Shinomori is cute. Here's a post.

He is so baby-faced. He hasn't changed at all since he was 22, to when he died of "old age" at 40

(Old age? With a face like that? 40 years old?? Gimme that kind of youth and hotness Shinomori-)

He has tiny eyebrows. Like a puppy's (rottweiler's, for example). So cute and tiny and fuffy

He naturally frowns. Look at him and his mouth and his lil nose

He has a thing about keeping his arms near his chest. He sits with his arms crossed, introduces himself with his hands over his torso, and even walks with his arms crossed toward Midoriya

He has such clear skin for someone who lived the rest of his life in a forest??? Why do Hikage and Yoichi have such nice skin despite living in terrible environments? (forest and vault + abandoned streets respectively)

Is easily scared

They knew their Quirks could be used, but Shinomori got scared of it when it happened. Even though he gave Midoriya his support and access to his Quirk beforehand. Depending on the translation; "it startled me", "you scared me", "it surprised me"

I'm not going to hold running from AFO against him because he knew he was running for his life. Who wouldn't run for their life when it's in danger? Shinomori was being chased by the strongest person in the country (and likely the world)

His sense of self-preservation is probably heightened by the nature of his Quirk to keep him out of danger too. Which makes him all the more sensitive and jumpy to danger and anything that startles him, especially when he has no warning

He's actually extremely tall, but is so socially inept and jumpy it's adorable. He's taller than Bruce.

Bruce is as tall as a vault door that the 2m AFO used.

(Meanwhile Kudo is down there-)

He has such a bad sense of humor that it's cute (his puns off Danger Sense)

It's also adorable how Shinomori just doesn't understand social conventions sometimes. He lived in a forest, so it made sense, but also— Midoriya shows up in the void to the vestige platform for the first time. He has no mouth, no clothes—and Shinomori's first idea is to stand in front of him menacingly and go: "I shall explain. I am Shinomori Hikage." SIRRRR

His Ability is basically like glorified anxiety. What if something is coming to hurt him? If something can hurt him? What if that tree falls while he's under it? And the ideas come so hard they hurt (although yes, it does detect ill intent and that's what sets it off)

He talks weirdly. Formal? Old-fashioned? Listening to him speak Japanese compared to others, it just sounds a bit different. (Translated subs don't show it very well, it's the voice itself methinks)

"This too, is destiny." *about Midoriya having OFA*

Kinda wise or sage-y. He did spend his life in solitude in the forests so he definitely spent a lot of time with his own thoughts. Maybe he found the meaning of life in a centipede or something one day

For someone so cute, he is also such. A fine. Specimen???

My current dubbing policy that I’m fine if the comic is a one-off comic, i love dubs! But if it’s a series of mine composed of several parts (Over 3) I do not want it dubbed.

I ask that anyone wanting to do a dub of my comic, please ask first!

I really wanna avoid situations where I have to ask someone to take something down they spent time and work on, cuz I know that totally sucks, and I’m so appreciative that someone likes the comic I made- and I think we can avoid all this with just a simple “hey can I dub this?”.

So please ask!! It’ll also let me know when I can watch the dubs I’m comfortable with! ✨ And I’d love to see them!

Why don't you allow them to do dubbing for you?

While a few people have been polite enough to ask and properly credit there’s a quite a few dubs that didn’t get permission, didn’t credit properly if at all… even credited the wrong person on purpose. And don’t get me started on people using AI voices to “dub” comics (also without crediting the source) . At least put in the effort. That’s just reposting art at this point :’> anyway it gets depressing when people say they’ve seen your art but couldn’t even find you because of that. I love the dubs that people were nice about tho 💖 it means a lot that they’d go out of their way to do that sincerely because they just liked the comics or contributed to the ideas somehow but yeah it got pretty overwhelming and bad after a while.

I’m forcing my boyfriend to watch One Piece from the beginning (only after convincing him after he enjoyed the live action). And we just met Ace and he jokingly said “well I would hope so” to the line where Ace says he’s alright with only living for the day. And man I cannot wait.

He’s already been questioning why Sabo in a movie we watched had fire powers like Ace and came to the conclusion that they have similar devil fruits but not the same and it’s great.

