Looking back over a decade of content:
You never really got to know me and this blogs around 5 years old.
I've been around online for a while but this is my most known and last active account now.
2011: A literal child - making shitty lego stopmotion videos now long lost on YT servers. I would paint mini-figures cause I couldn't get new sets at the time.
2014-2016: - Sevoss/Sevok/Sevokiam (original alias I deleted years ago): My FNAF and MLP years
Music to set the mood:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
During the peaks of the MLP fandom I found out about SFM. There's a handful of more posters from back then, might post more if people are interested.
I got out of the fandom around high school starting and with the decline of the show I deleted my account. I still have some fond memories of the early community though but needed to move on.
2016-2018 (lost years): Learned some game design stuff and moved around a lot. Stopping me from posting anything for a few years, leaving most of the work in my sketchbooks.
Tumblr media
2019: First post on Cryptiam with P5:ECv1 entirely made up of retextured TS4 outfits. Likely this was the pack many of you found me from over the years. The pack itself was first made over a few months, with later additions.

2020: The end of the world I once knew.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2023: I learned how to convert the models to TS4 and set out on finishing my 4 year goal of bringing Persona to The Sims.
Tumblr media
2024: I soft-retired from being a Sims 4 CC Creator. I still do the odd cc project though.
Things will inevitably change content-wise, as you've already seen in this post.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my past a bit.

Masterpiece thats all I gonna say it a masterpiece of confession and bath scene. Lol
Also I just remember when I read in the bath scene that y/n thought is she is approaching Gun like those shady back ally service, I just thought on the soapgirls [soaplands/sopu-jyo] (you can search it and I read a manga about it)
Damn all I think on how I want to bath together with Gun and how I want lean his muscle in the bathtub. I just wanna feel those muscles.
Spice basically turn into sweet dessert that I enjoy since it been awhile that you update. (Sorry can't make the chap 2 lol. My laptop have buzzing sound when it start so I need to check it up if there is any problem with it and also college)
Gun mentioning about the morning after care pill and having his baby made my chuckled then y/n saying that he doesn't need to as she been drinking birth control pills.
Somehow I get the feeling that he is alittle disappointed that y/n won't have his babies early but still excited that he can just goes his ways to y/n without worrying LOL.
Lemme guess next chap will have spice again noh? Also I kinda curious in the past ask I made that you basically confirm that Gun may have the Box of toys gifted by Goo. I wonder if it will appear as one of the kink in a chapters.
AGHHHH TY SAM FOR ALWAYS WRITING A CHAPTER REVIEW FOR RENDEZVOUS!! I'm always so eager to see what you thought of whenever you read a chapter. 😊❤️
Oh my god, YES. THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING OF WHEN I WROTE THAT PART ABOUT THOSE ENTERTAINMENT WORKERS IN KABUKICHO (a.k.a. for anyone who doesn't know, Tokyo's well-known Red Light Entertainment District located in Shinjuku). AH, "SOAP-GIRLS" 😭 I FORGOT WHAT THE ACTUAL TERM WAS FOR THESE WORKERS, BUT THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME!
Fun Fact: How I heard about Soap-Land was from an old video I watched on 88rising's channel back in 2018, when Joji was starting to promote more of his music and he mentioned to Lil Yachty that he should visit more of the "weirder" parts of Tokyo, which was LITERALLY Soap-Land. 💀 Here's the part below at 1:20 where Joji mentions Soap-Land and explains what it is. ⬇️ (NSFW IMAGERY)
youtube
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 💀💀💀 Ah yes, we all want to get a feel of Gun's muscles, don't we? Especially, in the bath tub. 😩💦
Ah gee, it really has been a while huh? 😭 To be frank, I quite enjoyed writing the transitions from rough and hardcore, to soft and affectionate smut scenes. 😆 I believe that, if the chapters always display aggressive scenes, then it'll be too repetitive and the story will eventually get boring imo. (Because I also want to follow the plot of what I had in mind for this story, and not just produce smut for no reason.) Honestly, my main focus is on the story and not just the smut but I'm glad that you guys enjoy them. 😳💗 (Is ok Sam, I understand. As much as I want to read Ch. 2 of your Gun x Y/N Nun story, I'll always remain patient and wait for it if you suddenly decide to or if you're able to continue writing it. I STILL HAVE HOPE!! 😩😩👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Also, I know college can be a pain too so that's understandable.)
BAHAHAAHSHDFSDFSLDKFSL MAN, THAT PART HAD ME CACKLING LATE AT NIGHT WHEN I DECIDED TO WRITE THAT LINE. 💀💀💀💀💀💀 God, I still have tears to this day just from laughing at that. 😖 My sense of humor? Peak. 👌🏽 Kidding. I'm the biggest idiot ever.
In all honesty, if he looks back at that memory, he would be a bit upset that (Y/N) turned him down on wanting to conceive his child. 😭 Gun's immediate thought would be, "How dare she not want to have my child. Does that woman not know how INVINCIBLE our child could have been? Our son/daughter could have had everything! Good looks, undefeatable strength, and THE Copy Ability!! Tch, forget searching for my own successor. My child WILL be the successor." And then (Y/N) would eventually stop him like, "Ohhh no you don't! I won't let you turn our kid into one of your little Power Rangers!" 💀 But man, he'd definitely get his way with her. What's scary is the possible thought of forcing her to have his child. Like for instance, he might approach her one day and say, "You're going to have my child no matter what." Poor (Y/N) is just going to look at him confused like, "Um... what?" 🤨 and then BABY BOOM! 😩😩😩 (I'm guessing this is where his breeding kink comes in.)
Teehee... maybe, maybe not. 😏 Ohhhhhhh boyyyyyyy. Now, THAT will be fun to write about! I'll be doing a lot of brainstorming these next few days. I'm excited to write the next chapter!! 👀
ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU SAM FOR THE AMAZING CHAPTER REVIEW!! *MWAH* 💋 I HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!! 🥰🥰🥰

Wait hold on wasn't 3rd gen 2012-2017??? And 4th gen was 2018-2023?? But anyways gotta agree with you i think 2016 was also the peak of k-pop music like they dropped the cuntiest tracks that year (read: the 7th sense by NCT U)

TYLA - "WATER"
youtube
We conclude our 2023 pop highlights reel with a true highlight for us. Stay tuned next week for our individual writers' picks!
