Heartwired Love

Pairing: Bale!Bruce Wayne x Engineer!Reader
Synopsys: When Bruce surprises Lucius with a visit to his department, he wasn't expecting to find a beautiful woman there. He asks about her and that's how he discovers she's not only pretty, but extremely talented, an engineer who's been working under him for years. He's immediately mesmerised.
Words: 6.1k words
Warnings: Not much, I'd say? There's a lot of fluff, and a lot of funny moments, and like, one suggestive moment? One twinge of angst, but it lasts like two minutes. Maybe some inaccuracies about engineering? I really don't know much about it so I kinda went with my gut and holy fuck I hope I don't get it wrong or upset / offend anyone.
A/N: Hey everyone!!! So, this is a funny story, because a while ago I got an ask. And I thought I was writing that ask, but turns out I got everything mixed up, and this is not really what my sweet anon requested of me. So, while I work on that piece, have what I ended up writing! I think it's rather fun. I'm sorry to my anon, I'll get started on their request right away!
I hope y'all enjoy this!!! <3

You were brilliant.
In fact, if there was a word for anyone better than brilliant, that’d be you.
Bruce first saw you when he visited the Applied Sciences Department. He was quite sure Lucius was the only one who actually did any of the important work there, but boy was he wrong.
He was just visiting the floor to ask Lucius for some help (his suit needed improvements), when he spotted you under a flurry of blueprints and reports. There was a pencil on top of your ear, and you were nibbling on another one as you erased something on the paper in front of you.
“And who might this be?” He asked no one in particular, eyes trailing the way your eyebrows furrowed as you wrote and sketched away.
You told him your last name, not even daring to look up. You were far too busy - a new particle reactor was being built, and it had fallen upon you to build its security system, something that’d keep the machine should it fall on the wrong hands. Bruce leaned over and looked at your sketches, observing the careless handwriting and the doodles and the little comments you had on top of each calculation. “Not good”, “doesn’t work”, “tested and failed”.
“And how long have you been working for me?” He inquired once again, still looking over your blueprints. Your calculations were good - far too good. Where the hell had Lucius found you?
“Lucius,” you mumbled, removing the pencil from behind your ear and drawing a big cross on top of whatever you were writing.
“Excuse me?”
“I work for Lucius, not you,” you said, not even bothering to look up.
“Lucius works for me, though.”
“And I work for him.” Finally, you looked up, and what you saw did not surprise you. You knew Bruce Wayne’s voice, after all, Lucius did work for him, and you’d overheard them talking once or twice. You looked up to him immensely - he was an insanely smart man, you knew what he had achieved in your department (or at least you knew he had something to do with it), and you wanted to cause a good impression. It also did not help that he was extremely attractive, and you were afraid your body would betray you and give you away. It was nothing, really, just a small little crush. It was harmless, really, and you’d rather be noticed for your work, than anything else. You wanted him to see how smart you were, not notice just how much you admired him.
“Are these for the particle reactor?” Bruce asked, leaning against your desk, hoping to hold eye contact with you for a little longer. He liked that look on you, that focused gaze of yours. It reminded him of himself.
You nodded and shook your head with a sigh.
“I’m working on the security system. But so far, it’s been a bust. I can’t find any combinations that allow Wayne Enterprises full access to the system. Full and only. I'm trying to come up with an algorithm that’ll prevent third parties from accessing whatever services the reactor might have, but it’s tough.” Bruce nodded.
“How long have you been at it?”
“Two weeks, give or take. I managed to write a short thing for the opening sequence, but that’s about it. I still have to come up with the rest, and it’s killing me.” You leaned backwards in your chair and stretched, letting out a groan. “And my back hurts like a bitch.”
Bruce chuckled ever so slightly - he wasn't used to this kind of honesty and openness right off the bat. He supposed anyone who worked under Lucius’s supervision would be just like him, honest and truthful.
“How about you take a break?” He crossed his arms, tilting his head. You looked away - was that the famous Wayne Charm he put on every time you watched him on television? You weren't going to be fooled. You didn't want to be just a number on his list. You admired this man far too much to get your heart broken by him - not to mention your job at Wayne Enterprises was a dream, and you did not want to risk that. Did all of that even make sense?
“Mr. Wayne, I don’t think I can afford the luxury of taking breaks,” you chuckled, turning back to your blueprints.
“And if it’s an order?”
“You wouldn't do that. You have far better things to do than order some random nobody to take a break.”
“You don’t seem like a nobody to me.”
“Up until today you didn't even know who I was, and I've been working for you for about two years.”
“For me.” “Huh?”
“You said you were working for me.”
“Under Lucius.”
“Same difference.”
