Day 19: eyes/fae au

Barry's daughter was stolen and traded to the fae by her mother for a chance to start over. He'd like her back, please.

It's been months since his baby was stolen. Barry's trekked far and wide searching for her, but he's come up empty handed. He curses her mother. Or more fittingly, the woman who used to be her mother. He sensed that she wanted to leave, and he tried to tell her that, if she really wanted to, she could just go. He'd rather his daughter grow up with just him who adores her, than have a mother who's not interested. But instead she stole and traded their child away to the fae for a chance to start over. He's been looking for a way to get her back ever since.

He searched through the woods near his home, a small farm at the edge of town, as it's the only place that woman could've gone to find fae to talk to. But whatever fae had been there were long gone. So now he's far from home, in unfamiliar woods, hiking almost aimlessly, hoping for a miracle.

He comes across a fairy ring.

This in itself isn't his miracle. He's found a few, but has never made contact with any fae. He takes a deep breath and steps into the circle. “I need help,” he announces to the forest. “My daughter was stolen from me. Her mother traded her away to the fae. I'd like her back.”

It becomes eerily quiet. The leaves stop rustling and the birds stop chirping. There's a swirl of golden light, and a fae stands in front of him. He's tall and lithe, with brown skin, long pointed ears, gold eyes, and golden curls falling over his shoulders. “Your daughter, you say?”

Barry feels as if his breath has been taken away. Finally, progress. “Yes.”

“How long ago was this?”

“A few months. She'd just turned one when she was taken. Her name is Lilliana.”

The fae regards him and hums. “Wait here.”

He vanishes. The sounds of the forest return, but only for a moment. In another swirl of gold light, the fae returns twofold. The first one he'd been talking to stands behind a woman nearly identical to him. She's holding a young child.

His child.

She looks healthy, and unharmed. But one of her blue eyes has turned gold, and her ears have a slight point to them now.

“Lilli,” he breathes, and his hands come up instinctively to reach for her. She reaches for him in response, babbling happily.

The fae holding her draws back and glares at him. “Who are you?”

“I'm her father. I want to take her home.”

“She was given to me fair and square. I'm her mother now.”

“How is it fair that I didn't get a say in this at all? I woke up one day to my daughter gone and my wife leaving.”

Lilli reaches an arm out towards him and whines, looking up at the fae holding her. The woman strokes her hair gently, then looks back to Barry, frowning. “I was told her father wasn't interested in being such.”

“That's blatantly untrue.” He feels a lump forming in his throat. “She is all I have ever wanted. I took care of her more than her mother did. This was not a trade to benefit everybody, just her.” Lilli's starting to cry properly for him now. He looks the fae in the eye and says, “would I have come all this way if I didn't care.”

She tries to soothe the baby, and the silence stretches as she considers his words. “Let's make a deal.”

Barry leaves that interaction without his daughter, but with a promise that she'll be returned to him in a month's time. But he doesn't get to keep her forever, a month after she's returned to him, the fae, Lup, will take her back for another month.

Oddly, coparenting with a fae isn't as weird or difficult as Barry thought it would be. Sure, his daughter looks a touch different and has a dusting of magical powers, but all in all… he can operate as normal. He misses her when she's gone, but in the times he's seen Lup, she does seem to genuinely care about Lilli and her wellbeing.

When her second birthday approaches in December, they're about six months into their arrangement. He tried to negotiate Lup into letting him have her through that month, but she would have none of it. So he's alone, reading by the fireplace as a blizzard howls outside when someone knocks frantically on the door. He gets up, and opens it to Lup shivering on the doorstep with Lilli in her arms. “I'm sorry,” she says, looking frazzled and on the verge of tears, “I didn't know where else to go.”

He ushers them inside, and sits Lup down by the fire. She holds Lilli tightly against her chest. She stares into the fire, and he wraps a blanket around them. He sits across from her and asks gently, “what happened?”

She presses her lips to Lilli's hair then rests her chin on top of her head. “I left.” She's quiet for another stretch, only the crackle of the fire between them. “They found out about me bringing her back here, and they made me choose. Either I keep her there forever, or I give her back forever.” Her voice wavers, “so I left.”

“You didn't just keep her?”

She looks at him. “Would you have wanted me to?”

