it does look like oversight on tasmuir part but it can be explained away by pulling "john didn't know shit about swords before doing omnicide and built his empire on pure vibes".
I'm pretty sure it has already been discussed, but the whole rapier thing in tlt that bothers me very much.
See, a rapier has an average weight of about 1kg (2.2 lb). I've had the occasion to play around with a VERY light one (about 700g I think) for about two hours last week and boy you do feel it after a while. The guy I was sparring with had a 1.5kg exemplary, which is not all that uncommon from what I've seen (it really depends on your size actually, you want your rapier to be proportional and I'm bite sized) (also it means that Gideon-sized rapier would be ridiculous in Harrow hands).
Anyway, a longsword has a weight ranging from 1 to 2kg, most exemplary being around 1.5kg. Now, there's a very important distinction between a rapier and a longsword : the longsword is used with both hands. I cannot understate what a difference it makes.
So it makes absolutely no sense to give a rapier to someone with 0 muscle, they will get less tired using a goddamn longsword.
(I think what happened is that Tamsyn Muir mixed rapier with foil (a very light sword for sport fencing weighing under 500g, 18oz, so basically a very long needle) and longsword with zweihander (the LONGEST sword, ranging from 2 to 4 kg, 4.4 to 8.8lb), but still, it's confusing)

I will openly admit that I did not give a lot of thought in this post mainly because when I think about this kind of scenarios I go for the easiest version for myself. also the entire concept of paul gives me headaches and i wanted pal to be in horrible pain from losing his half(ves) and maybe get some annoying habits camilla had and finally get some muscles so.
you do give good analysis of their choices and priorities. the sixth really go with the my way or the high way vibes. and it would be pretty in character for palamedes, king of sheer bloodymindedness and skill, to go to the mithraeum as a lowly necromancer and survive anyway. but i do think that grief would have broken him sooner rather than later. if we assume in this scenario that dulci is dead, cam is dead, he's alone, he's going to throw himself into work to help. i will not try to theorise on what direction it would take but he would burn himself out.
i thought about canaan house crowd ascending with cytherea as catalist and made myself sad.
need to establish my vocabulary first though:
to pull a cristabel ā kill yourself as a sacrifice with no apparent danger outside of your necro stagnating in her studies and aging.
to pull a gideon ā kill yourself because there's an immediate danger to life and your necro's survival is more important than yours.
so. judith does not ascend unless really backed into it. marta would 1) cave in and pull a gideon 2) prefer fighter's death. judith anyway bears guilt for millenias.
ianthe is ianthe. though corona would absolutely pull a cristabel and/or gideon if only she knew.
poor isaac is against this shit much like abigail but both jeannemary and magnus can (and in case of jm will) pull a gideon on them. grief.
with palamedes and cam i see many paths. 1) they make paul from the beginning even though they didn't have enough time to discuss and research. paul is wobbly and cyth is livid at them for doing something she couldn't so she decapitates them. 2) pal pulls a reverse gideon and explodes as per canon, then they make paul. 3) camilla pulls a gideon on pal. i am not interested in thinking about paul paths because anything i come up with pales in comparison with tamsyn's imagination. so in case of traditional lyctorhood pal is grieving and has cool knives. and maybe develops some muscle.
dulcie will pull a reverse gideon just so protesilaus doesn't do it on her. she's so sick of this shit already, she's not spending myriad like cyth. pro wouldn't pull a cristabel and would prefer a fighter's death to pulling a gideon anyway.
silas would like his nephew NOT TO DIE. colum would not pull a cristabel, he has seen enough of the river for a lifetime. colum could 1) choose to pull a gideon because as much as he doesn't want to die he absolutely should like a good cav, shouldn't he? 2) choose to not pull a gideon because silas is against it/stopped him midway screeching tome proverbs at him entire time.
gideon is gideon. harrow does lobotomy.

Does anyone know how long Andrew was with Aaron and Tilda before he killed her? Because I've read the series 3 times and I was convinced that it was never mentioned... until I was looking for something random in the first book and came across this:
So, here's a rough timeline of Andrew's life (mentions of SA, as per Andrew's backstory):
Born: put in the system
7 years old: His first time being SA. Steven (foster father) makes him say please
7 (or 8)-12 years old: SA at least 2 more times (Jesse and Samuel)
Overall 0-12 years old: moves around 12 different houses, none of them good
12 years old: Moves in with the Spears, start of Drake
12-13 years old: Andrew meets Higgins
13 years old: Higgins meets Aaron, Aaron contacts Andrew, Andrew gets himself thrown in juvie (in March)
(Side note in May of that year Tilda moves herself and Aaron to Columbia)
13-16 years old: Andrew is in juvie, starts playing Exy
15 years old: Aaron, Luther and Andrew meet for a half hour while Andrew is in juvie
16 years old: Andrew leaves juvie, moves in with Aaron and Tilda, Aaron and Andrew make their deal, 5mo later he kills Tilda, moves in with Nicky, gets Aaron clean, starts playing Exy in high school
17 years old: starts working at Eden's, meets Roland (who was 22-23), starts his thing with Roland, Andrew defends Nicky and get put on the drugs
17-18 years old (Sr year of hs): visited by Kevin and Riko
17-18 (most likely 18, 1 month after the Kev&Riko stuff): recruited to the Foxes by Wymack
18 years old: Andrew graduates, starts with the Foxes
18-19 years old: 1st year of college, Betsy tells Andrew the story of Robin Cross during one of their sessions
19 years old: meets Kevin and makes their deal
19 years old: The Foxhole court
19-20 years old: The Raven King, 2nd year of college
20 years old: The Kings Men
20-21 years old: 3rd year or college
21 years old: The Goxes go skiing
21-22 years old: 4th year of college
22 years old (February): Andrew tells Wymack to recruit Robin Cross
22 years old (July or August): (Robin joins the team in June) Andrew tells Robin to fight back, takes Robin to Eden's and they talk, Andrew allows Robin into the group and has her move in with them, starts sharing a bed with Neil
22-23 years old: 5th year of college, Andrew teaches Robin how to use Reneeās knives, Andrew (and the rest of the monsters that are left) help Robin get better at Exy
23 years old: Andrew graduates, he leaves Robin his knives (and Nicky leaves her a key to the Columbia house)
23 years old: Andrew joins his 1st pro team
24 years old: Neil graduates
24-25 years old: Andrew continues on the 1st pro team, Neil joins a different pro team, they make an effort to see each other
25 years old: Andrew joins a pro team with a former Raven as the coach, Andrew and Neil make an effort to see each other a lot
26 years old: Neil joins Andrew's team,
26+ years old: Neil and Andrew move in together and get cats, the rest of his life
(24+ years old (as in at some point during his professional Exy career but idk when): he qualifies for Court, they win gold at the Olympics)
That took quite a bit of research, but it was fun to make! Everything is confirmed through the books and the Extra Content. If there wasn't an exact year I put a range. Should I do a timeline for anyone else?
I didnāt go into details with the stuff in the books but I totally could. I already have a timeline of specific events with exact dates in the books if anyone is interested. Let me know and I'll post it!
