Met Gala 2024: Top 5 Men's Looks

So we've seen what some of the female attendee's bought to the Met Gala, and now it's on to the men of evening. As you all know I'm not into men's fashion at all but seeing as this is the Met Gala and men in the world of show business are starting to step up with their red carpet looks it's only fair I give you all my favourite looks of the night.

Like before my opinions are my own, they're not gospel so don't take what I say personally especially if you disagree. Remember fashion is art and art is subjective. 1. Gustav Magnar Witzøe wearing Versace Firstly I had no idea who this guy was until today and second I know his outfit wasn't everyone's taste. However I just love the fact that it wasn't a tuxedo or a suit in a vibrant colour. I love the fact that it's fun and eye-catching haute couture outfit designed for a man that leans into the roman and greek statues you'd find in stately gardens. 2. Sebastian Stan wearing Ami Paris If anyone was wondering who I was referring to last week when I slyly mentioned who I hoped was going to show up to the Met Gala. It was this handsome man and boy he did not disappoint because he didn't show up in a suit. I love the fact he went more casual but with the long coat and black embellished flowers that just added that final touch that to me made his look a standout. Sebastian Stan, I am free and single whenever you are... just kidding. 3. Barry Keoghan wearing Burberry This guy has been hot property in the acting world recently so it was no surprise to see him attend the Met Gala. The reason why he made my top 5 was because even though he was wearing a suit, it reminded me of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. I just love the fact that it's vintage but not at the same time and the green velvet jacket looked amazing on him. 4. Bad Bunny wearing Maison Margiela This was another outfit that has grown on me the more I look at it. I don't know what it is that I love about it but I just do and I think Bad Bunny looks amazing in it. It stands out despite the fact that it's black with hints of red in it and somehow it fits the theme perfectly.

5. Wisdom Kaye wearing Robert Wun So there's one thing I've noticed about this year's Met Gala... men look good in long coats/capes and I'm here for that trend. Wisdom Kaye stood out simply because red suited him perfectly and I love that his overall outfit was elegant but also edgy thanks to the burn marks on his hat and along the bottom of the coat.

You sit on your hotel bed as you admire the suit hanging in front of you.

After gaining immense success from your new film, you earned an invite to the Met Gala for the first time. The annual event is known for showcasing some of the best outfits and looks for the year, with hundreds of people tuning in to find their favourite celebrities creatively sporting different luxury brands. Although the Met Gala is known for seeing crazy, big, and loud attire, you and your stylist worked together to be on the simpler side of things for your first appearance.

But if you were being honest, being able to attend the Gala was not the sole reason for your excitement; it’s the fact that you get to attend alongside your longtime girlfriend, Jenna.

The Scream actress was ecstatic to learn that you had also been invited to attend, rambling about how proud she was and how you two should coordinate your outfits. You were on board with the idea and have been discussing with your stylists to make it work. However, Jenna said she wanted to keep her outfit a surprise until you were both ready to make your way to the museum. Even after pleading for hints and sneak peeks, she was adamant on surprising you on the evening of. Respecting her wishes, you eventually stop bugging her about it and tell her you’ll be excited to see the final result.

Your Chanel suit fits you to a tee, and your stylists and manager are stunned at your appearance. You were always attractive, that much everyone knew, but tonight you exude a different aura. You showed confidence and a fierceness that hadn’t been seen from you often, as if a hidden beast was unleashed for the first time.

“I’m sending this to your mother! She’d be so proud to see you,” your manager excitedly snaps pictures of you like they were the paparazzi. You laugh at all of their reactions, feeling your cheeks heat up due to the attention they were giving you.

“Guys come on, it’s just me in a suit!”

“Yeah, but you look so damn good in a suit! Why haven’t we put you in more suits?!” your stylist lights up with glee. Now you were expecting your future premieres and interviews to be done in suits.

After final touches, you head down to the hotel lobby. You patiently wait at the bottom of the grand staircase, conversing with your team. You’re lost in conversation, not realizing that everyone’s attention had been diverted to something else - or someone else. You follow their line of sight to the top of the stairs where you find Jenna.

Your eyes do not leave the girl for one moment. Your gaze is fixed on her as she slowly makes her way down the stairs. Jenna was beautiful, that’s a given fact, but tonight she looked phenomenal. There’s a lack of words on my part to describe how amazing she looked, yet the look on your face was enough to explain how you felt.

“Close your mouth babe, you’ll catch flies,” she places her hand on your chin to gently shut your mouth. You didn’t even realize how close she’s gotten to you, too mesmerized by her appearance. Your girlfriend giggles at your lack of speech and decides to give you a better view by taking a step back and twirling around.

“Well? What do you think?” you’re finally snapped out of your trance.

“Eh, I think I look better,” you tease. Jenna laughs and closes the distance between you again until she’s standing right in front of you, and she brushes off specks of dust and lint from your suit.

“I can’t deny that you do look amazing tonight, mi amor.”

“Says you. You’re beautiful, cara mia,” you add emphasis on the compliment and Jenna smiles as a familiar pink tint crawls onto her face. You wrap your arms around her waist, hers around the back of your neck.

