2023 Character Wrapped

@geralts-yenn and @raccoon-eyed-rebel tagged me to talk about my favorite characters. And well, this is just too good not to pass up. So, join me, won't you?

Let's rank my favorite characters! (Based on # of times I have written them).

Under the cut to keep my ramblings off your dashboard...but you just know there are bunch of Henry Cavill-shaped bitches under this cut.

But, in what order??

Alright, let's get this party started with...

Walter Marshall - Night Hunter

I feel like this is absolutely no surprise that I've written the most for this grumpy bear. But, I just call him Daddy. Whether he be touch-starved, an enemy turned lover, falling in love like a love-sick puppy, taking a little "me time" for himself, or being the goodest boy as werewolf Wolfie. Even wrote a headcanon about his hobbies.

2. Clark Kent - Man of Steel, BvS, Justice League

I have loved the character of Clark Kent since I was a little thing, I'm obsessed with curly-haired nerds. Clark also is the only character I have written "fluff" for, be it praising what you think are flaws or surprising you for your birthday. I have written him as a Sub and as a Dom (in my only work that has surpassed 1k notes).

3. August Walker - Mission: Impossible - Fallout

I've never written August as the good guy, and there is a reason for that. In my head, he's the life-ruiner. He can be sweet (to you), but odds are he just killed a guy because the guy looked at you for longer than a second. I've written August as a pissed-off Dom who was sick of being interrupted, a very bad Daddy, and an Uncle who takes advantage of his nephew's girlfriend here(original) and here(director's cut).

4. Captain Syverson - Sand Castle

Oh, Syverson. My baby don't even got a dayum first name and he's popular. I've written him confronting a lover during a post-apocalyptic pregnancy realization, and as a married father-to be getting his beard trimmed and talking to his unborn daughter. He's also featured in my Werewolf!Walter Marshall story, and that's all I'll say about that. (Also, I've been referring to him as James Syverson in every iteration of the character that I have written for - I think.)

5. Mike - Hellraiser: Hellworld

My sweet baby boy. He is a guilty pleasure. I gave him a full series where he finds love and has quite the cast of characters as his family. But, technically, I only wrote the series because of what happened here and here, when his naughty Uncle slept with his girlfriend.

6. Napoleon Solo - The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

He's just so fucking sexy. I love him, your honor. He's been a suave and sexy older man wooing a young student over a good meal, and also started a series where he was falling hard for a woman in his apartment building (still in the early stages and I promise @deandoesthingstome that I will get back to this series).

7. Sherlock Holmes - Enola Holmes series

I have also loved Sherlock Holmes since I was a little kid. I thought he was the coolest person ever, but he's a curly-haired nerd so of course I loved him. I love when Sherlock is in love, whether he is ignoring his bratty wife until he takes matters into his own hands, or if he is having trouble coming to terms with new love.

8. Charles Brandon - The Tudors

This little shit. This redeeemable, sexy, fucking slut. I love him. I've only written him once, and it was a request! But, I enjoyed it. I loved writing him getting teased sexually and then taking control of the situation. So hot.

9. Humphrey - Stardust

Ok, not actually a fan of Humphrey, I've just written him. And that was all thanks to @sillyrabbit81's milestone celebration at the beginning of this year. This fic is kind of a weird egg, just, go with me though. The plot is: you and Humphrey are step-siblings who end up getting a little...involved. I'm not sorry for the title of this fic.

And to our last entry, the only non-HC character...

10. Lloyd Hansen - The Gray Man

What can I say? If I had the means, and I guess I really do but whatever, I would rank this man at #2 above Clark Kent. Because Lloyd-excuse me...Sir is one of my all-time favorites. I've included him inside larger stories as a bit player, see Bright Like the Moon (where he plays a bad man later in the series). But, I also wanted him to have his own show where he was the star, so I had him stalk and kidnap a girl and tie her up in the basement and call her Sunshine. I also wrote a little headcanon about his family, quirks, hobbies and his sleeping habits.