[8.12]
Crystal Leww: Amapiano has felt like a vital part of dance music education for a while now -- Ballantine's was sponsoring Boiler Room shows in South Africa back in 2018, Major League DJz collabed with Major Lazer, Uncle Waffles is playing mega EDM clubs like Brooklyn Mirage, and you can catch regular amapiano club nights in East Asia. It might seem surprising that this house subgenre has inspired so many people to party to it, with its lower BPM and jazzy feeling, but amapiano shows are energy -- all about that feeling of locking in a groove all night. Tyla's "Water" is the genre's first true pop moment, and it captures the je nais se quoi of the dance music subgenre incredibly well -- it's actually sexy. It feels like sweat on sweat, bodies bouncing against each other, hands gripping waists, hips swaying, a private moment in a very public place. That feeling, combined with a killer vocal hook, makes "Water" easy to like even as it approaches peak saturation. [7]
Leah Isobel: "Fuck me so hard I can't walk straight"? Boring. "Fuck me so hard I literally transmute into the source of life"? Now we're talking. [8]
Joshua Minsoo Kim: The most transformative quote I read this year was from Canadian filmmaker Ellie Epp: "Receiving a touch is as active as giving it -- sometimes more active, more skilled and more consequential. Erotic attention isn't an empty bowl touch is poured or pushed into; it is more like a living antenna with a million fibers actively searching the space of the touch for its shape and meaning." "Water" puts that idea into a song. Never the amapiano purist, Tyla has taken the genre's log drum loops and flagellating synths and placed them into the framework of Westernized R&B. And yet, this has the spirit of a longform, South African dance track because of her smooth vocals -- they ensure it remains undemanding but seductive. The chorus is one of the year's most celebratory: a group chant extolling the desire to feel desire. [9]
Michelle Myers: Tyla performs yearning with expert sensuality. Piano keys flutter around her like songbirds around a sad, horny Disney princess. [7]
David Moore: At the beginning of the year, I had a moment of clarity -- Rihanna needs to make an amapiano album. Then the thought faded, because (1) that's not really how amapiano works, the idea of having an R&B personality commanding the groove doesn't really let you groove; (2) that's not really how Rihanna works, it is a mistake to even think of Rihanna as a pop star in 2023; and (3) god, it could be so fucking awful, couldn't it, GET A JOB, etc. But Tyla stepped up to the plate, subsuming amapiano elements in the service of her performance at the center of an R&B song, but keeping amapiano's spiritual sense that every song is perpetually in media res; a song could start anywhere and go anywhere (or nowhere) and in some sense never end. Water is the perfect image, too: more fluid than the glassy surfaces of Naija pop and Afrobeats, but less opaque than amapiano's immersive haze. The song is pitched as sexy, which it sort of is, but there's a serenity in it, some cosmic comfort in knowing that someone's really figured it out, that this is exactly what it's supposed to sound like on those rare occasions you turn the radio on. [9]
William John: Initially, "Water" seemed innocuous compared to the frenetic, Tricky Stewart-assisted "Been Thinking", or the colossal amapiano classic "Getting Late"; it didn't scream "breakthrough" to me. I quickly came to understand that its popularity with butt-shaking TikTokers and the general public alike was more than warranted, the hook and irresistible drum roll burrowing its way into every one of my brain's recesses. [8]
Katherine St Asaph: Most of "Water" is so perfectly crystalline and intimate, such a rarefied fount of sound, that the loud singalong chorus is like a rock in the flow of the stream, breaking the spell a little. But only a little. [8]
Wayne Weizhen Zhang: Tyla's voice is so diaphanous and airy, it's a shame that the hook is drowned out by an unnecessary chorus. (Don't get me started on the Travis Scott remix.) [6]
Brad Shoup: I love the chorus as much for what it says--I'm not sure sweating has even sounded so effortless--as for its, well, choral quality. It's like spiritual jazz nestled in lovers rock. [8]
Frank Falisi: There's so much to celebrate in the slip, wash, and sway of "Water." There's the way it mixes the insistence of beat with melty gobs of just-kissed electric piano, something driving the body, something touching it surprised. There's the way it waves the drone of a heartthrob at the perfect form of a pop song, wanting to please, pleasing to want. There's so much that I'll just say: the half-second delay in the chorus--between "make me" and then "sweat," "holler," "lose," and especially "water"... it makes me feel in love, and at ease in not having love, but finding its symbols and acolytes in the changes of a song, a little wait, a little get. [9]
Kayla Beardslee: This is actually my least favorite of Tyla's singles in the past year ("Been Thinking"? An incredible star-making slay. "To Last"? Gorgeous. "Girl Next Door" with Ayra Starr? Two of my favorite rising pop artists coming together for a lovely collaboration.) But "least favorite" is just a technicality in the face of strong competition, and "Water" still drips with charisma, promise, and a killer hook. I only wish I hadn't found out that Tyla was touring with Chris Brown earlier this year. [7]
Ian Mathers: This is a great performance and a heck of a debut, but the thing my ear keeps focusing on and what has me nodding my head are (what a very confused "what is this called?" search informs me are) the rim clicks running throughout "Water." Really it's the way those dry little sounds propel and work against the grain of the rest of the song, rather than one isolated element, but that's what I keep going back to here. [8]
Alfred Soto: The rim clicks act as foundation and another harmonic element next to which the clarity of Tyla's voice can shine -- and these happen before the choir. [8]
Michael Hong: One of the many striking features of "Water" is how solid it feels. Tyla's verses and its beat prove to be malleable, yet the chorus is made up of dense layers. "Make me water," she demands, sexy, only because it's a challenge. [8]
Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: A perfect groove, but more than that, too. Tyla's vocal sashays around the pulses of the beat, drawing up into an exquisite lift as she sings "can you blow my mind" -- like many of her lines here it's at once a question, an exhortation, and a challenge. Like, can you blow her mind? For the length of "Water," Tyla sounds utterly implacable, a singer with such intimate knowledge of her own skills and the affordances of the beat that it reads as something supernatural. Let me live forever in the spaces of this song. [10]
