Dear Skibot99,
I was. At the time, I was in deep grief and my father pressured me to be part of the troupe in order to provide for myself. I lost my husband and thought I lost my son. In truth, I was never into magic. I loved music and singing, but I was alone and destitute, if not under my father.
Tumblr media
I married Zak because he was the only one that made me laugh and gave me the courage to keep going. I don’t regret my decisions. I only wish my father was more understanding and empathetic.

In light of me finding out Ferdie is a music producer, I bring an au brainrot literally no one is asking for:
I always wonder how Hob is still comfortably financially stable throughout the centuries. I know he mentioned in 1789 that he has money all over the world and he could go anywhere because after the 1600's shit show he's gotten more frugal and careful with his money.
But imagine: Hob picking up playing musical instruments around the time he and Dream "broke up" in 1889. The devastation of that meeting had him searching for something, anything, to help him cope with the possible forever loss of the only constant in his entire life. He has a piano in his current living room. But he's never actually touched it before. Why not learn it, right?
He's hired teachers, gone to classes, dabbled in everything remotely musical. Until eventually he settled on composing and producing. By the 50's he established an anonymous but fairly influential producer image by the moniker of "HG" (Like how Ferdie's producer name is FK because he's adorable and I love him). If you look closely at some of each new decade's greatest hits starting from the 50's, Hob's there. The little "Produced by HG" among a lot of other people. It's blink or you'll miss it but he's there. He's partly responsible for some of the best pieces of music all the way into the turn of the century.
And the producer name of HG gets passed down from "father to son." The name HG isn't just one person to the general music lovers community — it's a continuing legacy. A legacy only Hob fulfills. And by jove he's proud of it. Producing music is the best way for him to preserve decades of his life without ever showing his face to the public. He's heard his songs played on vinyl, CD's, cassette tapes, and eventually those wonderful little smartphones over the years. It reminds Hob that the change he witnesses with every new lifetime he lives, though scary, can be so utterly beautiful.
And you know how Dream finds out?
On a long drive with the windows rolled down, on a little roadtrip Hob insist they go on because "friends go on spontaneous roadtrips together, Dream!" Who was Dream to deny Hob anything after over a century of being apart? Who was Dream to shatter his hopeful expression of an innocent drive to the countryside?
Hob said he could go pick the roadtrip tunes. Because "shotgun usually picks the music." Dream is directed to check Spotify and it takes him a good ten minutes scrolling and searching for music because there is a specific sound he's looking for. Dream, being the one who holds the collective unconscious, has heard music being brought to life in Dreams. He's stayed in the shadows of great composers' dreams to hear a lovely melody. He's sat in empty theaters to watch the solo recital of young hopeful artists as they sing a song that has yet to be written.
And during his imprisonment, there was always a faint melody in his head. The song of a dreamer who longs for something, who longs for companionship, who longs for something once lost. On most days, it's that disjointed melody that brings him hope. He hums it without even thinking whenever he remembers Jessamy. He hums it even in the Dreaming, the notes becoming more clear the more he lingered on the comforting tune.
Somehow, he finds it. After accidentally clicking on Hob's profile instead of the magnifying glass for the search option. He sees a little playlist at the very top. Millions of listeners — millions of dreamers — who listen to the illustrious music producer/s HG.
Something compels Dream to tap it. Something compels him to scroll through the playlist, his thumbs seemingly knowing what to do before his thoughts ever catch up. Then he finds it, and he hears the melody before he even plays it, the song that's been playing in his head on repeat since its inception. The melody he never knew the ending to:
Dreaming of a Lonely Stranger by HG
And the melody engulfs him. Hob recognizes it as soon as it plays. He chances glances at Dream throughout the drive and in those split moments, Dream is completely transfixed – almost bodily drawn to the music. He leans forward in his seat, as far as his seatbelt would allow him, just because the speakers don't do justice to the song that Dream has longed to hear the entirety of.
The song that gave him hope.
After the song is done, Dream has tears in his eyes, falling down his cheeks in rivulets of starlight. Hob parks the car on the side of the road and asks if he's okay. Dream turns to Hob, the stars in his eyes sparkling brighter than Hob has ever seen.
And Dream leans over to Hob, presses their foreheads together, and whispers a soft but reverent "Thank you."
Hob didn't have to ask to know what he meant.

