Honestly I don't have anything to ask, Im just sayin this cause why not LMAO. So like Imagine Adeptus Reader and Guoba/Marchosius' relationship. When Adeptus Reader was little, before the whole peace treaty ordeal,Little Adepti Reader and Guoba were very close, They would cook and eat together and Little Adepti reader play with a minion of Guoba. And then few years later, were Adepti Reader came back to Liyue from Fatui, Whenever Guoba sees them, He would run up to them and hug them all the time.
Honestly? Yea! I could definitely see that! Guoba would probably not remember them but still has a faint bubbly feeling that guoba would run up to reader every time. Definitely puts a smile to reader’s face!
I’d imagine reader to be a bit heartbroken that guoba doesn’t remember them, but still reminiscent the good old time they spent together cooking.

when scaramouche was newly recruited to the fatui, i'd imagine adeptus reader being that one experienced but awkward upperclassman JHSJSJSJ like.. "do you know how (insert something extremely obvious) work" and scara would be like "???? yes???"
This is EXACTLY how I’d imagine their meeting goes like!
Reader probably would ask something like “so.. you can read documents?” (Not sure if the puppet is literate)
And Scaramouche would probably look at reader dumbfounded for asking such obvious questions.
Also probably when Scaramouche was freshly recruited and the tsarista decided to order reader to mentor him for a bit.
Consider: reader awkwardly asks if Scaramouche knows how to do basic Fatui duties
“You know how to collect debts, right? ”
“Collect what?”
“Debts?”
“…no? (Doesn’t even know what Fatui does)”
“…Oh. Ok.”
They would just stare at each other for a while before reader realised they should probably show him what they do around here! Jskadjakhfeo I love imagining this awkward interaction between them!

notes: Please check out keiq0’s art on a female version of adeptus reader!Merry Christmas! This is the last part to the main story. I may edit the whole story later and write some spinoffs when I have time. I also absolutely loved Tsarista in this story, enjoyed writing about her and giving her my hc depths.