Nortey Dowuona: The power of amapiano is that it feels light and nimble in the drum programming, gently twirling below whatever is going on the song and allowing you to melt into the mood and spin along to the rhythm. At every stage of its ride to worldwide popularity, it's become gentler and softer, until the heavy logdrum bass hammers down, rippling the tranquility and reminding you of the tempest below. That dissonance is what makes it exciting and engaging, but the fun part of "Water" is that it keeps that tempest at bay, allowing anyone to wade into it. Tyla is a graduate of the Aaliyah/Rihanna light key school, a lilting soprano that comfortably soars into her highest range and stabilizes at her lowest, opening the first verse on a proud, firm step and settling into it. Each run into the precious prechorus is poised, capable and stunning. And whenever the familiar logdrum pattern does erupt, Tyla dances nimbly away, her voice light yet stable enough to not be overpowered, fluid and ever-changing and so fundamental it can't be separated without killing the song altogether. Just like water. [10]

Songs for Early Autumn
Look, LOOK, I know that it is literally still August, but the weather this summer has been so bad that I am ready for all the leaves to fall off the trees and to go to a pumpkin patch again. I am writing this as a storm starts and the rain falls heavily over the garden beneath the balcony. The thunder begins to rage louder and that starts to scare me because I hate hearing loud noises that I am waiting for. I put my noise cancelling headphones on to drown out the noise. At first, I started to listen to a Podcast. It was Emma Chamberlain's Anything Goes series where she's discussing the concept of living in Los Angeles. The thing is I hear all the time about how good Podcasts are when you need background noise while you focus on something else, but I found it unbearable to listen to. It made my brain fog up, as if hearing someone else speak meant I needed to focus all my attention on what they're talking about, even if they are essentially saying nothing. So I swapped back to listening to music and I already feel so much clearer ??? I feel like I want to listen to Podcasts if only they weren't so distracting for me.
Anyway kinda back to my point. This selection of songs that I wanted to feature is very much directed for the girlies who watch Gilmore Girls (or maybe not I have actually never watched the show), adore the aesthetic of the Autumn and perhaps enjoy a pumpkin spice latte. I promise this list will not simply contain Sweater Weather by The Nbd; but let me just create a visual representation for the type of vibe I'm trying to go for here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I took all these pictures from Pinterest btw, even made a whole new account just so I didn't have to Google search stuff like 'autumn aesthetic we heart it'
Without any further ado, here are the songs:
Reaper - AS YOU SOW (2018)* The Cardigans - My Favourite Game (1998) Francis Lai - Un Homme Et Une Femme (1966) Miley Cyrus x Stevie Nicks - Edge of Midnight (2020) Kate Bush - The Wedding List (1980) MOTHXR - Touch (2016) Mareux - The Perfect Girl (2021) Rendez Vous - Sentimental Animal (2018) High Sunn - Ramen Waitress (2017) Nicolas Jaar - No One Is Looking At U (2015) Shygirl x Bjork - Woe (I See It From Your Side) (2023) Still Corners - Midnight Drive (2013) Jeff Buckley - So Real (1994) Eleven Pond - Watching Trees Bedroom Mix (2012) Gang Of Youths - What Do I Do If The Fire Goes Out? (2017) Weyes Blood - Andromeda (2019) Boa - Twilight (2001) Twin Peaks - Making Breakfast (2014) BLOXX - Novocain (2016) Anika - He Hit Me (2010) Bat For Lashes - What's A Girl To Do? (2006) King Krule - Dum Surfer (2017) Wolf Alice - Sadboy (2017) Moses Gunn Collective - Dream Girls (2016) Le Tigre - Phanta (1999) Chargaux x Soft Glas - Lullaby (2014)* BLAISE MOORE - Yyz (2016) Crystal Castles - Year of Silence (2010)
*A couple of these songs mentioned in the list are no longer available on streaming platforms and upon further search, it seems the two artists whose music is not online anymore is due to removal of all of their music. However, I have found some Soundcloud links to the tracks and they are also still available on YouTube.
Happy listening to my playlist for the season and hopefully I will remember to do things like this more frequently.

For no other reason than because I think about them a lot, my not-in-order top 5 songs that should have made it to Eurovision but ripped my heart in half instead Electric Fields - 2000 and whatever
youtube
I'm pretty sure this song exists outside of the space-time continuum I feel like Australia in Eurovision either goes very sleak or absolute circus, and what's in between kinda gets lost on the way This one was fresh, flowy, very millennial in a way, also hearing bits of australian aboriginal languages in ESC would have been hella cool Madara - Esamība
youtube
If you've ever stumbled upon my blog in 2018 you may know how mad I was that Latvia didn't choose this (and no deep crush on Laura Rizzotto ever managed to heal that anger asdfghjkl) This is just one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard :" It's existential, it's symbolic, it's ethereal, it has a slow but mighty fine build-up, and plus it was composed on that wonderful cello sound, which, AHHHHHH Loreen - Statements
youtube
At this point I get it, in Melodifestivalen songs need to be awesome "on the spot", because its audience doesn't really like to have to think about them more than once to understand them This probably sounds insulting lol but I think it's just a big cultural difference (I don't think it's a coincidence that there was a part of the Italian fandom who actually did root for this at the time, it was much more up their alley than Euphoria ever had any chance to be) The choral, deeply meaningful performance, the raw power in her voice, the historical references...this was never going to win Mello, in hindsight it was clear to see, but I'm still glad Loreen brought it to life and showed she isn't just cool beats and dancey vibes KEiiNO - Monument
youtube
This isn't even a scar, it's an open wound and it's still bleeding :" They didn't have to be in the 2021 line-up to win, they had to be in it because 2021 was the strongest year since 1991 and they were literally the only great thing missing from it and deserved to be there to make it even stronger Hands down the one that hurt the most out of all of these Tosca - Il terzo fuochista
youtube
I am cheating a little bit with this one because this competed in Sanremo 2007, so even if it had won it wouldn't have gone to ESC anyway because we were still on voluntary exile :" 2007 was my first Sanremo, I was just a kid and this mesmerized me to the point it has lived in my head ever since, there's only Tosca singing it but it's basically a choral reenactment of a typical italian country fair that culminates in fireworks (yes you could say this song is literally about fireworks AND feelings lol it can be done Salvador!) This is a peak of musical creativity that Sanremo, even in its mostly recurring attention to quality, doesn't reach very often My favourite Sanremo song ever

MONTHLY MEDIA: July 2022
And so continues the year. Seven months down, five to go. And then I guess we just start over again?
