I love how the three of them look together in this piece and I think it fits perfectly for today’s prompt for Nesta Week! I will always adore their found family story and how they are each other’s chosen sisters🥺

Chapter 23 of 41, I apologize if you find any translation errors. THE PRINCE OF DEMONS AND HIS PROTÉGÉ

TWENTY-THREE

When she woke up Sesshomaru's soft tail wrapped around her body still resting on his, she opened her eyes and saw the person she loved most sleeping blissfully next to her, she smiled seeing him so serene and quiet - which is very rare for Sesshomaru - he almost didn't look like himself, so serene and his long silver hair scattered on the pillow seemed to play with the little light that entered that room.

The small wrinkle that almost always formed between his eyebrows was smoothed out, Rin remained still holding slightly more tightly to him without waking him up though she didn't want him to interrupt her sleep, it was unlikely that she would be the first to wake up.

The sun had just risen and outside the orange color was already disappearing.

It was so beautiful, only in her fantasies she had dared to imagine something like that and yet it was certainly not comparable to what she was experiencing at that moment.

A hurricane of emotions was unleashed in her, joy, love, happiness but also a little bit of sadness.

She was so engrossed in the beating of her heart that she didn't realize that the great demon had finally woken up and just like her, was watching her wondering how she was doing.

When Rin raised her face she met Sesshomaru's golden eyes and smiled at him.

"Good morning" she said and then kissed him on the lips.

"Good morning to you" he replied and then immediately kissed him back.

Rin lowered her gaze ashamed of her intimacy, her right hand was on Sesshomaru's mighty chest and her left hand was stroking his soft tail.

"Are you okay?"

"Hmm? Oh yeah, don't worry."

The demon pulled himself up to his seat and smiled at her as he watched her lie on his bed.

"We need to get out of here in a bit."

"Stay still, it's early."

"Did you forget that Kagome and Inuyasha are coming to visit today?"

"Of course not but it's a little past dawn," Rin replied as she sat down next to him.

Sesshomaru looked at her face, her eyes were as bright and cheerful as ever, her complexion was still rosy and her body looked good.

He sighed in relief.

"Now we can't go back Rin."

"I don't want to go back, I made my choice a long time ago Sesshomaru."

"You know I love you and I always will but if you wish to return to Musashi-"

"My place is next to you come what may, Musashi will always be important to me, I will always care about the people I care about but that won't stop me from living by your side."

His body was getting cold so he wrapped his tail around her.

"Marry me."

"W-what?" she asked in amazement.

"Marry me," he said again smiling at her.

"Did you really ask me that Sesshomaru? I'm not dreaming am I?" she replied still confused.

"You're awake Rin. If you agree to marry me I swear I'll stay by your side forever, I'll do everything I can to protect you but if on the contrary you want to go back to live with old Kaede I won't oppose, I'll take with me the memory of this night and the moments we spent together."

"How could I not agree to that? Yes!" she replied bursting into tears and throwing her arms around her demon's neck, her body collided with his again but now being seen like this didn't matter to her anymore, she loved Sesshomaru and had loved feeling him inside her, how could she give him up again?

"Rin" the demon whispered holding her tighter and resting his head in the crook of her neck, then he took her in his arms and for one last time before leaving her he joined her again.

Before leaving he looked at her one last time, she was sleeping peacefully in the bed that had been the guardian of their love that night.

He heard her murmuring something but even his ears couldn't understand it well, then he turned to the other side without stopping sleeping and only at that moment Sesshomaru left that room and Rin.

"Haru."

"Yes my lord?"

"Prepare some food for Rin, bring it to her when she wakes up."

"Sure."

"I'm going to get some training in before Inuyasha and his family arrive."

Haru obeyed his lord's order, he would have done anything to see him like that all the time, he was no longer disgruntled or angry but happy as a demon like him would never, ever admit it.

A new light and awareness had taken hold of him and the credit was once again due to Rin.

The day he had met her he had growled at her but the little human hadn't run away screaming, on the contrary he had thrown the water he had in his little wooden canteen at her.

She smiled at that memory.

Haru waited patiently for her new lady to wake up, it was strange for her that a human was in charge from now on but after all that human wasn't that bad.

Rin stretched out her hand on the bed to look for Sesshomaru but he wasn't there, the bed was unmade and the covers were almost all over her, without his tail on her body she felt strange, even more naked.

"You woke up."

"Yes," she replied still thinking about the past night.

Then she pulled herself up sharply, had Sesshomaru really asked her to marry him?

"Haru!"

"What's going on?" asked the worried servant girl.

"Give me a pinch."

"What?"

"Pinch me," repeated Rin.

Haru obediently approached Rin, it wasn't hard to pinch her since she was almost completely naked but the girl at that moment was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't even notice.

"Ouch!"

"Please don't tell the master or he will punish me" Haru begged her.

"It's all true" she said to herself, she wasn't dreaming and it wasn't a vision "don't worry it will stay between us. Oh!" she screamed and then immediately pulled up the covers.

