PAT: (inhales) Well, between, uh, (exhales) your situation and reading 'Deep End of the Ocean', she was, uh, she was just a wreck. You can imagine. (Buffy gives her a thin smile and a weak nod.) PAT: Anyway, I'm off. We're-we're making empanadas in my Spanish class tonight. (giggles) You go be with your mom. You two need to rebond.

rewatching the scene in 2.08 where Abigail tells the story of Alfred Hamilton's murder to Flint and Miranda and two things stand out:
That Alfred Hamilton's ship was bound for Charles Town when it was fell upon by the Walrus and Alfred was murdered, and thus, Teach's prophecy in 3.01 that "everything moves towards it end" is fulfilled. Flint was never going to escape Charles Town. He was always going to be sailing that route toward a grim and tragic end. He was always going to be following the path of his own tragedy, trying to make things right and never ever succeeding.
That it was after the murder of Alfred Hamilton that Peter Ashe decided that he would "dedicate his life to eradicating [the pirate issue.]" This tells me that Ashe probably was not aware that James was "Captain Flint" before this point, but the fact that Hamilton was "hunted" confirmed his identity - and that made Ashe very scared for his own life. According to Morley in 1.04, Hamilton's ship was attacked "a number of years back" and so we can assume that Ashe has been living with this knowledge for at least five years, maybe more. He spent all that time trying his utmost to eradicate pirates all because he was afraid of one pirate in particular. He was afraid of his past misdeeds finally coming back to haunt him in the shape of Captain Flint, who would either kill him or expose him for the liar/traitor he was. I suppose that tells me the same thing that this first point told me - the ending was never going to change. Whether Flint and Ashe had met with Abigail acting as a buffer between them or not, it was always going to end with Ashe trying to exterminate Flint. I highly, highly doubt that he had good things in mind for Flint in 2.10 the way he claims that he does. He knew England would never forgive Flint for his crimes or for his sexual identity. But he knew he could manipulate the situation to where he could get rid of Flint, never had to fear for his life again, AND be hailed a hero for finally subduing Nassau. Reconciliation was never on the table, only Ashe's purely selfish motivations.

The Fierce And Broken
Pairings: Raven Reyes/reader
Chapter: 2.10
Warnings: violence
The first thing you notice when you wake up is the pain shooting through your arms and legs. Your eyes open, and you see nothing but steel bars around you. You are trapped inside a cage. Looking around the room, you could see grounders hanging upside down from hooks, as well as them being locked in separate cages.
The last thing you remember is being chained, stripped down, and hosed down before being injected with a large needle.
This was bad. This was really bad.
“Bellamy?” You gasp, noticing him in the cage across from your own. “Bellamy!”
When he saw you, he began shaking his cage, until the grounder in the cage next to him hissed something in Trigedasleng.
“We can't... we... we don't understand you.”
“Sky people?” The grounder turned and spat on Bellamy.
The venom in her voice was obvious. “I take it no one has told you we're not enemies anymore,” you scoffed before looking directly at Bellamy. “We need to get out of these cages.”
“And then what?” The grounder asked.
Bellamy let out a low grunt, “And then I'll kill everyone on this mountain.”
Your heart began to race as multiple footsteps approached. “Hey,” you whispered. “Someone’s coming.”
Fear sank its claws into you as two guards approached your cage, “Yeah. This one'll do.”
Bellamy began kicking his cage to draw their attention. Tools watched in horror as the guard zapped him with an electric rod before opening his cage. You fought back a scream as they injected him with a liquid that knocked him out cold, before they dragged him out of sight.
Hearing a clanging noise, you looked through the other side of your cage to see Bellamy being hung upside down.
Everything went from bad to chaos in a matter of minutes.
A brunette girl had woken Bellamy up just before the guard from before entered. Thinking he was dead, the guard lowered Bellamy to the ground, giving him a chance to fight back.
The room was filled with the feral sounds of shrieks and cries from grounders as Bellamy and the guard got into a fight. The ground who spoke to you before managed to pin the guard's wrist in place, giving Bellamy the chance to kill him.
You looked away as the guard fell to the ground.
Bellamy approached your cage, “are you okay? Did they hurt you?”
You shook your head, “no, but you need to hurry up and go. They will come back looking for him.”
He turned to face the brunette, “this is Maya, Jasper's friend.”
You smiled at her weakly, “thank you.”
She nodded slowly, too stunned to speak.
“I need to undress him and get rid of the body… Alba, he doesn’t have any keys for the cages.”
You squeezed his hand through the cage, “Bell, our people need you. Don’t worry about me, okay?”
“But-”
“You’ll come back for me when you come back for the grounders.”
You watched as Maya removed the chip from Bellamy’s arm. It was the last thing they needed to do before going.
Bellamy had disposed of the guard’s body by putting it down the same slide where they put dead grounders down, and Maya had volunteered to take him to your people.
Bellamy looked back at you, his eyes full of pain. “I will come back for you. I’m not going to leave you here.”
“I know,” you said, smiling. “Now go be a hero.”
A deafening silence filled the air. The only sound you could hear was faint crying.
“You do realise he’s not going to come back.”
You looked over at the grounder who spoke to you before, “Bellamy wouldn’t leave me, or any of us here. He’ll be back once my people have figured out a way to save everyone.”
She made a scoffing noise. “Your people, do you really think they can get us out of here?”
“Yeah, they have a pretty good plan.”
“One that involves saving grounders too?”