……….FILM……….
Tumblr media
The Last of Sheila (1973) Can’t recommend enough. Did you like Knives Out? See this. Did you like Clue? See this. It’s so good and multiple times I wondered how there was still so much movie left, only to go “oh of course!” Really great stuff.
Tumblr media
Nope (2022) Something about the trailer gave me Signs vibes but turns out it was more like E.T. and Jaws; big Spielberg energy with the music and adventure vibes. Not a tidy package the same was that Get Out was but in reading other perspectives I realize I was being too literal. This movie has visual metaphors for days and big fan overall.
The Heroic Trio (1993) One of the rare times where I will sincerely say something goes hard. This movie goes HARD. In one scene a character drives an out-of-control motorcycle up a wall then kicks it at her enemy. That enemy then defends himself by splitting the spinning motorcycle in half! And that’s in the span of like...2 minutes. I was consistently surprised by what I was seeing on screen and wholeheartedly recommend. Probably not for everyone but if you like the first 15 minutes then you’re in for a ride. If you ARE going to watch it, don’t watch the trailer as it spoils so many fun surprises.
Tumblr media
Phantom of the Paradise (1974) This hit all the right buttons for me. Plot moves at a breezy pace, the songs are all incredible, the visuals felt just one notch beyond reality, and Beef can do no wrong. Big fan.
The Sparks Brothers (2021) I remember being overwhelmed when I first saw Sparks’ catalog but this documentary would’ve been so helpful in knowing where to start. Appropriately playful and I hope it continues to help introduce new people to their music.
Tumblr media
Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) Really stunning and there were moments/choices that really clicked for me, but I found myself bored during a lot of it. Maybe it’s the pacing or general structure but I feel like I would’ve enjoyed it more if it was under 2 hours.
Bo Burnham: Inside (2021) My limited exposure to the special (mostly a few songs on TikTok) didn’t prepare me for how sad this was going to be. I think I’m glad I didn’t see this during the peak of lockdowns. A really vulnerable meditation on the creative process.
……….TELEVISION……….
Tumblr media
The Bachelorettes (Episode 19.01 to 19.04) This new format is really working for me: lots of good moments of friendship, a nice balance of highs and lows for the leads, and just the shake up I think the franchise needs. Now to try it out with the bachelors.
The Deuce (Episode 1.01 to 1.08) The Franco twins were a little distracting (though well done) and overall, a good season of television. It didn’t completely hook me (I’d go long stretches between episodes and didn’t really feel compelled to continue) but it tells a satisfying story in a visually interesting setting. Not bad at all.
Fleabag (Episode 2.01 to 2.06) Ugh I’m so sad this is over, though I adore a piece of media that knows what it wants to say and wraps up after it’s said it. The Priest’s character, and how the meta elements of the show play in, are just so great. Ugh I love this show!
……….READING……….
Tumblr media
Getting It: A Guide to Hot, Healthy Hookups and Shame-Free Sex by Allison Moon (Complete) Just a really healthy breakdown and summary, you know? The topics and lessons covered in here are as applicable to platonic relationships as they are to intimate ones: understanding boundaries, effective communication, etc.
The Michael Moorcock Library: The Chronicles of Corum Vol. 1: The Knight of Swords by Mike Baron and MIke Mignola (Complete) These visual recreations of classic sword & sworcery books are such a good idea. My gut tells me I wouldn’t click with the original books so It’s a great way to connect with older stories in an accessible way. Also interesting to see the components that influenced early D&D adventures.
……….AUDIO……….
Tumblr media
Stankonia by Outkast (2000) Going back to a classic.
Love to See It with Emma and Claire (Podcast) With the return of the Bachelorette comes the return of this podcast. Perfectly compliment.
……….GAMING……….
Tumblr media
Neverland: A Fantasy Role-Playing Setting (Andrews McMeel Publishing) One group is currently pursuing a player character’s ties to the Fairy realm, while another group just made a deal with a Fairy (and got a gold hand in exchange) so lots of Fairy-related shenanigans this month! If you want to read any of my recaps, they’re over here.
And that’s it! As always, feel free to share recommendations and happy Monday!

🌼 they are my little chew toys, so I draw them at literally every age ever. Usually though they're around 17-25? ish. few months age gap usually to like. 5 years sometimes. 👍
🥊 Minho hates. he hates. hes a little hater all he likes doing is sleeping and looking out the window and watching creatures when hes outside. He loves the whimsy but doesn't believe in it. Rinnie plays/ed hockey for a while thats sort of his thing, he has fun. He really doesn't hate anything, or more can't hate anything? He's very if I'm positive about it things'll work out! It has to happen anyway! That being said cooking is stressful scary dont like it.
Tumblr media
🎹 Minho makes music! I know very little about music so. I dont draw this a lot but it's a big thing for him :) And then Rinnie knits, but he's a very stressed out everything is hard any time not spent on the grind is time wasted kind of guy, which means. he doesn't hobby loads.