Haru had seen her body before when he had had to heal her but now... it was different.

How could she choose a human? - he wondered but after all it was the question that all the servants inside that palace were asking themselves.

"Haru can you pass me the kimono?"

In a short time Rin was ready and after eating she ran out like a lightning bolt since soon Kagome and Inuyasha would arrive along with little Kikyo and it had been so long since she had seen them!

"Rin! Be quiet!"

"Jaken forgive me I didn't see you!"

"I noticed" grumbled the kappa but he was happy to see her full of energy and smiling again, that little girl had won his heart after all.

"Are you coming with me Jaken?"

"Where are you going?"

"To greet Kagome and Inuyasha, I bet Sesshomaru is already there."

"Surely the master is already there. I'll accompany you," the kappa replied seeing the little girl a little worried.

"What's going on Rin? Until just now you were running and jumping."

"I don't like going outside."

"But if you love being outdoors!"

"Yes but not here, here..."

Tengu - suddenly remembered the little demon.

"Master Sesshomaru has punished them properly, they will never dare to hurt you again believe me."

"Now they will hate me even more."

"What nonsense are you babbling about? Don't tell me you're defending them! Rin!" Jaken blurted out.

"They were doing their duty Jaken, they couldn't have known I really knew Sesshomaru."

"Ah those knuckleheads! They should have asked before they attacked, you know how much I care about you right? Just think if it had been the little girl instead of you."

Kikyo - that thought froze the blood in her veins.

"Rin if you want to live in Sesshomaru's world then you have to understand that in that world there is no room for pity, it's not part of him."

"You're wrong Jaken, if Sesshomaru didn't feel pity he wouldn't have saved me or helped Kohaku. Let's go now I don't want to be late."

Without saying anything more but always accompanied by the little kappa she found the courage to go out in that garden that weeks before had welcomed her together with Kirara and a violent rain.

She had not been mistaken, Inuyasha and Kagome had arrived and Kikyo was already happily in her uncle's arms, attached to his tail.

"Rin!" Kagome called to her, smiling, and in that moment all of Jaken's bad thoughts and words disappeared.

She ran to them, they had finally arrived and would be spending a few days together, this would do her just as much good as having the person she loved most by her side, the one who was less enthusiastic seemed to be Inuyasha but in the end to Kagome's happiness he had given in and come.

After hugging Kagome and Inuyasha, he reached Sesshomaru and picked up Kikyo who was now for all intents and purposes his granddaughter.

"Kikyo! You've grown so much in such a short time" he said giving her a kiss, Sesshomaru looked at that scene and felt himself pervaded by that ever-deepening desire, that desire that he had chased away in the depths of his soul but that sometimes resurfaced just like now.

There's still time - he said to himself as he watched Rin and his niece playing with her raven hair.

"Let's go inside, you must be tired after your journey."

"Thank you Sesshomaru" Kagome replied, then Rin gave her Kikyo and all together they entered the big palace.

TWENTY TWO.

After a couple of days Rin was well and strong again, her face that had been pale for weeks was finally pink again and her lips had become redder.

Sesshomaru smiled inwardly at seeing her finally healthy, after all, it was what he wanted most.

That puny little human who had followed him around since she was little more than a child had become everything to him from the moment he brought her back to life using the Tenseiga.

"Are you feeling better Rin?" he asked even though he already knew the answer.

Her leg didn't seem to hurt anymore and she was even walking faster.

From the man cub she used to be in the past she had transformed into a beautiful young woman with long shiny hair that swayed on her back with every little movement, her body had become more shapely and perfect.

"I'm much better thanks to you."

"Thanks to Haru, she's the one who snatched you away from death this time."

"And you? How are you?" she asked and the question left him stunned for a few moments and reminded him of when Rin had awakened thanks to her mother.

"Hi Sesshomaru, how are you?" he had asked her then.

"You know you don't have to worry about me Rin. Tomorrow Kagome and Inuyasha are visiting together with Kikyo but today I would like to take you somewhere."

"Where?" she asked and her eyes lit up like shining stars.

"Anywhere you want" he replied caressing her face.

Rin remained thoughtful for a while, but really there was a place she wanted to see again.

"Sesshomaru..."

"You chose then?"

"Yes but I don't know if you'll want to take me there."

"Tell me the place and we'll go, I promise."

"I would like to go back to my village, the one I had when I was a child."

"Why do you want to go back to that place? The people in that village were not good to you," the demon reminded her.

"I know this well but in that village there are still my parents and my little brothers, I would like to go and greet them."

How could she deny him? After all she hadn't been back there in years, after Naraku's defeat he had left her at Kaede's village and since then she had never left except to look for him.

"If that is where you wish to go then I will take you there" he replied.

Rin held him even tighter and then kissed him.

It wasn't the first time they had kissed, it had happened before but each time was like the first and he always felt vulnerable when it happened, he had seen her naked body the day Tengu had hurt her and he had wanted with all his heart to join her but the fear he felt prevented him from doing so.

"Let's go then."