TL;DR: Walter Marshall is Daddy, Lloyd Hansen is Sir. And I need to finish one series before starting another. Maybe I will work on that. *snort*

I have written for a lot of characters, and I'm not gonna stop. I really wanna write so much more and my WIP folder is literally overflowing with things. I just started a new fic like the day I posted the most recent chapter of THiCC. What am I doing??

@deandoesthingstome knows too well I get a little obsessive over some characters - let's see if I can make it to nine (or if I can stop at nine 😁 a look onto my masterlist that's barely a year old tells me we will get there)

Here we go...

My no 1: No surprise here - Mikey

He's my precious silly boy and I will never stop loving him. As part of a family of lunatics here or here, as our best friend, or as the cute neighbor who steals the heart of Nina and Mel

2. Melot

I blame @raccoon-eyed-rebel for introducing me to the slutty lil' braid boy. Just look at that grumpy, miserable little guy. I can't help but thinking about how to make him feel better. That's why he gets the love from not only one but two lovely persons in my Hearts Too Big universe. He's still not quite happy as a vampire in Believe in Me, but I swear we'll get to it.

3. Syverson

Not much of a surprise - how could I not love him? He's the character I read the most this year, for sure. But I also loved to write him into my bonfire story and it's follow up. I was yearning for him and I imagined him as a daddy 🥰

4. Evan

Oh, he was a surprise for me. Even though I liked his character in the movie, I didn't intend to write for him. Until a lovely nonnie put him into my brain and started to fuel my obsession with him here, here and here.

5. Walter

The grumpy bear was always a favorite of me when it came to reading but I was a little scared to write him by myself. In the end, I'm quite happy with the outcome when I finally dared.

6. August Walker

Another one that I love but didn't dare to write. Until it was too tempting to add him as the vampire king in Believe in Me. And then those little pieces of smut here and here with the vampire king were surprisingly easy to write.

7. Napoleon Solo

I love the smooth spy. I had so much fun to pair him up with the lovely Amina and I totally plan to get back to Leon sometime in the future

8. Charles

I wish I had more time to explore his character. I love him so much - especially when he's put into a modern AU. I kinda did this to him as my sidekick for Melot. And I have a wip in my folders, sleeping for way too long, where he's the most annoying and yet adorable duke. I really hope I get to the point where I can introduce him to you.

That's everyone I have written for this year. But I surely don't stop here with obsessing

I won't count Geralt, Will and all the other characters of Henry Cavill because this post is already too long for anyone to read, lol.

But I surely have to count the man himself

9. Henry Cavill

Yes, I am obsessed with this man and I am not sorry! I guess I won't ever get back to the unfinished RPF that got me into writing at all but I will not stop loving the adorkable man that he is.

And then there are still some guys that don't look like Henry:

9. Dean Winchester

I had almost forgotten how much I loved him. Until I introduced the teenager to Supernatural and spent a lot of evenings this year watching that stupid little shit 😍

10. Billy Russo

One of my favorite roles for Ben. And so many good fics out there that I need to explore at some point.

11. Jack Reacher

Very recent addition to the hunks in my head. I love the new season and I'm definitely not immune to that man's visual charms.

I think I will stop here, even if I could name probably another 12...

9. Verna - The Fall of The House of Usher

character of death in human form always has fascinated me. of course carla gugino playing her is major win for everyone.

8. Jinx - Arcane

her character design, mannerisms, vocal cadences, and oh those eyes!!! let me tell you arcane is goat of all of animation history. and imo jinx is the best character in it.

7. Silco - Arcane

cunning and vengeful like a typical villain, but also emotional and vulnerable. and sometimes not so smart and it makes him a better character.

6. Homelander - The Boys

an irredeemable and actually terrifying villain, and anthony starr is perhaps one of the greatest actors of all time. his performance is spine chillingly good and is so fun to watch.