✂️ When I say they're my chew toys... in the zombie au which im like. really into rn. when it happens minho loses a lot of people fast which sucks ass for him. and then rinnie. when his love gets sick <3 oTL If you had a specific ver in mind. sorry.
🧠 This is a hard one I just love them oTL My favourite thing about Minho... hes. cute <3 hes pretty. and mean. love that in a man. Rinnie is just a very comforting figure hes like. everything. hes cozy and nice and warm <3
🎓 oh wait i think i still have my first drawings of them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
uhm T.T this is. rinnie. i guess. from 2018 this was his birth. and then. agh the second one is only from 2020 ! ? Ive been on that grind huh. this is definitely not my first drawing of minho bc he was made in peak kpop era (2018-2019) but was all I could find 👍theyre. 5ish year old now god. but theyre barely the same people too.

hellooo merryana ☺ do you have any favorite rom-coms?
oh HELLO! i very much do 🥰
leap year (2010) - god-tier rom com. has all the best tropes, does them to perfection AND has amy adams. this is the romcom by which i measure all others. what more do you want?
broken hearts gallery (2020) - this movie makes me cry for no other reason than it makes me so so happy and there's not a single thing i don't love about it. (other than the two leads being aussies and having to pretend to be american)
george of the jungle (1997) - everyone talks about brendan frazer in this movie as they should but never forget leslie mann is literally the most loveable woman in this. also they have insane chemistry they're so in love and so funny
top end wedding (2019) - classic culture clash rom com written by and starring Aboriginal actor Miranda Tapsel, about a Blak woman who comes back home to marry her white boyfriend only to find her mum has disappeared. really beautiful!!
destination wedding (2018) - winona ryder and keanu reeves play two cynics who argue their way into being in love while at a mutual frenemy's wedding. its very much a movie that runs more like a play, but the dialogue is SO FUNNY. and winona and keanu have such great chemistry.
watching the detectives (2007) - lucy liu plays cillian murphy's manic pixie NIGHTMARE femme fatale. this movie is a perfect noughties nostalgia comedy that also pokes fun at film bros with unrealistic expectations of women. excellent.
single all the way (2021) - i genuinely loved this gay christmas rom com so much its so funny and all the tropes were done so well.
love birds (2011) - this new zealand rom com about how a man adopting a duck helps him meet the love of his life, a woman played by sally hawkins, is literally one of the most wholesome romcoms in the universe.
ali's wedding (2017) - aussie rom com about 2 muslims falling in love by accident. top tier pining. top tier longing!
the princess diaries 2 (2004) - i say this with zero irony. this is one of the most romantic films ever made. the comedy is wholesome and the romance is genuinely compelling. i think about princess mia and her husband nicholas everyday
roman holiday (1953) - its a classic for a REASON. its literally so SO lovely (ignoring the classic hollywood age gap). its the blueprint for so much of the modern romcom films.
much ado about nothing (2011) - speaking of blueprint, shakespeare literally wrote the perfect romcom when he wrote this shit and the 2011 production starring catherine tate and david tennant is much ado at its PEAK.
friends with benefits (2011) - on paper this movie has no business being good but fuck it!! it is! justin timberlake and mila kunis remain one of my fave on screen pairs ever. this script is really funny even though some parts of it are a little dated but damn it i love this movie!!
saving face (2004) - there aren't many lesbian rom coms that are good and genuinely funny. this is one of them!
music and lyrics (2007) - i just love drew barrymore and hugh grant in this movie they're so funny and every single conversation they have is gold. the music industry comedy commentary in this movie is also so funny!
none of these movies are perfect and all have their hiccups but they're also so powerful they make me wanna love the concept of being in-love, a concept i find genuinely terrifying. so enjoy!

I think tumblr ate my ask or it just didn't sent but what are your favorite Bastille songs / what are some songs you recommend?
i did NOT get this ask im very sorry anon.
it's genuinely hard for me to narrow down cause bastille is pretty up there in terms of favorite artists. i love all their shit, but a special mention goes out to their second studio album wild world since it's the one that made me a Fan
uh so here's a primer i guess i spent too much time on this lmao.
if you wanna listen to their big hits:
flaws - their first single in the uk. if you ever listened to ship playlists on 8tracks in like 2013-2015 then you've probably heard this song or a variant on it at some point.
pompeii - this is the song that really put them on the map and you definitely know it. it dominated the charts all over the place.
happier - the marshmello song that you've definitely heard before too. i think bastille wrote this for justin bieber or some shit but then decided they liked it too much to give it to him? lmao. anyway if you're not digging the version you hear on the radio all the time i recommend trying the stripped down version
good grief - their big hit off their second album. big in the uk, didn't really make as many waves elsewhere, but it's a really solid song anyway. one of those "upbeat tunes that's actually really fucking sad" ones
things we lost in the fire - another one off their first album. if you live in a wildfire area this might not be one to turn to. or maybe you'll find it cathartic idk i certainly do!!
quarter past midnight - a song about escapism, as was fitting when it was released in 2018 and equally fitting now. running away for a night of fucking around with friends, craving any kind of brief departure from the chaos of the modern world
skulls - this one was not a hit or a single and is technically a bonus track but i'm including it because once again if you ever clicked on a ship playlist on 8tracks in like 2013-2015 you've heard this one. and you know what that was justified this one is also good
if you wanna feel existentially depressed:
their whole discography. i mean i kid but i also don't. that's just kind of how bastille does it. BUT IN ALL SERIOUSNESS ones that hit me in particular would beeee
two evils - kind of a grim, haunting one introspecting about morality of the self.
oblivion - musing about the afterlife, love, and how time changes all of us.
those nights - contemplating what it is we seek when we plunge into reckless escapism, and the inherent loneliness of it; how even when surrounded by people there's still the pressure of the world outside, continuously coming to pieces
the draw - this one was written about the pull of pursuing a career in music vs. staying home with family and friends. in a broader sense, it can apply to a lot of things. i always felt it resonated with feelings of paranoia and displacement
winter of our youth - discusses childhood, nostalgia, and regret. if it feels like everything's slipping away, is it easier to relive the past, especially if the past is tinted rose?