“Of course not, but… I mean, you're fae. The whole thing is… you know.”

“Maybe I'm sick of their whole thing,” she mutters into Lilli's hair. “You're a good man, Barry. I've been alive for a long time, and I don't think I've ever seen a mortal man travel so far and fight so hard to get his child back. I couldn't in good conscience keep her away from you.” She squeezes Lilli a little tighter, “but I didn't want to lose her either.”

Before he can answer, there's another knock on the door. He opens it to Lup's brother, who marches in past him. He stands above Lup with his hands on his hips. “Are you stupid?”

“Taako, be nice. Say hello.”

“Hello. Are you stupid?”

“I couldn't just-”

“You thought you could just leave without me?”

She blinks. “What?”

“We've been talking about how sick we are of those absolute bores, then you just up and leave without me!”

“I'm. Sorry? I didn't think you'd actually want to.”

“I'm bored of immortality, it makes things less exciting. So I'll stay here with you.”

Lup looks to Barry, asking a silent question. He shrugs. “Yeah, alright. But I've only got one spare bedroom, so you'll have to share.”

Can we pretty pls hear about how the puppets reacted when Gordon regressed in front of them for the first time

Gordon's first time regressing at the studio was involuntary. He had been on the main set, and he tripped and fell, skinning his knee.

The puppets nearby (Lilliana, Ricky, and Pearl) were confused on why he was upset- he had taken worse without too much impact on his emotional state before- but did their best to patch him up.

Ricky had heard about how doctors would give younger patients lollipops and decided to bring Gordon one, expecting the latter to grumpily shove it away.

To his surprise, Gordon took it with no complaint.

Pearl was the first one to realize what was going on, and immediately stated treating Gordon like a child, to Ricky and Lilliana's confusion. Pearl explained what was going on, and the two were immediately on board with it!

Most of the other puppets reacted the same way- confusion at first, then joy at having a kid to interact with!

The only deviations to this I can think of are Ray, who pretends he's not attached to little Gordon (but he really is), and Arnold, who doesn't really treat him any differently whether he's big or not.

The puppets who immediately got attached are Pearl, Lenard, Ricky, and Junebug!

I’ve been so excited thinking about the potential of a future Keyleth/Lilliana confrontation that I’ve ignored the equally juicy and thematically compelling Lilliana/Vilya interaction: mom v mom, agency v non-agency in missing decades of your daughter’s life, Lilliana supposedly protecting Imogen from taking on too much power and responsibility v Vilya failing her Aramente and inadvertently saddling Keyleth with the burden of leadership of the Ashari. In a way they’d have so much to sympathize. Vilya has achieved everything Lilliana supposedly wants to with her family. They have such a similar grief, but could Vilya even process that somebody would choose to lose that much time with their child.

some new posts dropped, other people have been sending in questions. i'll summarise what might be important, but it's definitely possible i've missed stuff through lack of context, so i attached all the posts to look through i'm curious how much of what's about your/'your' past is actually accurate. we might be able to find clues in what's been changed.

ask: did you consult uxie on this; answer: yes of course + team galactic as justification for bringing back old alpha zoroark guarding the cave. logical explanation here

ask: flicker's personality; answer: sweetheart, cuddly and clingy, lazy and sleeping most of the time, favourite pets are muzzle rubs. might be able to determine if something's off from how you remember...

ask: have you had a pokemon named tiph; answer: one of flicker's littermates adopted to a nice family in unova. whoever asked didn't give any reason for asking that specific name but hopefully it didn't raise suspicion

ask: would you ever own a hisuian zoroark; answer: no, first i don't like the word own, we'll be partners and equals, second they're powerful and owning one may not be safe due to poor health plus long fur and such. possibly look at the exact wording closer here?

ask: tell us more about flicker; answer: wasn't allowed pokemon growing up due to poor health and them being too energetic and/or allergies, but when flicker was born he was perfect due to gentle and short fur. how much of that is what was the case for you?

