medicine Cat, and I'm honestly fond of that time.
Like, I read a few of the books, but not enough to make any sense of them (not for lack of trying) I just really liked the feeling of tackling my friends and running around on my hands and knees in the "woods". It was FUN.
And I'm sure I could go places w/ this story and explain how it shaped and kinda predicted who I am now, but instead I'm gonna say, shoutout to my friends who did this with me! (Also the girl who played dragons/witches back in fourth grade and gave me a blessing against hexes before she moved away-) It was fun, and I will *never* look back on that with any sort of distaste, because those people were who made the recess hour worth enjoying. Also thanks to them for making me really enjoy Warrior Cats despite knowing very little about it :)

It's getting closer to the end of the year, which means it's almost time for the Portal Holiday Spirit Initiative again!
[ If you don't know what PHSI is, see this post from last year's PHSI.]
Life has become busier for me recently, and I have less free time to devote to things like PHSI. However, I feel like I have found a good solution to still hold it this year despite my limited schedule.
This year the digital cards will still function as normal. However, I will be printing and mailing the physical Holiday Cards through an online card service (instead of making and mailing them all by hand). This changes and limits the features of the cards and PHSI as a whole, and I'd like to share those changes with you:
Address collection for physical cards will be handled through the card service's website (not through a Google form as in years past). I have written a Privacy Notice that you will read when you submit to receive a physical card.
For those of you with non-US-styled mailing address, you may have to get creative with how you format your address when you submit it in their collection form. As always, if your physical card fails to arrive, you will still be able to reach out to me and I'll email you a card as a replacement.
Because the physical cards will be printed through the card service, they will have a small amount of the service's branding on them. It's not very intrusive, but it's an extra cost to have it removed. The digital cards will not have the branding on them.
Since the card service will handle the printing and shipping of the physical cards, I have decided to only offer one card design this year. This is to reduce my PHSI workload and to simplify things with them. If all goes well, I may offer more choices next year.
Using the card service costs a bit more than making and sending the cards myself (I'm basically paying for professional printing and labor for assembling the cards). For those of you who help by graciously donating to PHSI through my Ko-Fi page, I have increased the base donation amount to $4 and changed the wording to indicate that your donation covers the cost of either your card or someone else's card (not both as in years past). Thank you again to everyone who donates!
Those are all of the major changes to be aware of for this year. I will keep everyone informed on any additional changes, as well as the future of PHSI as a whole.
Lastly, please take a minute and use this poll to tell me how you will participate with PHSI this year. Your feedback will help influence the future of PHSI!
