Love love love that at the center of Knives Out and Glass Onion you have a young black woman and a young Cuban woman being Blanc’s partners and they work in tandem. Then he gives the narrative over to the women and they get justice for themselves, they claim the story and claim the narrative. Blanc is the facilitator. Yeah Rian Johnson, yeah.

ok ok ok really quickly while everything is still fresh in my mind...... UNITY.
like i said last night, i had a hard time getting into this one before now and tried playing it like 2 or 3 times before actually getting a handle on it. i have a few gripes with the game mechanics and the parkour and the structure of the leveling system (i found myself comparing this game to syndicate A LOT, which isn’t a god tier game by any means, i just find it to be more straight forward with gameplay if that makes sense because i like having my hand held 😌), but to me those things don’t hold as much weight as the story does and boy did the story get me
unity has a really strong story and stronger characters. arno and élise, those two both individually and as a duo were the main focal point for me. and i want to say they were my favorite part of this game. you know when you can just feel the love between two people? even at their worst? there were so many moments that broke me, then built me up, then broke me again lol. and god, élise’s letters to arno!!!! reading them immediately after finishing the game sent me spiraling :)))
and something i just want to note briefly, i’m also thinking that germain might be my favorite asscreed antagonist so far. just because of the stakes he creates for both arno and élise, their dynamic, etc. while he is somewhat interesting on his own (man’s a master manipulator) i think he’s far more interesting from that perspective
i will stop now, otherwise this post will turn into a novel but i really did enjoy it. so much so that i finished it within a week, and i’m usually the type to drag my feet with these games. but ah yes, i understand the love for it now
