MITCHELL AKUTAGAWA EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!
#MITCHELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#///AND/// AKUTAGAWA EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Yosano and Kenji spotlight too. Episode written precisely for my personal liking#Too bad no Atsushi then it would have been perfect (╥﹏╥) At least we got his voice in the episdoe preview#Alright I **LOVE** Mitchell. This is not the space to talk about it properly but I just really like how flawed she is‚#but also in a way that results funny and endearing. And I love love love how much she cares about her family and is loyal to it!!!#It makes her so noble and virtuous. I know she has so little screentime but really the way she's so harsh and in apparence self-absorbed–#But in reality so kind and altruistic... The way her hearsh ways are implied to be only a consequence of a life of struggles and her will–#to save her family's name through a noble behavior and appearance too... It makes her so complex and multilayered imo#AND just how her innate tendency to defend people spans out of her family too!!!!#In my interpretation she did NOT care for Hawthorne or like him. But she still gave her life for him because she just instinctively–#protects the people around her. I don't have any strong feelings for haw/mitch but like how to blame Hawthorne I would have–#fallen for her right that istant too.#Now to Akutagawa. I'm really endeared by this episode because I'm pretty sure that's when I started sympathizing with / liking him :')#Like that's the moment when the things Dark Era showed us and the canon Akutagawa behavior click together and the watcher goes “Oh. OH.”#At least I'm pretty sure it was for me. It's bittersweet but especially sweet.#One more thing is... Wow bsd really has been like *that* since the beginning hasn't it. It's kinda silly to think back to all the criticism#the latest arc got now.#The criticism regarding how the ridiculously high stakes have been solved seemingly effortlessly in a way that resulted very anticlimatic??#That's ALWAYS been there. “Oh no the ada is done for if they found out our base!!” *holds literally ZERO consequences*#“Oh no the Guild is done for if they destruct Zelda!!” *holds literally ZERO consequences*#“Oh no the Guild knows were our clerk is!!” *holds near to ZERO consequences*#And#“Oh no Akutagawa died!” “Oh no half world population was tuned in vampires!” “Oh no Fukuchi obtained One Order!”#“Oh no Chuuya is a vampire siding against Dazai!”#It's really the same‚ isn't it?#But like‚ we're still glad all of it happened right? Because it makes the experience enjoyable lol.#It's really about enjoying the ride I suppose.#I have more to ramble about but I've ran out of tags so I'll be doing it on my main blog reblog later#random rambles

Dazai when he fucks up his plans lies out of his ass as if trying to convince everyone it was all part of his plan.
In the Lovecraft fight he keeps talking about Chuuya's condition getting worse with time because Lovecraft takes too long to be defeated. He doesn't take his eyes off Chuuya the whole time. And then he lies to Chuuya that he was too busy being entertained.
In stormbringer the first thing he asks Adam is where Chuuya was, making it obvious that he expected him to have been rescued or safe at this point. But when he isn't there he starts blabbering about how he wants to see him tortured and he is totally on time. He even goes and tells Chuuya "oh I was planning on saving you before the torture happened but then I decided to wait" etc. And he knows the torture can lead to Chuuya snapping and goes on about how they need to get to Chuuya cause if he snaps and kills N he will be a lost cause and Dazai wants to "see him suffer as a human". Then again in sb he doesn't say a word when Verlaine literally blows the roof out and flies off cause he had no idea he could do that. And again in sb Dazai is floundering when the large number of ability users start dying because he did not expect Verlaine to be this strong, then he has a moment when Verlaine goes godzilla mode and when Chuuya uses corruption Dazai refuses to take his eyes off him, keeping track of his injuries. Makes you wonder how much of his plan in sb was trial and error, did he think the flags could potentially hold Verlaine off? Maybe he thought Adam would get to Chuuya on time but he didn't.
Sb sort of just proves that Dazai isn't this all knowing perfect plotter.