You didn’t blame her for being skeptical. “We have-” you paused and smiled as you thought of Raven. “We have a genius who’s going to find a way to deactivate the acid fog, and then your heda is going to march here with her army and my people to free everyone.”
She stared at you emotionless, “Commander Lexa?”
You nodded, unsure why she needed you to clarify that it was Lexa. She was the only commander.
The grounder let out a deep sigh, “I’m Echo, by the way.”
“Alba.”

DC's Stargirl 2.09 "Summer School: Chapter Nine" has aired on the CW, and I'm here to talk about it
So we know at least some of this episode is going to be backstory with the old JSA, and that's super exciting. Let's see how it goes.
Fun start on some Eclipso backstory. At this point, it seems clear that Bruce Gordon as Eclipso is who specifically the old JSA had to deal with. Past episodes tell us that they figured something out with the Staff. So this backstory is almost certainly going to be showing us the audience how the old JSA did it. The question will be whether or not our new JSA is going to figure out the same trick or if they'll have to come up with something new.
I think there's an interesting thing with this new plan of Courtney & Beth's, to just go fuck up Eclipso (as they should) and Pat logically telling them to hold the fuck up. Because it's absolutely true that if they don't go in with a solid plan and firing on all cylinders, they're gonna get their shit rocked. But also a good question, how do you prepare for someone like Eclipso? Now I wanna say, go get the Helmet of Fate, we know it exists here and we even know where it is, but A) the CW absolutely doesn't have the budget for that and B) I find it very hard to believe that they could keep someone like Dr Fate a secret if he were to appear. That's definitely something that would've leaked. We do know Jade's coming back next episode. Obviously, Rick & Yolanda will be back in action somehow (with an interesting thing for Rick because he broke the hourglass, maybe he remakes it or has developed strength of his own). They're not gonna side-line two members of their main cast that heavily for the finale, so we know they'll be around. Sylvester is around, so maybe he can be an asset. I would bet Shade will return. And probably the original Dr Midnite and Cindy, who will both escape the shadow dimension.
I like how vague the show is about what exactly Eclipso is. Really just a spirit parasite. I'm guessing they don't wanna commit to the comic accurate servant of God but they wanna be vague enough that we can like, get that without them having to say it.
"There's always a way," Sylvester says but I wonder if there is. At least, if they found one. Because Bruce Gordon was just kind of gone, and it's super implied that he's dead. Maybe the JSA was forced to kill him and then they tried to expunge the records of him as much as they could so that nobody else could stumble on the diamond.
I was going to ask if we think Cameron is actually real, but now that Barbara is seeing Jordan, yeah he's not real. They're both Eclipso fucking with Barbara and Mike.
Was it just me or did the very short look we got at "Cameron's" ice beam look a lot like a blast from the Staff, just recoloured and given some additional ice flecks? Simple reuse of an existing asset or an intentional choice to drive him that this "Cameron" isn't real? But Cameron's ice-based force choke is pretty cool.
Oop Eclipso nightmare for Pat, we know that the Starman suit doesn't exist anymore.
Spectre?! Dr Fate?! Those are some big name drops, okay, shit!
Why is everybody but Jay a dick to Pat? And we can't even blame them being shits on the Eclipso vision because even when we saw them interact with Pat last season they were dicks! Charles, Jay, and Johnny are the only ones who are ever nice to him. While not a good thing they died, maybe it's a good thing these guys aren't heroes anymore because they kind of suck.
Old JSA getting fucked up by the consequences of their own actions sucks for them. And because they're all dead, there's no dealing with the repercussions. But hey, at least there's no host to kill this time around. The new JSA really will have to get more creative about how they deal with Eclipso.
Man, Eclipso really has fucked over everyone but Beth. We love a queen who stays winning.
Oh, are they going to see if Jade can put the diamond back together with her powers? That actually might work. How they'd get Eclipso in is anybody's guess. But I guess we'll find out next week with Stargirl 2.10 "Summer School: Chapter Ten"

Magnum PI 3.10 - The Long Way Home review
Season 3! Doing it again, being amazing and just killing it! Damn!
So we got three separate stories going on this week and unlike some of the episodes in season 2 where I just felt like there was too much going on and nothing really connected when they gave everyone separate story lines I really enjoyed this. (I mean nothing still connects thematically but at least all the stories are super engaging.)
We got the Higgins and Ethan plot, which is cute and totally works to give us some Higgy back story (YES THANK YOU! Juliet did go to boarding school BUT she wasn’t quite as fancy as the other kids and broke in to the library at night!! Why did it take us 3 seasons to learn this and why do I love it so much!)
This episode also (for me at least) shows very clearly Ethan is falling for Juliet. But Juliet isn’t in love with him.
Like legit, she’s super attracted to him (I mean come on, those abs are no joke and he’s got fab floppy hair) BUT it’s more the idea of him than him, I think? I at least don’t see her giving him heart eyes the way she does with Magnum. And the way Ethan does with her.
Tumblr media
(This is a “Oh he’s so fine I want to lick him” not a “Oh he’s attractive but also the person I connect with on every level and trust with all I am” look).
I’m saying this both because I’m wearing my rose colored Miggy glasses and even if you’re not on team Miggy you have to admit the likely hood of him sticking around much in season 4 is fairly low. And I don’t think they’ll give us heartbroken Juliet, so she can’t really fall in love with him.
I did LOVE when she smacks him with the paper because he did the crossword puzzle without her. That was so adorable! And I do like that they have that one thing in common, because what else do they have?