“You know what this reminds me of?” you hum in response, curious to hear what the shorter girl had to say. “Prom night. The way you looked at me as I was coming down the stairs was the exact same look you gave me when I came out of my bedroom and you saw me in my prom dress.”

Your heart swells at the memory. Due to the pandemic, there was no opportunity for you to take Jenna to your prom. However, you still wanted her to have that experience so with the help of both of your families, you planned a makeshift prom in Jenna’s backyard. When you went upstairs to bring her outside, you remember staring at her from top to bottom and all the way around, ensuring that her beauty would forever be imprinted in your mind.

“Yeah, I remember. I can’t believe that was almost 3 years ago now,” you smile lovingly.

“And do you remember what I said to you when we were dancing in the backyard?”

“When you said you felt like Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and that the entire night felt magical?”

“Your memory truly amazes me, but yes. I feel that way right now and it’s how I feel every moment I’m with you,” the last part of her sentence turns into a soft whisper, loud enough for only you to hear. You scan her face to admire all that is Jenna, taking in the features of her perfectly crafted face and you lean into place a kiss on-

“Y/N! Jenna! Over here!”

A sea of flashing lights and the calls from reporters and the paparazzi catches both of your attention, and the two of you burst into a fit of giggles. Your managers tell you it’s time to head to the museum, so you take a step back from Jenna and hold out your hand for her to take. Your fingers interlace with each other in a perfect fit, raising your hands to place a sweet kiss on hers.

“Shall we, princess?” Jenna snorts at the nickname, but finds it endearing nonetheless.

“Lead the way, love.”

girls stun while the boys simp and cause mayhem

MAYHEM MENTIONED???? nah fr though i love thinking about this, especially if it's like the first Big event you and matty go to as a couple. i haven't yet moved on from that time matty was working with dior, so in my mind that's who you're both wearing, and god knows you analysed the essay/story they gave as theme inspiration within an inch of its life because "there is no way in HELL i am letting some tiktok twink call my dress off-theme. not a fucking chance" - matty is so fucking entertained by that, all ":D i love you so much" lol, and there's also no way in hell you're letting him turn up in a black suit, so that's that. anyway!! your outfits aren't matching, but they do correspond perfectly together, and actually you assume you'll barely get a wink of sleep the night before the met because you're so fucking excited to see your boyfriend all dressed up and hot, but he tires you out enough (wink wink) that you're both very well-rested. and matty's SO cute while you're getting ready - he's documenting it all on video like "an angel! glowing! most gorgeous woman in existence!", and you're like "baby please stop making me giggle my foundation will crease" (but actually you very much enjoy him just sitting shirtless and wet-haired and looking at you lovingly. you're only human, after all). he actually tears up when he sees you completely ready for the first time, which your MUA gets on video, and you really do feel like the prettiest girl in the world when he sniffles like "christ, you are SO beautiful. i love you. and i'm honoured to do that", bless him. and GOD, matty looks amazing, all curls and slut hoop and clean-shaven face and the colour of his shirt making his skin glow, so you have to take approximately eight million pics of and with him before you can leave. in terms of walking the carpet, you start alone and then go up the stairs and take pics together (matty's adamant he's helping you up the steps in your heels "just so you don't have a jason derulo moment, babe"), and it's testament to how truly happy matty is to be with you that he smiles for almost every pic you take together; there are a couple where you whisper "baby. i think we should be cunty" and it's both of you smizing/giving blue steel lmfao, but most are just big smiles for the camera and tender glances at each other where it is so blisteringly obvious that you're in love. they split up couples at the dinner section of the met, but it's still nice getting to meet people you think are cool at your table (zendaya! she likes your dress! she said she had your first book recommended to her and loved it!), and you sneak off to hang out with your boyfriend in the toilets (iconic, really) or the smoking area. and of course you run into charli and george - literally, the boys aren't looking where they're going and walk into each other and find it absolutely hilarious - and take some (illegal!) pics; once again, george is like "we really are punching above our weight with the girls, aren't we? look how good they look" to matty while you and charli force them to take pics of you together, and matty's literally like "yeah..." in a daze just looking at you lmfao. and if you think he's simping now, well, seeing you in your minidress for the afterparty is SO MUCH WORSE - he's jaw-on-the-floor like "must we go? i can't just keep you all to myself?", and you're like "we have to go, but i do actually plan on clinging to you on and off the dancefloor the whole night", and needless to say he's convinced lol. the events are so much fun, but your favourite bit is getting back to the hotel and ordering room service to eat in bed with the love of your life, before giggling in the shower with him while you wash each other's hair, and then falling asleep curled up safe in his arms. perfect <3

“Going to these types of events is quite stressful”

For Alexander Skarsgård, prep for the Met Gala 2024 starts weeks beforehand. Not physically – that doesn’t take long at all – but mentally. “I ask my family to, every time they see me, call out ‘Alex! Alex! Over here!’ to get ready for the press line. And throw out a lot of questions, like ‘Alex! Alex! What are you wearing? You look amazing!’” he says in his Nordic meets American twang, amusement dancing down the phone line.

