i think it’s beautiful how people pick up certain habits from the people they love, even just the mundane things. i’ve picked up saying “bruv”!from my friend, “babes” from my best friend, “gworl” from another friend, and “wah” from a crush. the way i give double thumbs up is from one of my close friends. “👌” is from a guy i did theatre with. double peace signs from a friend of a friend. the people we know and adore are always leaving their marks on us, and sometimes they stay even when the person themselves leaves. it’s a sweet little thing about humanity that makes me love the world a little more.

why must romance be more important than friendship? in all our longing for romance we sometimes forget our platonic attraction. those special moments shared between close friends that have known each other for years, inside jokes never dying. how a friendship is strong enough to withstand anything, no matter what. the connection within this must also be treasured. platonic soulmates deserve just as much importance as romantic ones.

i love how heartstopper literally hits like almost every letter in the lgbtqia+ acronym but never feels like diversity for the sake of diversity. the characters are not tokenized, stereotyped, or flattened into a letter. they are an unapologetic, queer, vibrant friend group whose identities and personalities shine.