Honestly couldn’t they have shown them playing golf together? Something more than eating and lying in bed together - which come on, everyone likes eating delicious things in bed! I feel like I’m waiting to see the actual moment they connect about something they share. Was that the “boarding school/ I tried to please everyone” bit? Because that didn’t scream connection to me.
Seriously, they had to give them a case so they’d have something to do (I mean of course they did, it’s a mystery show but still). I think if we’re legit supposed to see Ethan as a possible real love interest we worry about they need to give him/them something more to connect over. This was their chance to do that. And they didn’t. So in that way, I’m glad we got this, because it was just... Ethan saying he likes her, not them actually showing us why they’re a good match for each other.
(It’s like when you’re dating a guy and he’s all “I like you so much” but then when you’re sitting down and eating dinner or something, once you talked about your day and the weather it’s all awkward silence and you have to fill it with more boring small talk or kissing. Because else it would just be embarrassing sitting there in silence... #notspeakingfromexperinceoranything)
Though I didn’t like their end scene when Juliet was all “You were good at this, if he’s not careful Magnum might find himself replaced” even though she’s obvs not serious but still... it just hits a little too close to home right now!
Moving on we have the Gordon & Dennis (that’s his kids name right? suddenly I’m not sure...) Which is also adorable, at least to start, but then actually goes into something pretty deep about trust and having a father who is a cop in a time where that is problematic and just showcases how it’s not easy being a parent or a teen and at the end they just got to have a nice father/son moment and it was nice. Totally unconnected but it still worked well! Why do I also enjoy the fact that Gordy loves the food network?
Tumblr media
(Though I am I’m upset TC eats ketchup on is steak though. I’m not sure I can ever see him the same way again.)
Then for the actual PI/ Magnum plot. And having just watched a video on how the US military sponsors a bunch of TV shows and movies to get recruits and why this is problematic because they always makes the military come out looking good, I felt like I was going to be more of a skeptic and maybe even a little annoyed by this bit.
But I was NOT! I loved it! Like Magnum having to do some actual PI work, the fact that it was not all roses and sunshine and then having Magnum tell us the story about the interpreter that was sick and didn’t get snatched and just making a friend and being the awesome guy he is and offering to be there for him and then having him watch Liam get united with his family. Just all the feels we got! It was great.
Tumblr media
And the boys working together! It just worked beautifully. Much better than the episode last year when they did a full on boys-team up, at least in my opinion, that one felt a little forced (think it was actually 2.10).
My only like “I’m not buying this” was the parents who were just fine with their son being dead almost? Who is happy their son wanted to be a hero and in the military the day after he died? Even if that’s their normal/ once they got over it personality, right after?
IDK, that annoyed me a little, but still. I really like that they’re trying to showcase some of the less than great aspect about serving. Because it’s not all rainbows and puppies either during or after serving. And we got little hints of that.
So I loved this episode...but I missed the Miggy!
One call! That’s all we got? Come on! But at the same time, this episode worked so well, I can’t be mad about it.
I could have lived without the Ethan being all “I’m serious, I really like you” at the beach and exchanged that scene for one when Juliet comes back to Robin’s Nest and is all like “I see you managed without me” and Magnum would be little smug “I did, how was your vacation?” “I actually solved a mystery of my very own. Well sort of a mystery...”. I think that would have been pretty cool!
But I do like it ending with Magnum watching the guy with his family, having been reunited and maybe we do see some longing in his eyes to have that too. IDK, maybe I’m just reading into things. But we do have the baby episode coming up in a few...
Side note:
OMG the ending on MacGyver this week! I can’t believe it but I’m more excited for MacGyver next week than Magnum and that is saying something because I’d almost decided to stop watching MacGyver!

Idk if anyone told you but the MVA OST leaked, with themes for both the League and the MLA. If you haven't listened to it yet, please do! And if you have, what are your thoughts? I think Mine Woman and RE-DESTRO slap for 2 characters that got shafted hard by canon so I appreciate them a lot.
I have listened to them, and I like several of them! I feel like I need to lead with that, because I'm about to add some criticism about my previous responses to BNHA's score for context, so it's important to know that I genuinely do enjoy quite a few of these.
So, I haven't listened to a lot of Yuki Hayashi's scores, but he's definitely done work I've liked! He composed the music for several of the more recent PreCure shows, including their movies; I particularly loved his finale for the 15th anniversary film, which prominently featured a truly delightful medley of every team's opening theme. I'm also very fond of some of his pieces for Kiznaiver and Welcome to the Ballroom.
His BNHA work, though, I feel like suffers from two main problems: the tracks are too short to work up a good head, and yet, despite that short length, they sometimes feel exhaustingly over the top. (Did Shigaraki's theme really need crying children to get across the point that he's bad news?) I've long felt that the BNHA anime wants me to feel like everything is way more Epic and Stirring and Dramatic than I actually find the material to be, so curiously, the music winds up having a distancing effect rather than drawing me in. This is frequently compounded by placement choices that feel so staggeringly poor that I'm often left wondering whether the staff chose the music out of a hat! (Seriously, why does a fairly rote test of character in Nighteye's office warrant doom choirs?)
As to the MVA tracks specifically, I wish there could have been tracks that sounded a bit more fun or heroic, given that the League in MVA really are the heroes for the arc, complete with Shigaraki suddenly having access to Shonen Nakama Tropes and getting all these little comedic reaction takes. It'd be nice if the music could cue in and let the League have some aural triumph without being all doom all the time ("Oh, no! The villains are winning!" Yes, they are; let them have this for one arc, would you?)