5. Roman Roy - Succession

kieran culkin is very good at the role. roman is a disaster. spoiled rich boy, mommy and daddy complex, court jester, and kicked puppy all swirling together. and i love him for it.

4. Kendall Roy - Succession

oh kendall. i relate to him so much. come to think of it, kendall and aegon ii have so many profound parallels.

3. Alicent Hightower - House of the Dragon

my heart aches for her. she deserved so much better.

2. Aemond Targaryen - House of the Dragon

need i say anything?

1. Aegon II Targaryen - House of the Dragon

there is so much i could say about him and how much i feel for this character. he is 90% of my thoughts. of course tgc playing him is a big part of the character ‘s charm. but i love canon aegon ii just as much.

Of course, I'm gonna have to start with my superstar, my baby, my one true love, my boy. This idiot fucknugget right here:

Mike.

He managed to appear in 3/7 series and 14/24 oneshots I wrote this year.

Mike is my chameleon, appearing as a vet student/barista, a bartender, your annoying neighbor and the sweetest boyfriend - to name a few.

And, of course, he's also one of my favorite boys in @geralts-yenn's Hearts Too Big universe.

I'm gonna go with August 'Pornstache' Walker.

Not because he appeared in many of the fics I've written, but because I love him and his 70's adult movie face-furniture so fucking much it hurts.

He's one of my favorite vampires, and he's Daddy AF.

He also appears in @deandoesthingstome's masterpiece Holiday Angel — where he's literally Daddy AF.... Your best friend's daddy. Shameful. Delicious.

Walter Marshall.

His grumpiness is ubiquitous, yet oddly versatile.

Over the past year, he's appeared as a grumpy college guy with his head stuck so far up his ass it almost needed surgical removal, a grumpy barista with a love for poetry (and @deandoesthingstome, eh... I mean... reader), a great Dom who loves to tie you up, and the best older brother.

I think that's it! See you again next year!

@itbmojojoejo thinks I have a minimum of 9 obsessions to speak of. Let's see if she's right:

1. To my surprise: Walter Marshall

I started my year finishing Night Moves with Walter, drooled over (and begged for) both grumpy barista! and roadtrip threeway!Walter, then let him take me under the moon as werewolf!Walter. So yeah. Walter.

2. Syverson. Also, no surprises here.

Whether in Walk with Me, or as part of that aforementioned roadtrip, or chasing me through a labyrinth I could never really abandon my first love. Big Sy. (Oh, don't forget those little love letters at the start of what could be, a little beachy fantasy from an existing relationship, or that couples swap in Welcoming Committee. Oof! Maybe he's still number 1.)

3. Speaking of couples swap: August Walker. Also found treating me wrongfully right in Walk with Me, as well as romancing my gothic heart at the hotel. This guy. For sure.

4. If we're just going by writing, Geralt has to make the grade. What a fun experience he was this year. Waiting, wandering, wishing for more...

5. Mike was a gas, too.

6. Again, going by output alone, the man himself has to make the grade, maybe even in front of Mike. I doubt I'll ever write another RPF with him again, but the fantasy was sweet while it lasted.

7. Finan. I don't write about him anymore but I sure do love to look at him.

Okay, that's actually way more than I expected. I figured 3 at most. But it's pretty clear where my head is usually. Thanks for the tag, Mojo!

1. Alex Claremont-Díaz (RWRB)

i wish i could explain to you the deep connection i have to this fictional man. he is me and i am him. he probably has been my favorite character since i first found him on 2021 (which is the longest hyperfixation ive ever had, funnily enough) and has actually shaped me to be more confident in myself and all that mushy stuff, so yeah, im just missing a henry kinnie that wants to put up with this mess.

2. Percy Jackson (Riordanverse)

i binge read pjo and hoo these last months, and the way ive become attached to this kid is something else. i want to protect him from anything.

3. Nico di Angelo (Riordanverse)

like with percy, i became attached to him from the moment he showed up, and i would protect him with my life even from rick riordan. he cant do no wrong ever.

4. Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor (RWRB)

henry has specially gained a piece in my heart lately, but i have to be honest, when i first read about him, i thought nothing of him more than the perfect companion and love interest in alex's story. i have to say that getting a glance to his mind through both the bonus chapter and really fucking good fics gave me the insight i needed to comprehend him: his actions, his motivations, and everything in between that made him who he is and made me realize how many things we have in common and how many things i could learn from him, which is always a beautiful experience

5. June Claremont-Díaz (RWRB)

theres nothing i wouldnt do for her. even though i absolutely HATE how i wrote the fic that has june's pov, im still in the process of learning about her and comprehending her more. still, she reminds me so much of my own sister, even though i should kin her more than alex because of the whole sapphic latina journalist who loves her sibling very much, even when they annoy the shit out of you, but alas, im a younger sister and june has so much vibes of my own sister except with my tastes, so yeah, nothing i wouldnt do for her

6. Iris West-Allen (The Flash TV)

in case you didnt know this about me, i had a not-so-recent hyperfixation on the flash (and it can absolutely be seen in my sky high au), and she was half the reason of it. i wish i could put into words how much i fucking love her in every sense of the word. like, i'm in love with her but i also want her to be happy and protected at all costs and i would do anything for her to actually get those things. she can also step on me and i would thank her, but that is unrelated

7. Annabeth Chase (Riordanverse)

what you dont get is that for her i would become like a rabid feral gremlin or maybe that dog that takes a sword in its mouth and starts swinging carelessly. thats how ready i am to protect her from absolutely everything, even spiders, no matter how fucking scared i am of them

8. Imogen Heaney (Heartstopper TV)

yes, i am absolutely biased because the actress also has t1d and my hc is that now imogen also has t1d, but also because i, too, affirmed with my whole chest how i was an ally and totally straight and then slowly realized i was sapphic bc of one cute girl in my friend group that called me out on my bs 💀

9. Barry Allen (The Flash TV)

yes, we dont acknowledge that other version by that other actor. yes, he's last because i had a love-hate relationship with the way he was written. but season 8!barry became one of my favorite versions of him, and i absolutely thank grant (the actor) for the way he made me love the character once again

i missed so many characters that i love but just not like i love these ones. the only one who could easily take barry's place on the list would be nick nelson my absolute beloved, but since flash tv ended this year, it had me in my feelings and i couldn't not put him there, so yeah

DISCLAIMER: i am at the moment reading trials of apollo (im just like 1/4 of the first book) and if somebody spoils me anything i WILL become a rabid feral gremlin, this is your only warning, thank you very much.

Renfield (Renfield 2023)

OBVIOUSLY pookie was gonna be the number one for this year. I have over 30 fics of this brainworm of a human being, this wet cat kicked puppy submissive-like-a-guard-dog-is-submissive looking ass. EATS HIM WHOLE

2. Dracula (All Iterations)

The king of vampires comes in tandem with his subservient little worm, though he might be upset that he's second in my list. Between listening to the Audiobook of Dracula, listening to Re: Dracula, watching Renfield (2023), Dracula (1931), Count Dracula (1977), Van Helsing (2004), Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023).... I'm just so overwhelmingly in love with the character in all iterations, and have learned a lot about the man he was based on, too

3. Art the Clown (Terrifier)

He was the end of 2022's obsession that carried into 2023, and I still love this stupid fucking clown SO so much still

4. Jonathan Sims (The Magnus Archives)

The podcast that grabbed me by the throat and commanded all of my attention for a few good months, its hard not to have grown attached to the Archivist himself ♥

2023 CHARACTER WRAPPED

Thanks for the tag @prodogg!

Here are my top characters this year.

1. N I played Pokemon White and White 2 early this year for the first time and was really invested by his story. I even broke out of my art dry spell back in spring by drawing him, but it's still a wip. To me, he symbolized moving on from old chapters of your life and starting new ones.