ask: plans for bringing chroma corp to greater heights; answer: conservation of native pokemon + hisuian variants, mother is working on funding hospitals more. sounds logical enough

ask: relationship with parents; answer: 'Aww, I love my parents of course. They've given me the best life they could have :)' insert X doubt meme here. and professionally worked pretty hard but that makes sense

ask: about 'yourself' + uncle's house; answer: 'you' enjoy the snow, swimming, and playing with the pokemon in the area, and house used to be a daycare, is owned by lilliana and violet, and is thought abandoned. the former - if the swimming is made up i at least give them points for swimming being super helpful for fibro; the latter - you'd be more sure than i am on whether they actually don't know or are just pretending

ask: interaction with uxie; answer: did have a couple when young, it's where the yellow in eyes comes from. not explicitly saying anything about being chosen, although this could be implicitly saying it - not familiar enough with the concept for if anyone would see that and think 'ah, chosen'

this. i am not sure what to think about it - in the best-case scenario they legitimately just want to bring back the hisuian variants and are just using your image to help get people interested in the idea for. some reason????? but i'm worried it could be a defamation attempt, now i think about it. if 'you' bring back zoroark and someone is promptly attacked by one - say, perhaps, the one that is currently pretending to be you - then 'you' will probably be blamed for it... and there's always the possibility that it's not aimed at you but something regarding all of sinnoh. bringing it back to an earlier time perhaps, though what would that even accomplish for them? makes even less sense than the whole hoenn weather debacle...

anyway. i'll keep you updated on anything that i see, though i'm a little out of it today (almost certainly unrelated. i got completely different bureaucracy going on here) so i'm not sure how much i'll be able to get out of them myself.

consulting Uxie makes sense, my parents do that before doing just about anything.

Flicker's personality is all accurate from when he was a cyndaquil, although he was never really lazy and sleepy. if anything, he followed me around constantly, he was always on that move...i hope his health is alright...

asking about Tiph is ballsy, but their response was smart, saying she was adopted out. They're being very careful not to mention any pokemon they don't currently have..

hah! flexing the power of a hisuian zoroark. actually, they might have taken that as a bit of a threat based on that phrasing. i wonder if my father captured them or if they're a wild zoroark...if they're captured this may not be what they want to some extent...

my poor health..yeah i'm allergic to most furred pokemon and grass types, and i had some other health stuff going on at the same time, so finding a partner pokemon for me was hard. they're pretty correct on that front, although most of the allergy stuff stopped being a problem when i was old enough to take medicine for it

the conservation and hospital stuff all seems right, those were Chroma Corp goals from the beginning.

aha. ahahaha. yeah no the loving the parents is a bold faced lie, but i suppose if the truth was told about that it wouldn't look good

i can sort of swim, although i wouldn't say i enjoy it. i'm not very good, have to use a kickboard. i still do it cause as you said it's good for fibro. interesting that they said auntie owns it still and its abandoned. my parents know it was left to me in uncles will, although i guess saying that would sound a bit weird and leave opportunity for more questions

Decades- 1894

1894 came and went without much fuss. Little Theo aged up into a toddler, and Eloise gave birth to not one, but two, healthy little girls-(She could only hold one for the photo) Cordelia Annette Dawson (Dellie), and her sister Elaine Margaret Dawson (Ellie). (Theo is truly outnumbered!)

To Teresa's dismay, no one died during childbirth, hooray!

To no ones surprise, Teresa has refused to interact with the babies in any way. However, Lilliana has become very fond of having little sisters. She shows them her dolls, her dresses, her bows, and dresses them up in outfits from her porcelain doll. Theodore is wary of them, but occasionally tries to talk to them.

Theodore has become very talkative, but he cant quite say anyone's names right. Teresa is Teesa, Lilliana is Lana, Cordelia is Deela. Although, he does pronounce Elaine correctly every time.

and finally, Teresa and her friends are all about to turn 13! So stay tuned for teen Teresa, Elliot and Isabelle :)

Snow crunches pleasantly underfoot as Lucretia walks up to Lilliana's house. It's a nice place in a tucked away corner of Neverwinter with lots of yard space. It's almost like a cottage. She reaches the door and stands there for a moment. She needs to just drop the box and vanish, but she gives herself a moment to think about what it would be like to knock and be invited in. Sit around all together and have brunch and cake and shower her with gifts and love. 

She shakes the image away, and before she can move to put the box down, the door swings open. 

The woman in the door, Lilli's wife Aleena, looks at her with mild confusion. "Can I help you?" 