But that said, I do rather like most of these! There are some that I do suspect will fall prey to the This Is Too Much Drama, Would You Please Ratchet Back? problem, but there are also some that I can imagine playing better in the context of the show than they do in isolation, and some that feel like they could even be exactly what I was dreaming about, if they go where I hope they will. For some individual thoughts, see below:
The Mission of the Stealth Hawks: A reasonable enough little tense atmospheric piece. Doesn't jump out at me.
Different Ability Liberation Army: I always approach the MLA as styling themselves as an army, but in reality being more of a sect--far more cult than militia-- I appreciate that if they can't have a good dramatic march despite having Army, like, right there in the title, I'm glad I could get church bells instead. On the whole, though, this is a good example of the first problem I mentioned having with Hayashi's work for BNHA--his pieces tend to be pretty short, and it takes them so long to land on a melody that by the time they find one, there's hardly any time to develop it before the song ends. Even a lot of the hero pieces are like that, and the villain songs, even more so. That said, I do like the horror strings that creep in around the 1.25 mark, blossom at 1.45, and float on through 2.10. I just wish they went on longer. Admittedly, "erratic church bells and horror strings" is still not the choice I would have made for the MLA's main theme. I really would have preferred something with a more militant air; as it is, this sort of feels like it scores a creepy prologue that plays before the opening credits kick in and then the episode proper starts. Which isn't a bad description for the way the dinner scene played in the manga, but thanks to the anime's decision to reshuffle everything, I don't think that dinner scene's going to maintain that feeling of "prologue" when we finally get to it.
My Villain Academia: Better on the melodic front; I enjoy the drama at .43, the dancing tension at 1.05, and particularly the minor strings from 1.25 that just keep climbing until everything else drops out around 2.10. I do wish it found a better place to end rather than noodling on for a further thirty seconds, but the melody will get a more central, and more bombastic, treatment in the final track, so it's probably okay for it to trail off here. (It's also apparently a reprise of a villain theme from the very first season's OST, which is rad. More on that in the Track 11 blurb.)
Second Coming: This is a bizarre one because, while I complained that Hayashi's BNHA tracks are usually short, this one is a full six and a half minutes--except that it falls clearly into movements of about a minute each, with clear lulls in between. I wish it was twelve minutes and everything was twice as long! As it is, I'm highly doubtful that we're going to hear this one played in its entirety anywhere, since I can't imagine what scenes would require this specific sequence of musical passages at this length. 0.00 - 1.01: I love that the song kicks in comparatively quickly; the first minute's passage has a great, thrumming drive that very nearly hits major key towards the end. 1.02 - 1.53: The drive picks up pace in the second minute before the chorus arrives, and for once, I am very prepared to love a BNHA choir piece. I hope this is what plays when Deika's going up in ash. 1.54 - 3.01: I love the melodic line being carried by the intentionally hard to distinguish violin and whatever brass instrument the violin's trading off with in the third minute. It's bit out of place with the rest of the track, but I like it quite a bit on its own, and it does have a similar sound as some of the "dirty" brass in RE-DESTRO and Mine Woman. It's probably too long for RD's childhood flashback, but I wonder if it'll play for an MLA character somewhere? 3.02 - 4.07: The fourth minute has some very fun drums, but otherwise doesn't jump out at me as much of the rest of the track. I'm very curious to know when this will play, though. 4.08 - 5.32: The fifth minute, god bless, has some proper march drums--I like this passage a lot, particularly when it come back in the sixth minute accompanied by the choir. I like this because the key is minor but it's not "oooo scaaaary" minor; it's more dramatic, a bit tragic, but triumphant too--pretty much perfect for Re-Destro, Spinner and Machia's moment of revelation in the crater. I wish it were longer. 5.33 - 6.36: And here for the end we're back to the driving guitar and some fun low-thrum strings and percussive chain sounds. Like the fourth passage, it's fun, but jumps out at me less, particularly as the song's finale.
Gigantomachia: This is an extremely boss kaiju song. Seriously, that brass in the opening could come right out of a Toho flick. Extremely good walking calamity number, love that distorted synth stuff towards the end. It's going to sound great when (if) it plays over Machia leaving the villa, the hand rising up through the floor behind Toga, Momo and the other students surveying the desolation left in his wake, and so on. (I know that's all Season Six material, shhhh. I hope they use this piece there.)
Mine Woman: This is so fun. And so extremely superior that that awful Christmas insert song! I'm glad Curious got this at least, and I love the moment the beat drops at the one-minute mark, and that interwoven sax. So good. It's hard to imagine the fight between Toga and Curious being paced to this song, mind, but it's real good, anyway.
TOGA's Nature: This one showcases the other problem I have with Hayashi's BNHA work, especially his stuff for the villains: it feels very on the nose in a way that tips over into being Too Much. The birdsong, I think, is on the nose but in an effective, playful way, with the natural beauty of the birds undercut by the lovely but ominous piano/synth melody. I am considerably less kindly disposed to the creepy child laughter, which just feels on the nose in a thuddingly obvious way--though I do like the way it slides in when the birdsong fades. I like, too, the sort of cloudy roaring reprise of the melodic line that kicks in around the 1.10 mark. It feels like an effective echo of Toga--cute but creepy as a young girl, and then, after she snaps, creepy in the same way but now you can't ignore it.