sleepsong - loneliness, desperation, and the cyclical, abyss-like nature of all it encapsulates
if you want discussion of serious topics:
final hour - a bonus track off their second album that also became a bonus track off their third album? anyway this song talks about climate change and gun control. happy stuff
doom days - this one talks about, uh, everything! doomscrolling, political divides, escalating national tensions, climate change again, etc.
the currents - a song centered on political rhetoric and the power that figureheads have over the masses, the way they can orchestrate hate. basically it's not so subtly aimed at donald trump lmao, dan's literally sung it as much in a few live settings
WHAT YOU GONNA DO??? - social media addiction and the way capitalism and corporate interests have annexed our online experiences, fighting desperately for our attention as they seek to monetize every available aspect of our lives
four walls (the ballad of perry smith) - well this one is about uh. perry smith. who was charged with the death penalty for killing 4 people in the late 50's. but it's less directly about him and more a discussion of the morality of the death penalty and capital punishment
snakes - burgeoning anxieties and the impulse to turn to easy outs, like ignorance or alcoholism, to escape the world's global problems
if you want some pop culture sprinkled on top:
icarus - greek mythology. i like this one because it addresses something that i feel isn't addressed enough in discussions of this myth, which is that icarus is a very young lad. less about the pride of the fall, and more about the inherent tragedy of that.
laura palmer - the whole song is a david lynch shoutout. i've never seen twin peaks myself but the song still slaps.
daniel in the den - christian mythology. discusses the biblical tale of daniel in the lion's den and links that up to themes of betrayal and family.
poet - this one's a double feature, referencing both william shakespeare's sonnet 18 and edmund spencer's sonnet 75. also one of my favorites.
send them off! - this is another one of my favorites of theirs. it's also been described by dan as "othello meets the exorcist" and it very much delivers there
if you want something uplifting:
joy - while bastille (understandably) has a bit of reputation as a band that makes sad music about sad things, they've definitely got some happier songs in their catalogue. pun intended cha ching. this one's one of their more straightforwardly happy tunes
survivin' - this was a song they wrote while they were touring and then felt weird about releasing once the panini hit because it felt a bit on the nose. they ended up releasing it anyway and i am so glad they did cause it's a mood
act of kindness - the "happy" part here is debatable but i'm gonna include it anyway. it’s when someone does something nice for you and that impulse Changes you way down deep you know???
warmth - one of those "the world's going to shit but at least we have each other" kinds of tunes
the anchor - one of those "the world's going to shit but you're the one fucking thing that's still keeping me here" kinds of tunes
give me the future - their latest single as of this writing and one of the more optimistic tracks in their catalogue imo! it's yearning, but it's also with a genuine hope for the future.
and LASTLY. because im going to take every chance i can to plug this band. im going to throw some collabs and covers at you because there's one thing this band does SUPER well and it's collabs and covers.
of the night - this is the big one. it mashes up rhythm of the night by corona and rhythm is a dancer by SNAP! and it's so good they still do this one live and it goes off every time.
no angels - a mashup of "no scrubs" by TLC and "angels" by the xx, poured into a strangely mournful tune with clips from the hitchcock movie psycho. doesn't sound like it should work but it does. kinda really does.
torn apart - with GRADES and lizzo no less!!! it's got two parts but they're both excellent listen to them both
weapon - collab with angel haze, dan priddy, and F*U*G*Z and one of my absolute favorites
remains - remix of their song "skulls" but featuring rag'n'bone man and skunk anansie that adds an entire new dimension to the song, really fucking excellent
old town road mashup - lil nas x's old town road meets lizzo's good as hell meets radiohead's talk show host meets talking heads' road to nowhere meets the osmond's crazy horse. "what the fuck that shouldn't work" i KNOW and yet here it is!! BLATANTLY BANGING!!!
we can't stop - one of the few times dan smith subtly changes the lyrics of the song he's covering (most of the time he opts to keep the original pronouns and the like, which is very nice to see). anyway this one mixes miley cyrus's we can't stop with eminem's lose yourself and billy ray cyrus's achy breaky heart. and also the lion king's i just can't wait to be king is there. yes i know it sounds batshit especially because the whole thing is surprisingly melodic and heartfelt and you know what it works.
anyone but me x nightmares - mashing up joy crookes' anyone but me with easy life's nightmares and absolutely one of my favorites.
bad guy mashup - how many songs can they include with the word "bad" in the title? we've got bad guy (billie eilish), bad decisions (bastille), bad romance (lady gaga), and bad blood (taylor swift). bastille even has a song called bad blood and they didnt use it. they used taylor swift's version. also the distinctive guitar riff from dick dale's misirlou is there.
somebody mashup - how many songs can they include with the word "some" in the title? someone like you (adele), somebody told me (the killers), somebody to love (queen), use somebody (kings of leon), and someone you loved (lewis capaldi). seriously these guys take mashups to a new level.
final song - this is a cover of MØ's final song. it also adds in craig david's 7 days and, impossibly enough, europe's final countdown. how does it work. how.
ALL RIGHT. THATS ALL IVE GOT IN ME. HOPE THIS HELPED ANON AND IM SORRY IF THIS IS TOO MUCH

im insane im insane im gonna talk about leftism in nu metal now. yes its because of that post i reblogged earlier.
nu metal is not a genre people typically associate with leftist beliefs or attitudes. but why? let’s talk about why.
part 1: nu metal? what??
a little context for the uninitiated: nu metal is a subgenre of alternative metal which is a subgenre of heavy metal. popular bands that fall under this category would be korn, limp bizkit, and system of a down. the genre began in the 90s, peaked in popularity around Y2K, and then fell out of public favor. it’s largely regarded as a laughable mark in music history with little of quality to offer, which is a take usually spewed by self-important wannabe critics. fwiw, i am also a self-important wannabe critic, but that’s different because my takes are good and also my hair is sooo soft and nice.
anyway, the nu metal scene was largely populated by cishet white men, and the subject matter of the songs’ lyrics usually had much more to do with whiny emotional turmoil than anything political. you can see why nu metal to leftism is not a connection made very frequently. and i am not here to convince people that the genre is secretly some hotbed of progressivism or whatever! instead i want to talk about...
part 2: progressive potential
just like any alternative subculture, nu metal has potential as a force against fascism and patriarchy and all that other shit. the counterculture element of the genre makes it opposed to the status quo that the enemies of leftism hold dear, the same way grunge, goth, punk, and so many others have historically been. and that means there is precedent.
by “precedent”, i mean that nu metal is far from some kind of total white-boy cultural hellhole. allow me to introduce you to the already-existing more progressive side of the scene.