Since the Apollo Justice brainrot is kidnapping my brain again and I desperately need canon resolve that will never be released, how would you, reading this post, handle The Reveal considering that:
1. Apollo could easily channel Jove through Queen Amara if he wanted (I think that she'd gladly do it for him after what Apollo did for the kingdom) and just ask him who's her mother;
2. He's still in Khur'ain (it's been a while and I can't remember the spelling whoops) but he could go back to Japanifornia for any (?) reason which would perhaps prevent him from asking for Amara's help (?);
3. Apparently neither Apollo nor Trucy realized they're the only people (to their knowledge) with their ability yet. However, Trucy is smart and could manage to put 2 and 2 together;
4. Trucy could also ask Pearl if not Maya (since they're closer) to channel her mom and find out she's in fact alive;
5. Thalassa and Apollo's bracelets are probably one of a kind and may have been manufactured specifically for her and probably at her father's request/commission or as family heirlooms (?). Again, Trucy might find that picture of hers with the bracelets that Phoenix kept stored for his investigation in AA4. Magnifi probably died along with all his secrets but what if the guy who manufactured the bracelets is alive and maybe involved in a murder either as the victim or the culprit?
6. Involving Athena: she's smart and the type of person who would notice something odd immediately given her ability. What if, upon Apollo's return to Japanifornia, she gives a random glance at Apollo and Trucy after a while of not seeing them together noticing their resemblance? Let's suppose she jokingly brings it up either to them or to Phoenix. In the latter case what if he gives out an almost imperceptible reaction she would totally pick up on?
7. That Brushel journalist - the only other person aside from Phoenix who knows that Thalassa had a son before Trucy - is still alive. If Trucy's revival of the Gramarye Troupe exhibitions gets attention, would he do/say something about it?
8. Valant is still alive and the last time we saw him he brought up the matter of Thalassa's death as suspicious. What if he decides to reach out to her and for any reason he gets involved in something that may get him killed?
9. Thalassa herself may end up as either the victim of the culprit of the first murder Apollo may take care of as his first case on his return to Japanifornia. If Thalassa ends up as the culprit to defend, a case like this could set up Apollo as her lawyer and Trucy as his assistant in a case tributing AA4 with Klavier's return as the prosecutor. However, Thalassa still poses as Lamiroir and this case should force her to reveal her real identity. From there, other clues may direct Apollo to find out she's his mother as well;
10. Apollo is still the only person of the Wright Anything Agency who hasn't been arrested as the presumed culprit of a murder case. Involving Thalassa and maybe having one of them or both injured could create a misunderstanding if DNA tests are needed (i.e: both presumed culprits or the presumed culprit and the victim are mother and son). This would involve Ema but also Athena as his lawyer and Trucy as the assistant if Phoenix doesn't step in for any reason.
Feel free to add in to the possible scenarios and from there, how should the reveal be handled at best/how would you like it to be handled ^^

XLIII. TO SEMELE The Fumigation from Storax.
Cadmean Goddess, universal queen, thee, Semele I call, of beauteous mien; Deep-bosom'd, lovely flowing locks are thine, mother of Bacchus [Dionysos], joyful and divine, The mighty offspring, whom love's thunder bright, forc'd immature, and fright'ned into light: Born from the deathless counsels, secret, high, of Jove Saturnian [Zeus Kronion], regent of the sky Whom Proserpine [Persephone] permits to view the light, and visit mortals from the realms of night: Constant attending on the sacred rites, and feast triennial, which thy soul delights; When thy son's wond'rous birth mankind relate, and secrets deep, and holy celebrate. Now I invoke thee, great Cadmean queen, to bless these rites with countenance serene. --The Orphic Hymns 41 - 86

My headcanon is that Dhurke and Datz didn’t know what name Jove had given his baby, and so Dhurke let Datz name him, and he did so after his favourite food — Apple. To say that Apollo’s actual name is ‘Apple Justice’ (meaning that the pun in his name is ‘Apple Juice’), people kept mistaking it as ‘Apollo’ when he moved to Japanifornia, and he just decided to roll with it. The ‘AJ’ nickname we here so-often being to get around us the audience hearing Apple’s real name until later. Plus it would make perfect sense for Datz.
this has been sitting in my inbox for days because every time I see it I lose my goddamn mind again. This is one of the funniest asks I have ever received and I am not kidding. This feels canon to me. It IS canon as far as I'm concerned actually. OP ur hilarious.
Datz rolling up to the revolution meetup like "hey this is my bestie's son his name is Apple Juice and he has a dragon tramp stamp"

