You know I used to get sad thinking about whenever one of my hyper fixations will slowly fade away but now I’m realizing they never really go away. They’re just dormant and can be reactivated :’) and that’s a comforting thought.

SO FUNNY STORY

i ended up saving 230 pulls (guaranteed 2 at least if i HAD to hit hard pity) — and it turns out i needed 240 pulls to get all of them

Marius: LIKE ALWAYS WAITED UNTIL HARD PITY

Artem: took 40 pulls, WHICH THANK GOD USUALLY HES EITHER 70 PULLS OR 30 AND HE DECIDED TO BE NICE THIS TIME

Luke: took 60 pulls — this is the first time he’s taken this much to come home and it was like a stab in the heart

Vyn: took 40 pulls as well, WHICH IS NOT BAD but usually he comes in 20 so it was a bit painful

i did spend a bit of money tho because im not F2P whatsoever LMAO I SAVED UP MONEY JUST FOR THE ANNIVERSARY cause I knew I would want all of them and i was willing to do whatever it took to reach that goal

ohhh, i havent actually!! and thank u so much for this ask cuz YESS, I DO HAVE A RANKING FOR THISSSS :DDD so let's get down to business

my personal top 5 favorite luke cards (with rambling rationale ofc, by this point it's a standard in my posts kjbfajsfkf)

before i start, i'd like to note that this list is only taking into consideration cards that are available on the global server as of april 28, 2022 buuuuut already including Secrets of the Tomb event that only releases tomorrow cuz kjbkHBH IVE ALREADY SEEN LUKE’S CARD STORY THERE AND IT’S GOT A PLACE ON THIS LIST CUZ I RLLY LOVE IT!! this list also only ranks cards with stories because thats what im basing my rank on, so that disqualifies all the SR cards that are only audio messages and the MR card as well

with that outta the way, let's go from 5th most fave one by one to my most favorite of all cards thus far!!

5th place: SSR Alluring Gaze

this was among the first luke cards i ever watched and i was reeling from the sheer angst in luke's personal story 1 and 2. please, i said to this card. please be a lighthearted yet entertaining chaser for my angst drowned heart.

"you are safe now, my child," said SSR Alluring Gaze.

"thank you for my life," i replied

cuz this card is one of the VERY FEW LUKE STORY CARDS that does not have an HINT of sadness or angst. NOT A DROP!!! no sudden pain episode, no vague reference to "im dying soon and i hate myself for that", NADA!! im not saying that i dont like angst (if that was true, i'd have made a terrible choice having luke as my fave JHVSDFHKV) or that angst makes for a bad story. i Love Angst and it deffo can used for great storytelling.

but this card manages without it in a really fun and charming and eeEEeEEeee-butterflies-in-my-heart kind of way.

later on, i'd come to realize that my biggest criticism for some luke cards is that theres a tendency for the story to rely solely on the gut punch angst or to be oversaturated in it to the point it's hard to really enjoy what's actually going on. while the emotional ouchies are inevitable and also key to many of luke's stories, it's a disservice to him as a character to only ever be pursuing his narrative through the lens of pain. he is more than that and his stories can benefit from little less leaning on angst for emotional impact.

this card is 5th place because i think it's proof that his stories can shine real great even without any angst at all

4th place: SSR Shape Of You

if the last card made it onto this list because it was a lighthearted delight, this card is on the list because it was the first luke card to make me CRY REAL TEARS. FUCK THIS GAME. FUCK THIS CARD. FUCK MY LIIIIIFFEEEE----//sounds of my voice getting softer and softer until i calm down

anyway, this card hurt me personally. but it wasnt oversaturated in angst; it's a very lovely balance of shenanigans, mounting tension, and heartfelt emotion. overall, it's a hopeful card actually. but it hurt me because it was among my first (and most long lasting) peek into the core of who i see luke to be. particularly, one of his key desires and the flaw that comes with it:

hes someone so devoted to doing good for his loved ones and simultaneously so scared of hurting them that he places himself at a lower value because thats how he thinks he can be a benefit to their lives

like, ok, i amend my first sentence in this card. it's not on this list cuz it made me cry. it's on this list cuz that crying was due to me getting a deeper understanding of how luke thinks, feels, and acts.

if i had to recommend one card to somebody who knows nothing about tot or luke pearce, itd be this one. its story is a blend of the good in him and the not-so-good in him and paints a really clear picture of who luke is.

