Anon. 🥺 hello, my letterbox love. 💌🥺 people tend to be only as good as the company they keep!! and the company here is pretty wonderful, i think. 😌🌷 But HMMM, how fun that you’ve asked about tropes!! lemme have a think… i dunno!!! fic wise, when im looking for something, i’m not really searching through tropes?? because they can be so broad (it’s like my beef with enemies-to-lovers—they’re so rarely actually enemies!!! i want bloodshed!!!!!!!! i want them standing at opposite ends of the battlefield telling their right hand man or their general, don’t fucking touch that one, i want the pleasure of their blood running over my hands when i slit their throat myself like????? anyways phew we won’t go down that rabbit hole lalalalalala). but i like… i like when the main character is like, seriously hurt or sick or hides it!!!! but everyone around them knows something’s off, but doesn’t have any actual clue and want to help but don’t know how, the whole thing is so good, but this is only good if it’s paired with hurt/comfort, if it’s like, hurt/no comfort then i’m like, D:

i also like… emotionally intelligent characters!!! like, i like when the main character knows that the love interest like, likes them—but neither of them have acted on that yet for whatever reason, but it’s in the tiny things. 🥺 i like anything that will give a build up, basically, LOL. AU wise, hmm… it differs!!! like my tastes for AUs with general or canon-ship fic play by different rules than my tastes for AUs in Reader fics. i really like spiderman AUs for general/canon ships LOL. fantasy AUs overall are also very, very good. 😌 A/B/O is also fun, i mean, we all know what that AU is for LOL, but also i like the idea of them being more lighthearted. 🥺 sometimes i like yandere AUs!!! or is that a trope?? anyways, it depends on the character!!!! some characters suit the yan life more than others (like deku, he is absolutely a freaky lil yan and i refuse to hear otherwise. hawks!!! hawks could also easily be yan. and then you have the villains of BNHA, of course) idk idk idk. tropes and AUs by themselves are not generally enough to persuade or dissuade me on reading something—i’ll look at the summary, at how it’s written, like, how entertained i am—there’s a lot of factors!! and to be honest i find the tiktokification/social media effort of categorising things neatly and the bleed over effect that’s having on like, publishing pushing its authors to advertise their work in terms of tropes (especially romance, or YA authors) to be disheartening! i know we talk about and swap fics here in our fanfic communities in terms of tropes and AUs, but it’s different here? it’s more organic here. it’s the given rule of how you operate. idk!!! it’s a fascinating discussion i suppose. 🧐
