there is a very real part of me that wishes greta gerwig would have focused a bit more on what it’s like to not only be a woman, but a woman of color. she had so much potential with america ferrera and her speech to draw focus on the fact that being a woman in the real world is even HARDER when you aren’t white because of all the racism that our world is built on.

and obviously greta might not be the one to write it, as she doesn’t have the experience, but i guarantee there was some working on the movie that could have. it was just such a missed an opportunity.

that being said, it was still an incredible movie. it felt so satisfying to be seen as woman in media. to hear women in media actually TALK about the reality of being a woman. 10/10 would see again

i hope @chloegong is having a good day. she deserves it after writing some of the best books i have ever read in my entire 20 years of life (i’m an english major so this saying a lot)

sometimes i remember that in canon, miguel probably lost his daughter and everything he loved like a few MONTHS before the events of across the spiderverse. man is literally still going through the initial grief of that shit.

all this to say i would still do things to miguel that would probably get me publicly kicked out of most spaces 😮‍💨 maybe i can get some of that anger out in a more healthy and fun way!