3rd place: SSR Overflowing Thoughts

hey, SSR Overflowing Thoughts, see how im hyping you up the night before u actually r gonna be available? do u see how much i love you? ur gonna repay me by coming home without causing me much pain, right? RIGHT???? //brbs to calm self once more

ANYHOO, this card. is Good. it's really frigging good. i will be scant with the plot details so people dont get spoiled, but i will tell you that this card's story is an AU completely different from the actual stories of both luke and mc.

and when i say different, i REALLY MEAN IT. luke and mc's dynamics in this card are frigging lightyears away from what we're used to and this is not to the story's detriment, it's to the story's extreme absolute strength.

basically, this story does what a great AU is best at: showing us how different circumstances, lives, and choices can magnify and emphasize the core traits of the characters that will stay present in who they are no matter what universe they're in.

luke's core is devotion. mc's core is hope. this card does a fantastic job at hammering those things home effectively in a really frigging great story.

pls come home, SSR Overflowing Thoughts. PLEASE.....

2nd place: SR Star in the Palm

let's give it up for the only SR card on this list, Star in the Palm!!! //CROWD CHEERS (i am the crowd)

THIS WAS AN UNEXPECTED FAVE. i got the card in december thru the xmas partyland boardgame like everyone else but then my brain went offline for a while and i only watched it in like, january i think. why did i wait. it's so good. IT'S MY 2ND MOST FAVE CARD STORY!!!

and it's my 2nd fave because the story is a wonderful blend of funtimes and feels, both those things working together to, again, paint a really lovely picture of who luke is.

this card in particular touches upon his fear of returning to mc's life. when i say this next bit, i say it with love: luke was a goddamn coward for a bit. he was in stellis way before he had first told mc he was, he had stalled on reuniting with her, he ran away from her. and he was scared of her knowing that, so he deflects and changes the subject and then

heres why this is 2nd place: mc is Not Fucking Having It. mc shoves chocolate into his lying liar mouth to get him to shut up. this card shows how luke is scared, yes, but it also shows how mc puts her foot down lovingly and makes it known that she'd like clearer answers. she wont force him, but thats what she wants.

and luke gives. both the answers and himself as a more honest person making more honest promises about how he'll act in the future.

it's the card that makes me rediscover (as if i ever forget, kJBSKJBDKF) why i love luke/mc so much: their relationship is ultimately about accepting fears and flaws and then---however imperfect the attempts may be---trying to be better moving forward

//announcer voice: the card that did not come home after 74 fucking rolls and by then i had used up all my s-chips so i gave up and just forced my friends to watch this card with me via discord grp call

1st place: SSR Peaceful Place

why didnt you come home. WHY. WHY MUST U FORSAKE ME, LUKE PEARCE??????

this card is my top 1 fave for almost all the reasons ive mentioned before:

we've got well balanced story. like bruh, we get the cuteness of luke and mc ADOPTING A KID (that just so happens to be an elephant). we get 2 npc side characters, the Paige twins, who know luke from the NSB days and theyre the funniest faceless npcs ive ever seen in a card ever. we get the trope of oH NO, THERE WAS ONLY ONE BED! and then luke subsequently fuckin nerfs himself and doesnt take the oppurtunity (valid, respect women, but PLEASE DUDE, COME ON!!). we get the most heartwrenching scene on the planet when luke and mc have to say goodbye to their ELEPHANT SON. and then we fuckin get an action movie shoot out??? complete with the angst consequences?? WE GET MC KABEDON-ING LUKE!!!!!!

//wheezing. everything in this fucking card is my favorite part of this fucking card. theres fluff, theres comedy, theres excitement, theres sadness, theres a happy ending.

this card also is a great card that shows off a lovely picture of character, but here, it's not luke. like dont get me wrong, hes fantastic in this card. but everything we learn about luke here is stuff we know already. this card is good at showing off mc.

and it does this really well. it highlights what shes scared of, what she wants, and what she holds dear to her heart.

like, idk, now im going more on vibes here than anything that can be surmised from the story directly, but this card rlly feels...holistic. heres a full story jam packed with everything i love, filled to the brim with genuine character moments for luke and mc, and just such a lovely picture of their relationship:

filled with idyllic moments and dark uncertainties but at the end of the day, theyre both making their best effort to ensure each other's happiness, as their own happiness is entwined with the joy of the other.

My Ramblings on Artem and Rosa’s Dynamic Because Holy Shit I’m Losing It (Part 2 of ?)

okay it took me a bit to come back to this because ive been hella busy BUT LETS GET INTO IT

here is part 1 of this rambling if you have not seen it, i recommend reading that one first then coming back to this one

here’s my obligatory spoiler warning for Artem’s bday card (Two Hearts as One)!