Claire McCallister knows Becky Botsford is WordGirl.
Tumblr media
I know! I know! Give me a second to explain and break this down.
In the very first episode of the series "Tobey or Consequences", Claire is shown to be intelligent enough to craft together devices to counter her son's robots.
This shows she's just as if not more intelligent than Tobey! There's the argument that could be made that Tobey made those devices but why would she make him? He would be able to program ways to short-wire them.
In the same episode, it was referenced that WordGirl calls Mrs. McCallister whenever Tobey commits crimes. Now I know this isn't much evidence, but let's say for this theory, she met Becky by now. This could be when she was suspicious because of how similar "Becky" and "WordGirl's" voice was.
If that ain't enough to convince you, maybe this will. In "By Jove You've Wrecked My Robot", Tobey tells Becky and I quote:
"And if you try to run off and turn into WordGirl, I'll use all the robots to destroy the city."
Now, if Claire's as smart as Tobey and we're using that for this theory, I'm pretty sure when she sees Becky, she'll put the pieces together in similar reasons. "The same hair color, the same skin tone, the same lips" as Tobey points out: "You and WordGirl are the same height, the same hair style and color... The same sparkingly smile. The same ruby lips..."
Now if Tobey put these pieces together, I think Claire, through enough time, could do so as well. I think the reason why she doesn't say anything is because one she has to make sure her son is punished for his crimes. And two, she respects WordGirl enough to not risk anyone who would use that information incorrectly to find out. The only reason she doesn't say anything to Sally who is her friend is because she either found out she doesn't know, think she knows and just playing an act and so acts none the wiser, or just don't want to ruin the current dynamic with the possibility that the Botsfords doesn't know. Another reason, she knows Tobey's happier around WordGirl and doesn't want him to be bothering Becky in her private life.
Tumblr media
This is "Robo Camp", a fairly early episode, being season 2 episode 11. At this point, she was trying to push him to cease doing robot activities:
Claire: This is going to be an important trip for you, Tobey, because you’re going to learn to appreciate nature. And hopefully grow out of this silly robot phase.
Tobey: Yes, Mother. That would make sense, except that nature is a thing of the past! Technology and robots are--
Claire: TOBEY! No robots! I don’t want a repeat of what happened last summer at basketball camp... Or two summers ago at baseball camp!.. Or last, last, LAST summer at drama camp!... I mean it, Tobey! No giant robots, end of story! You need to be more independent, and learn to do things on your own!
Btw, I think the reason why they're not very close is because they don't understand each other not that she doesn't care about him or vice versa, but I won't get into that into this blog.
Tumblr media
I can see Claire having a moment where she realizes: "Wait a minute Tobey's not happy around other kids. He's more lively around WordGirl and enjoys her company..." That type of thing. So she doesn't do much to try to stop him, not that she approves, but because she genuinely loves Tobey and values his feelings, even though she wishes he would stop with the robot attacks.
It would also explain the reason why she doesn't remove his robot privileges permanently. For people who follow abusive Claire, there's so many things to debunk this. Like in the "Talent Show Tobey" episode where she was cheering Tobey on and was genuinely proud of him until his robot destroyed the building. Given Tobey entrapped WordGirl into reading poems in this episode, you would think she wouldn't care about WordGirl. Well, do remember that it's not like Claire knows. She just thought WordGirl agreed, and was happy that Tobey was doing something she'd viewed as productive and WordGirl was kind enough to help him out.
Tumblr media
(More happy Claire please! 💯💯💯)
In the "Guess Who's Coming To Thanksgiving Dinner" episode, she was trying to enjoy the holiday, and when he left, she was searching literally everywhere for him. When he came back, she was happy to see him.
Tumblr media
(WE NEEDED MORE SCENES WITH THEM JUST BEING 😁)
In "New Year of Doom!" Tobey and Claire smiled at each other on top of a robot throughout the New Year count-probably the most touching moment between the two and shows she supports whenever he builds his robots just in a constructive way.
Tumblr media
I think if she wanted to, she would scrap all of his robots. She literally could, but she knows she would end up breaking his heart. He would be broken because he'll be forced to quit similar to when Miss Power threatened to never allow Dr. Two Brains to have cheese again. She always gave me reluctant disciplinarian type of vibes and would never do anything that would break his little heart. Off topic for a bit, that's why I wish there were more fics about Claire redeeming Tobey instead of Becky because, while I'm all for Tobecky, I feel like that makes more sense considering Tobey pressed so many buttons and disrespects her, and Becky's still a child at the end of the day while Claire is an adult so her mind is wiser, he's her son, and has more reasons to redeem him. Most of all, WordGirl's one of the superheroes of the city and don't have any obligation to redeem any of the villains besides maybe Dr. Two Brains with the whole mouse brain dilemma. She could guide them, but I feel like she would be suspicious about Tobey's change at least for a while. One last thing, while I do like redemption stories, the characters themselves have to change. Guidance is different from forcing them to switch sides. Claire redeeming Tobey stories would allow more ground to be given if that makes sense.
That aside, now, let's say Tobecky happens, and they sort out their issues especially with Tobey's (there's plenty of them as Go Gadget Go shows) I can imagine something like this occurring when a teenager or adult Becky inevitably has to tell Claire she's WordGirl because let's be honest it would avoid a lot of awkwardness. I even see her telling her family eventually, but this is how I actually see it going:
"Mrs. McCallister, I'm WordGirl..."
"...I am not blind, Becky. Though I have tried to be, for Tobey's sake. And for yours. I have suspected things about WordGirl a long time ago. I have put the pieces together as he had, though we do not speak of it. I... pretend that I don't know. And I was happy to, because it made him happy. WordGirl made him happy, when nothing else ever truly could."
If a teenage or adult WordGirl series or some other thing that continues the show ever happened where this theory was true, how do you think Becky would react to Claire knowing that she was WordGirl?