He’s joking of course. But he’s also not. Events like the Met Gala can be “quite stressful” and “intense”, says Skarsgård. There’s a lot of adrenaline. Flashing lights. Faces in every direction. So on the day of, he likes to keep things comparatively quiet: staying inside, reading a book, mooching around in silence until it’s time to get ready. After the Met Gala, to decompress, he does exactly the same thing. “It’s a lot of fun, you meet a lot of friends, a lot of people you've met throughout the years and haven’t seen in a while. But again, you’re drained. Being in a quiet hotel room on my own is quite nice a few hours beforehand and I feel the same way after.”

We’re speaking a couple of hours before the big event, and although he says that red carpets like this can be stressful, he sounds relatively relaxed, joking and laughing often (although he is an actor, so). He hasn’t gotten dressed yet – he’ll be wearing a custom double-breasted wool suit by Calvin Klein, a brand he’s worked with for over a decade – with his hair styled in the way he usually wears it (no product, no shampoo for a day or two). “Because my hair’s very straight, I look like a Monchhichi doll when I wash my hair,” he says.

It was the timelessness of the tuxedo that spoke to him. After all, The Garden of Time (1962) by J.G. Ballard – this year's dress code – is all about the inevitable march of time, and trying to hold onto it for as long as possible. “I wanted to go for something timeless but also in my mind a throwback to James Cagney; that kind of double-breasted Hollywood look from the 1930s and 1940s. But then obviously, from Calvin Klein, it’s a slimmer silhouette with some classical components in terms of the rich wool fabric and the cut of it; the little details that I thought were really interesting.”

Did he have any other ideas ahead of the night before he landed on this one? “I felt like there are so many ways to go,” he says, that amusement creeping back into his voice. “You could go in a stone suit, because the couple obviously turned into stone at the end of the story. But we had to scrap that idea because moving in stone pants would be pretty difficult. Another version would be to go completely naked, I’m sure someone will do that on the red carpet. Because the exhibition involves a lot of very old, very fragile pieces that can’t be worn so that’s an interesting way to interpret it.” In the end, the tuxedo seemed the least extreme. “It helps to wear something that you’re very comfortable in. An emotional support outfit.”

His own style has always been understated and classic – and he doesn't like to buy an entirely new tux every time he attends a red carpet, never to wear it again. “The Met Gala is fun because it’s the only time of the year in which I have several fittings and wear something that’s tailor-made to me,” he says. “Normally, I have a couple of suits, one being my Calvin Klein suit from 10 years ago. I usually wear that to events. I don’t want [the situation to be that] every time you’re on the red carpet, you have to wear something new and then never wear it again. I think we consume enough in our society, that’s not something I’d want to promote or endorse.”

Despite the fact his own style is mostly understated, his favourite clothing item isn't understated at all. And he's wearing them right now: his Infinity Pool shorts, merch based on the Brandon Cronenberg film he appeared in last year. It's an insane film, one in which he plays a complicated, wildly hedonistic novelist. “They did some rare limited edition clothing and they gave me a pair of shorts and I love them. I wear them all the time. I have mixed feelings because it says ‘Infinity Pool’ all over my ass and the front is a profile of my face in neon as it's being scanned. It feels very narcissistic to walk around with a pair of shorts with the name of a movie you're in on your ass, and the front is your own face, but fortunately you can't really tell.”

Skarsgård won't be partying into the night post Met Gala. Sure, he'll go to a few post-gala events, but he needs to get some sleep. He'll be flying to Toronto first thing in the morning, where he's filming The Murderbot Diaries, a new sci-fi action comedy series with Apple TV+. “I play an android who has hacked his system so he’s got – or it’s got – free will, and it’s talking about going on these crazy adventures, but instead it’s watching soap operas,” he says.

“It’s been a blast for the last couple of months. I’m sure I’ll be tired going to Toronto tomorrow, but I am looking forward to it.”

oh my god okay so i could talk about this all day but i’m gonna choose a masculine and feminine look from my two favourite gala themes and talk about them

2018: HEAVENLY BODIES

this is by far the BEST met gala theme there has ever been . this was the most iconic year with honestly the most beautiful garments . it’s hard to pick a favourite bc there was so many gorgeous ones like shot out to zendaya and her joan of arc outfit that was gorgeous, and blake lovely rihanna cardi b sza EVERYONE tbh the looks were fantastic but here’s two i want to talk about

chadwick boseman !!!!! rest in peace chadwick you were an icon and i love you :( but this was genuinely my favourite masculine costume that year it’s so regal . it’s simple but the ornate details across the front of the cape and the suit bring this element of delicacy that is just so elegant. almost referential to elements of design in the vatican . the off white suits the undertones of his skin as well had the entire costume been the pure white of the button up shirt it would have washed him out the warmer tone suits him. it’s so gorgeous .

for feminine i chose katy perry !!!!! al thought he outfit itself is a little basic being just a golden mini dress and high boot, the wings pull it all together for me. the absolute intricacy in the maker of these wings the designer is so fucking amazing . she is THE archangel. the added mesh layer over her dress and sleeves was a good idea i think so that there is some kind of pattern for some added detailing but nothing that’s too loud that would conflict with the wings or draw attention the bodice . this for me is one of the most underrated looks from this year everything down to the colour of her hair is perfect and the haircut itself works so well with this had she wore a wig it wouldn’t created too much going on around the neck she looks so beautiful and the impurity of the colour of the wings moving between shades of cream golds and off whites is so beautiful to me. absolutely gorgeously constructed garment . fantastic .

