Hi!!!! Brain Gremlins are attacking me today and now I have ideas that I can't draw For the l4j time-travel AU, is it before or during the Clone Wars? If it's during, how do the Clones react to Cal and Ahsoka being suddenly Old?
Tumblr media
yeah there's a real difference in reactions:

Cadet Commander Kestis left an… impression on the Alpha Class when the 13th Battalion stocked up on a supply run to Kamino. His Commander is debating whether he should have bothered trying to keep the Cadet in arms length. It probably wouldn’t have helped.
(Alpha 17 will never forget the strange Jetii Cadet that apologised to a door. He thinks about it when the Cadets he trains are being strange. It gives him comfort, and a strange fascination with the happenings of Jetii Cadets.)

Random clone and padawan headcanons
I will die on the hill that every padawan was extremely connected to/close with their clone battalion
Certain clones have closer bonds, but every clone trooper saw anywhere from a child to barely teenager standing in front of them on their Venator and went “protective instincts initiated”
Ahsoka and the 501st are the closest only because Anakin encouraged they interact with the men as if they were troopers and not their commanding officers whenever not in a professional setting (think missions camps, off duty, in transit to missions). This helped Ahsoka acclimate because it reminded her of the crèche days and the bond she formed with her crèche mates
With that said, Rex was fondest of Ahsoka (big bro mode activated double time when he saw a child standing in front of him) but she and Fives together were his biggest headache
Cal was a babay when the war started so the 13th battalion, yes respected him as their commander, but their relationship was much more "little bro surrounded by 100s of big bros" (with how young Cal was, I firmly believe he rarely saw the field)
Cal loved to watch the clones train, and once and awhile they'd let him join in on their sparring. Due to the fact he was maybe 100lbs wet, they'd go easy on him, but it was the highlight of Cal's day
Caleb/Kanan wanted to be the cool commander so badly. Like so so so so badly. During down time, you'd find him in the mess hall with a group of clones around him while he told what he thought were his coolest stories or about all the cool things he's done on Coruscant (Depa Billaba would never admit it, but she enjoyed coming to the mess during these times and oh so casually correcting an over-embellishment of Caleb's like oh interesting she doesn't remember him pulling off a double flip she remembers him face planting in the temple fountains, but maybe that was another time. Caleb gives her the "mom stop embarrassing me in front of my friends" look and she laughs to herself as she walks away)
To help pass the time while Jaro was leading a campaign on the ground and Cal was on the Venator, Cal and the clones not involved in the battle would play a version of hide-and-seek. One time Jaro came back from the battle to a bunch of sheepish clones admitting they had no idea where his padawan was after they'd been seeking for him for over an hour. That's when they learned Cal can fit into spaces previously thought only a mouse could access
Ahsoka was a very curious teenager who loved to learn. Much to Rex's chagrin. After Christophsis, back on the Resolute on their way back to Coruscant which was a day or so journey, Ahsoka followed Rex around asking a million questions about life on Kamino, their training, what it was like growing up surrounded by the same face, who his favorite trooper was, who his favorite Jedi was, what his least favorite part of the ship was, etc.

Baby Cal and one of the 13th Battalion troopers!
I love Fallen Order and I love the 13th Battalion so I have a few characters for them one of which being this boy named Stowaway!
I remember the episode of clone wars where the senate wanted more clone troopers and (I think this happened) they talked about where troopers would be sent out younger than normal

I present to you: Commander Bastion of the 13th Battalion!  He and his men specialize in defensive operations, and that includes defending precious little Padawans.

The blanket Cal has in his room during the order 66 flashbacks matches the colours of the battalion he’s with so picture for me: a group of battle-hardened super soldiers using the precious little time they have between battles to make a simple blanket to sleep with at night as a gift for their 12 year old commander. They make it their battalion colours because they want him to know he’s one of them.

Something something, the Jedi and the Clones would have grieved together, something something, their traditions would have become symbiotic, something something, over three million prayers to the force by force nulls who respected their beliefs would have galvanised those who could feel their faith, something something, the inherent tragedy of loving the people around you, knowing you and them could die anytime, something something.
-
I’m normal about the Jedi and the Clones, I promise.
This was originally for the No Order 66 AU with Cal and his Battalion, but it made me feel too much when I finished it.
There is something about a peace keeping warrior order coming to love their soldiers, who in turn, come to respect and admire them. There’s just something so cathartic about that bond, that mutual struggle for a Galaxy that wants or respects neither people, that just feels so….
Ugh, you know?

no sign of the little one.
Cal turns around, compelled by a power he’s learning isn’t his.
And he sees – a ghost.
That’s all it can be. A kriffin’ ghost.
A figure in white. Plastoid chest piece scuffed with blaster marks from a mission gone wrong.

Before Archon was Jaro Tapal's Commander, he was just a captain.
And he was decanted wrong.
AKA my submission for the @cloneoczine, which never quite made it off the ground. So happy to finally share this piece! (And finally strike it off my Mental Checklist).

so I've been wondering about this for a while, but couldn't find a post on your blog rly talking abt it (excpet the one where you mention my star wars blog). What did Order 66 look like for Spoons ? And also, what did the poor baby have to endure after-
i've had some ideas thought out for a while, just never drawn or written anything out haha. spoons had really good relationships with his jedi so order 66 really took a lot out of him ;; when tapal and cal were trying to escape the albedo brave after the order was issued, spoons was one of the troopers in the front line whose barrage of blaster fire eventually killed tapal. this would be something he'd never forgive himself for as long as he lived, even if he didn't feel like himself when it happened. he wouldn't know about the chips implanted in their heads - who would, out of his battalion? - and he wouldn't doubt that even if cal did survive, he would never trust spoons or any other clone ever again.
spoons would fight against the chip's influence the whole time, even if it did little to change his actions. it just didn't make sense to him, why the jedi he grew to love so much could become traitors punishable by death - especially cal, who was just a child. he would hesitate to fire at him as cal made his escape, but he'd still fire nonetheless. spoons was made to fight wars, but nothing would prepare him to fight against his own mind. that day would continue to give him nightmares for the years to follow, it was like his mind's way of telling him he should never forget what he did.
Tumblr media
there weren't supposed to be any survivors after the albedo brave exploded, but among the broken pieces that crashed onto bracca, spoons had only barely managed to get away. maybe the impact shook the chip loose or maybe it was the guilt that made him flee to the farthest, most remote planet he could manage to find instead of reporting to the nearest authorities and probably be turned into a mindless soldier like he was always meant to be. of course, he'd never get anywhere with his armour so he sold every piece as soon as he could, replaced it with a disguise so no one would look too closely at his face. eventually, he'd find work on a distant planet on a shipyard like on bracca. he wouldn't just allow himself to die because he believes he doesn't even deserve that, after what he's done. he believes he should suffer the rest of his days knowing he ultimately failed his jedi, the most important people in his life.
as if he couldn't punish himself enough, spoons would abandon the hobbies he used to take comfort in. just to make sure of it, he thought he'd take away even the temptation of it, make sure he could never create anything again. working at a shipyard meant having access to power tools, and he could pass off an intrusive impulse as a workplace accident. prosthetics were cheap, after all. cheaper than losing a worker, at least.
it isn't all that bad, though. some of the workers' kids like to explore the broken down ships before they're scrapped, and sometimes the guy with the robot arms is nice enough to buy them treats. the jawa kid should really stop trying to dismantle said guy's robot arms for parts, though.