2. Lusamine I also got into the Alola Pokemon games this year (though I didn't play them) and really liked her as a tragic villain. I think she deserves to heal from her past and make amends with her children.

3. Elizabeth Swann I've always loved her character, but this summer I got back into writing my AU fic about her and really enjoyed delving into her character.

4. Volo I played Pokemon Legends Arceus back in January this year, and Volo's one of my two favorite NPCs from the game. I was indifferent to him at first, but he ended up playing a very important role in the storyline, and his character captivated me.

5. Ingo He's my other favorite NPC in PLA. I loved how he was in the same situation as the player character, being brought to the game's region from a different time. And it felt like he had a nice mentor-mentee relationship with my protag.

6. Azula Azula will always make my list of top characters, though I wasn't very focused on ATLA this year. Still, it got revived when the new comic came out.

9. Adam Groff - Sex Education

He obviously didn't start out as a great character in the show but I absolutely loved his character development during season 3 and 4 and his storyline was one of the only ones I liked in the end.

8. Aimee - Sex Education

I just want to have a best friend like Aimee ♥

7. Daemon Targaryen - House of the Dragon

Matt Smith's portrayal and understanding of this character just makes him so much more compelling and interesting than he already is. And his bond with Caraxes is just so special to me.

6. Rhaenyra Targaryen - House of the Dragon

I just want Rhaenyra to be my mother ♥

5. Osferth - The Last Kingdom

One of my ultimate comfort characters ♥

4. Alicent Hightower - House of the Dragon

She deserves the world. And I also want her to be my mum ♥

3. Aegon II Targaryen - House of the Dragon

Obviously, I do not like all the horrible things he's done. Still, I cannot help but sympathise with him in a way. His character arc during the Dance is everything and Tom Glynn-Carney's plays him so well.

2. Tom Bennett - World on Fire

He's a bloody nuisance and also annoyingly hot.

Aemond Targaryen - House of the Dragon

Ewan Mitchell as Aemond stole all of our hearts and changed our lives forever. This role made me fall in love with him - Ewan aswell as Aemond.

2023 CHARACTER WRAPPED

Thank you my beloved(s) @black-dread @lonnson @aemondsbabe @sylasthegrim for this tag 💜

☆ Loki returns because I have mutuals who have been reblogging stories or have written masterful pieces (@/poetic-fiasco you specifically) and it made me remember my love for him.

☆ King Alfred. His character arc was wild, from him being a ho to so sexual repressed, it allowed a certain spice to be added to his every exchange with Uhtred... and I loved it.😆

☆ Lucia Aurelius [I Am The Villain, Webtoon]. I am obsessed with the art style, it is definitely my favorite comic for the year for me. It is a reused concept, but its pacing and narrative have me enthralled and I am just cheering for my girl 😭

☆ Freddie Mercury. I feel weird to place him, but it needs a mention since I dove into the BoRap fandom 5 years late and have fallen in love with this remarkable human being. This is because of his characterization by the talented Rami Malek and the literary creations by the masterful @inthedayswhenlandswerefew.

☆ Penelope Featherington. Her struggle between trying to become her own woman, while struggling with her unrequited for now crush and her own independence is relatable.

☆ Literally anyone from the One Piece live action. I am putting Mihawk cause he is pretty and cunty, but the whole damn cast, from MCs to side characters, was fucking amazing. I personally adored every episode, but please note that I have never seen the anime nor while I ever watch it as we are 1100+ episodes into it and I do not have the attention span.

☆ Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Returning to break my heart all over again.

☆ Aemond Targaryen. We knew he would be on this damn list. I love Ewan's portrayal of him and I loved the hot mess Aemond is in Fire & Blood. I am ready for season 2, whatever may come.

☆ I am stealing this from @/lonnson and putting the Coccham Gang up as well. The Last Kingdom was my favorite series I indulged with and I have rewatched it quite a bit.
