The woman smiles sadly as she looks up at the stars, her eyes long dried of any tears. "I know it will. But that doesn't change anything."

The god softly whispers in reply, "And what about the next one? Or the one after that?"

She shakes her head as she closes her eyes, her pale skin all but glowing in the moonlight, marred by inky black lines. "I will do what I must, even if it costs me everything I love time and again." She pauses as she looks down at the blonde haired boy, her smile waning only slightly as she continues, "But if even one can make a difference..."

"Yes, if one can, then it must be worth it," the god finishes. "All these centuries will have been worth it if one manages to change the cycle."

A nod from the woman as she sighs deeply before whispering, now to herself, "I'll make sure he won't take this one away from me... Not again..."

The abandoned child you’ve taken in sleeps on your lap as the god who gave you immortality softly warns you. “This will hurt.”

Alright guys, good news. I finally had time to fix chapters 1 & 2. I also took the time to add a bit to some parts so it flows a tad more smoothly. I will get to work on fixing a typo in another chapter sometime later, so to the few people who noticed, please be patient with that update.