Similarly did he know Chuuya wasn't a vampire before the elevator? I doubt it cause his manga expressions are very reminiscent of how he acts in the manga when he gets blindsided or one upped in any way. Multiple times he is shown being particularly pissed at Fyodor and at no point does Dazai make it into an actual joke. His response to Chuuya showing up is angry and stressed out, his plan against Fyodor seems like it was intended to be an attempt to actually kill him because he makes it pretty clear he had no way to open the doors (Sigma's ability works on the dead). His speech is very honest and the flashbacks make zero sense because who would they fool? And he intended to get back to Fyodor's body after with Sigma to get the info. Maybe Dazai hoped Chuuya would have survived by using the whole flour idea in 15, using his gravity to move the water that touches his face away just enough to breathe. And then when the elevator thing happened and he possibly began suspecting Chuuya was on his side, he just started being a little bitch about things and later decided to act like everything with Chuuya was always a part of his plan.

One last thought.
Tumblr media
This panel. This panel....bugs me?
Mainly, this panel made me realize...we've got three 'dead' people and at least two of them are dead from things that actually...should not have killed them, or at least if it had killed them it'd look different.
Now I'm NOT saying "oh they're definitely alive". I'm absolutely leaving myself open to the idea that what I see is what's actually there; I don't want to get caught up in "I really can't stand the idea of x happening therefore this is not x" kind of thinking. I'm just saying...this is kind of off? And I will be...not-surprised, if that turns out to be a Cue or Clue, and mildly-surprised if events stand as apparently presented.
Dazai:
Has been known to be 'killed' before. (Dead Apple's a big one - got stabbed with a poisoned knife, separated from his Ability, still managed to recover. 55 minutes was just as egregious.) He can slow his heartbeat way, way down, which reduces blood flow (and blood loss), and ...there's not a lot of blood on the ground for having been shot in both shoulders there. It is theoretically possible, based on stunts we have seen him pull/survive before, that he is (again) pretending to be killed so that Fyodor will look away.
This leaves open the question of "why did vamp!Chuuya not kill him", because Chuuya is still a vampire - we see that after the shooting. I don't have an answer, so I have to leave this question open.
Atsushi:
Has been shown to have an incredible healing factor. In fact one of the very first things he's shown doing with it is in fact restoring a severed limb. So why is this what kills him? Akutagawa knows full well that Atsushi has this healing factor, he's been the one to push those limits. So if this were meant to be "Atsushi's really dead" I'd expect a severed head, not a severed limb.
Again, this leaves open the question of "why did Akutagawa not kill him", but in Aku's case that's been a question for his entire little vamp-life and we haven't gotten an answer yet. I don't see any particular way for the ADA to have collaborated with vamp!Aku on a deception, so...again, I'm not really sure whether what I'm seeing is meant to hold up as 'the truth of the matter'.
Fukuzawa:
This is the only death for which I have very little to go on. We've rarely seen Fukuzawa in action, and never against an opponent like Fukuchi. Even in Dead Apple, he was fighting something other than human. I mean. It's totally possible that yeah. Fukuzawa may have decided that it was Necessary to let Fukuchi cut him down as part of some emotional arc between the two of them. Like maybe Fukuchi wouldn't...calm down/relax/move on until he'd Settled That Score, sort of thing, and Fukuzawa went in and got into that fight as a massive distraction. Whether it kills him or not, I truly couldn't say.
What I can say though, is that Fukuzawa went into that fight with Ranpo at his side. Ranpo, who's gone on record as saying if he's in the hands of the enemy it's because he chose to be there.
Is it possible that Ranpo foresaw that if Fukuzawa faced Fukuchi, he'd die, and therefore chose to go with Fukuzawa to die beside him? Yes, I suppose it is, since that's kind of what we're being asked to believe. But Ranpo is not Dazai. That kind of ending would be Dazai's thing.
Personally, I can't help but notice that those two in specific were the agency members most likely to be able to hold Fukuchi's attention for an extended period of time. Do I know why? No, of course not. But there's room in this for a Big Reveal if there's going to be one.
I will say that if this is a deception, it's a dangerous and risky one. "Down" is necessary, if this is a plan that relies on otherwise very intelligent people figuring they've Won. But the line between "Down" and "Dead" is pretty narrow. It's always possible that the save will come too late, if one's on the way.