You chuckled at his smugness and let your eyes return to his handsome face. The magazines did not lie - he was even better-looking in person. Sharp jawline, chocolate-brown eyes, he was an absolute dream, and he probably knew it too. Which is why it felt wrong to be laughing along with him. You didn't want to taint the image of Bruce Wayne you had in your head. He seemed like an airhead in public, but you knew just how much he did and contributed to your department - not every airhead can do that. The little crush you’d allowed yourself to develop should remain just that - a crush. People say never to meet your heroes - well, you didn't want to date them either. You thought it would end just as badly.
“Looking at security algorithms all day isn't going to make you come up with them faster. Take a break. I know a nice coffee place not far from here, I'm sure it’d help. And after that, if you want to, you can come back here, drown in blueprints, and never be disturbed again.”
You eyed him curiously, raising an eyebrow.
“Why?”
“Because you look like you’re a sketch away from having a mental breakdown, and despite what everyone says, I do care about my employees’ health.”
You weighed your options.
You could either get coffee with your super hot, super intelligent, super incredible boss, maybe talk to him a bit about your work and prove that you’re an amazing employee, or -
Yeah, it’s not really a hard choice, is it.
That's how you got yourself seated across from Bruce Fucking Wayne, yapping away about your ideas and projects. And surprisingly, he drank up every single word.
As cliché as it might sound, the rest was history.
Bruce took a liking to you almost instantly. You were so smart, so full of ideas and so innovative. It also helped that you were strikingly beautiful, and that he felt himself drawn to you every time you were near.
You allowed yourself to fall for Bruce. Slowly, but you did. Only after he proved to you that he was a good person, that he was nothing like the man people saw on TV and gossip magazines. He was more, much more than that. He was extremely intelligent, being an incredible match for whenever you wanted to discuss any new technological advances, and a very good conversation partner. It helped you two had a shared interest in applied sciences - soon, spending time together also doubled down as him giving you a hand with your projects, and you with him.
It was a win-win situation. You enjoyed spending time with him, he enjoyed spending time with you. You liked doing a good job, he liked helping you. It was perfect.
And it wasn't just about work, of course, you just liked being with him, in his presence. He was comforting and so very funny, and your heart could about burst with joy whenever he was near.
You had that same effect on him as well. During company dinners, he started paying attention to you more and more, dragging you away to dark corridors and telling you jokes and anecdotes about other workers and people he disliked. He'd place his hand on your lower back and bring you close so you could hide your face in his chest and giggle into it. It felt natural to be in his arms, like nothing had changed and nothing ever would.
About three or four months after you began talking and hanging out, he officially asked you to be his girlfriend.
You knew it was a big deal - normal people could date and fool around all they wanted, but not Bruce Wayne. So when he took your hand and looked into your eyes, you knew it was serious.
It had been a lovely evening. A dinner at some nice restaurant you’d always wanted to try but could not afford, a stroll in the park, and his sweet confession under the bright lights of Gotham. It was perfect, and you’d kissed him and thus sealed your romance.
Work became easy to manage after that. You could often be found at Lucius's department, and were often buried with a thousand different projects, so you really didn't have the time to miss Bruce. It's not like you didn't miss him as a whole - simply that you knew the both of you had business to tend to, and the quicker you got it done with, the quicker you could meet up after.
But that’s not to say you didn't spend time together at work. Bruce visited you on your lunch breaks more than often, the two of you pressed against each other as you spoke and ate your respective meals. There was nothing Bruce wanted more than to bring you to his office and spend time with you there, but it was risky. No one knew you were dating, and it could mean trouble for your department and his company. You didn't mind it - your space felt like home, and having Bruce there just added to its charm. Besides, you felt like some sort of character from a movie, hiding your secret relationship with your boss from the entire world. Well, not the entire world. Lucius found the both of you quite often, shooting you Bruce a wink, and you a knowing smile, and telling his boss about how “real smiles look good on him” and how he should smile them more often.
Speaking of home, you got to meet his. Bruce took you to his Manor a few days after you’d started dating. He wanted you to be around his place more often. Being Batman was lonely - being Bruce Wayne was even worse. He had to go home to an empty Manor pretty much every day, with only Alfred for company. And no offense to the older man, he had taken care of Bruce his whole life and he was extremely grateful for that. But the Wayne heir did not exactly want to come home to his butler sleeping on his bed, clad only in one of his shirts. It was a vision he never wanted to have.
Instead, he gave you a set of keys and told you to make yourself at home. If you didn't know just how serious he was about the two of you, you wouldn't have accepted them. And it’s not like you’d be moving in right away - the keys were simply so you could come in and out as you pleased, spend some time with him, spend the night if you wanted to.
He had rules, which you understood. No going in the piano room - that was his father’s old study and he did not want anyone in there. It seemed inviting, and the books on the shelves tempted you, but you did not want to break Bruce’s trust and never entered it.
You made friends with Alfred rather quickly. You found the way to his heart was fixing the coffee machine he so loved and refused to replace.
“Miss, with all due respect, do you know what you’re doing?” He’d asked in that low British voice of his, somewhat worried.
“I promise you, it’ll be good as new.”