System of a Down- considering how popular they are, i’m guessing most are at least passingly familiar with SOAD. they’re a group of Armenians with a history of activism and a slew of politically charged songs in their catalog, with a couple of highlights including Prison Song (speaks on the issue of prison labor in the US being the goal of the war on drugs and being used to fund wars and coups in other countries) and BYOB (stands for “bring your own bombs” and is an anti-war song from the Bush era).
Kittie- an all-girl band with feminist themes coming through in many of their lyrics. the feminism is not always... up-to-date, shall we say, but hey. it was the 90s.
Rage Against The Machine- do i even need to say much here. they’re literally called “Rage Against The Machine”. their most popular song is an attack on police brutality. they aren’t usually considered truly a nu metal band, but anyone even remotely familiar with the genre can tell you that they are absolutely essential to the genre’s development. i would even go as far as to call them a proto-nu metal band.
Linkin Park- okay honestly their most well-known albums don’t have anything political in them but i just have to gush about my boys. throughout their career they’ve explored topics about war, poverty, and political corruption. in particular, as well, Mike (vocalist, guitarist, bandleader, etc) has family who were imprisoned in Japanese internment camps during WWII, and has discussed that in his music on occasion.
Otep- probably the most explicitly leftie nu metal i can think of. Otep (named for their openly queer frontwoman) is unapologetically political on a routine basis, and even made a whole record in 2018 to put the president on blast.
I could go on, but i feel i’ve more than sufficiently made my point, that being: nu metal is not the thoughtless, hypermasculine, entirely white scene that it can all too easily be boiled down to resemble.
part 3: okay? so???
SO... because we know that precedent is there, why not push it further? i wanna see more nu metal bands come out of the woodwork nudging the genre towards open diversity and progressive beliefs like antifascism, socialism, and feminism. it’s not like we’re too late to catch the genre, either, because it’s been making a comeback in recent years.
maybe this seems kind of silly, but i really do love this genre, so why not give it a shot? we deserve it, goddamn it all.
i’m probably gonna make a nu metal playlist For Lefties ™  later and put a link here, so be on the lookout for that 👀

Hiii! It’s music anon lol If you created playlists for me, I’d faint LOL Porcelain tat sounds so cool ✨ ! A oneshot based on “Don’t Miss Me” omg I’d read it asap, I’ve read all your fanfic stuff 😊✨ Totally ready for the punk suggestions and can’t believe I have never heard ANY of these songs before! Honestly I’ve been under a rock all this time! I’m not used to anyone suggesting music I like, but every song you pick literally rocks. Even today, I woke up with “All To Myself” stuck my head 😂
sorry it took me a hot sec to reply to this message - it's been a crazy few days
i'll definitely create you some playlists. i need to find my login information for spotify cause fuck if i remember it but when i do, i'll make you something
i need to think some more about Don't Miss Me before I write anything based on it - it'll probably be danny phantom and let's face, you know it'll be dash and danny lmao
yeah i mean i don't think you've necessarily been under a rock, it's just that my taste is immaculate and unmatched lmao
i listen to both punk and pop punk and honestly, i forget which is technically classified as which these days so... here are some general punk/pop-punk recs:
i miss you by blink-182 (arguably one of the greatest songs of the early 2000s)
little things - good charlotte (this is just straight up classic GC music and it holds up today)
high school never ends - bowling for soup (again, just an amazing pop punk anthem. i listen to this one a lot when writing high school scenes lmao)
predictable - good charlotte (it's hard not to just recommend their entire discography cause i grew up on their shit my man. i listened to this a lot during the early days of writing stay - and it still holds up eighteen years later)
therapy - all time low (listen, my friend. this is the shit. you think you've heard good music? it doesn't hold a candle to this shit right here. i've lost count of the amount of times i've like cry-screamed to this one. it's so fucking good. not everyone vibes with it so i won't be offended if you don't but holy shit it's so good)
weightless - all time low (this one's great, too. definitely one of those ones to scream in your car)
dear maria, count me in - all time low (i can't rec all time low and not rec this one - it's their crowning jewel)
late nights in my car - real friends (bruuuhhh, no words. so good)
me first - real friends (the pure angst in this one is immaculate)
from the outside - real friends (peak of their career tbh)
passing through a screen door - the wonder years (this one gets into the angry side of punk music so i completely get it if this isn't for you. it's a fine line to walk for sure but man is this my theme song. i've also used it as a title for a chapter of stay)
came out swinging - the wonder years (this one. screaming in your car. trying to figure out your life in a single night - holy god, it's perfect)
my last semester - the wonder years (you want to talk angst? this is great angst. i feel this shit in my soul)
there's a lot more punk music i listen to but that's what i can remember off the top of my head. and it's a good start to the world of punk and pop-punk music
honestly i'd recommend anything by the wonder years or good charlotte. i'm a little more choosy with the other bands i've linked above but they've all got good stuff
quick note about real friends - from 2011 to 2018, they released a handful of EP's and full albums with the lead singer Dan Lambton - all of which were amazing and angsty and generally a fun ride. in early 2020, Real Friends announced that Dan was exiting the band, no animosity between any of the band mates, it was just time for Dan to go in a different direction (i have thoughts about this lmao)
in 2021, Real Friends began releasing music with a new lead singer, Cody Muraro. Cody is a great vocalist and their songs are still incredible lyrically. But it's a different sound.
