I think I'm going to have to go with tumblr, and it's not just because we're here. Twitter and Bluesky are nice and my experiences on both are overwhelmingly positive. But tumblr has an atmosphere that encourages originality, sharing your creations and talking about things in depth.
#I dislike the mindset of making “content” and when I'm posting here I don't feel like I have to tailor my posts to be#as easily consumable by as many people as possible#microblogging platforms are fast paced and you're constantly fighting the algorithm#making long text posts is inconvenient and usually not worth the trouble#so I rarely talk about my characters or their lore outside of tumblr#what's nice is that when you ramble about your personal projects and fictional fixations here people tend to be pretty receptive to it#like they Get These Feelings and are able to analyze and read between the lines really well at least if you ask me#on top of that customizing your browsing experience and curating an organized blog is easier#and above everything I love and cherish tumblr's tag culture#very often the best commentary I get comes from tags#answered#anonymous#instagram continues to give me bad vibes and going there has always felt like a chore

A small spider-man 2099 reading guide
Just watched atsv and wondering where to start getting into Miguel O’Hara? Hate trying to figure out comic timelines? Well hopefully this guide can help a little bit. Please note its far from a definitive guide and could probably use some work but I'm hoping it helps someone out!
Also not including spider-verse appearances or those in most other comics, because we could be here forever listing every comic appearance and this is meant to be a quick guide
Miguel's original appearance was in Amazing Spider-Man #365, but that was more of a preview than anything else. I've split it pre-2000's and post-2000's, but listen to me if you have to pick one comic to read out of all of this make it the original 1992 run. You basically cannot go wrong with just reading 1992.
A few have been marked with asterisks because you really don't have to read them but it felt wrong to not include them on the list.
Pre 2000's
Spider-man 2099 (1992): Literally Required Reading. Keep in mind that the last two issues had different writers and are kinda disregarded by just about everyone. Issue #16 starts the crossover event Fall of The Hammer, a mini-guide to which I've included below. The Special and Annual take place in between issues but it's easiest to just read them last.
Spider-Man 2099 Meets Spider-Man (1995): It's short, it's sweet, give it a read.
*2099: World of Tomorrow (1996): At the time this was meant to close off all the 2099 plots, theres lots of other 2099 characters in here but a fair bit of Mig.
*2099: Manifest Destiny (1998): Further closure to the 2099 world, again lots of other characters but still a solid read. Basically waves away the last two issues of sm2099 (1992) in a slightly hilarious way and worth reading just for that.

Spider-man 2099 (2014): You can read this without the Superior Spider-man setup but depending on your prior comic reading experience you may be a bit confused. If you're a seasoned reader and used to taking weird comic shifts in stride due to missing some random issues of a completely different comic you'll be fine
Spider-man 2099 (2015): Solid run, I don't have much to say about it honestly
Marvel's 2099 (2019 event): you are better off looking up a separate guide for this one it is not my ballpark

anyone else having to go through fhjy at a snail's pace bc every time there's a teacher-student interaction (even the positive ones!) you want to set something on fire because of how much you hate high school and american academic culture and it throws you back to the Bad Old Days of actually being in high school, but also you really like fantasy high and you really like the characters and their story and the players and the way they're exploring & critiquing the US school system and basically everything about the show but actually watching it makes your brain explode?

re: the previous post, I do think that variety of person, who keeps up with a fandom for something they clearly detest, is baffling and annoying. I also however think everyone ultimately calibrates what they consider an appropriate level of dislike for a work. I've definitely gotten weird anons accusing me of not leaving something I clearly can't stand for criticizing a singular aspect of something that I considered in no way a dealbreaker, and I absolutely have quit fandoms or shows before because I wasn't enjoying myself so I do know where my personal line is drawn.
I've also seen people who I would consider deep in the "no longer enjoying fundamental aspects of this work" levels still both remaining in the fandom and complaining that other people who clearly hate the work are in the fandom. This is in fact exactly how I perceive people who seem to both resent the moon plot of Campaign 3 and who also seem to be upset that many people who are enjoying the moon plot do not consider Campaign 3 their favorite but still like it. Anyway I think the point of this is that people are baffling and annoying but you do need to just block people you find to be a source of unpleasant and unhelpful criticism instead of throwing posts in the main tag about all those miserable haters because I've seen people call minor, mild, and humorous criticism "hate" and I've seen people I'd consider to be deeply unhappy insist they're having a marvelous time. It's far too subjective to even attempt to moderate.
#i just read some stuff about the challenges of content moderation so this is very much at the forefront of my mind#i do firmly believe for example you shouldn't main tag character hate#but also i've seen totally banal posts about characters that were simply not 100% positive be called hate#and i've seen people say VICIOUS stuff about cast members and argue up and down it wasn't hate#you just have to block

It's a scene count that 1 player made from memory!
Please stop sharing it as a fact that Astarion has WAY more scenes than all your other faves!
Wyll has fewer scenes than the others and that's about the only correct thing in that count
I am sure it's an honest mistake but OP forgot to count multiple Shadowheart scenes. Same goes for Lae'ezel (possibly Gale as well)
OP counted scenes for Astarion when similar scenes trigger for the other characters as well (on the same night). but OP only counted the Astarion scene and even counted it as "possibly romantic" because Astarion flirts in the scene and well.... that is part of his personality. that does not make a lot of his scenes "romance scenes" 🥴💀
(And Shadowheart's flirting didn't make OP count her scenes as "possibly romance scene")