To your credit, it was. You'd fixed it after a few minutes, and Alfred marveled as the machine he’d tried to have fixed about seven times the past month worked flawlessly before him. When Bruce got home that day, the butler turned to him with a proud nod and declared you were the one for him.
Bruce thought so too.
That’s why he began planning how the hell he was going to break up with you before things got too serious.
He knew he liked you - that much was obvious. He liked you very much. He liked you, and your personality, and your voice when you chastised him but also when you praised him and told him you loved him, loved your sarcastic sense of humour, loved the way you made his heart leap out of his chest with a simple smile. He thought of all the reasons that made him like you so much, and they only reminded him of why you couldn't be together. He couldn't have you in his life - not when he had a double identity, when he kept a secret as big as life itself. He couldn't drag you into his mess of a life.
Which is why breaking up hurt him a thousand times more than it did you.
He sat you down in his living room and spewed some bullshit about not being able to give you the future you wanted, something about not being a good person and you deserving better. He wasn't very clear, kept it short and concise, and confined himself to his bedroom after it was done so you wouldn't see him cry.
It broke your heart to say the least. You'd come to know this man and learned to love him so deeply, and to have all that happiness taken away from you was devastating. You wanted to follow him to his bedroom, ask why the hell he was doing that to you when you loved each other so much, when you were sure your love was stronger than any force in the world.
But something inside you made you hesitate in front of his father’s study. You were told to never enter that room, but right now, all you wanted to do was go against each and every one of Bruce’s rules. You wanted to love him, to be with him, to go inside the stupid room and play the piano he told you never to touch.
You walked inside, marveled at how pretty everything was, how right. Everything was in its right place, and the room seemed like a very soothing room to be in. You imagined yourself, sitting by the window, book in hand as you sipped your coffee. You could get used to that.
Bruce clearly had no idea what you were up to, because if he did, he wouldn't have let you wander around the room, looking through bookshelves to find out what kind of reading his father did, and finding a weird contraption that seemed far too odd to belong to a bookshelf. That sort of mechanism belonged in doors, in gateways, in entrances - more specifically, to the kind of hidden doors Lucius’s office had.
Bruce clearly had no idea what you were up to, because if he did, he would've found you as you figured out how the hell to open that mysterious door that posed as a bookshelf, and would've stopped you before you could enter the elevator inside.
Perhaps he shouldn't have let an engineer and a technology prodigy alone in his most forbidden room.
Bruce clearly, most assuredly had no idea what you were up to, because if he did, he wouldn't have let you wander around his cave, eyes wide in surprise and amazement. You looked around, wondering why the fuck your boyfriend had a whole ass dungeon to yourself. So you got busy. And it didn't take much for you to understand exactly just what the fuck was happening there.
You looked through the blueprints, through the prototypes, through the endless stashes of papers. You eyed every sketch for gloves and utility belts, and confusion clouded your brain until your eyes laid on top of a cowl. A very familiar one.
Holy shit.
Your boyfriend is Batman.
And then suddenly, everything clicked into place.
The weird schedules, the missed dates, the exhaustion, the odd bruises you managed to get glimpses of.
The breakup.
It all made sense now.
And when Alfred confronted you a few minutes later, having found the secret entrance to the cave open and having quickly followed inside, you frowned and asked out loud why Bruce had hidden such a thing from you.
“I think that is something you should discuss with Master Wayne himself,” was what he’d told you, and you were quick to cradle the cowl next to you and run back upstairs.
You knocked on Bruce’s bedroom door incessantly, and for a while you thought he had gone out or abandoned you for good, but after an assertive “I know who you are”, he opened the door at the speed of light, eyes widening once he took note of the cowl tucked under your elbow.
It was an extremely awkward conversation - for him, that is.
While half of you was freaking out because your boyfriend (you refused to call him your ex. You were not breaking up with Bruce Wayne.) was the fucking Batman and he’d never told you, but the other half told you that everything wasn't always what it seemed, and that you should let him explain himself.
He did, very awkwardly. He wasn't expecting you to find out - not at all. So, this whole “you-found-out-i’m-a-masked-vigilante-after-i-broke-up-with-you” atmosphere was one he was simply not used to. And he hated it! He’d just told you a bunch of bullshit about the two of you not being able to be together - somewhat true - and he’d tried to erase you from his mind. And now you were sitting in front of him while he tried to explain everything to you.
It took a while to settle in, but once it did, it was easy to understand why he did what he did. He told you how afraid he was to lose you, should any of the criminals he fought against get a hold of any personal information on him. He told you about how it was already hard enough to trust Alfred, the man that had raised him his entire life, the man he saw as a father figure, too afraid something would happen to him. The more you knew about his double-life, the more it’d put you at risk.
Still…
You grabbed a nearby pillow and hit your boyfriend on the head repeatedly.
“You - “ HIt. “Are - “ Hit. “Such - “ Hit. “An - “ Hit. “Asshole!” Hit. “What the hell were you thinking!” You hit him once again for good measure and he removed the soft weapon from your hands, tired of being hit.