2019: CAMP

SO many people had trouble understanding the theme for this one just wearing ugly clothes but no girl . camp is a theatrical performance of gender art and fashion . you’re not just wearing something ‘so ugly it’s good’ you’re wearing something carefully curated to display a flamboyant and theatrical performance deeply rooted in queer culture . anyway .

lady gaga. she fucking gets it . it’s the performance of femininity and sexuality . it’s the theatrics behind her costume, the orchestration behind each reveal and her attitude change with each new outfit she appeared in . it might not be intended this way but the evolution of female sexuality present in her performance from standards of beauty representing the modest neckline and wide hip illusion created by the flowing petticoats towards the modern movement of sexual liberation ending with her present in front of a crowd in clothing that is considered inherently sexual, or ‘skimpy’ having men as the ones who removed each layer of her clothing as theatrics and the performance of sexual liberation and the entitlement to the female body . that’s just my interpretation tho .

ezra miller . I KNOW WE ALL HATE THEM THEYRE LITERALLT A CRIMINAL . but this fit went hard. the outfit incorporates both traditionally masculine and feminine aspects like the corset representing the feminine silhouette as well as the train a mockery of the masculine tailcoat becoming the feminine train indicative of the blurred lines between modern gender created by a sense of periodic fashion . the mask a hint to the experiences of the queer person hiding their uniqueness their ‘flaws’ and ‘imperfections’ that can be seen as unnatural by those looking upon them . red lipstick hidden by the mask again hinting towards that hidden femininity associated with the queer man . the multitude of eyes as well indicative of the queer persons constant vigiliamce and need to constant be aware of how they present themselves their mannerisms their appearance the way they speak it’s a reflection of constantly watching how peopel perceive you from behind the mask OUGH . maybe i’m reading too much into these.

You’re asking me to name the top five outfits of the man who literally looks yummy and amazing and perfect no matter what he wears? Mkay, I’ll try…

1.

Maybe not the type of outfit you’d wear to the Met Gala but the shirt? And the sweatpants? And the slippers? And the curls? And the fricking cuteness?

It was really hard to narrow it down to one sweater but I didn’t want to fill all five positions with sweater pics, so… soft sweater cutie!

He obviously looks insanely perfect in any type of suit but this colour is just *drags hands down face dramatically*

I love his skirts so much and, like with the sweaters, it’s really difficult to decide on just one single outfit but, once again, the cozyness won.

Not saying that it is extremely hot when he accidentally looks like one of my favourite characters but please have some Poe and Marc and Steven anyway.

The one where another thing goes wrong

Jan stared down at her phone, the two marks verifying that her message had indeed been read tauntingly staring back at her.

Hey Jackie, it‘s Jan💜 I just wanted to let you know we’re having this little party at our place this week because Goona is recording a single! 🎶 I thought maybe you’d like to come too? We’ll have plenty of music and tequila 🥂💃🏼 I asked Nicky too btw, so you’ll definitely know someone else beside us! 👯‍♀️

And then, just this morning, she had sent her their address, apologising for not thinking of that earlier. Still, left on read. In the middle of a crowded room, in one of her favourite dresses with Lagoona‘s favourite songs blasting and at least three drinks in already. But all Jan could think about was how Jackie never answered her messages. Did she text the wrong number? No, she had checked three times before sending the first one! But Jackie wouldn’t just leave her on read for two full days, would she?

„Cherié, what has you sulking like this?“, Jan hadn’t even noticed Nicky coming up beside her, a vision in silver sparkles and bright red lips. The fashion major knew how to dress for sure. But to be totally honest, Jan hadn’t even realized Nicky had showed up until now. At least that meant someone had actually followed her invite …

„Hey Nicky!“, she replied, maybe a little too fast and a little too cheerfully to be authentic. Obviously so actually, judging by the way one of Nicky‘s freshly bleached brows wandered upwards.

„Good to see you too, Janice“, the french girl said, suspicion dripping from her words even as she tried to yell over the people around them, the music blasting.

„You too“, Jan replied, dropping her phone back into her small purse, colour coordinated with her shoes. She had picked up an entirely new outfit, and now Jackie wouldn’t even see it… Or would she? Jan glanced up at Nicky, who was slightly taller now that she wore platforms. „Hey, did Jackie come with you too?“

„Oh“, Nicky shook her head, „Jackie doesn’t do parties right before exams. Gotta keep her perfect score or whatever.“ She eyed Jan, „Is that why you’re just standing here? Waiting for her?“ Caught right in the act, Jan nodded with a sigh. „I was just wondering, she didn’t even reply to my message …“

„Oh girl“, Nicky interrupted her, one of her perfectly manicured hands grabbing Jan‘s shoulder, „Her phone‘s probably still in the safe. She’s so crazy when it comes to studying I swear …“ The blonde stopped herself before trailing off, „Let’s not think of that right now, okay? I promise you its nothing personal, Jackie fucking adores you.“

She did? Jan couldn’t help the smile forming on her face at that, Nicky laughing at her. „That’s better already. Now where are those sisters of yours? I was promised a game of spin the bottle and i want it before I‘m too drunk to remember!“ Grabbing her hand, Jan pulled Nicky towards Lagoona‘s bedroom, the heavy lump in her chest already a little lighter. Nothing personal, she adored her. Her! „Come on, I know where she’ll be for that!“

The thought of Jackie being in the Lake house by herself, studying all alone still lingered in the back of her mind, but she wasn’t going to let that ruin the night for her. After all, Nicky said Jackie wouldn’t turn her down for personal reasons, and she was like super close with Jackie, so she had to know.