Hutao is a lively person.
Your boss is a lively person, indeed.
“Con….gratulations!” Twin tails twirled playfully at the petite girl’s movement, spinning and clicking her heels as she hopped around the place.
“We have gathered today on this joyous occasion to celebrate my competent worker’s three-month arrival!” She pops a few party poppers, sprinkling confetti everywhere while doing a newly choreographed hilichurl dance.
Celebratory hilichurl dance, as she says.
A little too lively, perhaps.
Ganyu claps with twinkling eyes, Xiao looks as if he’s absolutely had enough of Hutao’s antics.
“I still don’t understand why you need an secretary of all things in the funeral parlour…” He crosses his arms, annoyed at Hutao’s proud declaration of you being her staff.
Xiao had previously invited you to join him on his daily routine to eradicate hilichurls and keep Liyue safe when you said you wanted to find a job and work instead of leeching off them.
It was a tempting offer, but he seems to be doing well without you. So well that you spent most of the time watching him clear out hilichurl camps in less than a minute instead of doing the actual fighting.
“Oh ho, jealous? Sad that the hilichurl busters couldn’t keep their fresh recruit?”
“I am not.” Xiao scowled, glaring at her. “What even the hell is hilichurl busters anyway? Stop coming up with weird names.”
You laugh at their childish banter and Xiao’s offended expression from Hutao’s teasing.
“Kids, stop arguing and let’s focus on celebrating.” Zhongli smiles at you, joy radiating off him.
“We have yet to bring out the cake. I also saw another brilliant cake down the street, but alas, I forgot my mora.”
Zhongli’s carelessness remains the same, bringing another chuckle to your lips.
It’s not like you hated being a part of the unofficial hilichurl busters, in fact you do like it a lot, and you still regularly join Xiao on weekends for a stretch and some exercise.
Yet you also find comfort working diligently in the parlour, in the same room as Zhongli and organising the accounting books and ledgers.
You also, as per Hutao’s orders, have to accompany Zhongli on his shopping trips.
“He spent fifty thousand mora on a tea cup set last time! Using our funds! You must keep an eye on his spending habits at all costs! We don’t earn enough revenue to support his lavish spending!”
Shopping trips turn into somewhat like a leisure walk, mostly enjoying tea and dim sum and listening to Zhongli’s ramblings of some ancient tales. Occasionally, you would visit Ganyu to remind her of a break and chat with locals to foster a decent relationship.
The workload isn’t much, as the parlour doesn’t get many commissions, as compared to Ganyu’s mountains of paperwork in her office.
Your office work is rather peaceful and pleasant, and you wouldn’t trade the peaceful days for anything else.
The aroma of rich vanilla and chocolate fills the air as Ganyu brings in a cake with bright and colourful decorations, placing it in front of you. Ivory white and royal blue glazing on the cake resembles that of porcelain and marble, adorned with flower patterns on the sides like a vase.
“It smells amazing, right? I baked it myself! Xiao helped out by putting sprinkles and decorating it! Oh! The chocolate sign is a bit crooked, don’t mind that, he’s got shaking hands when he’s nervous.” She points at the ‘Congrats” message on the chocolate sign, giggling at the shaky writing.
Xiao mumbles under his breath, something along the lines of “I tried my best, hmph.”
But this is already better than anything you could ever hope for.
“Thanks, it looks and smells absolutely delicious, you too Xiao, the glazed lily pattern looks splendid.”
The first few months in Liyue were a little hard to adjust to. There’s no raging snowstorms, no pure elegant snow or the never melting ice.
It was such a contrast to Snezhnaya without the freezing weather.
that you almost forgot you were free from the shackles of debt collecting duties and investigations, when you found yourself heading to northland bank unwittingly.
Ningguang was a bit reluctant at first, considering the now not-so-cordial relationship with Snezhnaya due to the incident Childe caused. She almost considered rejecting your entry permit once she found out you were a recently dismissed fatui member.
Ganyu’s persistent assurance bordering on harassment and intense puppy eyes plea eventually caused her to surrender and permit your stay.
Things were a bit awkward at first. Seeing an unfamiliar face, the locals were giving you strange looks at first, gossiping on who the humble Zhongli had brought home, and how the deeply revered adepti seemed to favour you.
Nevertheless, they were just friendly people whose interest was piqued. Elderly and loved giving you homemade leftovers and freshly picked fruit from their garden, children pulled you around to play with them. It didn’t take long to break the ice and get along.
There were times when you weren’t quite sure on what to talk about with Zhongli. During these times, Zhongli would always tell you about the stories he’d heard of and known by heart.
Some which you had listened to in your childhood and brings you nostalgia, some which were foreign to you and refreshing to listen to.
Tales ranging from urban legends to tragedies of a loved one dying. You sat quietly, indulging in the fictional world Zhongli had presented to you.
You loved the times whenever he would ramble about the beloved tales of mankind. Occasionally, you would share about the ones you heard in Snezhnaya too.
Ones that the Tsarista would tell you long ago. Ones that the previous generations of harbingers would chat about in parties, ones that Childe and his siblings would urge you to read to them.
Zhongli would grin and prepare warm tea on these pleasant days, more glad than ever to hear you open up.
Sometimes, Xiao and Ganyu would join in as well.
Childe had not visited you ever since then, it makes you a bit lonely whenever you recall his promise of meeting you again.
He had only sent a short letter, asking how you’ve been and that he has something to hand over when he comes next time for diplomatic duties.
Perhaps you should write a response soon.
Ganyu carefully lit the candle placed on the cake, clapping rhythmically and nudging Xiao and Zhongli to follow.
“We’re really glad that you're here, right here at this moment celebrating with us.” Her sweet voice earns affirmative nods from the two men next to her. “I pray with all my heart that these peaceful times with all four of us present will continue to go on.”
“Most importantly, we hope that you will be happy here, my dear child. If you have any worries or times you feel down, we’ll always be there.”
“If anyone bothers you, just tell me.”
Xiao and Ganyu pinches either side of your cheeks, Zhongli gently ruffling your hair into a mess, earning muffled protests from you.
“We love you!”
You laugh heartily, the feeling of warmth bubbling up your chest like the autumn’s sun bestowing its grace onto you. A faint blush appears on your cheeks, overwhelmed by the affection your family is showering onto you.
“I love you all too.” You say with the widest grin your lips can form.
They look at you eagerly, waiting for the candle to be blown out.
The golden flame diminishes with a soft blow,
“Make a wish, it’s a tradition between mortals.”
“Aiya… wishes are for birthdays… never mind. Let’s hope for our business to thrive!”
“I don’t believe that is a good thing to wish for, director.”
The pale fume lingers in the air, the hazy and ashy smell with a unique fragrance just like home rushes up your nostrils. A droplet of wax drips onto the cake, urging you to hurry.
It didn’t take long for you to ponder, for you already know what you want to wish for.
If it’s such a small wish, surely Celestia will be lenient and allow it.
I…
I want to stay.
In a place where you belong to and call home.