And in the meantime, the "wait, that...shouldn't have gone that way" feeling gets to Bug me for a whole month.

Our love is God (Nikolai Gogol x Fyodor Dostoevsky /One Shot Smut/)
!! Spoilers for Chp.111 and Ep.11-S.5 !!
Tags: Necrophilia, Fingering, Spit as Lube, Disfiguration, Blood Bath, Drinking Blood, Smut, Mental Breakdown, Nikolai being Mentally Unwell, Gore, Cannibalism, Pain, Masochism, Anal Fingering, Eyeball Eating. 1k words.
!!This is just fiction because ik there's ppl out there that don't believe that a writer can create art without wanting to make it real!!
Nikolai was left alone. Dazai went off with Chuuya and Nikolai was left with the two vampire corpses and Fyodor’s. Holding his detached arm. He thought he’d be fine, he wanted this. Surely? He wanted Fyodor dead! To..prove…he was..the strongest. But he was wrong. So much regret! Too much regret! His boyfriend…his love…his god.
God is dead, now. Died in his arms. Well not exactly, but he’s holding his arm in his. He pulled the arm out of its sleeve and started to slowly kiss it. Taking the bandages off as well. The beauty of his perfect skin was destroyed by the explosion. His arm, charred and bloody. He kissed each imperfect fingertip. Each knuckle, every part of his arm.
The same arm that touched and caressed him so lovingly. He couldn’t help but cry. He hated himself for putting those two against each other, for killing Fyodor. He was crazy, he knew it, and he thought this whole thing was a good idea, but it fucking wasn’t!
He thought for a second…his ability, that’s right, he can retrieve Fyodor’s body. He was scared as he pulled him through his hand grasping the once perfect and soft hair. He placed the corpse down across from him.
Fyodor’s skull was cracked open, half his face so unrecognisable from the crushing, his other arm had a severe amount of broken bones, Both his legs were broken. One of his legs bent so far out to the side it was hard to look at, the other was only half there. Nikolai must’ve not pulled it through as it was detached, but oh well, what could he do now, no point finding it. His torso was mostly fine apart from the fact he had a huge hole where his heart had exploded from impact. There was also the giant hole from the pole he was stabbed with, and when he pulled his body through the pole had pulled through the bottom half of his body, cutting all of it in half.
Nikolai looked over his body with blurry tear-filled eyes. He wanted to scream, he hated everything, he would do anything to change this outcome, to bring back his one and only.
He hadn’t even realised how his whole body was reacting until he felt an uncomfortable tightness in his trousers. He looked down to see that he was rock hard.
‘Of course, you always did make me so excited, didn’t you, Fedya?’ he thought to himself as he reached under his waistband, starting to stroke himself.
He moved closer, kissing Fyodor’s half intact lips. Oh fuck, the still warm blood made Nikolai so horny. It felt so good as he started slurping it up off the corpse. He grabbed a fistful of the bloody, messy, hair as he made out with Fyodor. As he pressed a little too hard Fyodor’s tongue rolled out of his mouth, already a pretty blueish-purple. Nikolai moaned as he took the tongue into his mouth, sucking and kissing it.
One of Fyodor’s eyes had been completely disfigured, same with that side of his head, and the other was hanging out of his socket. Those beautiful amethyst eyes could no longer look down at Nikolai, it made him so sad. He pulled away from Fyodor’s mouth, looking at the dangling eye. He took his hand out of his pants, using it to grab the eye, looking it over thoroughly, the thick nerve still attached. He pulled at it, seeing if it would come off. It did and honestly Nikolai didn’t know why he did that, he didn’t know where to put it. Well…maybe he could keep it somewhere on him? No- he shouldn’t, he’s already taken Fyodor’s ushanka and that’s enough for him. He took the eye, finally deciding to put it in his mouth. It was a little weird at first but as he started chewing it felt like biting into a new piece of bubblegum filled with that sour juice but this was better.