Just as suspected, Lagoona sat on the fluffy aquamarine carpet of her room with some of their closer friends from home. There were Alaska, Willam and Courtney, who they had met on a music festival when the they had still tried to make it as Stephanie‘s Child back in high school. Alaska was signed in with the same label that approved of Lagoona‘s single and had tried her best to support Lagoona in front of representatives. There was Adore, who they had met at a Gala they had visited with their mom, as well as some guys from similar events, one of them already basically pressed up to Willam like his life depended on the snarky blonde.

„Monét and Bob are boring“, Courtney declared just as Jan and Nicky slipped into the room, blocking out the music by closing the door shut behind them, „They said its childish to play.“

„It’s not!“, Adore gasped, slurring her words.

„No, it is“, Nicky announced there presence smoothly, sitting down between two guys who Jan believed to be somehow related to the Label that had picked up Goona. The blonde had a wicked grin on her face, „That’s why its so much fun.“

„Everyone!“, Lagoona clapped, eyes wandering over their assembled friends from the time they had lived in LA, „This is Nicky! She studies Fashion Design!“

„And she’s French!“, Alaska declared excitedly, leading to Willam rolling her eyes and swatting at the taller blonde. „No shit!“

„Okay“, Lagoona glared at the two before taking one last sip from the wine bottle in her lap, setting it down on the floor almost ceremoniously, „In old AAA and Stephanie’s Child tradition, no meeting without at least one game of spin the bottle.“ She winked at Courtney as she said so, who erupted into giggles.

Willam was less enthusiastic. „Where’s Rosie then? Haven’t seen the bitch all night.“

Lagoona glanced over at Jan with a questioning look, who simply shrugged. Neither had she. And it wasn’t like Rosé at all to miss out on some fun, especially with their old friends …

„Who caresss“, Adore whined, impatiently reaching for the bottle, „It’s better with less siblings anyways. More options!“ And with that, she gave the bottle an enthusiastic spin. It landed on one of the guys, Jan couldn’t remember his name for the life of her, who immediately shuffled forwards on his knees. The kiss was short and sweet, and Adore quickly handed him the bottle to spin next.

It continued quite similarly. Lagoona kissed Alaska, Alaska kissed one of the guys, who then shared the most awkward little peck Jan had ever witnessed with Lagoona’s boyfriend Trevor, who then had to give Adore a little peck on the cheek. Adore spun the bottle, muttering something about wanting better luck this time. The bottle spun, spun, spun and Jan took a sip of a drink someone had provided throughout the game. Suddenly, the three blonde girls across from her erupted into cheers and hollering. Putting her cup down as fast as she could, Jan stared at the bottle, pointing on Nicky.

„Finally“, Willam sighed, „Someone that’s her type!“

„Bitch“, Courtney retorted, voice way lower than Willam, „Since when does Adore like blondes?“

„She‘s obviously talking about her height, Court“, Alaska drawled, taking a sip of a cocktail she pulled from somewhere, „I bet Bianca‘s even shorter than Frenchie though.“

Adore rolled her eyes at them, shuffling a little forward on her knees. „B isn’t here and it doesn’t matter!“, she declared, maybe a little too determined to seem casual. No one got to comment on it though, because Adore‘s knees bumped against Nicky‘s, who had a small, smug smile on her red painted lips. Jan didn’t miss the glare Adore sent in Willam‘s direction before she leaned forward, both of her hands cupping Nicky‘s face, closing the gap between them. Their lips clashed together, moving rapidly, yet in unison. Adore‘s fingers dug into the short, slicked back blonde of Nicky‘s hair, who in return reached one hand up to rest on the dark haired girls jaw.

Willam hollered, getting a short smack from Courtney, and Jan tried to ignore the way her mouth ran dry while watching. Adore leaned further into Nicky, who used her free hand to support herself as she slowly but surely was pushed backwards.

Before either of the could hit the ground though, Adore pulled back, red smudged all over her mouth. She used her sleeve to wipe her mouth, smiling victoriously. Nicky chuckled, muttering something in French before sitting back down next to Jan, the bottle in hand, ready to spin. Her cheeks were reddened and lipstick smudged, and Jan found herself wanting to wipe it clean for her.

The bottle did its rounds, slowing down, before coming to a halt, its open end gaping right at Jan.

All air left the young brunettes lungs. Alaska gasped out cartoonishly, getting a shove from Lagoona.

