i actually thought chuuya was a woman before starting bsd bc i heard that he was dazai's love interest so i automatically assumed soukoku was m/f and i was crying from joy at having a sexy stunning girlboss mafioso and i was ready to idolize this woman and be the ground she walked on,,,,,before i found out that he was rly just a ginger twink w a superiority complex. my hopes were dashed instantaneously
wait sorry i'm still thinking about fanon and the "no metas in gotham" thing and i have to dunk on bruce in sb94 #85 for a second. every time i think abt this line i just
this is one of the most egregious issues re: bruce being shitty about metas. it's also frankly kind of ooc in that... like. this guy? is supposedly friends with superman? and wonder woman? etc? lol? but in the doylist context, it's simply that batman is being written antagonistically, to show kon being a good friend to cass by standing up to him when he's being an asshole.
that being said. it's absolutely wild to me that there are people who act like bruce being an anti-meta prejudiced raging asshole is a chill and normal quirky trait that's perfectly acceptable when even when it's shown up in canon, it's received pushback immediately from characters around bruce:
or like in batgirl (2000) when he's being controlling over cass, clark shows up to tell him like. dude. chill the fuck out.
idk where i'm going with this exactly, i guess i'm just kinda thinking of how [white] fandom often does not engage with the implications of forms of bigotry that don't have 1:1 parallels in reality. like yeah metahumans don't exist in real life but. i'm sorry man but a man telling his prized possession of a daughter "i don't want you near his kind" re: a boy he considers dangerous is... not the sort of thing that exists in a vacuum. like... does the racism metaphor really have to be spelled out even more blatantly than that for people to realize it's, like. right there??
and i mean. i don't think the people going "oh lol bruce hates metas XD and everyone in the batfam is just chill with that haha" are intending to be like "yeah bruce is a racist dickwad and the rest of the bats are chill with that". i don't think they even realize that the way bruce, when written as being anti-meta, speaks about metas has direct parallels to real-world racist arguments. but that's also kinda the exact problem. why do you not realize this...
there's something so delicious about two [assumedly, ive not scoured their wikipedia articles] straight men being so comfortable with each other. something so comforting in knowing that yeah they've got this wackass sexual tension on screen and [supposedly] off and they're described as each other's boyfriends jokingly and there are endless jokes about their homoerotic relationship and yknow what. they're just fine with that. they say they love each other and they're physically affectionate and they shower each other with compliments and they make fucking soup for each other and. and they're just so soft. there's something so tasty about that. that that's something that's just fine. they are, for all of the jokes and weird energy, best friends and they've got sketchy undertones but they just. are something. and it's weird and vaguely indescribable but that's fine and. and it's just so. i go a bit feral over them.
Anyone else suddenly getting a sharp increase in followers?
I've gained more followers in the past few days than I have since before the Purge, and while on one hand, it's nice to dream that my work is reaching more people again, on the other, I'm aware my art hasn't been moving that much so it's definitely wishful thinking.

experimenting today with layer borders/stroke effects to quickly portray high-detail/texture stuff, like this wip still life of a knitting project...! doing better than past times i've tried this tip, i think
it's not very fast, bc i find i have to rly slow down + be intentional abt my lines or it starts looking pretty artificial (u know all those awful "comic book lines" filters in selfie editing apps + stuff? yeah.) but it's still certainly faster than outlining individual stitches
there's already an INCREDIBLE wealth of very nicely crafted shortcut brushes for this kind of thing in the csp assets store, including specifically for knitting stitches etc! but in my experience a lot of those have a pretty clean/crisp art style, and when ur married to very textured/grungy brushes like me, they end up looking very pasted-in or clip-art-y. :') it's such a shame bc i wish i could use all the great stuff that already exists but usually it just doesn't gel w my stuff. (<-guy who needs to learn how to make my OWN brushes)