“I was thinking that I had to protect you.” Bruce said calmly. He’d be lying if he said a massive weight hadn't been lifted off his shoulders. He loved you, truly. He wanted to keep you safe and away from harm and away from him, from Batman, from the one figure that could doom your life forever. But he also trusted you and wanted to share everything that was his with you. He wanted to show you everything, to show you who he truly was and what he did and just trust you because it felt so nice to have someone like you. Someone he could trust. “You shouldn't be with someone like me, with someone that could endanger you so easily.”
“I think I can make that decision by myself,” you retorted, reaching for the pillow again. When it was clear Bruce was not relenting it to you, you scoffed and playfully pushed at his chest. “You're an idiot, Bruce. I thought you didn’t love me anymore.” It seemed like a playful remark, but Bruce could make out the sadness in his voice, and kicked himself mentally for causing it.
“How could I not love you anymore?” He asked, caressing your cheek with his hand. “You’re everything to me. That's why I was willing to let you go, so you could be happy.”
“I can’t be happy without you,” you mumbled.
“You'd learn how to. Find some nice man with no secret identities, who spent his night doing something normal like puzzles or crosswords, whose life would never put you in harm’s way.”
“Puzzles? Crosswords?”
“As long as he didn't go outside dressed like a bat, I'd be happy.”
“But I don’t want that. I want you.”
Bruce sighed and looked away, but his hand never left your face.
“You shouldn't. It’s not good for you to be with me. Hell, look at me. I'm Bruce Wayne. my whole life is under scrutiny and the public eye is merciless. How can I willingly let you be put under a microscopic lense just like I am?”
“That’s not your choice to make, Bruce, and you know it. I don’t mind. I don’t care whatever I go through, as long as I go through it with you,” you held his hand with your own, and placed a few soft kisses on his.
“Still. You just saw my cave. That's not exactly boyfriend material now, is it?”
“I’d say a sex dungeon is worse.”
This earned a chuckle out of him, and for a brief moment, he got lost in your gaze, as he often found himself getting.
“Only you could make me laugh at moments like these.”
“And I'll be here too do that for many more years to come.” You scooted over, and wrapped your arms around his neck. “Just… Don’t shut me out, Bruce. I love you. We can do this together, and I'll be fine, I promise. And honestly, you don't even have much of a choice here, because you said yourself you didn't want to break up with me, so, well, there’s no real reason to do it.”
He sighed, and after a while, nodded. He was allowed to be selfish, wasn't he? To take you for himself, to allow himself the comfort of being loved.
He didn't have much of a choice, it seemed. You were intent on being with him no matter what, and despite a little voice in his head telling him that was a terrible idea, he let himself smile and agree to whatever you had to say. He always would, really.
“So you just weren't going to let me break up with you?”
“Pft,” you scoffed, kissing him softly. “I wasn't. You’re mine now, Wayne. Or should I call you Dark Knight from now on? You gonna save me or something, Batman?” You chuckled slightly and something dark flashed in Bruce’s eyes. With one swift motion, he had you pinned down to the mattress, and your giggles had evolved to full on laughter.
“Pretty cheeky, aren't we today?” He asked with a soft smirk, the one you recognised not from the tabloids and the gossip magazines, but from time spent with you. “You seem awfully into roleplay.”
“Nothing of the sort. Just wondering if having a goal such as rescuing the fine maiden would improve your performance.”
“Improve my performance, huh?”
Bruce reached down to spread your legs and slot himself in between them.
“We’ll see.”
Now that Bruce could be completely open with you, life was good.
He'd no longer come home to an empty Manor and even emptier bed, but you working on some sort of new prototype by the fireplace, or reading about some new technological advancement in bed. Such sights made his heart melt. It was all worth it. The sleepless nights, the bruises, the exhaustion. It was all worth it for you.
Your time together went by quickly, and before you noticed, you were celebrating your second year as a couple. It was a lovely celebration, quiet and private - the way you two liked - a nice dinner by the river, music, some champagne, promises of a future together, and a question to move in with him.
The answer was more than clear. You already spent a lot of time at his Manor, so moving in felt natural and comfortable. You wanted this. Wanted to move in with the love of your life, wanted to wake up to his lovely face every day, wanted to teach him how to make coffee and laugh as he gets it wrong after all this time, want to massage the knots caused from stress off his shoulders, wanted to be with him at all possible times.
Moving in was extremely fun. You had some stuff from your apartment that you simply had to keep. Old memorabilia or some furniture you were super attached to. Items and clothes and such. But aside from that, you simply sold everything else and began your life inside Wayne Manor.
It was great. It was perfect, even. Bruce still came home rather late sometimes, and he still cancelled your days ever so often, but at least you knew where he was, what he was doing. Sometimes, you’d go down to the cave and talk to him, ask him how patrol was doing through the intercoms and ask him to drive home safely. He always complied.
