I do not fucking understand how after 80 years of character arcs, tragedies, different relationships growth and flaws, DC managed to melt down Dick Graysons Character into "Bludhaven and Barbara Gordon" and absolutely nothing else

Bucky Applebees, eventually, starts following Kristen's advice. He does the scary thing, he learns he doesn't have to be scared. Rinse and repeat. He leans into the unknown, the drop-off into deeper waters. His smites glow less golden and more silvery. He sends a quick prayer to Cassandra before trying something new.

He starts to spend time with his adventuring part, for real. They are loud and kind and willing to teach him what he wasn't allowed to learn. They have study sessions and slumber parties. They give each other makeovers with nail polish and hairbands and cheap makeup. (Bucky takes it off before going home.)

They call Bucky "Bee," short for both his first name and last. They don't say anything when he starts wearing the clothes Kristen left behind. It's mostly tie-dye and sweatshirts, anyway.

They let Bee find herself at her own pace. It's slow at first, breaking down the lifetime of fear, and then the dam bursts. She stops asking why and starts existing, lets some things be unknown.

She reads books about The Nightmare King, and the Church of Cassandra blog Kristen started. She sees herself in the story. An angry, terrifying being, isolated. Making a real connection and being given a name. Becoming calmer, fiercer, more herself.

The summer before sophomore year, she shows up at Mordred. She sees Kristen's room, Cassandra's chapel. She whispers a prayer and the altar flickers with starlight.

They sit on Kristen's bed and Bee talks quickly and quietly.

"I don't want to be there anymore. I can't be anything other than your sister."

And Kristen, the girl she looks up to more than any other, smiles.

"Hey girlie."

1000% agree. Although, canonically drinking blood is very pleasurable for both parties (obviously for humans they die, but it feels good at first).

I’m always thinking about IWTV 1x05 when Louis is feeding off Armand (Rashid) at the table and then goes on to call Daniel out for this thoughts about what Armand tastes like… like why did Louis do that?? I’m sure Daniel is thinking all sorts of things about them the whole time, so why that?

My take is that Louis was pissed off and jealous of whatever unspoken feelings still lie between Daniel and Armand, which become increasingly apparent, and wanted to make them uncomfortable. First of all, why did Armand make the whole thing sooo sensual like basically cumming at the table, meanwhile he’s still playing a human servant at that point? Like an actual human would be feeling weak and in pain. And Armand is doing all that that for Daniel to see, not Louis.

And then, like the real freak Daniel is about Armand, his response is to think what does he taste like?? Hello??! That is such a sexually charged thought. Clearly didn’t cross his mind about Damek. And as a human with no taste for blood, why else would you wonder what someone tastes like…

Then Louis taunts Daniel and asks him if he wants a sample. And the whole exchange just seems to adds that much more tension between Daniel and Armand. Louis only seems to call out Daniel’s thoughts when he’s upset and trying to bring him down a notch. Anyways these bitches are so messy and I just think about this moment a lot.

If there is one thing I really appreciate about Interview With the Vampire, it is that Louis’ identity as a Black Gay man is always front and center on his mind. It impacts how he navigates in life, how he sees things and how he inevitably exists.

I just saw the sneak peek clip from ep 3 where he’s going to talk to Armand and he made a great point about why he isn’t in the shadows, hiding with the other vampires. In New Orleans, he had to.

Despite at the time black people being the majority in New Orleans and Louis being on the lighter end of the spectrum (and yes, that has a lot to do with how Black people were treated and perceived in society back then, especially in the south) he still faced racism. Racism was still something that he couldn’t ever shake and being a vampire never fixed that.

Claudia herself, also experienced it and was far more vocal about it than Louis in their relationship to Lestat who was quite literally their slave master at a point. And to be frank, Louis’ relationship with Lester did cloud that very fact of reality. That he is a Black man, held against his will by Louis. And his love for Louis allowed him to put up a form of facade or rather, protection to forget that. 

But anyway, when the two are in France, I love how Louis mentioned that he himself likes to be out and about. He loves to be in cafes, he loves to mingle with people, he loves to be able to exist without southern antilock racism, and homophobia staining his life. And to him, that is more freeing than the immortality and strength granted by being a vampire. He is happy that way, which is what others do not understand. He can be proud to be Black, queer and just exist without having to worry about racism. Because again being a vampire doesn't suddenly make antiblackness vanish.

Claudia however, is different. Because she is a Black woman, and BM and BW live completely different lives when it comes to oppression and misogyny. And Claudia wanting to mingle with the other vampires and stay hidden is a lot more understandable, so this isn’t to compare or contrast them or say that Louis understands racism or oppression whereas Claudia doesn’t.