Jan barely noticed any of her antics. Her eyes shot upwards, immediately met by Nicky‘s calm, grey gaze, blinking at her brighter than the sequins of her dress from under her full, dark lashes. They stared at each other for a long moment, before Jan suddenly felt the warmth of Nicky‘s palm on her thigh.

„Are you okay, cherié? We can always skip the round if you don’t want to …“ Jan shook her head energetically. „No, it’s fine“, her voice was almost non existent, more of a breath than anything really. For some reason, it was suddenly impossible for her to look at anything but Nicky’s lips, red all over, corners quirked up. So she was going to wipe them clean after all …

Nicky‘s free hand found Jan, stroking a strand of hair behind her ear. Her nose almost touched the tip of Jan‘s, who hadn’t even realized how she had leaned in closer. Nicky smiled slightly, something burning in her eyes that Jan couldn’t quite name. But it was alright, because whatever it was burned just about as hot as the sudden excitement in the pit of her stomach. Nicky moved even closer, and Jan closed her eyes. Their lips met gently, almost shy at first. The complete opposite of how Adore had kissed Nicky. Jan could taste whiskey on Nicky’s lips as well as citrus and soda. She smelled of Eau de toilette, as well as something more minty in her hair. Nicky kissed slowly, patient yet demanding and Jan crooked her neck to deepen the touch. She felt the subtle vibration of Nicky‘s chuckle more than she heard it, her hands finding Nicky‘s shoulders to pull her close. When she felt her tongue against her lips, Jan parted them without hesitation. Nicky slid inside, nipping at Jan‘s upper lip, experimentally licking along her teeth and Jan felt herself sigh into it. No one had ever kissed her like that. The moment felt vivid, almost magic, and it was over way too soon.

Nicky pulled back gently, her thumb stroking over Jans lips before sitting back, moving out of Jan’s space again. The younger girl almost wished she wouldn’t, but stayed quiet. Her chest still fluttered with ecstasy and she needed a few moments to calm down. This was definitely not where she had seen the night going.

„Alright“, Lagoona clapped her hands together, looking anywhere but towards Jan or Nicky. Her ears were brightly red as she scrambled to her feet. „I don’t know about you, but I’m done with this game for now. I’ll go look for Rosie, that bitch has to be somewhere.“ Trevor followed after her, the door falling shut behind them again.

Willam cackled. „Cute“, she commented, winking towards Jan, „You put on such a show, your own sister got startled.“

„Not just her“, Adore cackled, phone in hands. „People are going crazy over your soft porn.“

„What?“, Nicky and Jan let out at once. Almost knocking her cup over, Jan began go scramble for her phone. Adore had tagged her in a story. Her fingers started to shake as she clicked on it, Nicky glancing over her shoulder. „Adore!“, Jan yelped. The reality star had recorded a video of them, Jan leaning into Nicky who basically had to dip backwards, tongues intertwined and Jan‘s face curled into a dopey smile. And several hundred people had already seen it.

A buzz.

Nicky peeled her eyes off Jan‘s phone to grab her own. While her eyes were widened, she seemed a lot calmer than Jan felt. Adore had hundreds of thousands of followers …

Nicky unlocked her phone, Jan couldn’t help but glance at the screen. When she saw the notification pop up on it, she immediately wished she hadn’t. Her entire body froze. Everything stopped, the temperature must be falling several degrees, because Jan felt her whole body shiver. Her stomach twisted into one tight, painful knot and the lump in her throat made breathing impossible.

Nicky had a message from Jackie.

I'm a huge huge fan of fanart...often art was what used to draw me the quickest to a book or character and make me more eager to play it! It was also a great way - like fanfic but differently - to incorporate things you wouldn't find so easily in canon. Here are some of my favourite artists!!

@sazanes - She is not only an incredible artist - she is also a ball of enthusiasm and great talent!! We first met when she sent me Hayden-focused asks after finding out we were both Hayden stans 😄 Her art is absolutely gorgeous and packed with so much fine detail. I still remember being amazed by her while running my first Hayden Young Appreciation Week - not only did she make an art piece for every day...she also ensured that if the character was customisable, she did an art piece each for each face (she did this both for Hayden and Liam). And given that some of those faces have less representation even though they're among the best faces (esp bl!Haydens and bl!Liam) I truly, truly appreciate her commitment to representing them. My favourite art work of hers is this beautiful poster of all the Haydens in kimonos, this beautiful picture of kid!Sloane and Kim, Liam helping the Heir plant her tree, Hana with a teasing mile and her signature hot chocolate, and of course this recent one of Kiara experiencing intense secondhand embarrassment 😄

@cassiopeiacorvus - There's an incredible style, attitude and verve about her work. She's done a depiction of every MC she's created thus far and I find them amazing coz she draws them with a body diversity that you won't often find in canon. Some of my favourite artworks of hers include a drawing of Xanthe and the ACoR MC in their "sexy red outfits", a reworking of Kiara's Costume Gala outfit (which is, btw, FAR BETTER than anything PB came up with for her), Jax and Lily with the BB MC and Leah and LH MC being a "black power couple" as Cassi put it 🤗

@toyhenoctus - I absolutely love their cute and vibrant comics, with cheeky and vibrant characters. Whether it's the gun-toting Siobhan or Effie who wants to declare her love for Aurora Emery to the world, it's always a treat to read them!!