SO TRUE!!!! but also it’s sort of inevitable (the foreshadowing)

listen i Wish i could sit here and say with total confidence that misunderstandings will never happen

but

i would be a liar LMAOO

misunderstandings happen, things happen and sometimes it gets away from you which can lead to a path of misunderstandings

and you gotta figure out the best thing for you and the best way to deal with these misunderstandings

which is why i again love this card so much

because again the foreshadowing — but it’s how Artem and Rosa deal with it later on that makes it really hit home, it’s also part of the reason why so many people like this card as much as they do

GODDAMN

OKAY I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT THIS SPECIFICALLY

1. the LOOK IN ARTEM’S EYES??? NO SPARKLE OR ANYTHING THOSE EYES ARE DARK AS HELL (a brewing storm one might say)

2. it’s so funny how much Baldr wants this case to the point they’re trying to get Themis’ best lawyer AND SENIOR PARTNER TO DROP OUT TO COME TO BALDR AND BRING THE CASE WITH HIM LIKE???

3. THE FACT ARTEM IS GIVING ROSA THE RECOGNITION SHE DESERVES!!! imagine trying to undermine someone because of their age and ranking when they rightfully destroyed your ass

for those who needs a reminder : Howard Syter is one of the founders of Baldr and is quite well known in the legal community of Stellis

but it’s also heavily implied that his Senior Attorney Badge is counterfeit

“What do you mean? I spent a lot of money… I mean… a lot of time… on the exam to get it!”

yeah okay dude

also William Lewis is the other founder of Baldr — just had to add that real quick

this scene is super important in this card because of the fact that she’s part of the reason why the misunderstandings occur — since Baldr is hella questionable — i would look back at the Main Story part 5 specifically for a refresher — and it gives us more of an insight towards Baldr as well

IM GETTING TOO CAUGHT UP IN THE ROLE???? LOOK ME IN THE EYES AND TRY TELLING ME THAT THIS IS YOU GUYS PLAYING A ROLE

Rosa you CANNOT tell me that it’s just a role when he looks at you with that gentle look on his face do not ever lie to me like that again

i know a lot of people who do theater where they act, and majority of the time they tell me how they get into character is finding ways to relate to said characters

getting the feelings down by finding situations where you felt like that and pulling them out, reminding yourself of certain memories to get yourself into the role, becoming the person you used to be in order to get into character, etc etc. my friends have told me so many ways that helps them

it also helps that the people they’re working with they’re either friends with or they become friends while they’re rehearsing which makes it easier to play scenes with one another

due to the relationship Rosa and Artem already had, it makes it easier for them to get into said roles, to be able to look at each other in the eyes and say their lines with such conviction that it feels real

because in a way, it is real

i think that’s part of the reason why i love this card so much?? as someone who has done some roles myself there is a certain reality that peaks through

a certain reality that you can’t contain and really you don’t want to fully contain that since it can give life to a role and to your character

so seeing Artem and Rosa play a role and seeing how their own personalities and feelings peek through is downright amazing

because to everyone else they may be just acting

but to them it’s real

as i was saying

AS I WAS SAYING

and this is why i LOVE writing so much and why i tend to mix fantasy with non fiction and why i absolutely love it when fanfic writers actually do the work to give accurate information during their stories like THAT IS MY SHIT

there’s also something so great about reading something and not being able to truly understand it or relate to it then when you go back on it and read it then it suddenly just clicks

and it’s a moment of

“Oh.”

then it all makes sense

I LOVE A REALIZATION MOMENT

But seriously, i understand Artem’s thoughts on this heavily — i was one of the people who didn’t get the whole butterflies in the stomach or being able to look at someone and envision a future with them

i didn’t understand seeing or feeling fireworks, didn’t understand how you could look at someone and just know — or how you look at someone and feel at peace with them, feeling that “yeah, this is it” and so much more

until finally

i did get it

which is why I absolutely love the fact that Artem got that experience, that he had that “oh shit” moment, that he finally had that realization and that understanding

that understanding can change so much — Artem and Rosa in this card is literally so fucking amazing that i Don’t even know how to describe it

seriously gotta be one of my favorite cards now

My Ramblings on Artem and Rosa’s Dynamic Because Holy Shit I’m Losing It (Part 1 of ?)

okay im running on zero (0) hours of sleep so now im going to ramble about Artem’s birthday card (the 1st one not the 2nd one) because it’s just so fucking good??? I’ll also explain more of the story itself since you need context from his Thin Veil card

which is yknow

hidden by a paywall

but i just NEED to ramble my thoughts out about their dynamic so much

anyhow spoilers for Artem’s 1st birthday card below!!

