The benefits of sensory play: With sensory play, there’s always much more going on than meets the eye. Sensory activities, in addition to being fun and interesting for babies and young children, encourage them to explore and investigate. These activities support children to use the ‘scientific method’ of observing, forming a hypothesis, experimenting, and, making conclusions. Sensory activities also allow children to refine their thresholds for different sensory information, helping their brain to create stronger connections to sensory information and learn which are useful and which can be filtered out. For example, a child may find it difficult to play with other children when there is too much going on in their environment with conflicting noises or signals. Through sensory play, the child can learn to block out the noise which is not important and focus on the play which is occurring with their peer. The use of sensory play can assist the child with touching, smelling, and playing with the texture in an environment with little expectation. Other reasons sensory play is beneficial for children include: It helps to build nerve connections in the brain encourages the development of  - Motor skills - Supports language development - Encourages ‘scientific thinking’ and problem solving - Can involve mindful activities which are beneficial for all children. Great for children with autism and other disabilities.

Sensory play is for children of all abilities. All kids need to learn how to process and interpret the world around them. Sometimes the reality of a special need, like Down syndrome or autism spectrum disorder, provides a few barriers, but the need and importance of sensory play remain the same for all children. Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain's pathways, which lead to the child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, imaginative play, learning, problem-solving skills, and social interaction and is also a calming activity.
Materials include: 1 x Easter bunny 2 x chicks 1 x small cup 1 x scoop (for digging up and scooping items into the cup) 1 x bunny holding blackboard 1 x bunny peg 4 x pom poms (inside the cup) 3 x large Easter eggs 6 x small Easter eggs 1 x Happy Easter rock 3x carrots 1 x piece of artificial grass 1 x packet of coloured chickpeas 1 x picker (for picking up the eggs) 1 x pack of green play dough - Non-Toxic the play dough is coloured only using all-natural food products including food colouring.
