Apply Dr. Bailey's loosened, pushed, or baked mineral makeup to seal in the eyeliner for the day. Cover the entire face eyes as well as neck also. For eye darkness, use a level eye darkness brush to brush the silver shimmer in the Plum Triad around the lid from the top of the lash line to the base of the eyebrow. Brush light lavender over the cover of the eye. Spot dark purple in the folds of the eye lid with a contour brush. For blush, make use of the loosened flush mineral powder to highlight the face , being sure to obtain the external forehead area in addition to down the structure of the face to highlight specific functions that you wish to highlight.

Calianna’s Dragon Scales

I’ve gotten LOADS of questions about how I made my prosthetic scale thing for Calianna, and this was actually my first homemade prosthetic piece, so I’m by no means a professional, but here’s a walkthrough of what I did.

You will need:

Gelatin packets

Glycerin

Measuring cup

Syringe

Tupperware

Mircowave

Cutting board/placemat/aluminum foil/flat surface that’s somewhat flexible

Knife

Eyeliner, eye crayon, or something you can draw on your face with

Black face paint

Paint Sealant Spray

Black and green eyeshadows, preferably glittery

ProsAide or Spirit Gum (and remover!)

Paint brushes that you don’t mind throwing away (paint can stain and ProsAide will not come out)

Your normal makeup for the other half of your face

1. I followed Glam&Gore’s tutorial on how to make sfx gelatin and make scales, but to summarize, you take a syringe and suck up the hot gelatin, and then squirt little dots out. Since I wanted my scales to have a shape, I made dots a little larger than how I wanted the scales to be. I also found it helpful to let the gelatin sit for a few seconds so it was less watery (closer to the consistency of honey) because the little dots of gelatin stayed thicker and that gave a better scale texture. If none of this makes sense, watch her video. It will make more sense.

2. I took my knife and cut each scale into a triangle. Yes. Each one. It took me hours. And my hand hurt.

3. Between batches of scales, I took an eye crayon and mapped out where I wanted the prosthetic to sit on my face. Then, I took a sheet of paper and pressed it against my face, to transfer the shape onto paper.

5. The transferring wasn’t super visible, so I went over it in pen. I ended up with this shape. (I tried to make an ear, which is the oval here, but it honestly didn’t stick and was mostly covered by the hair anyway. Save time and paint your ear black.)

6. In case you thought I was done with tedious work, you were sadly mistaken. I laid each scale individually, gluing them together with ProsAide. Try not to get your adhesive on the paper. That sounds impossible, and it is. As I tried peeling it off, I realized it wasn’t super sturdy. I flipped it over and peeled it off, and then decided to add a backing.

7. I spread a thin layer of gelatin down and placed my piece onto that.

8. I cut the piece out, peeled it up, and repeated until I had three backing layers. At this point, I SHOULD have held it up to my face to cut an eye hole, but I forgot. But you should do that.

9. I painted the scales as I would paint my real face, with black water based paints. I use Mehron Paradise Paints and seal it with Ben Nye Final Seal. I was really glad at this point that I used a brightly-colored cutting board, because it was easy to see when I missed a spot.

10. Lastly on the prosthetic piece, and this is totally optional but I’m a glitter fiend, I added some glittery eyeshadow. I went with L’Oreal’s Golden Emerald and Eternal Black.

11. I don’t have pictures now because I’m bad at taking pictures when I do my makeup, but I did my normal makeup on my un-scaled side (I chose my right). I dragged the foundation further left than I knew the prosthetic and paint would cover because I could just paint over foundation.

12. Other normal makeup on that side: highlighting and contouring, eye makeup, etc. Again, I’m not a makeup artist so I don’t have a lot of good advice here. I used a reference photo of Cali and just went at it.

13. I painted the left half of my face black, including down my neck and my ear. Around the edges that the prosthetic wouldn’t cover, I used the L’Oreal eyeshadows again to make sure everything blended. And because I love glitter.

14. I painted my face and the prosthetic with ProsAide, waited for it to turn clear, and stuck it on.

15. I stuck the wig on, took pics, and the rest is ye olden FaceTune. That’s all.

Now, for a few things I would’ve done differently.

I’ve heard you can mix paint directly into gelatin, so I’d probably color the scales like that instead.

I wish I would’ve made three pieces instead of one big one- one for the forehead, cheek, and jaw, because, uh, I can’t move my face in this at all.

***Strip lash glues are used for sticking strip lashes, usually used by makeup artists or girls who apply strip lashes at home, it’s milder than lash extension glues because they’re made to stick on your eyelid instead of on lashes, so many ingredients are quite different from lash extensions, strip lash glues are usually packed into a tube and with a brush tip for applying. Usually strip lash glues can last only 12-24 hours.

Eyelash extension glue VS Individual lash glue

Here individual lash means the lash segments, also called cluster lashes, individual strip lashes, different from the individual lash extensions (also called classic lash extensions).The apply method is also different from lash extensions, so the glues used for individual lashes are different from eyelash extension glues as well. Never use lash extension glues for your individual lashes because it’ll harm your eyes. Individual lash glues are usually need to be used together with the sealant which can make your individual lashes last more than one week, and the distributors usually sell them with a remover as well , which will make it easier to discharge the individual lashes.

Strip lash glue VS individual lash bond

Strip lash glues and individual lash glues are packed in same tubes, strip lash glues are usually with a pen-like brush tip, and individual lash glues are with a mascara brush tip. Now we know we cannot use lash extensions glues for either strip lashes (3D mink lashes or 3D faux mink lashes) or individual lashes, because lash extension glues are produced to attach to real lashes, the other two glues are produced to attach to eyelids, a mix use may cause immeasurable damage.

But can I use strip lash glues for individual lashes? Or Can I use individual lash glues for strip lashes?

The answer is –Yes. This may different from what you learn from other where, but indeed you can use either glue for either lashes, just if you use strip lash glues for your individual lashes, it cannot last overnight, and you need discharge makeup everyday as well. The secret for individual lash bond last longer is the sealant, theoretically with the sealant your strip lashes will last longer as well, but maybe a little difficult to handle, and it’s also a little expensive to use strip lashes only once while it can be used 20+ times.
