Revitalizing Odori-Koen Park: Yokohama's Winter Art Exhibition

Location: Odori-Koen Park, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Japan Timestamp: 17:29 on December 19, 2023

Navigating the vibrant streets of Yokohamabashi Shotengai, my lens led me to a captivating path connecting Odori-Koen Park and Bandobashi Station. Thirty traditional Japanese paintings adorned this path, their brilliance amplified by backlit acrylic panels mounted on wooden frames.

Originating from Yuzawa in Akita Prefecture, these artworks are central to Yuzawa's Tanabata Picture Lantern Festival, a tradition spanning 300 years.

This exhibition is a collaboration between Yuzawa and the Eastern Yokohama Revitalization Association. With hopes of becoming a December tradition, the event aims to bring warmth to winter nights while highlighting Yuzawa's cultural vibrancy and culinary delights.

横浜マリンタワーには

横浜の山下公園通りの銀杏並木が、今見ごろ。

先日、行ってきました。

山下公園通りに面してスラッと建っているのが、マリンタワー。

マリンタワーと銀杏の写真は、Instagramでたくさん見かけます。

あかいくつバスが入った絵画のような写真も投稿されてて感動しました。

さて、マリンタワーと銀杏。

たしかに、この組み合わせもいいけど

ピンクの橋のアーチを入れると、パッと明るくもなるし

人形の家のガラスに映ってるのも絵になるけど。

やっぱり、横浜マリンタワーには

山下公園のバラが似合うかなぁと私は思います。

札幌雪まつりが始まりました。大通り公園は大混雑なので、閉幕まではお籠もりです(笑) 正月明け、大通り公園の脇を車で通過したのですが、なぜかクリスマスツリー(笑) 一瞬、動いた気がしたので、相方にもう一度戻ってもらったら、ツリーが植木鉢から出て車に寄って来た(笑) どうやらパフォーマンスをしているようです。このツリー、喋るので(笑)、寒くないんですか？と聞いたら寒い～とのこと、だよね(^｡^;) 配信かなにかしていたのかな。カメラ設置してたもんね。正月なのにツリー？！とツッコミ入れておきました(≧∀≦) 雪まつり期間中も、いるのかな？っていうか、いつもいるんだろうか、大通り公園に(･ω･) 不思議な夜でした。 #札幌大通り公園 #札幌テレビ塔 #クリスマスツリー人間 https://www.instagram.com/p/CoRvDJUPi8i/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

American Style Diner

Location: Kaiko-Hiroba Intersection, Yokohama, Japan Timestamp: 18:36 March 15, 2023

Since 2016, Penny's Diner has been serving up American-style hamburgers from its location in the Yokohama Boeki-Kaikan building.

Although the diner has an aesthetic reminiscent of 1950s America, what caught my attention is the historic building it's situated in.

The Yokohama Boeki-Kaikan building was constructed in 1929 as the headquarters for the Yokohama Trade Association, during the period of recovery following the devastating Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.

It's noteworthy that the building not only withstood the bombings of World War II but also still stands today, along with two other pre-war buildings on the same street near Yamashita Park and Osanbashi Pier.
