a/n: tysm anon for requesting!! i love lottie and i hope this is okay :3

summary: you weren't about to let shauna hurt lottie right in front of your eyes while you sat and did nothing about it. so you did what you do best, you protected her.

warning: brief fighting, blood

awakening to the sound of a loud commotion in the middle of the night was definitely not something you imagined happening, but you stood up, slipped on a pair of socks and made your way downstairs anyway; happy to have warmth from being in the attic for such a long time.

with you being half asleep and exhausted you could barely make out what was going on downstairs, but you saw shauna punch misty in the mouth and all hell broke loose from there.

your jaw dropped slightly, and it's safe to say that you were now fully awake. as you moved closer to look at shauna, you could see that she's angry and has bloody knuckles from punching misty in the nose. wincing, you turn your head to lottie who's.... stepping in front of misty? your heart drops, and you move over to her, hoping she's not about to do something stupid. panicked, you step in front of her and look into her eyes, staring her down.

"lottie, what the hell are you doing?" she keeps a straight face.

"helping shauna. please, move." you shake your head and move forward to grab lottie's hands.

"like hell i will! i'm not about to let you get beaten to a pulp!" you try to make your eyes look as pleading as possible, but lottie just shakes her head no with the saddest look you've ever seen and yanks her hands from your grasp and pushes you away, and you try to bite back a sob.

lottie is standing in front of you with her hands behind her back now, and all you hear her say is "it's okay, y/n." . shauna lunges for lottie, and something snaps inside of you because all you see is red. you run in front of lottie and punch shauna square in the face, watching her fall to the ground.

your fist and knuckles hurt, but you don't care. you're just glad lottie didn't get harmed. shaking your fingers and flexing them to make sure they aren't broken, you move to stand over shauna's body, balling up your fists again.

"if you try to hurt lottie ever again, i'll kill you shipman." moving away from shauna without sparing her a second glance, you go over to lottie who's staring at you with wide eyes, right along with all of the other yellowjackets members, but you drown them all out and keep your focus on lottie.

you play with your hands, suddenly very shy, but you come up with the courage to speak.

"i wasn't about to let her hurt you, lottie. you don't deserve it." The team members are openly staring at both of you now, clearly trying to listen to your conversation.

irritated, you grab lottie's hand softly, giving her a small smile.

lottie still has that sad look on her face, but she glances over to shauna who's now letting taissa and van tend to her face, but she looks quickly back to you afterwards.

"can we... talk up in the attic? i can barely breathe down here." you nod your head and squeeze lottie's hand slightly, leading her up to the attic, ignoring the lingering stairs of your teammates.

the attic looked the same as you left it, a moth eaten blanket and a dingy rough pillow is where you slept, so you bring lottie over and sit down, still holding her hand.

lottie sits down close to you, both of your legs touching. you feel your hands start to sweat slightly from the close contact, but lottie just smiles at you and grabs your hand.

"thanks for that back there. it was reckless, but I'm glad you protected me." you looked at you and lottie's intertwined hands and leaned in to give her a big hug.

"it was nothing, lot. i'm tired of them acting like you're the next messiah. i get the wilderness speaks to you, but you're human too. we all are." you mumble this into lottie's shoulder softly, feeling wetness on your shoulder. lottie's crying.

"lottie?" you pull away from her and wipe away her tears with your thumb, moving closer to place a kiss on her cheek. she's sniffling, and trying to wipe away her tears that just keep pouring.

"i... thank you y/n. that means a lot to me. you mean a lot to me." your eyes widen at this, and you give lottie the biggest smile you can muster, a small laugh coming from your lips.

"you mean a lot to me too lottie. i love you, you know that?" grabbing lottie's hand and bringing it to your lips, you kiss her knuckles softly. lottie turns her head away and blushes, trying to hide her smile.

"i love you too. are you alright, by the way? you hit shauna pretty hard." lottie lookd down at your hand and you shook your fingers, showing her that you're good.

"yeah, i'm good. just a little bit sore." lottie grabbed your hand and kissed it, looking up at you while she did it. you smiled down at her and placed your hand under her chin, bringing her closer to you for a quick kiss.

pulling away, lottie's eyes were still closed, clearly in a daze. you giggle at her, moving to kiss her cheek.

opening her eyes, lottie pulls you in for another hug, your head resting on her shoulder.

"you know i would never let anything or anyone hurt you, right?" lottie was rubbing your hair softly, kissing your left temple.

"i know, lot. i know." your grip tightened around lottie, and your eyes closed; heart filled with content and happiness that hasn't been there in a while.