Symbol of Fear: The beginning doesn't do much for me, but I enjoy the howl that gives way to the organs at 1.15; while it's too action-heavy to be Tenko, the transition does still put me in mind of Tenko wandering the streets, internally crying for anyone to help him, and the person who finally does is--well. I like that the organ nurtures that howl into something considerably more dire, though you still get a return to that guttural cry periodically. While it is, again, difficult to imagine this scoring the scenes between AFO and Tenko's first meeting and Tenko being formally named Tomura--it's much too bombastic--it does still feel like an excellent representation of AFO sculpting Tomura's formless, aimless rage into something that really could tear down the world.
I Don't Kill My Friends: It would have been really nice if they'd let the most significant, unadulterated personal triumph of the arc sound actually fun. Why does the Sad Man's Parade song sound so upset?? @aysall predicts that it'll play over Twice's confrontation with Hawks and death scene, and I can see it working extremely well there, but it's a pretty weird call for the Dead Man's Parade bit, if that is indeed what this is intended to evoke. Quibbling about the title aside, I do like the way this pulses and throbs, something like an exposed wound, which is not a bad description of poor Jin's mentality. I still hope this isn't what scores his breakthrough, though. As I said previously, the villains are the heroes for just this one arc, and it'd be nice if the score could reflect that at least a little.
RE-DESTRO: I like this one a lot. I love the interwoven layers of that dirty sax and the Big and Dramatic orchestral strings + brass, but both of them undercut with that regular, machine beeping that could almost be a heart monitor, but mostly isn't--right up until the long beep at 1.52/1.53. It feels like a strong illustration of the titular character's different personas--his attempts at casual, friendly villainy (like menacing Giran or chatting with Shigaraki on the phone), him when he's thundering full-volume about the weight of his legacy at people (THE BLOOD OF DESTRO FLOWS THROUGH THESE VEINS I AM RE-DESTRO), and, beneath it all, the constant little thread of stress that Rikiya can never escape (right up until Shigaraki). I probably wouldn't love it so much in isolation, but I'm easy to win over with the right character association. XD
Paranormal Liberation Front: Very fun grubby guitar intro. It also has much the clearest melodic throughline, which inclines me towards it. What inclines me to it even more is the knowledge (per @aysall again) that it's the same main melody as the track Villains Theme from the very first season's OST. That track already having used its allotted Doom Choir quotient, this track makes do with less synth and a lot more orchestra and chunky bass backing, which is much to its benefit, I feel. I do wish it had any of the MLA's theme in it, to represent the merger, but admittedly, it'd be hard to make that very audible when the MLA theme has…next to no central melody, percussive rhythm, etc. Still, as an evolution of the League to something bigger, classier, and far more dangerous, it's real good--just long enough to develop into itself and explore its central leitmotif. Probably my favorite track simply on its own merits.
Thanks for the ask, anon! I'd listened to the tracks once driving around for work, but sitting down with them properly gave me a greater appreciation for them, and now I'll definitely have an ear out for them when we get to this material in the anime…
….whenever that winds up being. *sob*

DAMON AND ELENA, SEASON 2 INDEX
below the cut you will find a nearly exhaustive collection of Damon and Elena’s interactions, or conversations relating to their relationship, in season two.  it mostly exists for my own meta-writing purposes, because I have a terrible memory, but I would love it if people reblogged and gave their rankings!  top 10 moments, favorite angst moment, favorite romantic moment, favorite funny moment, etc. write meta! tag your friends! revive the fandom!
unless stated otherwise, you may assume the two people conversing are Damon and Elena.  moments are included or not included only on the basis of my personal bias, and/or whether I forgot them.
From 2.01, The Return
Really? Before, on the porch? We were talking, all cathartic, feelings exposed?Come on, we kissed, Elena. / Okay, I don’t have time for this, Damon. / Hey, if you want to forget it happened, fine, but I can’t.
We should be able to talk about this, Damon, we’re close enough now. I really want to know how you’re doing. / I kissed you, I thought you kissed me back, doppelganger hijinks ensued. How do you think I’m doing. / I think that you’re hurt / Mmm, no, I don’t get hurt. / No, you don’t admit you get hurt, you get angry, you cover it up, and then you do something stupid. / You’re scared, you think Katherine’s going to send me off the deep end, don’t you? I don’t need her for that. You know what, why is it such a surprise that I would kiss you? / That’s not a surprise. I’m surprised that you thought I’d kiss you back. / Now I’m hurt.
You’re surprised I thought you’d kiss me back? You can’t imagine that I’d believe that you want to? You’re the liar, Elena. There’s something going on between the two of us and you know it, and you’re lying to me, and you’re lying to Stefan, and most of all you’re lying to yourself. I can prove it. / No, Damon, don’t. What’s wrong with you? / Lie about this. / Stop it, you’re better than this, come on. / That’s where you’re wrong. / No, Damon, I care about you. listen to me, I care about you I do, but I love Stefan, it’s always going to be Stefan.
(Stefan) She got under his skin, she undid everything good about him. / (Elena) There’s nothing good about him, Stefan, not anymore.  He’s decided what he wants.  He doesn’t wanna feel, he wants to be hated, it’s just easier that way.  He got his wish.  I hate him, Stefan.
From 2.02, Brave New World
I need you to come with me. / Whatever it is, I’m not interested. / Yeah, I need you to come with me right now, Elena.
Damon, she’s my friend.