Lucretia wills away her deer-in-headlights shock and says, "I'm sorry, I- I came to deliver this," she lifts the box, "it's a birthday gift for Lilliana." 

Aleena looks over the package, and Lucretia sees her eyes skip over the bureau logo on it. She lifts her eyes and takes Lucretia in with more scrutiny than she did initially. Her neutral expression sinks and settles into cold displeasure. Her spine straightens and she crosses her arms. "I take it you're the director, then."

"Um," there's no point in lying, Lilliana must have described her, "yes. Typically I would just wait until she came back on base, but I feel bad for interrupting her break last night with our, ah, predicament." 

"So you decided to interrupt again."

Lucretia fumbles for a response, "I- uh- sorry. I'm only here to give her this." 

Aleena's frown deepens. "She's still sleeping." 

Lucretia may not be the most socially adept person in the world, but she gets the distinct feeling that this woman doesn't like her. 

"That's fine!" She holds the box out to her, "you can take it. I don't want to be a bother." 

Aleena takes it, feels the weight for a moment. "What is it?" 

"A blanket," she's just wishing for this interaction to end. She may be the leader of a secret organization, but Aleena's glare cuts straight through her. "I noticed she doesn't like the cold. I thought it'd be fitting." Her half sun elf genes plus that one time they lost her to a frozen climate turned her into a gremlin for warmth. The blanket is a nice hand-crafted one Barry got her on a particularly cold cycle. 

Aleena tucks the box under her arm. "Okay. Is that all?" 

Lucretia can see when she's not wanted. "Yes. Sorry again for interrupting." 

Aleena says, "sure," and closes the door in her face. The click of the lock feels very pointed. 

Lucretia wills her racing heart to relax as she makes her way back down the front path. She's glad that Lilli found the tall protective wife of her dreams, but fantasy jesus is she scary. The way Aleena glared at her, she would almost worry that she knew something she shouldn't about the redaction, but her eyes skipped over the bureau logo, exactly the way they should've.

The Youth Leadership Pasco Class of 2024 celebrated their graduation at breakfast on March 15, 2024, at Timber Greens Country Club. More than 100 sponsors, school officials, parents and Leadership Pasco Board members were there to cheer on the graduating students. Winter, Year 8: Royals

(I set up this post wrong. Hopefully not putting the title in the right place does not mess up the formatting.)

I have been eager to get to this household since Lila and Deven rolled wants to get married last season.

At the start of the season, Princess Lila invites Deven Langerak over to propose and he accepts!

Deven still had a day left in university, but I had him skip it so he could move in and they could get married right away. (I didn't feel like bothering with the semester timer to let him finish in the castle, because it doesn't really matter.)

I invited aunts and uncles, siblings and their spouses, and few close friends. Even a limited guest list is a crowd.

They had a beautiful ceremony in the snow.

The guests take the party inside to dance and feast.

Queen Rosalin wants to become a witch, so she invites her good friend Justice over to see if he can help her. I didn't see any interaction for her to ask him to make that happen, so she didn't get her want.

Her time as a witch would have been brief, because her life had reached its end. :(

Queen Rosalin was the second queen of the realm. Her rule began following the death of her mother, Queen Lilliana, in the summer of Year 5, and lasted 43 simdays.

Queen Rosalin and her twin brother, Prince Florian, were the oldest of Queen Lilliana and King Anton's seven children. All except their younger brother, Prince Oliver, survive. Queen Rosalin was married twice. Her first husband, King Kevin Lam, who immigrated from a foreign kingdom, was the father of her four children, and died in the winter of Year 5 from the seasonal plague. They had been married for 17 simdays. She later remarried Grant Allbee in the summer of Year 8. Their marriage may have only been for 7 simdays, but they were happy in their golden years together.

Queen Rosalin is survived by her husband, Grant Allbee; her four children Elton, Laurence, Calvin, and Lila; ten grandchildren Roman, Louisa, Rosalie, Helena, and Adelaide Durden, Ansel and Laura Cade, Randall and Candace Clarett, and Kenton; her twin brother Florian, and her younger sisters Violette, Hyacinth, Dahlia, and Petunia. Queen Rosalin survived to the impressive age of 85 simdays.

The entire household is devastated by her loss.