I am just curious. What is adeptus reader's relationship with the other Adepti's (like Moon Carver, Madame Ping, Cloud retainer, etc.) Since the story only shows Zhongli's, Xiao's and Ganyu's.
Right, I’ve never included them, even if at one point I did want to add madam ping’s interaction with reader.
I do believe that they would treat reader like their cousin, especially Moon Carver and Cloud Retainer fits the personality of being either a reticent or talkative uncle/aunt.
Madam Ping would definitely be like reader’s grandma, sometimes taking care of reader, Xiao and Ganyu whenever Zhongli isn’t free or doing his godly duties.

Regret part 10
Moonlit conversation
Genshin Impact Adeptus! reader
warnings: -
word count:~1.3k
notes: happy mid autumn festival! This chapter is purely about Childe and Tsarista.
[previous] [next]
Tumblr media
The Tsarista is hard to understand.
“Your highness?” the gingered male peeked into the dimly lit room carefully, making sure he's not disturbing his archon.
Deep blue eyes searched the room until they landed on a lonely figure by the window sill, silently gazing at the Snezhnaya waters.
The Tsarista looks back a bit, gesturing to him to come closer.
Childe obliges. He came to find her to have a talk, even if he has yet to figure out what to say. The Tsarista has been rather fickle lately, it seemed like she was making rash decisions.
Even though he knows the Tsarista always have everything planned out. The reasons behind her actions were surely ones a mortal like him couldn’t understand.
The Tsarista is hard to understand.
Not even her closest subordinates - harbingers, could see through her. All her thoughts are masked with the iconic smile, one not sinister nor genuine.
It’s just one without any emotions, an eerie and intimidating smile.
To say the least, the Tsarista is someone incredibly… calculating. Each step she takes, each word she utters, are all through careful consideration.
Fickle and unpredictable. No one could guess her next movement. She slips away like ice.
Which is why, small talk coming from her is completely uncalled for.
“The pier was lively today.” Her quiet and breathless voice caught Childe off guard, shoulders flinching at the unexpected voice.
Has the sun risen from the west? Has the snow melted in Snezhnaya?
Childe carefully observed the divine being, perturbed by her unusual behaviour.
Silky hair pale as snow, cold as ice. A sharp and glacy gaze that sends even the most arrogant humans shivering. Contrasting to her bitter cold appearance, a burning desire could be felt within her glacy pupils. A being said to be so ethereal that just one glance would captivate all men and women across Teyvat-
Except something was a bit different from usual. Childe rubbed his eyes to make sure his eyes weren't playing tricks on him.
Is she…frowing? Could it even be considered a frown?
Very slightly, almost goes unnoticeable, was her furrowed brows and tired eyes that observed the pier.
Her usual smile remains, but less… stoic?
Not one necessarily of affection nor gentle, but rather… relieved?
The Tsarista mostly appear to be disinterested in a lot of things, usually displaying an indifferent attitude.
Yet somehow she feels expressive today.
As if her cold facade had faded just for a bit, walls thinned down just a little.
He feels it’d be okay to ask her.
“Your highness…” cautiously, while being wary of any change in her expression, “why did you...?”
Why did she do that to you? What was her intention in exiling you after draining every last bit of your power? Remains unsaid.
She glances at her harbinger once, before refocusing on the sea, watching the wobbly reflection of the moon in the gentle tides.
“There was no need to keep up the pointless charade, is there?” the words themselves are cold and harsh, but something lies beyond.
“It’s been far too long. That child has been by my side for so many years. ” Childe patiently waits for the Tsarista to continue. It seems that she is in the mood for talking today, willing to share more.
“My initial plan to utilise adeptus power has been met, there is simply no need to keep that child around any longer.” The soft moonlight basking her figure made her even paler.
The queen of Snezhnaya is hard to understand.
Her words were so subtle and ambiguous, hard to fully uncover the hidden meanings.
Childe may not be the brightest, but for some reason he thought he might just have a faint idea on what she’s conveying.