From 2.03, Bad Moon Rising
I’ll take really good care of her. (spiteful stelena makeout)
(takes an arrow for her)
You touch her and I swear I’ll never speak to you again. / What makes you think that has any power over me, because I took an arrow in the back for you?  You overestimate your influence.
Come on, you can’t hate me forever....You have every right to hate me, I understand, but you hated me before and we became friends?  It would suck if that was gone forever.  So...is it?  Have I lost you forever?
Road trips work well for us. / This doesn’t mean that things are back to the way they used to be, Damon. / Oh, come on, you know I chipped a little bit off your wall of hatred. / I need to know the truth, when you broke Jeremy’s neck, did you know he was wearing his ring? / No. No, I didn’t. Katherine really pissed me off, and I snapped, and I got lucky with the ring. I don’t know what I would’ve done if he wasn’t wearing it. Elena, I’m sorry. / Thank you for being honest with me. And the answer to your question about our friendship? Is yes. You have lost me forever. / But you knew that already, didn’t you? You used me today. I thought friends don’t manipulate friends. You and Katherine have a lot more in common than just your looks.
From 2.04, Memory Lane
(Stefan hallucination, Elena with Damon in 1864 and then in the grille playing pool.)  It’s your turn / Be prepared to lose
I made myself clear, Damon, I want nothing to do with you.
(Damon) I don’t do jealous, not with you, not anymore. / (Katherine) Don’t try to be the hero, Damon, you’ll end up dead. / Been there, done that, at least this time it’ll be worth it.
From 2.05, Kill or Be Killed
(Damon) So what’s up with this faux drama in your relationship? / (Stefan) What are you talking about? / Oh come on, Stefan.  You and Elena don’t fight.  Especially not over me.
What you did for Caroline’s mom...that's the Damon who was my friend. / Hey.  Stefan didn’t drink the people blood, if you were curious.  But he needs to.  And you know that.
From 2.06, Plan B
I wasn’t thinking, I didn’t think / It doesn’t matter, Damon. She won, Katherine won.
From 2.07, Masquerade
Everything you’re doing is hurting Elena.
She’s the doppelganger, she needs to be protected / Then I’ll protect her.
From 2.08, Rose
(staircase, over Stefan’s shoulder moment) thank you / you’re welcome
Cute PJs. / I’m tired, Damon. / I brought you this. / I thought that was gone. Thank you...please give it back. / I just have to say something. / Why do you have to say it with my necklace? / Because what I’m about to say is probably the most selfish thing I’ve ever said in my life. / Damon, don’t go there. / I just have to say it once, you just need to hear it. I love you, Elena, and it’s because I love you that I can’t be selfish with you, why you can’t know this. I don’t deserve you.  But my brother does. (forehead kiss) God, I wish you didn’t have to forget this. But you do.
From 2.09, Katerina
(Rose) Must be difficult being in love with your brother’s girlfriend. / (Damon) I’m not in love with anyone.
(Caroline) She’s not in any danger, I would not let her put herself in danger. / (Stefan) Any danger where, where is she? ...she’s with Damon, isn’t she. / Ew!  No!
(Rose) You’re right to fight it...the way you feel about her. / (Damon) And why is that? / Because if we’re going to survive, we need to not care about anyone. / Caring gets you dead, huh? / It might just be time to turn the switch off on your emotions. / I will if you will.
From 2.10, The Sacrifice
(Elena) Everyone that I care about, including the two of you.
Come on, we’re leaving. / No. / I said, we’re leaving. / I’m not going with you. / You don’t get to make decisions anymore. / When have I ever made a decision? You and Stefan do that for me. Now, this, this is my decision. / Who’s going to save your life while you’re off making decisions? / You’re not listening to me, Damon, I don’t want to be saved, not if it means Klaus is going to kill every single person that I love. / Get your ass out the door before I throw you over my shoulder and carry you out myself. / No. (she tries to punch him, he catches her hand) / Don’t ever do that again.
What you did today was incredibly stupid. / Actually, the only thing stupid was that I got caught. I don’t question why you and Stefan and everyone else try so hard to save me, you shouldn’t question why I would try to save all of you. Damon, good night, okay?
Stefan’s in there, Damon, how could you let this happen? / What are you talking about? I was too busy saving you from your crazy kamikaze mission. / You didn’t even have to go after the moonstone in the first place. / It was the right call, Elena. / Right call?? How was any of this the right call?  Damon, let go of me, let go of me.  Let go of me!  Please / Are you done?
(Stefan) Keep Elena away from here. / (Damon) Yeah, cause that’ll be easy. / Promise me, no matter what happens, you’ll protect her. / Promise. / (Katherine) That right there was the biggest mistake you’ve ever made.
From 2.11, By the Light of the Moon
Come on, pouty, at least give me two points for ingenuity. / Do you think this is funny? / Yes, Elena, I find hilarity in the lengths I repeatedly have to go to to save your life. / What did Stefan say about this? / We had a good laugh. / And what did he say about Elijah still being alive? / Yeah, that...didn’t tell him. / Why not? / Well, A he can’t do anything about it, and B...what I just said. Where’s Bonnie? / (Jeremy) I thought she was with you? / No, she’s on moonstone duty and I’m on Elena patrol. / (Jeremy) Who’s on Tyler Lockwood and the full moon? / Vampire Barbie asked me if she could handle it, and I figured worst case scenario he’ll bite her and I’m rid of two of my problems. / Wait, tonight’s the full moon? / Yep, and you were too consumed by your suicidal tendencies to notice....Change of plans, you babysit. Oh hey, you should get out, enjoy the sun – oh wait, you can’t.
