“There he is.” Sonic grinned at his communicator screen, pressing the green phone button to accept the video call. “You're late, bud.” “I know, I know.” Tails huffed, rolling his eyes. He was in a forest, Sonic guessed when he noticed the trees in the background. “Jewel asked me to check out a signal since I was nearby. I just wanted to tell you I'll be a minute.” “You need a hand?” The hedgehog asked, getting ready to leave the small café. Knuckles frowned at the screen, but also looked like he was readying himself to go to their littlest brother. “Nah, I don't think there's anything out here anymore.” The fox shook his head as continued walking through trees. “Anymore?” The echidna asked, raising a brow as he leaned over to look at the communicator. “Well,” Tails took a deep breath as he pushed a bush out of his way. “The signal actually came from a village, but when I got there it was just–empty. Nobody in sight, but.. there was a lot of blood. I'm following a trail of it right now.” “What?” Sonic's ears perked in alarm as he stood from his chair, “Tails, where are you?” “Sonic, I'm fine.” The kit rolled his eyes, “Whatever caused all of that isn't here anymore. Calm down.” “You're following a trail of blood right now, kid.” Knuckles chimed in, also standing from his seat. “Where are you?” “Seriously, guys, it's–” Tails’ jaw snapped shut and he stopped walking, his full attention on something else right now. The teenagers shared a look at the abrupt stop. They watched as the fox's ears swiveled around, trying to find a sound. “..I'm not alone.” Then the call clicked off. “Tails?!” Sonic immediately went to try and locate his brother's location, swearing under his breath when the tracker was turned off. “We need to go to Jewel.” Knuckles decided before leaving the table, walking out of the café. The hedgehog scrambled to throw down a handful of rings for the bill before dashing after the echidna. What happened to their little brother?

Headcannon to counter the tails/sonic angst going around >;( I SEE YOU @0vergrowngraveyard!!!! YOU STARTED THIS DIDNT YOU!?!?!?

Tails was shot by Metal Sonic with Eggman’s newest weapon using a chaos emerald. Initially Metal thought it would tare recent through the fox, being that on testing it on other living things, the result was just that. However when the light faded the Metal hedgehog was staring right at a baby fox on the ground looking scared.

Metal Sonic had such a hard time processing this that Sonic immediately shattered the bot to nothing but scrap, (Doesn’t kill the inorganic copy due to its memory being remotely updated to the egg-cloud every hour or so) allowing the hedgehog to swipe the emerald out of the newly broken pile lying on the grass.

When Sonic runs over to the crater where the fox was standing the first thing he notices is the socks and shoes of his fox bro lying there, causing him to nearly loose himself and seek out Eggman to kill him. But just as he turns to go on the hunt to avenge his sidekick, he hears an infantile cry and finds a brown fox cub lying under the pair of socks.

Sonic gathers the pairs of shoes and socks for when his brother returns to normal, (they were his favorite hand-me-downs after all. The fox would be devastated if they were lost), but finds the cub is more elusive than he would have thought due to his small size. Realizing the little guy might not fully remember him or be scared, Sonic decides to be patient and allow the fox to come to him instead. This works far better when as soon as the fox calms down some fragment of his memory remembers his brother as the only safe place he knows and quickly attaches to him after some coaxing in the form of the mints he keeps in his quills for the kit.

The big question they have after talking with all their friends and netting professor pickle is why did the emeralds’ power do so much damage but spare the fox when it killed almost everything in it’s path when fired into anything else?

In short, the fox gets chosen by the emeralds to be a chaos user, but because he’s not a male hedgehog like shadow, sonic, or silver has to be given a new body altogether. Thus, the kit can suddenly become super when all the emeralds are near as they are now attracted to him just like Sonic when he’s experiencing strong positive or negative emotions. (See previous fics I made for @0vergrowngraveyard)

This is also where the fox’s new form comes in, being a bright blue with nine Tails (possibly meaning they turned him into a kitsune…? 0_0)while his previous color was yellow like Sonic’s when he had to use his chaos energy to go super. Now though, after the transformation his eyes gradually shift from blue to green when he ages just like Sonic. In fact, now that his friends look at him he could almost be mistaken for being Sonic’s weird kid…

And that’s what ended up happening. The emeralds turned the fox back into a cub with a newly minted chaos user’s body to finally be granted a family at the young age he deserved…

Yes, this was a long winded way of me working Dadnic into actual cannon MWAHAHAHA >;D

this is an au created by @0vergrowngraveyard. idk if there’s any real plot to it yet. it started off as character design practice then became a kitesune!tails au then it spiraled into this so i’m still figuring shit out as i go lmao

feel free to ask questions to either myself or the characters! i’m not sure how often this will be updated but i sure will try

general story:

an accident involving the chaos emeralds sends sonic to an alternate dimension (it’s kinda like a shatterverse) where his friends (+eggman and sage) have very strong connections to the chaos emeralds and all dwell on an island called the emerald isle

the main island is split into 3 areas:

- flaming core zone

- whispering woods zone

- luminous ravines zone

each area has its own unique ecosystem and little villages where his friends are seen as great protectors

there’s also one tiny island that can be seen from the shorelines of the flaming core zone that appears to be home to very futuristic technology but it’s not a place that any of the inhabitants of the main island travel to. plus it’s usually covered by fog anyway there’s no need to worry about it, right? as they say: out of sight, out of mind

in order to get home, he needs to collect all 7 of the chaos emeralds but it’s proving to be a little challenging

unsurprisingly, these new versions of his friends are a tad bit protective over their power sources and none of them are trusting sonic nearly as quickly as he hoped they would. in fact, a lot of them seem to straight up dislike him! i guess that’s what happens when you ask someone to give up their power for a complete stranger

i’ll get more into the specifics in future posts but this is the basic idea of it

i hope you guys enjoy my ramblings about this silly little idea that’s been spinning in my head like a microwave 🩵

bro i was just thinking about tails’ love language last night but with the werehog

he’s used to not being able to cuddle and nuzzle sonic, but then sonic gets turned into the werehog! he’s fluffy now and (with sonic’s permission ofc) he can show all the affection he wants without risking getting poked!