They also lose three family pets this season. The cat legacy I was attempting for this family has been broken. I know there are descendants of their original cats elsewhere in the neighborhood. I could try to adopt one of them into the family or just continue with the dogs. For awhile, there were way too many pets in this household and I'm not sure if I want to have to deal with that many again.

Grant tries to encourage everyone to look to the future. There's still Lila's new baby to look forward to. Maybe she's carrying the next heir to the throne.

Unfortunately Lila and Alida are not comforted by his hopefully words. They are still very much consumed with grief and finding it hard to be optimistic.

But they have to keep moving forward.

Lila goes into labor. The baby is a boy, so unfortunately not an heir, but they are happy to welcome baby Dillon to the family all the same.

Before the season is over Lila and Deven are already trying for their next child. I think it is unlikely that they won't produce an heir in the future, but if they do not, Lila's nieces (Elton and Lucretia's daughters) are next in line for the throne. It will be interesting to see how it ends up playing out.

Big brother, Kenton, has his birthday this season too.

Preparations are made for Queen Lila's coronation. To mark the beginning of her reign, Lydia sets to work painting Queen Lila's portrait.

Once it is finished, it is hung in the main hall next to the portraits of Lila's mother and grandmother.

Family members and heads of the main noble houses are invited to the castle for a memorial service and coronation.

Princess Violette takes a quiet moment to sit in the throne room with her sister's urn, before Princess Dahlia joins her. The sisters recall how happy Rosalin was to see her daughter's wedding just days ago.

The season ends with a couple of birthdays in the servants' quarters. Alice reaches her elder years and Alida reaches adulthood. Next season Lydia, Alice, and Alida are going to move out of the castle to pursue their own ambitions and I have already moved in someone new to fill Lydia's role and be a ladies' maid to Queen Lila.

The Fall Formal was a cute mixer, but for her it was just another event just had to be at. It was entertaining sitting back, watching everybody interact but tonight she was out with some real friends, and a party that was invite only. You had to know somebody to get the address, because most of the time it was filled with high class people doing all kinds of drugs. 

It didn’t take long for Lilliana and her friends to find a booth, and when they did the shots started pouring. Next thing she knew, she was on the table dancing. 

“Spymaster....”

“Yes, Your Majesty~?”

“I’m growing impatient. Your reports have been lacking as of late. What exactly are you occupying yourself with, because it cannot possibly be the simple task I’ve laid before you.”

“Your Majesty, I understand your frustrations. We can report to having seen someone matching closely to your description, but it hasn’t been confirmed. As I understand, you’ve also sent others to seek him out. I believe we are close to making contact. Of course, I won’t be directly interacting with him, but as soon as we hear back from Sir Uilliam and Lady Lilliana, we will alert you posthaste.”

“... I’m trusting you. Do not fail me again. I would hardly wish to leave my kingdom in search of my son on my own, but I will if I must. And as for you....”

“I’m sure I could find another use for your butterflies elsewhere~. Maybe send them to a more competent companion~?”

“... That won’t be necessary, Your Majesty. We will not fail you.”

“Good~. I expect an updated report before the summer ends in Apricus~.”

       “ARE YOU SERIOUSLY GOING to stand there and not come with me to get some delicious italian food?” he taunted, arms crossing as he leaned against the barrier’s line, smirk tugging on his lips as he looked at the girl, “c’mon, you’re gonna make me eat all by myself? it’s my treat after all, we could go all lady and the tramp together...”

       sometimes, knowing about the supernatural and not being supernatural can make things... difficult. daniel wasn’t supposed to fucking be here, though, so she doesn’t expect him to walk in while she’s cleaning the blood off of her hands. another life taken, another to roll beneath the carpet in her mind, to lock away the turmoil of taking a life (human or otherwise). if she allows herself too much time to think on it, she’ll end up hating herself more than she already does. lily is no saint, but she also doesn’t have an opinion one way or another on what vampires decide to do with their lives. until they’re trying to kill her and then, well... things get ugly. “what’re you doing here? don’t you have a class you’re supposed to be teaching or something?” he’s indestructible, nearly, and he’ll still be here long after she’s gone. often, that’s what terrifies her most about their friendship. he’ll continue to live while she rots in the ground and too often she hopes he’ll miss her when she’s finally gone. when she’s no longer around to wrangle him from doing something stupid.