One night, he came home to you fiddling with some of his old grapple gun prototypes. Useless, he thought them, having only kept those for spare parts.
“What’re you doing?” Bruce asked, walking up to you as he removed his cowl.
You smiled. Seeing him in his suit did things to you - it reminded you he was the just vigilante that kept Gotham safe, risking his own life for others, of course - and you gave him a head to toe look, clearly enjoying the view.
“Working on something,” you said simply.
Your boyfriend walked up to you, looking over your latest creation. It was still his old grapple gun, and yet it looked different.
“I implemented two other grapples.” You handed him the object, crossing your arms over your chest. “Was a bit tricky, but I managed to do it. The line is strong to handle five times your body weight now, and you can use it not only to holster yourself up in the air, but also pull heavier objects towards you. What do you think?”
Bruce took the gun in his hands and examined it. It was slightly heavier, but you’d managed to keep it small and efficient. It would be of extremely good use.
“Thank you,” he smiled, pressing a kiss to your head. “You're brilliant, really. What would I do without you?”
“Probably die in a ditch.”
“Probably.”
At first it was hard convincing him that it was totally okay for you to help him in his endeavours as Batman. You told him over and over again that there was nothing wrong with it. You weren't out there, you weren't actually out there, it’s not like you were in danger. No one could hurt you so long as you were in the safety of your shared home. After a few helpful tips and some upgrades on his gadgets, Bruce relented.
And it was when you began to slack off at work that he realised that something had to change. He'd find you asleep on the job, too tired from having spent the night working on some new concoction for him. You couldn't keep your eyes open during meetings, and would fall asleep during every single ride you took.
You told Bruce you were fine, of course. You'd been a college student once, and you’d survived. This was nothing. Still, your too sweet boyfriend would force you to stay home for days on end just so you could get some rest. He needed you not only safe, but also healthy, even if his demands for you to take a break were met with groans and eye rolls.
One night when you were huddled up in bed, you confided in him that you loved helping him out as Batman. It was a way for you to be involved in his life, do something nice for the city, and put your inventions to test.
That's when he came up with the idea.
It took a while for him to confess it, after all, he knew how much of a hardworking woman you were. You wouldn't simply abandon your job to help him out, now would you?
To his surprise, you did.
You loved the idea as much as him. Sure, you loved your job at Wayne Enterprises, and were extremely proud of what you had achieved so far. But you had to admit you were stretching yourself too thin. Between your job and your little side gig, you had no real time to rest and it was killing you. So, you accepted.
You handed in your resignation letter to your boss, billionaire Bruce Wayne (who smiled and spun you around in the air as he kissed you. You teased him about his lack of professionalism and he reminded you the company was his with a pat on your backside.) and headed home.
From then on, you made being Batman’s sidekick (a title he hated, really. You were much more than just a sidekick) your full-time occupation. You had your hobbies, sure, and your interests, and you went out with friends and made the most out of your life. Only this time, instead of working a 9-to-5 job at your boyfriend’s company, you remained inside his cave, crafting new objects and tools for him to use during his nightly duties.
You created an explosive gel for him, a tool he could use to blast doors down and even stun enemies with. You were quite proud of that one, laughing loudly when you heard him use it for the first time through the intercoms. All you’d heard was a loud “boom”, and Bruce’s voice muttering a husky “fuck”. That was how you knew you’d done a good job.
The Remote Control Batarang was one of your finest inventions. Bruce first asked you what he hell he needed a remote control Batarang for (he also hated the name Batarang - truly, no fun), but it proved to be useful real quickly.
“You have two men to your left, one of them has a gun, the other has a bat.” Chuckle.
“Very amusing,” Bruce whispered.
“I think it’d be a good time to try the remote control Batarang,” you said, eyes flicking between the screens in front of you. “The one with a gun seems confident, but the other one not so much. If you tackle him down, he’s sure to not put up a fight.”
“You were dying for me to use this, weren't you?”
“So much.”
You heard him remove the Batarang from his belt, and the few beeps informed you he was done setting it up. The slight woosh as the object cut through the air, and a distant man’s scream of agony was enough for you to know you’d succeeded once again.
“Now who doesn’t need a Remote Control Batarang?”
“Don’t call it that.”
“Love you too. Coast is clear though, go ahead.”
Maybe the Shock Gloves were your favourite. They were a quick and easy way for your boyfriend to stun his enemies and leave them unconscious long enough for him to do whatever he had to, while not taking their lives.
You took Bruce’s no killing rule extremely serious. While you thought some of the people that terrorised Gotham most certainly deserved a fate worse than prison, you thought it was noble of him never to take a life for himself. His moral code was commendable and something you loved about him.
And it goes without saying that after you finished the first prototype for the shock gloves, you made a smaller, daintier tool that allowed you to playfully shock people when you greeted them. Alfred was your first victim and later that evening, he cut off your hot water in retaliation. Touché.