They walked outside the palace, the sun was high in the sky and bright, Rin's hair shining under its rays that seemed to play with those raven strands.

"Step back for a moment Rin," said the demon, then in a short time he assumed his true form, from "man" he became a very large dog.

"Sesshomaru!"

He walked up to her with his head signaling her to come up, he wanted to show her what he was all the way and what better way to do that?

"I can't-"

Gently with his paw he pushed her towards his back and shortly after a hesitant human girl was riding a mighty and fierce demon without feeling any fear for him but only an immense love.

Riding on Sesshomaru's back they soon arrived at his old village, the dog demon let her down in the clearing where they had met and immediately resumed his usual appearance.

The flight over him had been exciting, it was so much better than the flights she had done with Kirara and Ah-Un, she felt safer and more protected than ever as she clung tightly to his fur.

"This place..."

"Yes this is where we met so many years ago" he replied encircling her in a hug.

"You were hurt," she recalled.

"Even that time I had a hard time but Tenseiga protected me no matter how much I despised that sword at the time."

"You never wanted to eat what I brought you."

He smiled, stroking her hair.

"I never cared for anyone before but then I met you, you were just a little girl who never spoke, at least at first."

"And then I became very loud and chatty," she smiled back at the demon she loved more than herself.

"Yes and I couldn't be happier about it, meeting you was the most important thing that could have happened to me."

Without saying anything else she took him by the hand and led him out of the clearing to the village.

The houses, the river, the children playing, the nets for catching fish... everything was then, everything but her.

"It all looks the same as it did years ago and yet...it's not my village anymore, Koga destroyed it."

He felt Sesshomaru's hand stiffen, mentioning Koga had not been very wise but he had done it without thinking.

"Let's go, they're nearby" said her human and so following her as all the villagers' gazes followed them and the children stopped playing to observe them, they reached the graves of Rin's family members.

Rin let go of Sesshomaru's hand, knelt down in front of three tombstones next to each other and watched them in silence.

"Hello mother, hello father" she said then, her small fingers went over the faded outlines of their names and then she held out her hand for Sesshomaru to kneel down next to her.

"I know you miss them, if I could give them back to you I would but even though I have Tenseiga it's been too long now."

"I know" she reassured him "I just wanted them to be able to meet you, that's why I asked you to accompany me here."

A tear fell from her face and mingled with the grass, it almost looked like dew laid on a small leaf, Sesshomaru hated seeing her cry and not being able to do anything.

"You have a daughter who is strong and brave, determined and good," he said addressing the gravestones of Rin's parents, "I know you would be proud."

Rin's rosy, ever-cheerful face was slightly overshadowed but she knew well that it wouldn't last long.

"You know I barely remember them, I was very small when they died and the villagers decided to keep me with them."

"Those cowards..."

"They still helped me."

"And mistreated. If the wolves of Koga hadn't taken care of it I would have."

"Oh I don't doubt that but I don't want you to do anything like that, it wouldn't be that different from what Koga did don't you think? If I forgot what they look like maybe..."

"Maybe?" asked Sesshomaru laying a hand on her shoulder.

"Maybe one day you'll forget me too" she replied worriedly.

In those moments Rin was still the scared little girl she had saved.

"Never. I could never forget you Rin."

She didn't answer, only let herself go against his shoulder, rested her head on his soft fur and they stayed that way until sunset.

For days they were always together, rarely did Sesshomaru leave the palace knowing she was there and even at night he always stayed with her until the new day dawned.

But every night they spent together the space between them grew shorter, there was more intimacy, more kissing, more vulnerability and also more fear.

That night Rin took courage and decided she didn't want to stop with the usual kisses, she wanted more and now she was strong enough to have it.

The demon prince stopped her hand as she tried to remove his robe.

"No."

"Why?"

"Rin..."

"I thought you wanted it too."

"I do," he replied resting his hand.

"Then..."

"I don't want to hurt you."

He smiled and that smile warmed her soul and his eyes grew warmer, a hand gently stroked her hair.

"You won't hurt me, I know it."

"I might lose control and if that happens-"

He couldn't finish his sentence Rin was already on top of him, her hands tried once again to remove his robe and eventually Sesshomaru gave in, before long their robes ended up on the cold floor.

"Are you really sure you want this?" he asked fearfully.

For the first time he was really afraid, afraid of hurting her, afraid of transforming and losing control altogether.

"I am," she replied, then leaned over him and kissed him, their bodies making full contact, flesh against flesh.

He felt Rin's pulse increase, his breath warm on her neck, then he turned making her get down under him, he kissed her intensely with all the passion he felt inside, his hand touched her delicate round breasts and then went down lower and lower, he touched her smooth soft thighs and went up until his hand was inside her.

A moan escaped from her lips as they were pressed against Sesshomaru's face, while one hand held onto him the other caressed his chest, his silver hair and his body vibrated with pleasure.

Of desire.

The passion blossomed more and more, making them more and more united and complicit, happy and complete as they finally became one in all respects.