Not just because Dan's no longer the lead vocalist but their sound has shifted. They're less punk, a little more pop - i feel like they're trying to stay punk, it's just not as strong as when Dan was with them.
I don't hate their new music but it doesn't give me that same gut punch that their old stuff does. so i recommend anything by real friends from 2018 and before - and after 2018, i'm a lot more choosy about which songs i like
anyway. now that the essay about real friends is over with lmao, i'll leave you to enjoy these punk/pop-punk gems that i listen to on the regular
i'll make you a playlist sometime soon so definitely keep me updated on what you like so i can make you the ultimate jaeger playlist

Movies My Dad Would Like
I am writing this as if it isn't still a good two weeks until it's even Father's Day, but I have compiled a list of movies I think my dad would enjoy. Last week when I was home, I forced him into watching Into The Spiderverse and then showed him the trailer for Uncut Gems (we didn't have time to watch it after our movie marathon though). He really liked the Spiderverse one and he seemed to find the trailer for Uncut Gems interesting enough so it only makes sense to compile an entire list of films I think he might enjoy, right? Right? Also I am feeling extra erratic as I write this post because I am currently on the phone waiting for HMRC to answer so I can finally fix my messed up tax code. I love England.
Tumblr media
To add to that note of HMRC I have been on hold for 20 minutes already and I dread to think the size of the phone bill I'm going to receive, but my tax code will be fixed and my brain can stop going brrrrr... Let's discuss movies.
Whiplash (2014) directed by Damien Chazelle
Tumblr media
This film is about a dude who goes to a music school and is quickly noticed by scary bald jazz enthusiast Fletcher who recruits Andrew onto his team. This team is the prestigious lot, incredibly gifted at what they do, but this gift is brought to the extreme over the way in which Fletcher teaches them. The relationship is abusive and the lengths of punishment that Fletcher would go to in order to have every student sound perfect all the time,,, well it's terrifying. He scares me through the little screen.
It's a proper bloke film. There is a lot of action, but not really in the conventional guns bang bang bang way. Andrew bangs his drums until he physically cannot anymore, he endures a concussion and still shows up to rehearsal. It is the ultimate indie drama movie for every bloke and I think my dad would enjoy it because it is not slow burning and you grow to hate every single character in this universe.
Tag (2018) directed by Jeff Tomsic
Tumblr media
The ultimate man film about friendship, truly. This film is all about 5 friends who compete one month per year for a big game of tag. Run into work, at your mates wedding, you name it, you're getting tagged. Except in this movie one of the friends is getting married and he is the only person who hasn't been tagged ever.
The cast for this film include Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner and Jake Johnson which is the holy trinity for any dad casted line up really. Though when I watched it, I was especially excited for Hannibal Buress being in it, love that guy.
Mid 90s (2018) directed by Jonah Hill
Tumblr media
This film follows the life of 13 year old Stevie trying to find the community and lifestyle that he thinks he belongs to. He finds this through the downtown skateboarding community. His mother isn't very attentive to his life and his brother is as the movie synopsis pretty much puts it, a big fat bully. This is visually very pleasing, but I don't think the film is as deep as it was trying to be.
As the film is directed by Jonah Hill, it is the perfect example for a dad movie to enjoy.
Dune (1984) directed by David Lynch
Tumblr media
Not the Dune that's just come out, the original one where the budget ran out towards the end of the movie and things start to look crazy to the point you can see the literal green screen clear as day.
It's literally just an action movie about a man in a different universe finding and looking after the rare spice without an entire war breaking out. But the David Lynch version is incredibly goofy, for example Leto is a fun little worm man. I added this version specifically to the list as I've been trying to get my dad to finish watching Twin Peaks and I think this adds to the multiverse of madness.
Boiling Point (2021) directed by Philip Barantini
Tumblr media
I want you to imagine Hells Kitchen, but if everyone was British and it was being aired on Channel 4. It follows the story of a head chef who has to deal with many personal problems as well as the balance of professional crisis, especially when the man he owes money to drops in at the end as the restaurant is on flames (metaphorically). A slow burning, but beautifully dramatic piece.
Pearl (2022) directed by Ti West
Tumblr media
Pearl is the prequal to X (2022), but it still feels important to watch X before delving into Pearl. Pearl is living on her isolated farm with her family where she has to overcome fears, concentrate on relationships and also figure out how to become one of the most famous people in the world. All while the influenza is spreading and the war is raging. Her dad has to be extra cautious with this as him catching it could kill him.
The whole movie becomes an ironic downfall into how Pearl loses her marbles and becomes a mass murderer instead of the dancer she so badly wanted to be.
Battle Royale (2000) directed by Kinji Fukasaku
Tumblr media
If I had to explain this movie in simple terms for my dad, this is the original Hunger Games. This is the movie adaption of Fortnite. But it's a lot better than that because you can't beat the original.
The film revolves around a futuristic land where the Japanese government forced a ninth grade class to travel to an island on a class trip where they are forced to kill each other until there is a crowned winner. Each student receives a package containing a map and a weapon of some form, some better than others and they are left to fend for themselves, receiving announcements at set times every day by their teacher to tell them who has died and which spots of the island to avoid at specific times.
Dad if you watch this movie, I found a dubbed version for you on Amazon.
You Don't Mess With The Zohan (2008) directed by Dennis Dugan
Tumblr media
They stopped making comedy movies like this shortly after this film dropped. This film is awful actually, but has the type of irony to it that makes it sort of funny in places.
Zohan is a terrorist. He stages his own death so he can travel to New York so he can pursue his lifelong dream to be a hairdresser. That's it, that's the movie. It's dumb, there are many points of the film that feel like they've aged like a sour milk, but it still maintains some level of dad humour that just makes sense.
At the end of this post I just wanted to add an extra note about me being on the phone to HMRC when I started writing this post up yesterday. It is all fixed, I'm getting a nice rebate. Cheers