From 2.12, The Descent
(Rose) You’ve never been in Damon’s room before, have you? Not what you expected.  / (Elena) It’s just a room with a bed...maybe I expected there to be silk sheets. / You’re lucky, you know.  No one’s ever loved me the way you’re loved.
You were supposed to leave. / I did. But then I came back to make sure you were okay. / I appreciate the gesture. I’m just glad it’s over. / You know I don’t believe that. / Go home, Elena. Get some rest.  It’s a whole new day tomorrow. / Damon, I’m your friend - / I’m well aware of that. / And a friend usually knows when their friend is hurting. / What do you want to hear? That I cared about Rose, that I’m upset? Well I didn’t and I’m not. / There you go, pretending to turn it off, pretending not to feel. Damon, you’re so close, don’t give up! / I feel, Elena, okay, and it sucks. What sucks even more is it was supposed to be me. / You feel guilty. / That would be human of me, wouldn’t it, Elena? And I’m not human. And you’re one to talk about giving up, all you’ve done is give up.  Go home, there’s been enough doom, gloom, and personal growth for one night. / Okay, I will. (hug)
From 2.13, Daddy Issues
He just blew in, announced to Jenna that he’s my dad, and then took off. / That’s public knowledge now? / Apparently. / You okay? / Yeah. Jenna’s head is spinning, but I’m okay. / Did he say what he was doing here? / No. Stefan thinks he’s telling the truth about wanting to help me. / Do you believe him? / No, I don’t believe him for a second. /  I don’t either. / What’re we going to do? / Kill him. / Damon. / I’m joking...well, I’m a little serious. / Damon! / Relax, Elena, I’m not going to hurt him.  I’m a good guy now, remember. / What does that mean? / I’m going to have a civil conversation with your father. / Wait, I’m coming with you.
We just need answers, please don’t do anything stupid. / Yeah, but stupid’s so much more fun. / Damon, I mean it.  All I ask is that you try to keep it together…be the better man. / Okay then.
You totally blew her off. / Trust me, it’s in the best interests of women everywhere.
Damon, please. Okay, too many people are dead. / You need to stop doing that. / Doing what? / Assuming that I’ll play the good guy because it’s you who’s asking. / Be the better man, Damon.
(Damon) I’m in love with a woman I can never have. / (Andi) Let me guess, she’s in love with another man. / Yeah, but that’s not the point.  The point is I’m in love with her and it’s driving me crazy, I’m not in control. / What, you don’t trust yourself around her? / I don’t trust myself around anyone, Andi....It’s in my nature, it’s who I am.  But then I have to stay together to protect her, and she wants me to be the better man, which means I can’t be who I am. / Maybe this is who you are now, love does that, Damon. It changes us.
From 2.15, The Dinner Party
You guys want me to fight, I’ll fight, but if we’re going to do this you can’t keep things from me.  From now on, we’re doing things my way. / Seems fair.
From 2.16, The House Guest
(Damon recognizes Katherine pretending to be Elena.)
How did you guys convince [Katherine] to [pretend to be Elena]? / We didn’t.  It was actually her idea. / Oh, that’s not good. / No, no that’s not good at all.
From 2.17, Know Thy Enemy
(Damon) Right now you should just stay here.  It’s safer for us to keep an eye on you. / (Stefan) What, in the house that any vampire can enter? No, her house is safer. / (Damon) Well then we’ll stay there. / (Elena) So, is that the plan? Neither of you let me out of your sight again? (Damon) Let me know when you come up with a better one.
(Elena) You’re giving me your house? / (Stefan) Isobel had the right idea with the safehouse, this way you can control who gets invited and who doesn’t. / (Damon) But I’ll be super pissed if you lock me out.
From 2.18, The Last Dance
What are we, twelve? / One of us is.  If I let you in, do you promise to obey the owner of this house? / No. / Seriously, Damon!  My way, you promised.  I call the shots.  No lies, no secret agendas.  Remember? / Yes, Elena.  Sure. / Then please, come in.
How you doing? / Freaking out a bit, you? / Cool as a cucumber. Come on, remember the last decade dance? The vampires were all ahhh and you were all ahh! / Right, and you won. / Yes, we did. / You’re good at this! / I’ve got moves you’ve never seen.
Stefan, get Elena out of here, I’ll deal with the body. / What do you mean, deal with it? / Sheriff can’t know about this. Last thing we need’s another mysterious death. / This is Bonnie! / Get her home now, so I can clean this up. / Oh my god, what about Jeremy? / I’ll find him.
What did you do with her? / Will you please calm her down. / Don’t talk like I’m not standing right in front of you. / Please, calm down. / You knew, didn’t you? You knew that if she harnessed all that power, that she would die, didn’t you? / Yes. yes, I knew. (smack) You need to listen to me and prepare for what I’m about to say....he had to believe it.
(Stefan)You could’ve told me. / (Damon) How do I know when you’re gonna go blabbing things to your girlfriend? / Don’t you understand what you put her through. / See, that’s why I didn’t tell you, because you’d never have been able to do it.  Don’t get me wrong, Stefan, I don’t mind being the bad guy.  I’ll make all the life and death decisions, while you’re busy worrying about collateral damage.  I’ll even let her hate me for it.  But at the end of the day, I’ll be the one to keep her alive.