As he swallowed the eye he felt a stronger sense of desperateness from his neglected cock. He could see the wet spot on his trousers, so he decided to just throw them off, same with his underwear. He grabbed Fyodor’s arm, starting to suck on his fingers as he stroked himself again. He was so close already, Fyodor’s blood from inside his arm dripped onto his lap, helping him lube up his dick as he jerked himself off.
He edged himself till he almost came, though just before he stopped, whining, almost as if mad at himself. He took the bloody and spit covered arm, placing it to his hole. He wasn’t stretched, he wasn’t even touched there recently but he didn’t care as he shoved two of the burnt fingers into his ass. Letting out a pained scream as the cold, barely lubed up fingers thrust into his hole.
It hurt like hell but that didn’t matter, what did was the fact he could have a final time with his god, feeling his touch. He grabbed the palm of the hand tighter, thrusting it into himself quicker, the charcoal on his fingers brushing against Nikolai’s insides so painfully, scratching him up from the inside. Though all the pain was so worth it, he felt so good as he cried, it was his Fyodor that was touching him, his hand, his rotting hand.
He felt his orgasm hit like a ton of bricks when he hit his prostate with one of Fyodor’s long fingers. Making a mess all over his thick thighs. Fyodor always loved having Nikolai sit on his face and letting himself get suffocated in-between them.
Nikolai took the hand out as he panted, grabbing his strewn about garments and throwing them back on, not bothering to clean himself off. He leaned back down to the corpse, kissing it once more this time softly and lovingly, a final goodbye.
“I’ll see you in heaven, my lord. You are my liberty, and I’ll always cherish the days that you’ve helped change for me; my history, our history. Through Life and Death…it’s stronger than this stupid test I made for myself. You had all the answers for me, and I had the key to your heart.”
He gave Fyodor one final kiss on the forehead, before placing the arm in the corpse's lap, and walking off.

@gemkun asked: ❛ do you like it when i bleed for you? ❜ from dazai — ✧ ; || darker vibes.
They've done this song and dance countless times before. A smartass comment, a careless turn of phrase; sometimes that's all it takes, depending on Chuuya's mood. This time—oh, this time, he could swear Dazai was practically asking for it.
"Of course!! It's my dream!" "And what a fucking stupid dream it is." "Like yours is any better—oh wait!" "Say another word and I'll kill you, you goddamn mackerel!" "Hehe~ Dreams are better than no dreams.~"
Tumblr media
Quick as lighting, there's an enraged grip around Dazai's throat, a force of pure, unmitigated fury slamming the detective into the nearest wall. Chuuya cares not for how much it hurts, nor how difficult it might be for his former partner to breathe. Those taunting words were meant to incite and provoke, and they'd done their job a little too well.
Only three people alive know that he can't dream, and of those three, Dazai is the only one who knows exactly how much that simple fact rocks him to his core whenever he's reminded of it; knows exactly why.
The grip around Dazai's throat tightens, and there's a flash of metal between the two of them; a knife, the blade thin and deathly sharp. It comes to rest against the signature bandages around his former partner's throat, just below Chuuya's hand, pressing in harder and harder until—
Ah. There it is.
Crimson blossoms and spreads on the fabric, soaked up by bandages that normally look so white and pristine—a mockery of purity struggling to contain the darkness within.
"Do you like it when I bleed for you?"
Dazai must see the satisfaction on his face; the twisted catharsis that comes with inflicting pain while his anger burns so hot that it's threatening to engulf him entirely in the flames. He can't think straight, and the question stirs the monster within, goading and pushing. He steps closer, his hand releasing its grip only to latch onto Dazai's shoulder instead, pushing down until they're roughly at eye level with one another. Again, the knife slices, cutting away the bandages entirely.
He's no vampire, but after living as one undercover for over two weeks, the idea comes to him all too easily. The fangs still stuck firmly in his mouth suddenly have their merits, for though they're fake, they're sturdy, and just as capable of piercing flesh as the real deal. His disguise wouldn't have worked otherwise.
