they installed "All Gender Bathrooms" when they redid my school's 8th floor which in theory should be good but now instead of having a disability stall in each bathroom and one separate one in it's own room and now we have ONE

and that stall has been broken for a good TWO MONTHS. Complaints to administration, security on floor, janitors, etc. ANYONE you can think of has done absolutely nothing.

The other stalls? Don't have hooks. Don't have a little bar or anything.

While I appreciate an All Gender Bathroom but it's very clear that this was not done to be "more progressive" by my college but instead to cut costs because screw 'em right?

I'm not disabled but I still care because holy shit this is vile. There is literally a professor who uses a cane on that floor and her complaints to admins has done nothing. Student complaints have done nothing either.

The water to wash hands is scalding hot, my hands literally turn red whenever I use it.

Also the bathroom stall (there are two, one normal and one for disabled) on my department doesn't have the little box to throw away period waste. Only the disabled one has it for some reason. It never has had it. Again, no one listens but that's a story for another day.

Also no bathrooms have a period product dispenser, even a paid one. :-(

Academia do better.

Bathroom accessibility is not limited to mobility aids.

Bathroom accessibility is also having hooks to hang medical equipment.

I went to Walmart today and none of the bathroom stalls had hooks for my feeding tube backpack. Not even the disabled stall. They were intentionally removed by the store.

These hooks are important because we shouldn’t have to put our equipment on the floor and risk god knows what by contaminating our backpacks in the public bathroom.

Bathroom accessibility is having a fully equipped disabled stall or single use bathroom, hooks for medical equipment/bags, infant/child AND adult changing tables, sharps containers, free pads/tampons, and having a free to access, fully functioning and clean bathroom at all times.

I had a uniform in Middle School and High School but not Elementary! It had our last names and school names on it

IDK if most Middle Schools have uniforms but we did because our outside track was also free to the public and they didn't want us getting kidnapped which is not funny but kinda funny to me.

Honestly in High School I would wear leggings and put the shorts over them because it was cold

question for my Americans... when you had gym class/P.E. did you just wear your normal clothes? or did you have a uniform? im confused on how that works there

unironically it is so fucked up that the pandemic just took away my freshman year of college. like it's college it's not a big deal but it's just... fucked up. I can't explain it. I'll never get it back and in any other situation I wouldn't want it back but it leaves me longing for something. I don't understand but it's fucked up. I don't want to postpone December, I want to postpone a year.

i vote we postpone December. just not ready for it. not spiritually not temporally. no room in my calendar or astral plane, hard pass