@ohmyblues - She was a recent find, and I absolutely loved her Hana drawings! The first one I saw of hers featured Hana by the Valtoria lake, during the lantern festival, and the use of colours was so unbelievable and Hana looked so enigmatic in the picture. But I think my absolute favourite so far was the one they made of Hana at the piano. The texturing of the silver dress was so detailed and sublime, and her expression of being lost in the music was blissful to see.

@shazrystyles - Shaz is an absolute treasure! I've always loved her work but got to meet her personally when a friend bought a commission from her for me as a gift. Her artwork is so soft and delicate and so fun and fresh at the same time. My absolute favourites include this compilation of Hayden Young sketches, this supercute sketch of Zig performing ballet, this amazing one of Liam as a fencer and here is Hana and her MC on their wedding day 🥹

@burnwoods - Their art and style is so beautiful and interesting, and honestly they depict the characters in such a gorgeous, realistic way. I love the watercolor, stepped-right-out-of-a-painting quality of their work. My favourite was one of the entire cast of TRR/H, a picture of Rafael and the OH MC hugging and looking like the giddy reunited lovers that they are, and this cute picture of the entire ITB crew!

@they-callme-ami - Just the fact that they do such incredible art of black characters brings me so much joy 🥰🥰🥰 Here's their awesome commission page! I'm new to their art so I'm really excited to reblog them and have more people see them!!

@ellezelindraws - I absolutely love their drawings of Hana Lee (personal favourite is the one of Hana in a pink cheongsam) and their lovely cartoons of Hana and the MC as a married couple (like this one of the MC dreaming Hana might be bald, Hana gazing admiringly at a sleeping MC, and goth!Hana). They've done some other incredible art of wlw in particular as well, like Sabina, Annabelle, Ava and Kamilah. I can't wait to see more of their art!!

@danniseyebrows - They make incredible art of a lot of characters but the ones I am most familiar with are her TRR MCs (she has one each for each LI!) My favourite of the lot is her Hana MC Valerie, and one of my most enduringly favourite works of theirs is a depiction of the MC reacting to the dress that Hana made for her (in Shanghai) in a way that truly acknowledges these women as being in love with each other 💗

Hey family! We’re coming up on Christmas time and I know there is a lot of dressing up and hopefully some dressing down and relaxing after the holidays. What is one of your favourite outfits you have dressed up in and your go to dress-down outfit?

(May sound weird but I just love fashion! Given that Mama is all things fashion, I figured everyone has some great outfits)

The left pic is my favorite dress up outfit (Curtesy of moms closet) I wore that for Christmas Eve last year and the right is my favorite kind of dress down outfit, love a good cute top and jeans-Dani

My go to dress down is always a sweater and jeans but when I do dress up, I like a classic but I also like to make it mine ya know? This dress up outfit I wore to one of the met galas I went to with mom-Ryan

So mom totally kicked our butts for this dress up outfit we wore to a National Geographic premiere because we were running late and arrived after every one else so we just threw on what we had but we loved it and mom was so mad😂-Brayden

But when we dress down, we like to keep it simple with tee shirts and jeans or board shorts-Brandon

Karl lagerfeld was an interesting individual with some interesting opinions but I’ll admit he did do some amazing work for Chanel as a creative director, anyway I hope Choupette is living her best life

I actually did like a lot of looks this year (nothing will top 2018 heavenly bodies!) I think my favourite was Anne Hathaway she looked so beautiful and that dress was amazing, I also am kind of obsessed with Jared Leto showing up in a fur suit and I’ll give it to him because he does show up with some pretty wild outfits every year

Also I have to take a moment to talk about dua lipa because she really thought she could just wear that dress (it was paired with a several million dollar necklace) but she left out the jacket and the headpiece that Claudia Schiffer originally wore on the runway and it looked to lacklustre I actually hated it

birthday-partyverse!reader... you literally basically have a part-time job just trolling matty on your socials and everyone loves you for it. that, and the fact you have so many unseen matty pics (like years' worth, from when you guys were just friends as well as ones from like the present day being a couple) and whenever you share them the fans are like "MOTHER HAS FED US TODAY!!" lol. and because you're like a really cool writer with novels and essay collections and all that fun stuff, you're also popular with the intelligent well-read sad girls (who, let's be real, make up a significant percentage of the 75 fanbase) - literally everyone loves you and the work/content you put out, or "feed" the fans with lmao. and as for people thirsting, yeah, it happens all the time! you go solo to a red carpet event one time (woman of the year-type) and you look fucking incredible, like jaw-droppingly hot, and there's pics of you posted on twitter and you post a couple of selfies and less posed shots on insta and the fans go NUTS. actually, everyone goes nuts - you make several best-dressed lists in magazines, and maybe even get some attention from the big fashion houses/brands. but yeah, twitter and your comment sections are awash with "MOTHER", "LOOKING (DIS)RESPECTFULLY", "HOTTEST WOMAN ALIVE ACTUALLY", "SLAY", "SERVING", "ATEEEEE", "PLS JUST GIVE ME ONCE CHANCE I'M BEGGING" and your personal favourite, "CAN MATTY HEALY FIGHT?" - which matty replies to via insta stories, showing off his biceps and going "yeah i can and i WILL" lol (he also reposts your pic on his stories with the caption "i can't believe she lets me smash" and then another of you being cute the same night and says "nah fr tho i'm proud of her that's my baba"). and then a bit later you and matty do your first big red carpet together (maybe british fashion awards? or maybe even the met gala? idk) and you're in complementary/coordinating outfits and the two of you look amazing and so happy and in love, like matty's in matty mode and not truman black because he can't stop cheesing at you beside him. and then all the tweets and comments are like "aww" but also "holy shit she looks incred" and then that tiktok audio where its like "we've all seen the pictures she looks absolutely beautiful... and he's there" but matty literally doesn't even care because he's doing interviews on the carpet like "just fucking look at her. i am punching above my weight soooooo bad" lol <3