"Shut up." He leans in, a animalistic growl rising up from the back of his throat. A hot, wet tongue flicks out, lapping at the blood dripping from the shallow cut at Dazai's throat. It's almost tender, almost sweet—but then his head moves more to the side, and as he drops the knife, his fangs sink in.
He doesn't need blood for sustenance, yet he drinks regardless, letting the metallic taste coat his tongue. He swallows once, twice, three times, lingering after the third. This is Dazai's lifeblood spilled by him, for him. It's disgusting. It's exhilarating. It's equal parts sobering and intoxicating, and he wants more. But it's not enough. It will never be enough, and deep down, he knows why. Slowly, he withdraws his fangs, his tongue lightly brushing over the bite mark. He leans in ever closer, nosing gently at Dazai's pulse, and his eyes slide shut. "Your blood is mine, you bastard. Don't forget it."

Long post ahead!
I reached the latest chapter of bsd. I can only say that the alternating pain and relief that i felt while reading the decay of angels arc was above satisfying.
And now I'll say, my own predictions on the upcoming chapters.
Mori was revealed to have helped Tanizaki and Kenji to escape. Now, currently, ADA is plotting their plans to counter Fukuchi and the DOA. ADA was the focus of the series of these chapters, only a parts showed the mafia and those are when the Chuuya arrived with a helicopter, when Hirotsu, Gin and Tachihara (although during this tim he was siding with HD) appeared aid the ADA's escape, and when Akutagawa (as ordered by Dazai) helped Atsushi (i literally cried reading their battle with Fukuchi). After their short appearances, we have never heard of them.
Now, i think that it has a high chance that since Mori has acquired ADA, he's planning to form a team to fight Fukuchi. All of his remaining executives Chuuya and Kouyou haven't been involved in the fight that much, especially Kouyou. Chuuya since that Kunikida and Tecchou incident, had not yet appeared.
I think Mori is probably finding a way to communicate or to predict Dazai's plans. We all know that he strongly believes in Dazai's predictions and strategies, he trusts him. That being said, I think Chuuya and Kouyou will soon appear and fight Bram's vampire kin along with the other mafia ability users and some members of ADA. If Bram will be defeated, Akutagawa may be revived especially now that they have Yosano. Next, they will try to retrieve Dazai from jail, as Dazai beats Dostoevsky down. When that happens, ADA and PM will now have enough intel against the DOA. Also, I'm pretty sure that Tachihara is still alive (don't jinx it pls) and he's the one that'll convince THD to retaliate against their commander.
With that, I think that teams of two will be formed, one ADA member, one PM. And in conclusion,
We will once again see, Soukoku. And not just that, along with them fighting will be Shin Soukoku, Mori and Fukuzawa. I'm not sure with the team up for the other members but I guess Kouyou and Kyouka, Hirotsu with Gin and Tachihara, Yosano with Ranpo and Kenji, and Kunikida with Tanizaki, and if they're lucky, the remaining HD members: Jouno, Tecchou and Teruko. However imo, Jouno will most probably be two sided here. He's going to weigh which team will win first then if the DOA becomes unsuccessful with acquiring the One Order and if their evil schemes and identity will be revealed to the public, he'll side with ADA.
Also Kunikida will most likely be the one to be protecting Aya because duh.
Anyway, that's that.
I wanna see Soukoku fight along with Shin Soukoku and Mori and Fukuzawa. Oh and before we forgot, we still have The Guild. These organizations against DOA. One word. EPIC.

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT ABT THE BSD MANGA ILY THANK YOU I FEEL LIKE MY OPINION IS FINALLY VALIDATED WHICH IS: BSD has turned meh. I have become indifferent towards the plot due to the fact there are no real stakes - I feel like the OP characters like Dazai will always have a solution with a deus ex machina feel to it, making it impossible for me to care. With the recent chaos happening in the manga (I too gave up on the manga a year or so ago!), I was baffled to find out I could no longer enjoy it. My memory is poor, and I can't really pinpoint it at the moment, but BSD just... doesn't engage me as it used to. Keep in mind I was an obsessive fan of it and analyzed it to the tiniest details, but all of my great love for the series has long died, sadly. But! I am glad to hear you feel similarly about it because, yes, the potential was there, but it got terribly wasted.