Your freeze blasts were quite useful as well. He'd used them only a handful times, but as long as he did and they helped, that's all that matters.
Sometimes, Bruce would come home in the late hours of the night (or perhaps the early morning), and find you doubled over your desk, sketching prototypes or putting pieces together.
It warmed his heart to see you were working so hard just for him, but tugged at it because you needed sleep. You needed rest, and here you were, working away for him. Creating new “toys”, as you’d so often call them.
“What’re you still doing up?” He asked one particular night/morning, after having taken off his suit, and resting his head on the juncture between your shoulder and your neck. You sighed at the gesture - after such a tiring day,Bruce’s comfort was all you needed.
“Working,” you mumbled, fingers moving with dexterity, tugging and twisting at some cables.
“Isn't it a bit too late for you to still be working?” He replied against the skin of your shoulder.
“Isn't it a bit too late for you to be coming home?”
“I’m not working anymore though. Coming to bed.”
“Are you? Goodnight then.”
Bruce shook his head and you could feel his brown locks brushing against your skin, tickling you.
“Look at how far we’ve come. I used to be the one abandoning you in bed.”
“You're lucky I found a new hobby.”
“Hm.”
You remained in silence for a while as Bruce watched you work. He had no idea what this new contraption of yours was, but he was sure it’d be brilliant, as they all were. As you were.
“This,” you said, voice only above a whisper, as if to not distract you, “Is a remote electrical charge.”
“Interesting.” What was interesting though, was that he began pressing kisses to the column of your neck, hands wandering to your waist. “I can’t wait for you to tell me all about it tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?”
“Yes. Because now, we’re going to sleep.”
You scoffed.
“I have to finish this Bruce, I'm sorry.”
“You’re stubborn. So very stubborn. Why did I hire you anyway?”
You turned to face him and feigned a thoughtful expression.
“Because I'm really hot and you love me?”
“Damn it. Both of those are true.”
You chuckled and leaned in to kiss him, sighing as soon as his lips slotted against yours. You'd never get tired of kissing your boyfriend, that was for sure.
“Fine,” you mumbled.
“Hm?”
“Take me to bed, Batman.”
“No. No Batman here. With you, I'm Bruce.”
“And that's what I love the most about you.” You smiled and lifted your arms, a silent plea for him to carry you. He rolled his eyes but did so effortlessly nevertheless, happy to obey your every command. And he of course was a sucker for having you near him at all times.
“Let’s take a shower first. You reek, Batguy.”
“Whatever you say.”
Needless to say, the Remote Electrical Charge was extremely efficient.
You were the perfect pair, really.
Although you joked about being Bruce’s sidekick, you felt more like a partner, really. You'd go and make the tools, he’d go out there and use them to kick some ass. It was a perfect situation. A win-win. And you didn't mind not working at Wayne Enterprises anymore, not really. You still visited Lucius often, and, when you weren't too tired, you’d help him out with certain projects. Your ideas and skills had only gotten better after all the things you’d help build, and your former boss appreciated the effort.
You helped Bruce with pretty much everything.
Helped improve his suit, fixed his car (more than once), his motorcycle, and even made a few prototypes for other means of transportation. He’d tested everything from jetpacks, to something that weirdly resembled a rocket and a flying suit. There really was no limit to your imagination.
Your life as Bruce’s girlfriend was eventually discovered, shortly after you two moved in together, and you decided to take in a “secret” identity, just as he did. To the public, you were Bruce Wayne and his dumb girlfriend who spent her days inside his mansion, sunbathing and spending his fortune. To those who knew you better (so, like, about two or three people), you were the Caped Crusader and his inventor girlfriend.
Although that title didn't stick for long, because after a few years, Bruce asked you to marry him.
That’s when you became his inventor wife.
And that was a life you were happy to lead.

A/N: And that's it!!! I hope you guys enjoyed this! Once again, I'm so sorry to my anon. I've been super busy and tired, and I got the requests mixed up. If it helps, I really enjoyed writing this - Bruce and an engineer girlfriend who builds stuff for him sounds like a pretty cool idea.
Well then, that's all for today!!!
I hope y'all have a wonderful day ahead <3

james potter x reader, fluff
I’m in love with you, he almost says to you.
It’s there, sitting heavy on his tongue, ready to tumble out the moment he opens his mouth.
You haven’t done anything to prompt this sudden rush of love, overwhelming enough to suffocate him. But the sun has been dying on the horizon, bathing you in golden light, and your eyes have turned to him, warm and gentle.
It has felt like you were combing back his hair with your gaze. Like you were physically envelopping him in a soothing hug with your mind.
And he knows. In this precise moment, in this second that’s lost to time as soon as it arrives, that he loves you.
“Are you okay?” you ask suddenly, pulling him back from the biggest revelation of his life. He can’t talk – the words are still stuck in his throat – so he nods.
You raise one brow, a small, teasing smile on your lips. “You’ve been awfully quiet.“
Oh, God, you have no idea how much I love you.