Archons make the mistakes too. He recalled what Zhongli once told him, when he was still naive enough to not realise his true identity.
Archons, deities with absolute authority. But the geo archon had him realising even divine beings feel remorse for their own actions.
But guilt doesn’t seem to be the right word to describe what the current Tsarista is feeling.
It’s something else, hiding deep behind those walls.
“Did you know? There’s a tradition in Liyue for families to reunite under the full moon, no matter how far they parted.” she gazes at the luminous full moon.
Snezhnaya’s queen does not have any love left for her people - a saying he had heard from somewhere long ago, describing the one and only ruler of his home.
Being an archon does not mean they’re perfect, nor can they protect all their loved ones. In Zhongli’s case, he learnt, would be giving up his beloved adeptus for the sake of his people, and losing close friends in the ancient war.
Then how about the Tsarista? She must have lost something precious too.
But that is not for him to butt into.
“I’m sure the weather would be nicer there, without the neverending snowstorms and hail.”
Does the Tsarista truly have no love left for her people?
“As a previous envoy to Liyue, I guarantee that it’s warm and cosy.” a cheeky grin started to form on his face, getting wider and wider.
But perhaps he already knows the answer.
The Tsarista lets out a soft hum at his response, somewhat sounding relieved.
“Your highness, did you know? Morax frequently forgets to bring mora…”
“And he bought a vase for 1 million mora, and I had to pay!”
“Then La Signora knocked Scaramouche’s hat off! He was so pissed!”
“And that moose-deer being talked! I had no idea it was an adeptus!”
Light chuckles and giggles filled the quiet atmosphere along with Childe’s innocent and non-stop rambling.
Just for today, it’s okay for her to drop her facade.
Maybe, the Tsarista is not as unfathomable.
An archon may not be so different from human mortals, after all.
“I’m sure that Zhongli and them are having a great time.” his grin so wide and bright, “that child, well, a child older than me, is finally back home after all.”
“Happy full moon day, your highness.”
“I believe the correct saying is ‘happy mid-autumn festival’, Tartaglia.”
Childe awkwardly rubbed his head and broke out into a loud laughter.
.
.
.
“Could you help me deliver something when you visit Liyue again?” She reaches into her pocket, pulling out a tarnished necklace.
One that is cracked, but pieces of it has been carefully assembled and glued together.
One that resembles the shape of a flower he hadn’t seen in Snezhnaya.
One that seems to be of very old age, considering the oxidized parts. It couldn’t be worth much. Who is the Tsarista giving this to?
“It’s something that child left behind.” Ah. A sudden realisation hits him. So it was not the Tsarista’s own belongings.
“What was done was inevitable for the final destination, I don’t regret it. Yet… that child has been with me for quite some time.”
“That child had quite a hard time. This… is something they held dearly before.” She points at the necklace, running her fingers over the flower. “I wasn’t sure how to give it back.”
So that was why the Tsarista held onto something that seemed so… worn out.
Even though Childe still disapproves of her actions towards you which caused you to suffer, he feels as if he gained a deeper understanding of his archon.
She is meant to be someone brutal who would commit atrocities just to achieve her goal, even if she believes it will lead to peace.
Perhaps that’s why she always kept a certain distance from you. The Tsarista has done terrible things, so, so many heartless and ruthless deeds.
Or maybe, the archons are just not good at communication. Childe huffs at his own thoughts, recalling both Zhongli’s and Tsarista’s expressions when talking about you.
Archons are just as imperfect as mortals are.
The archons sure are hard to understand.

If adeptus reader had non-human features (like Ganyu's horns), would they still have them after their powers were taken away?
Probably not, their physical features will stick with them, they just lost powers like Xiao’s swiftness.

totally random but regret really reminds me of this song /pos

Ouch, it’s my first time listening to this song, but it hit the spot. For a brief second I got immersed in my own world and interpretation of adeptus reader and felt p a i n :(