He still wants to help his brother return to normal but he will take advantage of this opportunity

Part two for the second request I submitted to @0vergrowngraveyard

Sonic was panicking, for some reason the emeralds decided that instead of being reasonable and staying put, they’d rather all circle around the fox kit. Sonic probably should have guessed something like this would happen, the emeralds were known for being notoriously unpredictable and Tails was a unique case being filled with chaos energy despite not being a user himself (even if he ignore the fact he was now a toddler)

However, Tails shouldn’t have been able to go super without Sonic… right? What changed?

The hedgehog stared in Shock at the spinning and giggling ball of fluff in mid air until the little fox grabbed his feet and flew up towards the high ceiling of the library. Sonic dashed in a streak of blue, jumping off a chair to try and reach the kid with his momentum. However, the fox was just out of reach and the hedgehog went careening into the red echidna beneath him, layering the guardian in thick quills.

“Watch where you’re jumping, hedgehog!,” he shouted grumpily. Ignoring knuckles’ comment, Sonic stood up and immediately ran back again, jumping off the wall this time to try and gain enough height on the fox.

He was within reaching distance once again before the fox took a look at him and gave a sly smirk, flying just high enough for him to miss and fall into a pile of books the fox had read over the past month or two. Sonic groaned and climbed out of the pile in a daze as he looked back up to the fox, whose nine tails swished back and forth in an almost taunting motion as he doubled over in the air laughing at his brother.

He looked back over at Amy and Cream for support only to find them snickering and video taping the whole thing. Sonic made an obscene gesture at them and Amy returned the favor. Some help they were…

Returning his gaze to the fox, he noticed he was closer now and a few feet away and above him, leaning towards him with his eyes closed and…

Was he…? HE WAS!! That little gremlin was sticking his tongue out and blowing a raspberry at him… oh it was on now. Sonic smirked, the fox wanted a challenge? Oh, he’d get one.

The blue speedster suddenly felt a hand come down on his shoulder, “while I don’t mind you chasing down the fox, could you maybe… take it outside so you don’t destroy the library?”, professor Pickle asked. Sonic was about to respond before there was a flash of light and Tails was gone. That… wasn’t good. Sonic hoped it was because he heard the professor and went outside to explore instead.

So, in a flash he was up the stairs and burst out onto the roof of the building over Spagoina. The fox kit stood at the edge of the building with a fire of blue energy surrounding his blue fur and nine tails. He looked up at Sonic, an innocent look in his eyes like he didn’t just taunt his elder brother.

This was his chance! He sped over to the kit, but just missed him when the fox once again floated above his reach. However, this time the hedgehog began plummeting nearly six stories down to the pavement on the street before he closed his eyes, bracing for impact when he noticed the landing never came.

He cracked an eye open, and noticed he was now super! How… did that happen? Usually it took a conscious effort with the emeralds for him to… wait, the emeralds! They gave him their power! But did that mean… he quickly looked back up at the fox only to see that he too was still in his super form… Oh… when he touched the kit for a brief second it must have been enough for the emeralds to give him his super form!

The kit shot away in a steak of white/blue down the streets, but this dance was already over. In a flash Sonic teleported the kit who crashed into his chest. Sonic gave a dramatic groan as the kit ran into him. “Well hey there you little twerp! You didn’t think you could outrun Sonic the hedgehog, did you?”, he said while ruffling the super-fox’s hair. Tails giggled at the motion.

Sonic frowned “are you… okay bud? Why did you run away like that?”, he asked. The kid got a guilty look and his face and rubbed his arm. Then, Sonic was stunned when he signed back “missed you, wanted to run again…” Sonic was so Shocked he was lost for words. “Oh bud… well, you can communicate now at least! Do you have your memories back too…?”, he asked in a hopeful manner. The blue kitsune out a finger to his chin before nodding repeatedly, “sure do! Though this body is… not very accommodating…”, he signed once more as he looked down frustratedly.

Sonic smiled, “Well bud, as fun as this is, I think it’s about time we head back down”, he said as he flew back towards the archive before landing. Tails pouted and crossed his arms, his nine tails wrapping him in a protective cocoon. “Ah, bud don’t be like that!”, Sonic begged. However, one tail moved away from the fox’s face revealing a tearful gaze of pleading. One look at that was all it took to defeat the hedgehog.

“Alright, fine… we’ll fly around the planet, but only a few times, deal?”, he asked. The fox jumped up off his brother with a gleeful squeal before hugging the hedgehog tight around the neck, purring softly. Sonic hugged back. He looked up, the kid in his arms, and they took off. The fox became lighter in his arms and eventually began flying beside the hedgehog, holding his hand as they flew around the planet’s different zones.

Okay… maybe brown could be his SECOND favorite color…
