I guess I've been properly online now since 1989, and I've learned that the internet isn't real life, that the time you spent worrying about a mean thing someone said online (or coming up with the perfect comeback) is a moment of time you'll never get back, that when people are yelling at you you get to turn the computer/phone off and do something else for a few days, and that you are online for you and not for anybody else.