hi so naturally i want to talk about the met gala cuz there are amazing things to be said about this and i wanna analyse some aspects of it because my blog and not yours. we saw a lot of avant-garde outfits on the runway as well as some more toned down ones. we saw a lot of people simply copy KL's style by dressing up as him or calling a black slip or suit with sharp white lining an adequate decision. it isn't. so i don't know who most of these people are, i just wanna talk about the looks because im passionate about it.

so these are some of my favourites, if not my favourites altogether. both of these people are wearing schiaparelli, a fashion house i am more than pleased to see revived and on runaways now. surrealist as always in style, true to the creator of the house but still modern and shocking, these two fits are to die for. the one to the right is a nude body suit which drips stylishly and methodically in pearls --- seemingly astray with no direction but when you spend more time examining the outfit you see that there are specific motifs to KL's love of pearls and jewels -- a reverse, upside down version of the neck piece near the crotch and thoughtful placement of gems. to the left is a klaus nomi-esque facial structure and look with a front-facing, toned down monochromatic fan which reminds me of the iconic mugler shell dress. [see below] this fan also has subtle vinyl décor which are nods to KL's recurring accessories. style.

we saw two white gowns with different forms of exaggeration, rihanna adorning a crowded hood of sorts with the white flowers so often seen in KL's designs. here with her husband, asap rocky, who pays tribute in his suit n tie which KL wore like a uniform as well as beaded jeans. their both wearing sunglasses can be interpreted as another motif. rocky has become more adventerous with his style when it comes to not just the met gala but to his day-to-day as well. truly the dream couple. the eyelashes on top of riri's sunglasses is an amazingly camp concept which adds the cherry on top. doja cat wore a nod to choupette, KL's cat which he carried around with him and whatnot but she did it in a much better was than he-who-shall-not-be-named did [he wore a fucking fursuit.] doja wore a oscar de la renta gown with prosthetic cat features and that flowing gown mimicking the fur of choupette. its very charming, with a little bit of a splash of camp, and i loved it. i wanna hug her.

my trends

for my 4 ss23 trends I picked sheer, low wasted, candyflooss pink, silver

sheer- sheer fabrics have always been in fashion but they will be really trending in ss23. using sheer fabrics for things such as plain evening gowns is an easy was to turn a simple dress into a more sexy glamorous dress also adding drama if paired if risky lingerie this adds shock factors also. this can work for formal and casual occasions

low wasted- a trend which first came to light in the 90s will come back into fashion. from jeans to suits to skirts everything will start to become low rise and high-rise which has been are favourite for the past few years will start to be seen less and less. although some may tend to avoid this trend, most wear paired with a crop top but for a more dressy look low wasted can be used on things such as skirts.

candyfloss pink- this soft pastel pink will be taking over next season. this will be seen everywhere on everything from dress and full outfits to bags and accessories there will be something for everyone in this amazing pink.

silver- although normally silver and metallics are normally resevred for the festive period in 2023 this will no longer stand as during spring/summer silver will be trending. this trend can be dressed up and down and turned from casual to formal, from dresses to trousers there is something for everyone in this colour.

I picked these trends as I also think they will fit well with my 1920s era and the my occasion I'm designing for the met gala.

What about the Met Gala? Oh my gosh, the Met Gala, that’s definitely a dream. Speaking of going all out, this year’s Fashions on the Field competition has new genderless categories: best dressed and best suited. What do you think of the changes? It’s such a monumental moment. Where we are now is an amazing and great place … of course there’s always going to be regressions … but there is a trajectory [towards inclusivity] and we are moving in that direction. I’m really hoping I see people feeling comfortable in their own skin and able to embrace themselves and show off who they are [in a fashion sense]. When it comes to dressing for the races, do you have any codes you live by? The baseline is you have to keep it classy. For Derby Day, if you’re really unsure, just wear black. It’s about balance. When I say I am going all out, it doesn’t mean it’s a massive outfit. To me, sometimes simplicity is best. You can go back in time in fashion history and draw from that. All the advice you need is there, and then you can give it a modern approach. Which era is the biggest influence on your style? I’m a ’70s girl for sure, maybe borderline ’60s, but lately I have been in to the flapper look. I’m not into the Y2K trend.