Arthur: Oh, hey Le Comte! Did you see my new book is a success in Paris?
Comte: Mmh? Oh, yes, I look it over. Nice work
Arthur: Good. Thanks, dad
Everyone in the room: . . .
Arthur: …why is everyone staring at me?
MC: You just called Le Comte dad
Jean: You said, “Thanks dad”
Arthur: What? No, I didn’t! I said “Thanks man”
Comte: Do you see me as a father figure, Arthur?
Arthur: By Jove, no! If anything I see you as a BOTHER figure, because you’re always bothering me
Leonardo: Hey, show your father some respect!
Arthur, blushing: I didn’t call him dad!
Comte: No, no, no. Arthur, I take it as a compliment
MC: It’s not a big deal. I called Leonardo dad once and he’s my fiancé
Arthur: Guys, jump on that! MC has daddy issues!
Theo: Old news! But you, calling Le Comte daddy~
Arthur: Hold up, “daddy” is not on the table here
William: But you did call him dad
Arthur: You, shut up. You’ve done nothing but lie since you got here
William: Alright, alright. I was lying about the plays, but the dad thing, that happened!
Atthur: AH-HAH! He admitted that his plays were a lie. It was a trap. All part of my crazy, devious plan
Comte: I believe you
Arthur: Thank you

OH OH WHAT ABOUT THIS ATREBODA AU I JUST CAME UP WITH because i'm currently listening to both delightful and brooding classical music. these strings are making me feel things. (bars 🔥)
victorian era england, a son of a working class man (kratos is either a blacksmith in this or does manual labor), walking in a park with his two dogs (speki and svanna! <3). he is there with his sketch book, the park is where he can find inspiration & draw in peace. suddenly he comes across a shiny pearl necklace. someone has lost this, but who could it be? he looks around and sees a young lady, a worried expression etched on her face. she is pretty, has her hair tied up, a fan in her hand, wearing a beautiful gown with bows and, by jove, pearl accessories! that must be hers!
or so atreus thinks. he has never talked to anyone of the aristocracy before, let alone be in the presence of them! but he works up the courage to ask her about the necklace in his hand. it's now or never. "e-excuse me, my lady... is this yours by any chance?"
she looks up, relief washing over her. "yes, it is! oh thank you so much for finding it! i thought i was done for..." it's a prized posession, the set angrboda has on is her mother's. she would have been heartbroken if she had truly lost it, but thnkfully there's a hero around. a lanky and akward hero, but that's not important. she then asks him to help her put the necklace on, which atreus does with shaky hands and shallow breathing (he tried desperately to hide his nervousness. but it worked!).
angrboda notices the sketchbook atreus has. she reveals that she loves to draw as well, she does it often in her free time! atreus feels happy to have find someone who shares the same interests as him, and they both sit on the bench. they talked to each other for a long time, quite animatedly too.
there's no evil stepmother in this story. there is, however, a bitter and misguided grandmother. gryla wonders where the girl has gone off to now. it is time for her singing lessons and preparations for the banquet. but she spots angrboda talking to a mere lower class boy. what is this girl doing? speaking/associating with the common folk? why is she adamant in becoming a laughing stock, like her mother was? her mother's union to her father shook the aristocratic world. it was only a miracle that gryla has gotten a second chance with angrboda. there is no way she will let her tarnish the family name. gryla must set up suitors for her, dukes, earls, barons, whoever it must be! all so she can forget all about that boy and not ruin her chance (even though she's in the wrong. very much so.)
DUN DUN DUUUUNN. TO BE CONTINUED. MAYBE.
PLEASE. ONTINEU THIS ANAON WDYDUUJHHHHGGGGG