Are you able to talk about how you're going to approach Lea's character arc on the rival reassignment route?
Will it be a case of variances versus outher routes, flavour text, Lea going off with other companions at certain points in place of the Hunter?
I ask because admittedly I thought this is content we would not see on their route. Much like how certain choices can lock us out of a romance, I figured the same would apply for non-romance content.
Although typing that, in that scenario I guess if the player played their cards right, they could end up in a situation where the companions are just dropping one-liners like it's a post-story Bioware game.
That would make the Hunter a very lonely, lonely person. Eh, moreso than they currently are given everything.
yeah for the most part the scenes are just going to be different, but the same information will be relayed to the player.
you can potentially miss out on some scenes if you piss Lea off too much, or any of the companions for that matter; there are scenes in the second half of ch2 with Noel, for instance, that can make him very angry with you and will change the way that scene goes, and if you've been romancing him you'll miss out on a potential romantic scene since he'll cut the conversation short. same with Merry. Clementine is the only one exempt from this in ch2 because i don't give you the option to be mean to them 😇 but their scenes will differ whether or not they got hurt or if you traded them or not, etc.
with Lea, the structure of the scene and the dialogue choices will change, depending on your relationship, as well as how they respond to the dialogue depending on whether or not you agreed to talk to them later, or if you reaffirmed your partnership, if you yelled at them or let them down gently...
choices in one scene if you're "rivals":
choice 1: "I wanted a clean break."
choice 2: "…I don't know."
choice 3: "I think I just wanted to hurt you."
choice 4: "I had to do something!"
versus the same scene and choices as "partners":
choice 1: "I don't know."
choice 2: "I thought I could just ignore it..."
choice 3: "I was scared."
choice 4: "I don't trust you, Lea."
and, again, the exchange leading up to these choices is also different, mainly the tone and attitude of Lea, though the same information is exchanged. and there's a whole other set of scenes for if Lea is injured by Duncan that vary in the same way.
if you want to see it in action i would point you over to my other work, blood choke, which is farther along relationship-wise than tnp and has a significant amount of branching depending on how you treat the characters.
(hopefully this also sheds some light on why this shit is taking me so long to write 💀 lmfao)
there are going to be points of no return with the companions, you can potentially be locked out of Clem's and Lea's romance routes already, and if you're rivalry crosses the line into actively hostile, the companions will respond likewise. i wouldn't say it locks you out of their story arc, but it will change it, if that makes sense.

idk what it is about the way dungeon meshi portrays relationships but it feels so unique to me
i like all of the ships and also want none of them to be canon. it's fun to imagine literally all of them, but it's just as fun to examine the platonic relationships and what they mean
it's so refreshing to see marcille & laios' friendship but i totally get why people ship them. marcille & falin's devotion to each other is amazing to explore in any context. chilchuck & laios, laios & kabru, senshi & chilchuck, even toshiro & falin. literally every character dynamic no matter the romance/lack of it is so interesting to me
it really felt like a breath of fresh air getting into something where the relationships between characters felt both real and substantial the way they are, but also capable of being expanded upon and played with without feeling like they're betraying the main themes/ideas. man i love dungeon meshi

yall wolfwood is so silly goofy in the manga
i'm still not all that far in, but compared to both tristamp and '98, he's so expressive and goofy. sociable as hell, too. he's so upfront kind with everyone, so long as they're not hostile.
he's just like. a complete mess of a man that i'm totally digging lol
he's emotional. he's dramatic. he's a brand new flavor of babygirl all on his own- completely unlike every other rendition of him
he's still got his moments of being a serious, brooding figure, but they're kinda rare honestly. more than anything, he's just Chilling. having drinks, striking up conversations, etc.
it's been awhile since i watched 98 trigun, but i remember that iteration of wolfwood being similar, but more serious overall. he still joked around and had this hilarious funky conman energy, but he still doesn't feel as emotional as trimax wolfwood.
and tristamp ww is basically a completely different person. someone who's pretty much always serious, though still has rare moments of... almost sarcastic/forced positivity. when he jokes around, it's always like there's something else behind it- like when he made that jab at elendira or tried to force-feed meryl bug guts lmao. he's still having fun, yeah, but it's all kinda muted.
idk, it's just interesting to see him so expressive- especially after engaging with fanon ww so much and seeing him portrayed as stoic and brooding all the time. and i wanna clarify that i adore all iterations of wolfwood's personality, all for different reasons. it's just interesting to compare them
...tho his loss of melanin is a crime befitting death. his nose, too. they STOLE from him. what did he do to deserve this.
[EDIT] it's also come to my attention thanks to a lovely someone in the tags who pointed out that trimax wasn't finished when 98 was being made. that changes things! glad i know that now.

i do think its very funny how one piece is simultaneously more and less sexist than like 80% of shounen
#its like that one post that goes ''eiichiro oda is both an lgbt ally and enemy'' (which is very true)#but like with feminism#one piece#lorillee.txt#sadly enough i think one of the biggest indicators of the quality of the female characters#is that people who arent exclusively lesbians have robin or nami as their top fave character#(no offense to lesbians who are creating 80% of the content for their fave characters in fandoms who hate women. you are doing gods work)#its like. the female characters are genuinely spectacularly developed and never feel flat when compared with any of the male characters#and theyre wildly plot relevant to like the entirety of the series. if you take out the women you cant have one piece#and their dreams and personalities and characters dont revolve around the male characters#but also the tashigi vs monet fight is genuinely one of the most misogynistic things i have ever read ever#just because theres like. 5 different layers of things going on that just. it just snowballs into one terrible horrifically sexist mess#between tashigi and zoro and kuina and monet and yeah wow no . -1000000 / 10 fight worst fight in one piece no contest#and also the fact that there is 1 (one) body type for ''young woman''#as so elegantly illustrated by that one sbs (which. i will admit. it does make me laugh its funny)#oda truly is a . i dont know. something.