“Just admiring you, baby. Mind your own business, actually,” he teases with a daring grin, but still pulls you into a hug.
“Oh, we’re being mean now? That’s cool, I can be mean too. I’ll be so mean.” You mumbled into his shirt.
There’s bemusement and pure joy to his words as he says, “You’re fucking precious to me, you know that?”

“Hey, hey I’m here,” you whisper in the dark as Bruce whimpers in his sleep. He’s having another nightmare and all you’re trying to do is get him to wake up.
You gently cup his cheek, rubbing your thumb softly against his skin.
“Bruce. I’m here, please wake up.” You call to him. Bruce opens his eyes. He immediately reaches to you and wraps his long arms around your torso. He buries his face in your chest for comfort.
“It’s okay. You’re okay,” you reassure him. You heart breaks to see him this way. Knowing that behind his sometimes cold and dark demeanor he is still the scared little boy in that dark alley way.
Bruce is breathing heavily and once you calm him down some he looks up at you. “My nightmare, it was about you.” He practically whimpered.
You don’t respond, instead you let Bruce continue to speak. “The Joker, he had you tied up in a cellar somewhere. I couldn’t get to you in time. I tried but it was too late.”
Bruce looked like he was in pain. He loved you so much and he never wanted to see you hurt. He hated when his mind did this to him. You kissed Bruce’s forehead and ran a hand through his hair.
“I’m not going anywhere Bruce. I’m safe and you are safe. I promise.” You said softly. Bruce nodded and pulled you close to him. He needed to hold onto you so he knew you were really there.
You watched over him until he eventually fell asleep with you in his arms. Throughout the night you never let each other go. You were going to keep your promise.

pairing: Bale!Bruce Wayne x fem!reader
warnings: kinda rushed relationship, fluff, Bruce being protective and kinda stalker vibes. Not proof read. Kinda long?

❤︎︎❤︎︎❤︎︎
Bruce was your protector. That’s how he saw it anyway. He would do anything to keep you out of harms way. But you also had a life that he could not control. Bruce worried about you a lot, especially when you were not with him.
It wasn’t safe in Gotham. The Joker was running rampant. Scarecrow — Dr.Crane — still hadn’t been found. These were all of Batman’s enemies. If they knew about Bruce being Batman then they would come for you.
You had nagged your way into Bruce’s life. As a reporter for the Gotham Gazette, you wanted to interview Bruce for a charity he was donating a lot of money to. Usually Bruce wasn’t big on giving interviews.
When you walked into his office on your arrival, you were taken back by his good looks and obvious charm. You’d seen him in magazines and in your publication but in person he looked quite different.
“Mr. Wayne,” you greeted him.
When Bruce saw you, he was struck. You were beautiful. But your presence felt familiar. Like he knew you in another universe.
“Please call me, Bruce,” He insisted and you nodded, taking out your reporters notebook and tape recorder.
You sat down across his desk and crossed your legs. Bruce looked you up and down and you felt uneasy.
The interview went well and you went back to your office to write the article. You couldn’t shake off Bruce though. And Bruce couldn’t shake you off either.
He wondered when he would be able to see you again. Little did he know, you had a thing for getting yourself in sticky situations.
One night you were in the office working late, when you got a tip about a deal going on between two of the Jokers henchmen. That would be a big story for you, you thought. So impulsive as you were, you grabbed your bag and left.
Bruce was patrolling as Batman, when he saw two of the Joker’s henchmen start making a deal. He then saw you, hiding behind a dumpster. His heart dropped into his stomach. What the hell were you doing here? This is not safe for you!
You tripped behind the dumpster and one of the goons heard you. It wasn’t long until they cornered you and grabbed you.
“Hey! Let me go!” You screamed. You tugged against them and they had your purse. You stepped on one of the men with your heel and he yelped, letting you go.
You began to run away when the second one caught you.
“Let her go,” A dark voice in the shadows said. You looked up only to see the famous ‘Batman’ that Gotham Gazette had been so interested in.
Batman dropped down from the building and grabbed the goon. You fell to the ground but picked yourself back up. Batman fought the men and you watched from the sidelines.
“You should go,” Batman told you, tying up the Jokers goons.
You shook your head, “this is a story and a crime scene. I’m not leaving.”
Bruce thought you were stubborn. But it was attractive that you cared enough to stay. From that moment, he wanted to be by your side always.
When the cops showed up, you got your story. Even Batman gave you a quote, which was rare.
“Do you need a lift home?” Batman asked. Bruce under his mask was blushing furiously.
You looked so calm in a state of panic. You were truly a reporter.
“That would be nice, actually. Thanks,” you replied. Batman drove you home. “Thanks for saving me back there.”
Bruce smiled softly. His persona of Batman slipping away. You were that dangerous.
“It’s no problem. You need to be careful out there.” He said, then driving away.