Apollo is such an interesting character to me like I know there's a joke about the writers giving him a new backstory each game but none of the back stories contradict each other and when you put them all together it paints such a tragic picture
His biological father was killed when he was an infant. His adoptive father essentially ditched him in another country. Dhurke probably felt an obligation to keep Jove's son safe because Jove died at the palace, which is why he sent Apollo away when things started to get out of hand on Khura'in. Being a literal child, however, Apollo didn't see this as a good thing and tried to just forget about that time in his life. Our boy has no family in this new country, but he makes friends with a boy named Clay. And he becomes super attached to Clay because he literally has no one else. He's able to successfully become a lawyer but whoops turns out his mentor is a murderer, so that's a whole thing. And then his best friend is murdered. And then his adoptive father is murdered. He's been through so much, yet he's always trying to convince everyone (himself included) that he's FINE.
I picked up the Apollo Justice trilogy on Switch and I've been playing it backwards (Spirit of Justice -> Dual Destinies -> Apollo Justice) which has been really interesting because it more or less tells Apollo's history in chronological order. (And yes, I did play all three games in the correct order on the 3DS back in the day in case anyone was wondering.)

Hello I am thinking about Apollo Justice and how his 3 backstory elements as presented are a mess but when properly laid out with some thought, they work together just fine.
Apollo is thought to be an orphan in a foreign country where they have no way of finding or contacting any living family. His now foster father raises him as his own with his own son, and they’re a pretty solid family group despite the “being on the run” part. Apollo is raised up to age 9 in Khura'in and for all we know, he’s pretty happy there. However as things get dangerous, Dhurke decides Apollo being there is too dangerous and an in an attempt to keep him safe for what Dhurke assumes will be a year max, sends him to the states.
The games never clarify where Apollo is sent to and honestly, I think it’s probably a distant relative on Jove’s side, though the system or a boarding school is a possibility. Regardless, now Apollo is 9 and in a country that is entirely different to his own. Different culture, different weather, different everything. So is it any wonder that he takes an interest in the Turnabout Terror who is the closest reminder he has of Dhurke and his stories of being a defense attorney? Yeah, Dhurke might have abandoned him, but here’s a guy on screen who reminds Apollo of the way he used to view Dhurke: I can get why a 13 year old kid might follow Phoenix closely with that background. It may have been his closest reminder of home even when home hurt to think about. When Phoenix is disbarred Apollo is horrified and upon the dark age of law rushing in, decides to become a defense attorney.
Anyway, Apollo becomes friends with Clay who like him, knows what it’s like to not have a mom around (which might remind Apollo of the brother he lost when Dhurke left him here). They both have pretty focused career goals at a young age and hit it off.
Years pass and Apollo grows more bitter about his time in Khura'in which he tries to actively forget. Maybe that’s why he interns with Kristoph Gavin of all people, a cool, calm and collected attorney who has none of the bombastic persona that Phoenix does (and someone else Apollo refuses to think about). And when Apollo learns the persona was fake and that Phoenix tricked him to tear it down, who can blame him for decking him? Apollo was lied to by a defense attorney before (about going home, this is only temporary, he’ll be in touch). Who can blame him for being furious for falling for it a second time?
(When Clay dies, and Apollo doubts Athena it is because he’s trusted three defense attorney’s before, three who he thought had his back. One of them managed to redeem himself, but he’s not getting played this time. Kristoph Gavin was a bad person but he taught Apollo one important thing: evidence is evidence. Prove it or shut up. Because he’s not going to trust again without it).
It works together narratively! It just requires foresight going in so you can connect the themes from one point to another.