Bruh don't I feel it, me and @autumn-foxfire have like monthly bitch sessions about the state of bsd at this point. I was also super invested in it in initial arcs (Up until the guild arc ended) and then slowly started petering off only to drop it the first time around the hunting dogs introduction. Then after some time i was like okay ill go give it a second shot, came to the vampire arc went 'wow this is really fuckin stupid' and dropped it again. Idk will I pick it up again, maybe I'll just stick to being an anime only, even tho I also have problems with some adaptation things but that's BESIDES THE POINT.
Please click under for The Point
The thing about Kafka is: He's really good at coming up with interesting concepts and ideas and REALLY BAD at executing them in any sort of satisfying way. Like, when I say I only like bsd until the end of the guild arc, I don't mean it was perfect. It could have handled it's female cast better, it would have been fun to see more mafia and agency team ups besides soukoku and shin soukoku, I still don't get why shin soukoku is supposed to be a replacement in training since Dazai and Chuuya still work together perfectly and even if they hate each other they hate each other less than Akutagawa and Atsushi AND have way more experience fighting together but that once again is besides the point. The point being those arcs of bsd were SATISFYING. We got introduced to two organizations, seen them butt heads and then have them forced to work together against a common enemy. It's very simple but it's effective and it's satisfying.
And then the rats struck.
While up until then bsd wasn't perfect it was fun and had lovable characters and an interesting plot and engaging dynamics. Rats arc wasn't horrible per say, the idea of the cannibalization was really fun (Though I think Kafka should have used it to get rid of Mori, nobody fuckin likes Mori) but this is where we slowly get introduced to what I think are two main failings of Kafka's writing: That he's unable to handle characters properly and that he likes writing smart things but doesn't know how to write smart things.
Kafka has a very, very bad habit of INTRODUCING TOO MANY FUCKING CHARCTERS. Every arc is a new massive group with like a bunch of members, one of who may actually end up being fleshed out before they are inventiblely replaced by another large group or maybe two why the fuck not. The mafia and the guild left lasting impressions on me and I can still name all the main members but fuck me if i know a single rat aside from Fyodor (AND ILL GET TO FYODOR). Kafka feels like someone who's idea of rising conflict is 'introduce a bigger enemy each time' and it's just so annoying. Chapters and arcs end up centering around these groups of new characters while old characters, who we loved the manga for, just fall into obscurity. He almost had me in the hunting dogs arc by giving Yosano a backstory. I was so excited! I was like!!! finally development for the agency!!! But that barely went anywhere did it. I've talked about this with Foxy but it really feels like Kafka is just BORED of the og characters and is trying to silently sideline them for his new shiny characters. When's the last time we saw Chuuya again, you know, the ex partner of one of the series protagonists? The next predicted mafia head? Is he important? Foxy tells me Dazai's been sidelined too, fUCKIN DAZAI, for a good while I was sure Kafka liked Dazai a lot better than Atsuhi for protagonist and now he's getting sidelined. I know bsd is still really popular in japan but at this point i think it would have been more merciful for Kafka to just end bsd and start a new manga with new characters instead of doing whatever weird metamorphosis this is turning out to be.
Introducing new characters isn't a bad thing of course, but bsd has become mcdonalds of new characters. They are cheap and disposable. I can't feel anything for them because I know nine times out of ten they'll barely make any impact and they'll disappear as soon as the new group slides in. When adding new characters you should do so while knowing what role those characters will play in your plot, what will they bring. If a character is just there to waffle around until they get shoved away they should probably be cut because they are wasting time and space. AND YOU SHOULDN'T SIDE LINE YOUR CORE CAST FOR UR SHINY NEW CHARACTERS YOU'LL GET BORED OF IN COUPLE OF ARCS ANYWAY, ARE YOU A TODDLER???