Sakuya's VA is trans now!!!!!! Congrats ma'am!!!!!! I LOVED her role as Sakuya and to see another VA come out as trans since the dub happened is so so so so awesome!!!! First Mikuni and now Sakuya!!!! The Servamp dub is trans let's gooooooo!!!!!!

also sorry to double post but i'm going to be thinking about this rewatch for a while now lmao

i know there are a lot of resources that talk about the differences between the sub and dub but i'm kind of losing my mind at how much better the build up felt for apocalymon in the sub?

like specifically that's the thing that's been sticking with me among all the other little differences here and there

i don't remember anything in the dub about distortions being a rampant issue, for instance, but they're mentioned frequently around the etemon arc (and actually i have to wonder if the dark network core was intended to be an extension of apocalymon past the wall of fire)

it's explicitly told in the sub that the dark masters even used the distortions to rise to power in the way they did, reformatting the world in the process

and like i know the ruins on file island (which prophesize apocalymon's return) are commented on during that first arc, but also, that's in both sub and dub. the whole distortion thread doesn't make it into the dub at all from my recollection

and then at the end explaining that the fairy time shit (1 mn IRL = 1 day in the digital world) as consequential of apocalymon!!!

i remember when i first watched 02 i was so confused as to how that fairy time 1 mn / 1 day thing was just gone!! that's part of what always bothered me when watching 02, because it felt like such a blatant ignoring of pre-established canon and the explanation in-dub never felt right (idr if they even explained it)

sub apocalymon may not be making jokes about their existential crisis of an existence but i still wanna give the damn mon(s?) a pizza

Me: The PMD anime specials are fun but man they do so many little things and changes to the plot of the games that they bug me and I'm glad there isn't really a question that they're canon to the games or superior in any way

Also Me: Fuck you Special Episode 5 if you check the anime special you CLEARLY see that the Sableye do NOT fear Dusknoir and are his special little guys!!!!!!!!!!

#i mean yeah they fucking bolt when hes defeated BUT STILL!!!!!#the shot where sableye jumps onto dusknoirs shoulder and hands him the fragment and then just chills there for a few minutes sticks with me #tbh dusknoir's actual plan in the special is a lot better than the one in the game. like if he just takes them back to the future #then they can just escape and get back again. maybe get there earlier through time travel stuff #but in the special he takes away their key to temporal tower and plans to leave them stranded. which always terrified me as a kid #cause like... goddamn what on EARTH do you do against that if he succeeded?? theres no way to get him back #they just have to wait out the inevitable now. holy shit #course dusknoir ruins the smartness of that plan by moving at the speed of molasses back to the gate but yknow its smart in CONCEPT #echoed voice #pmd posting #also the voices they choose for dusknoir in both sub and dub are reallyyyy really good

(author's note: I have three notes here. 1- "where did y find x" is an insult often used in italian to imply they have little value. 2- "You're grounded" literally "in castigo", the 'you' is implied, he basically just says "grounded", and it has a clear connotation of putting your kids in time-out when they misbehave. 3- most fascinatingly, "tiè" is untranslatable, it's a regional expression along the lines of "serves you right", sometimes accompanied by a gesture that's equally as italian-specific, called "bras d'honneur". It is the closest Keroro can get to telling his friends "get fucked" without there being trouble about vulgarity, even though I am sincerely surprised they used it.)

#ita dub #keroro #this single post took me 1 hour because i sincerely didn't know how to convey what was being said #and there is another instance of a similarly baffling moment of adaptation in this episode #that will keep me tinkering for many minutes #these posts are getting impossible to do as the person responsible for adapting gets more comfortable using less strict italian #and getting looser #i wonder what keroro said in jpn Specifically here then. to warrant this. or if we just went off like that #i mean i understand english perfectly and it doesn't quite have a Lot of expressions that we use in italian that are considered more casual #my surprise is that despite their casualness they are being used here. my toxic trait is thinking i can voice act any character i like

Really, sincerely. As much as I love Bleach even beyond my obvious area of focus—and I do—if they’re really announcing any special anime projects for the anniversary I pray to GOD it is not a full reboot of the original anime. It is an extremely flawed adaptation, but I truly would rather read it beginning to end anytime I want in the manga format than have to sit through the anime pacing for all of it all over again over years and years of slow production. And yes. I even do not want them to redo the Lost Agent arc. I’d watch it, but I don’t want it.

I’d love them to adapt the novels (at least the more canon-compliant ones, I know Spirits Are Forever With You is very contentious there). Depending on the characters they focus on, even new original stories Kubo supervises and writes would be preferential. (My own agenda there should be obvious but I’m open to other focuses too.) Just a shorter, but awesome new project gets my vote miles ahead of another ten years of anime production for a show I’ve already seen, when I could literally just read it in a few days.

#bleach #I am kinda bummed bc if they do any future Fullbringer content #I think some of the casting choices will have to be changed for the dub #which SUCKS because Travis w and Matt m did fantastic and imo are THE voices #Kugo’s like one line was done by a different guy in tybw and I just expect that to continue #which I get cuz they’ve got their whole thing they do but I hope they know I owe them my life #and I guess we’ll find out for Yukio and Riruka with part 3 #lucien d I know is still in stuff and was in TokRev which H*lu also hosts now #ANYWAY hoping for Kugo’s ‘it’s a secret’ backstory to be revealed this way lmaooo #or soul king shit generally would be cool #or anything that’s not about something boring like kenpachi or whatever