First context from Thin Veil with quick (very quick) notes

okay

1 ) we find out that Artem is actually a movie critic known as Mockingbird — so if you’ve been confused so far with the current birthday event it’s heavily referencing Thin Veil

2 ) this card introduces the fact that Artem loves movies and heavily enjoys the arts and Rosa goes through the museum of movies with him essentially

3 ) due to his love of movies this is what makes Rosa decide to make a scene of his favorite movie for his birthday

okay now onto the birthday card and ill explain more as we go

first off this is absolutely adorable

it’s just??? so funny how Rosa was like: this was my favorite seat because it’s the perfect length from the board so i can see everything and in case i come in late i can sneak in!

and Artem goes: me too <3 — except for the coming in late part — more like he had to leave early because he had to meet with clients after classes like a NERD (affectionate)

next i love the relationship between Rosa and Artem during this card so much

okay so we all know by now that Rosa and Artem had a slight rough(?) start due to the fact that Artem was her boss so it makes sense why it was slightly awkward in the beginning

like why is my boss trying so hard to get to know me

but it’s also the fact that he’s Artem Wing

easily one of the most well known men and is highly intelligent — capable — can easily destroy your reasonings — with a 99% win rate — any person would be intimidated by this tbh because of the fact he seems untouchable

but he’s not

he’s legit a dork and it’s so funny to me

im going to share some notes i took on Artem months back — and i mean months back — prepare yourself it’s a lot of words

i won’t lie i don’t remember fully writing this i must’ve hit a stroke of genius at 2 am and thought: i need to analyze the FUCK out of Artem Wing Right Now otherwise I’ll lose my mind

reminder: this was months ago and i had a vague idea of where they were going to take Artem’s character — part of it i got from the Lost Gold Event (which was the first event if i remember correctly) and some leaks i managed to see about the future cards

i also got Thin Veil early on as i am Not F2P — but i would say a good chunk of it still holds true

to a certain extent that is

Artem over time has grown to understand himself more and to become more assured with his relationship with Rosa and it helps that she’s actually starting to take in the role of being his partner — im saying this in a platonic sense due to the fact i find it fascinating

she’s seen more and more sides of Artem that no one usually sees — because of this Rosa changes how she acts with him

and the change is pretty big

Rosa before the most recent cards (birthday, electrifying night, the por una cabeza card — you get the gist) wouldn’t have even thought about comforting Artem like this

during the beginning of their partnership you see Rosa struggle with trying to comfort Artem without being Personal

if i had the brain power i would search through when exactly this happens but from my current memory it happens on multiple occasions where Rosa is speechless or gets cut off from comforting

but Rosa has changed immensely since the start

before she seemed pretty unsure of herself — doubting and second guessing her choices and decisions which led to quite a number of moments where she didn’t know what to really do

which makes the change even fucking better

with the recent card stories + chapters of the Main Story we got to watch her become more bold, more comfortable with her ideas and thoughts, less second guessing and more Doing

her growth as a character made me super happy — im like a proud parent watching their child become self assured and independent and going out into the world thriving

due to this change her relationships with The Boys have also changed

the whole teams dynamic is amazing to me and i like to put them under my little spotlight and analyze them or think about them — silly all of em

BUT MOVING ON BEFORE I GO ON A TANGENT ABOUT THE WHOLE TEAMS DYNAMIC WITH EACH OTHER

the point is they’re less awkward and more of: “we’re partners” as they look at each other with gentle smiles and tender eyes and feeling secure with one another and with their own individual feelings

if that makes sense god i hope my rambling is making sense

God he loves her so much it hurts me

like yeah obviously in a romantic way but also in that caring way you look at someone and go: i would do anything for you and I’ll stick by your side through thick and thin

this change in their dynamic was exactly what i was waiting for — because in a way this is Artem figuring out his own emotions yknow

because like i said at the start he relied heavily on the Psychology to Love Book that Celestine gave to him

but now he’s pushing more away from that and it’s becoming just natural to him to act and react this way

to say all of these things without embarrassment and being wholeheartedly into it

and honestly i think that’s fucking beautiful

now here’s the fun part

Okay but,

Mammon & MC being partners - the implication that they've been together longer than they've been with the crew and then the rest of the event actually showing that they are partners;

Mammon finds a second map and shares it only with MC/is willing to share the second treasure only with MC

They're both willing to go behind the others' backs and work together

How easily MC tosses him a sword and moves to protect him. How easily he accepts it and cheers them on but also says that being protected would cramp his style and that they need to let him get the next one. Do they have a count? Do they keep track of who protects who or how many enemies they take down? That last line strongly implies they have a tally

How he questions Solomon's orders but instantly follows MC's orders despite not knowing what's wrong

They washed up together so they probably tried to stay together when the ship went down

Him being absolutely worried about MC and MC pretending to be injured just to worry him. The way he falls for it but almost instantly realises they're just being a dick
