Another important thing I noticed in the scene where Beatrice goes to check on Ava is that she’s surprisingly open right off the bat. Honest.
She tells Ava about her parents to try and bond with her – that they’re Conservative English diplomats who sent her away to Catholic boarding school. She even admits to starting the “Cruella de Jesus” nickname for Mother Superion, hinting at her more playful and mischievous side (the side we rarely get to see).
But when Ava (rightfully) guesses that there’s more to the story, Beatrice moves up onto the step behind her, out of the light. Though she admits that Ava’s right, it does come across as a bit of a retreat.
It’s like she thinks that if she hides, Ava won’t be able to gauge her secret. Won’t be able to read it in her expression. It’s a very subtle way of showing that that’s still a touchy subject and she’s not ready to talk about it yet.
But at the same time, there’s a tenderness in that moment as Beatrice is also moving closer to her, leaning against the wall just by Ava’s head. It makes it so that Ava has to look up at her, and Beatrice smiles.
Just goes to show that Beatrice was the first real friend she made at the convent.

thinking about them (tk and carlos and their parallel lives of being so isolated and sad and grey for so long—not believing they’d ever deserve the love they dreamed of, not believing they’d ever get the love they dreamed of—and how they act like they’re no longer drowning and they’ve come up for air for the first time when their eyes meet in a soulless police station)
thinking about them (tk and carlos and their paths forever intertwining the moment carlos touches tk’s lip and it becomes real and the trust and care is instantaneous and tangible and too big to name)

the thing abt dean saying "I'm the one that's been with [dad] every single day for the past two years" in 1x03 is that.....he's lying. he's literally lying. we know this bc in the pilot he says he was working his own case in new orleans ("i'm 26 dude") and just the fact that dean is so in the dark abt everything surrounding the hunt for azazel bc john was primarily doing that on his own. and it's this moment of guilt mixed with resentment and overcompensating. dean feels guilty that he wasn't there with john because maybe if he had been he would've been able to help and john wouldn't be missing now, alongside a little bit of resentment for sam leaving them. sam got to go off to college while dean was left feeling obligated to stick by john. and then there's the overcompensation, feeling like he has to play up his role, the dutiful son. the one who never left. i was always there, where were you? but the thing is, dean and john weren't the perfect little team sam thought they were. they parted ways. they worked separate cases. dean wasn't there. john starts visiting 12 yr old adam the year sam leaves for stanford. dean is alone for long gaps of time during stanford era. when john goes missing the thing that tips dean off isn't that he actually "hasn't been home in a few days", it's the weird phone call he gets from john. they haven't seen each other in a while, he hasn't been with him every day for the past 2 years, and dean feels guilty about it.