Look, Klaus had to think she was dead.  Your reaction had to be real. / I understand why you did what you did.  Klaus was fooled, and Bonnie’s alive. / Here’s to duplicity. / But let’s get one thing straight, Damon.  Bonnie will not die for me, I will not let that happen. / We need to kill Klaus, Elena. Real Klaus, who will probably be coming to pay you a visit soon now that he knows that Bonnie’s dead. She’s the only one who can do it. / We’ll find another way. / I hope so. / Look, I shouldn’t have hit you. / Apology accepted. Let me be clear about something: if it comes down to you and the witch again, I will gladly let Bonnie die. I will always choose you. / Good night, Damon. / Good night.
From 2.19, Klaus
Where do you think you’re going? / Back to Elijah. / No. / Get out of my way, Damon. / If you so much as try to take a step out of this house... / (Andi) Damon, easy. / Stay out of this, Andi. / (Stefan) Let her go. / Are you kidding me, we just got her back. / (Stefan) I said, let her go. / That’s twice today you’ve stood in my way, I wouldn’t try a third.
From 2.20, The Last Day
What if it doesn’t work, Elena? / Then I guess I’ll just be dead.
(Elena) Where is Damon? / (Jenna) I saw him go upstairs. / (Elena) You disappeared. / (Damon) I didn’t want to hear anymore. / I need you to understand why I’m doing this. / Why, it clearly doesn’t matter what I think. / I’ll be fine, Damon.  I’ll drink the elixir, Bonnie will kill Klaus, and then all this will finally be over. / If it works. / It will work. / You think it will work. You want it to work. Why am I the only one convinced it won’t? There has to be another way. / There isn’t. / Then you’re going to die, Elena. / And then I’ll come back to life. / That is not a risk I’m willing to take. / But I am. It’s my life, Damon. My choice. / I can’t lose you. / You won’t. / There is another way. / What are you...Damon, no. Damon, no!
(Damon) You’re so bent on dying, at least this way I know you’ll come back. / (Stefan) As a vampire...she’ll come back a vampire. / It’s better than nothing else. / (Stefan) How could you of all people take that choice away from her? / Go ahead, wish me an eternity of misery. Believe me, you’ll get over it.
(Stefan) It would be selfish for me to ask you. / (Elena) Didn’t stop Damon. / He shouldn’t have done what he did. But he did it because he loves you. / But he did this to me, Stefan, which means, he doesn’t really know what love is.  And to be honest, I’m not sure if I do.
From 2.21, The Sun Also Rises
(bridal carry)
Come back as a vampire, I’ll stake you myself, so don’t. Cause I can’t stand the idea of you hating me forever....Elena. / Damon? / How do you feel? / I feel fine.
(John’s letter) Whether you are now reading this as a human or a vampire, I love you all the same as I’ve always loved you and always will.
(Stefan) Damon, she needs us right now, all of us. / (Damon) And then what’s the plan, Stefan.  The curse is broken.  How does one go about killing an all-powerful wolf-vamp and his two-faced older brother? / I have no idea. / Then we need to get an idea, and fast. / I’m not going to let Elena lose anyone else. / I wouldn’t make any promises, brother. / What’s that supposed to mean? / Tyler Lockwood bit me. It’s actually more of a nip, really, but there it is. / We’ll find something. A cure. / There’s no cure, Stefan. / We kept Elena human, right? We found a way when there was no way. Hey. I will do this. / You want to do something for me, keep this from Elena. Last thing she needs is another grave to mourn.
From 2.22, As I Lay Dying
I want to apologize. / Damon. / Please, Elena, feeling you my blood, I was wrong. / Yes, you were. / And I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness, but I need it. / And I need some time, maybe a lot of time / Sure, of course, take all the time you need.
(Elena) You’re breaking the rules, you know.  Movie night’s supposed to be a distraction, tomorrow we can return to our regularly scheduled drama. / (Stefan) I know, I wish this could wait. But it can’t. Listen, um, the other night when Damon was helping Tyler, something happened.  Tyler was starting to transform and...Damon was bitten. / What? Is it, is he...gonna? / Yeah? / Oh my god.  He came to the house this morning and tried to apologize, I practically slammed the door in his face. / He told me not to tell you, but I figured if you wanted to talk to him...I wouldn’t wait. / Stefan... / It’s not over. There might be a cure, but I have to find Klaus to get it. / No, he’s going to kill you. / No, he had the chance to kill me, but he didn’t.  Whatever Damon’s done, whatever led him here, I’m the one that made him become a vampire in the first place.  So if there’s a chance for a cure, I owe it to him to find it.  Go talk to him.  Tell him that there’s still hope.
Elena. / It’s okay, I’m here. / Elena, get out of here, I could hurt you. / No, you won’t.  I’m not leaving you. I’m here till the very end. / Get out of here. / Shhh it’s okay. / It’s not okay.  All those years I blamed Stefan, no one forced me to love her.  It was my own choice. I made the wrong choice. Tell Stefan I’m sorry. / I will.
This is even more pitiful than I thought. / There’s still hope. / I’ve made a lot of choices that have gotten me here.  I deserve this, I deserve to die. / No, you don’t. / I do, Elena, it’s okay, because if I had chosen differently, I wouldn’t have met you. I’m so sorry. I’ve done so many things to hurt you. / It’s okay, I forgive you. / I know you love Stefan, and it will always be Stefan. But I love you. You should know that. / I do. / You should have met me in 1864. You would have liked me. / I like you now, just the way you are. (kiss) / Thank you. / You’re welcome.
