Since I keep seeing posts criticising the ‘hallway’ sex scene, can I let some love for it into the universe? Because I love it with my whole heart and find it so beautiful.

First of all, I disagree with the whole ‘lack of communication’ agenda. Because sex is communication. It is sharing love and care. Wille couldn’t find the right words to comfort Simon for losing ease and joy in singing, Simon couldn’t heal Wille’s mom, but they knew how to make each other feel some joy and forget about sorrows for a while. Sex is an important means of communication for many people, and through sex Simon and Wille communicated perfectly concentrating on each other and understanding each other without words.

For me the sex scene in S3 was amazing: intimate and beautifully done. It wasn’t like any other scene of YR, because it had a different mood, meaning and purpose. It was not clueless experimenting like the first time one, it was not carefully romantic like the fish scene (they both knew they wanted the same and there was no Linda next door), it was not desperate 'I can lose you forever' like Holy one, it was finally making love as an established couple: passionate, carefree, confident and full of pleasure.

I loved how it was not linear, how the movements were attached to the music– slower when the music is quiet, faster and more rhythmic when the music pattern changes, singing the song with their bodies. 

I loved how there were no interruptions this time: no pausing for closing curtains or turning on additional sounds to hide their own (even closing of the door was not shown in the final cut), no one walking on them, calling them or filming them.

 I loved their connection, how they were ‘together’ in the process: not able to stay apart for a second, moving in unison, breathing each other’s air, connecting on all the levels; no one used or abused another for their own good…

I’m glad we saw their climax this time – smiling, giggling, rubbing noses and whispering I love yous after all – such a sweet delicate moment, so loving and so ‘them’.

If anything, this scene highlighted to me that internally they can be together, they can be happy and they are good for each other, it’s the outer world that makes it difficult for them.    

Simon was like ‘I lost my passion for the one thing I enjoyed doing the most and idk who I am anymore’ and Wille said ‘ok but what if we fuck it out would that help?’