I still think that bsd could have been SO much better if instead of focusing on the next big evil group they just focused on shifting tension between the agency and the mafia. I mean they've had to team up for the guild and then they immediately got thrown into the cannibalization. It would have been interesting to see them pull against and pull towards those ties made during the guild arc when they are forcefully pitted against each other again (and decide that killing mori would be in everyone's best interest). Instead we got, idk I already forgot what the rats arc ended up being about, atsushi and aku team up again yadda yadda yadda, Chuuya gets done dirty and never recovers, Fyodor ruins Dazai
SO ABOUT FYODOR. As I said, Kafka strikes me as someone who REALLY likes to write geniuses and who wants people to think he's super smart but also has no idea how to show his work. At first this was okay. We had Dazai and Ranpo who were very good at pushing the plot along and sometimes you'd get explained how they got to that conclusion and sometimes you didn't but it usually wasn't a big deal. But then the writing became more and more and more of 'well he's smart so he figured it out so just trust me' without actually explaining anything and as you said, it ended up feeling boring, unengaging and very deus ex machina. You know what Kafka's writing reminds me off? That video about how Sherlock is so happy to stroke itself to how smart they look while never showing their work, you know the one. Kafka likes writing smart characters but doesn't actually know how to write smart characters so instead of giving us reasons and clues and explanations to how they come to some conclusion, how they predicted or planned or whatever, he just goes 'oh well they are super smart so they figured it out'. I don't think I need to explained why this is bad, annoying and unengaging writing. This is why i say Fyodor ruined Dazai for me, Dazai was fine as a genius but then they had to pit him against Fyodor who's another genius and things just got ridiculous. You know how in that sherlock video the guy points out the one scene that encapsulates every irritating thing about sherlocks writing. This had been it for me and BSD (thank you Foxy for helping me find the panels)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THATS NOT HOW CODES WORK, THATS NOT HOW ANYTHING WORKS, THEY WOULD JUST BE COMING UP WITH TWO DIFFERENT SETS OF CODES HERE. Even if they were both smart enough to remember every conversation in detail, how on earth are they supposed to 'guess out' what the other means. How are they supposed to confirm or deny that's what a certain word means in a way that can be understood, how can they even guess what the word the other guessed is IF THEY ARE BOTH TALKING IN CODE. KAFKA'S ANSWER: THEY'RE MONSTERS, THEY ARE JUST THAT SMART, NO NEED TO EXPLAIN IT BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST THAT SMART AND THAT'S YOUR SOLUTION AND THAT'S BULLSHIT. This scene broke bsd in half for me and honestly made me dislike Dazai for a long time (I got better), but it honestly shows so well how Kafka wanted to make his characters so smart he actually made his manga really fuckin stupid, ruining very good and interesting concept he had started with.
In the end, Kafka writes how I wrote when I was 15. With no idea where the plot is headed, adding new characters and situations whenever it strikes his fancy whether they work for the story or not, ending up just flopping around plot holes and fizzled out character arcs and boring ass writing. And that's fine for a 15yr old writing fanfiction. It's not fine for a presumably grown ass published author of a relatively popular manga.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

What's one thing about each of your muses that you hate when everyone forgets it?
Tumblr media
thank u for my life anon :’) this is going to go under a cut because oh boy its big. content warning for descriptions and drawn depictions of gore/violence and mentions of torture.
MARK TWAIN: he really is a dangerous person, despite the way he acts. he had no qualms about killing atsushi.
SUEHIRO TETCHO: he is also a very dangerous person. although he is just and fair and will not kill if necessary, he would be very terrifying to fight against.
MARGARET MITCHELL: she did everything she could to support her family.
NIKOLAI GOGOL: the four extremely gruesome murders he committed to get the attention of the ADA. shown below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
NATSUME SOUSEKI: he has connections to almost everyone in yokohama and is called one of the most powerful ability users.
EDOGAWA RANPO: oh boy. i get REALLY annoyed when people forget that ranpo is smarter than dazai at figuring things out–even though dazai beats him in terms of manipulation.
MUSHITARO OGURI: that he was the reason fyodor was able to trick ranpo
