‎ ⋆⠀⠀ʬ.ʬ.⠀⠀٬⠀⠀ THE WOMEN OF DISASTER.

‎ ‎ ┉ * ﹙ㅤʬ › L' IDÉE.⠀⠀Letalis' conceptual universe explores the hidden disaster of femininity. Through easter eggs hidden throughout their music videos, recurring themes echoed in comeback teasers, and lyrical subtexts, Letalis embraces unbridled feminine sexuality.

˓⠀⠀ ❪ &. ❫⠀ ... ㅤ ❝ Within the context of Letalis' universe, each of the members portrays a modernized heroine based on the stories of seven different mythological Femme Fatales. Each of the women portrayed in the storylines attempts to transgress a reality that has brought them limited social mobility, pain, or impairment at the mercy of the men in their lives. Though the concept rarely reaches their music videos, each of the members have had fatal moments of their own. Moments so intertwined in the overall concept of the video that fans often miss them completely.

NAIRA⠀⠀┉⠀⠀*⠀clytemnestra, a woman avenged.

Inspired by the myth of Clymnestra, Naira's image within their universe represents the non-ideal woman in a male-dominated society. In nearly every character appearance, Naira takes on a male image. Wearing masculine clothing, adopting a lower register, and even at times narrating the words of male poets and authors in the group's comeback trailers.

It is clear by the group's third album, SEDATION/SEDUCTION that Naira's motive is revenge. Among washed out blue lighting and mirroring of cold surroundings with an apathetic demeanor, the only moments Naira visually communicates emotion (typically resentment and anger) is in the presence of other men.

Naira's most profound fatal moment came through the music video for DR. FEEL GOOD in which she slowly seduces a male extra who had been flirting with other members. Eventually she takes action by impairing him before smothering him to death.

MELANIE⠀⠀┉⠀⠀*⠀circe, a woman entranced.

Inspired by the myth of Circe, Melanie's image within their universe represents the hypocritical danger of patriarchal power. In her character appearances, Melanie is typically depicted in luxurious settings of excess comfort, surrounded by men who seem to be entranced by her hypnotic stature. Across music videos, Melanie is rarely seen doing anything for herself, instead she's almost constantly surrounded by helping hands, whether men dressed in suits or even the other members.

Melanie's motive was most recently revealed in the ninth mini-album, MERCURY BLUSH where she speaks of her longing for an unchanging lover. She is almost equally as emotionally guarded as Naira, though Melanie's scenes are washed in warm lighting that represents her deceptive enchantment.

Melanie's only fatal moment came through the music video for OH MY GOD in which she is surrounded by a hypnotic aura throughout her individual scenes. Her seduction of a male extra results in his questionable death that is not shown on screen, instead the other members find a burgundy serum near him that Melanie decidedly tips over with an unreadable expression.

JUNIPER & EMMY⠀⠀┉⠀⠀*⠀the sirens, women alluring.

Inspired by the myth of the Sirens, Juniper and Emmy frequently depict mirrored images. Within the universe, they represent the pitfalls of being overcome with lust. While Juniper is distinctly emotionless, Emmy is instead overly emotional. While Juniper's smiles never reach her eyes, Emmy's smiles are entirely within her eyes. Across music videos, they are often in scenes together, mirroring each other's actions and appearances while standing back to back.

Though originally written off as the girls being rappers of visually opposite statures, the mini-album ESSENCE OF TRANQUILITY's prologue film revealed the artistic choice as being intertwined with their concept. The two take turns sharing lines with different emphasis on particular parts of their speech. Juniper speaks of her need for seduction as being a desire for destruction. Emmy, on the other hand speaks of her desire for destruction as a natural consequence of seduction.

The two share a fatal moment in the music video for FRIGID LOVE where their arms both wrap around a man. Their tugging on him eventually allow their hands to creep up to his neck. Before the viewer can process what occurs, the camera spins around the room before returning to a dead man at their feet.

NARYUN⠀⠀┉⠀⠀*⠀medea, a woman betrayed.

Inspired by the myth of Medea, Naryun's image within their universe represents the ideal woman in a male-dominated society. In all of her character appearances, she takes on a traditionally feminine image. Her hair is kept long, she wears delicate clothing, and is surrounded by pastel colors.

It is clear by the group's second album, LA FEMME MÉPRISÉE that Naryun is slowly starting to envy the other women around her who experience a degree of freedom she longs to have. Slowly, her appearances throughout their music videos become more melancholy, receiving warm light to the point of creating bloodied shadows, perhaps foreshadowing her future intents.

Naryun's only fatal moment is revealed in the music video for RED in which the main plot is a massacre of men awaiting a dinner served by Naryun herself. While the men take their seats, Naryun greets them all, entertaining them before luring them back to her kitchen where she decapitates them one by one.

HERI⠀⠀┉⠀⠀*⠀medusa, a woman compelled.

Inspired by the myth of Medusa, Heri's image within their universe represents the use of evil to repel evil. In all of her character appearances, she is usually supporting another woman. Typically, she stands just behind another member, gently coaxing them to take action to regain the power they crave or reaching a hand out in comfort.

Unlike the other members, it is not entirely clear what happened to Heri to bring her to this reality. There is an air of mystery whenever she appears, the others seem entranced by her figure and she's often seen leading the group through various uninviting locations.

JISEO⠀⠀┉⠀⠀*⠀scylla, a woman desecrated.

Inspired by the myth of Scylla, Jiseo's image within their universe represents the fear of the unknown. In all of her character appearances, she is seen running through unknown beings and figures who seem to haunt her relentlessly. Across music videos, Jiseo is almost inconsolable. Gripped by jealousy and loneliness, she takes action against the things that worry her instinctively without hesitation.

Jiseo's motive was revealed in the seventh mini-album, RUINS OF KORE, where she takes on a tone of vindication, longing for an answer to the worries that plague endlessly. She is the most emotional of all the members with her scenes washed in a disconcerting mix of cool and warm lighting often flashing in alarm as she becomes more visibly agitated.

Jiseo has yet to act out fatally. Though she has come close to acting out several music videos, another member ends up taking her place. Although it is unclear, many fans have speculated that Jiseo represents the urge within every woman to reclaim her power before being held back by her own fear of perception.