You didn’t see Batman or Bruce for a while after that. But Bruce kept tabs on you. He wanted to see you again. Maybe ask you out for coffee. But he was afraid to get involved. Alfred called him silly.
“It would be nice to see you settled down, Master Wayne. This girl seems like a wonderful person.” Alfred said, always the helpful one.
Bruce wasn’t very good at taking Alfred’s advice though. The next time he saw you, you were in disguise. However it wasn’t very good, as Bruce spotted your curious eyes from a mile away.
“You know, if you’d only reached out I would give you any source you want,” Bruce said, taking a drink from his glass of whiskey.
You turned around to see him, albeit surprised. “Mr. Wayne.”
“Bruce,” he corrected.
“Bruce. I am perfectly capable of getting my own sources. But that is not why I’m here.” You said.
Bruce furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. “Why are you here?” He asked, holding out his hand to dance with you.
You accepted and he pulled you into his arms. “Did you know that one of Commissioner Gordon’s men is working for Joker?”
Bruce didn’t know this. In fact he wondered how you knew before him. You were smart and he was falling more in love.
“I did not. Please tell me more.” Bruce said.
You looked in his eyes and found that you could trust him. His brown orbs looked so familiar, like you’d seen them in a dream.
“The men you arrested that one night. I went to Arkham to interview them again. And he ratted out the information but no name,” you explained.
You and Bruce continued to dance, he held you close and you found yourself blushing.
“And this person. Is here now?” Bruce asked and you nodded.
“Once I know who they are. We can alert Batman.” You said brightly.
“You really think so highly of him?” Bruce asked, snobbishly. He had to play his part well.
“Of course. He’s helping the city.” You said.
Bruce couldn’t argue. He loved that you thought so highly of Batman — of him. But you had no idea they were one and the same.
As you danced with Bruce, your connection grew. You got lost in his eyes and he in yours.
“Bruce…” you said, above a whisper.
“Yes?” He asked, looking down at your lips then back to your eyes.
Before you could answer, the doors to the dance hall closed shut and Jokers goons crowed around the doors.
Bruce held you close. He had no idea how he was going to pull off being Batman and getting you out of there.
You and him stopped dancing and he wrapped his arms around you protectively. You blushed.
“Do you trust me?” Bruce asked. You looked at him suspiciously but then nodded.
Bruce guided you away from the surprised crowd as fast as he could. He practically carried you off that dance floor.
“Bruce— what about? Where are we—“ you began to argue.
He shushed you, “You said you would trust me. Now please be quiet,” he pleaded.
You did as you were told. Bruce lead you to a secluded part of the building and opened the wall.
“What is this your panic room?” You teased. Bruce gave you a look. “Alright I’ll be quiet.”
Once you were through the wall, the lights to a gigantic room turned on and in the middle of the room was — the Bat suit.
“I can’t have anything happening to you. The joker probably came here for you because you’re on this story. Now I need you to stay here where you are safe.” Bruce said, beginning to undo his tie.
“You’re Batman.” You said, speechless.
Well there’s goes no telling her out of the window., Bruce thought.
“Yes.” He replied.
You walked closer to him. “So you’re the one who saved me. The one that drove me home.”
You were speechless and had all these pent of feelings for the man that saved you. Who was also the man who danced with you.
You pulled him to you by his half undone tie and kissed him softly. Bruce immediately kissed back, his hands wrapping around your waist.
“Hmm, you have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to kiss you,” Bruce said, pulling away.
You smiled, looking into his eyes softly. “Go. Be Batman. But please be safe.”
He nodded, a hand going to your cheek to caress it softly. “I will. I need you to stay here though. I need to protect you.”
You knew that Bruce Wayne and Batman would always be your protector.

Hello!! Could I request Bruce Wayne x fem!reader? Where the reader is Bruce Wayne's wife and Bruce being way to overprotective sometimes due to his fear that maybe Joker will kidnap her?🙈
Sorry for being offline, I have been busy asf due to school tests and everything!
౨⚜Bruce Wayne's wife hc⚜ৎ
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bruce, being the typical play never thought about being truly in love and smitten by someone nor did anyone else in Gotham
That was until he met... You, his one and only
He rarely took you to any charity events, not because he wanted to keep the relationship a secret, it was his fears.
He already knew whole Gotham knew about his marriage, heck the news papers were full regarding the wedding, some positive, some weren't.
His loyal butler and caretaker Alfred adored you, often you reminded him of Martha Wayne, Bruce's mother. He knew Bruce's parents would have adored you if they were still alive
Bruce being the protective man he is often assigned bodyguards to look after you whenever you went out shopping.
Being his wife isn't easy tho. He comes home later after a patrol, often injured, when you try and help him he denies and pushes you away trying to convince you that he is fine
Arguing with Bruce isn't easy either, he is very stubborn and sometimes it looks like he is dead inside
Morning cuddles are rare with him, but at least he tries.
Often when you wake up he is already gone somewhere, maybe working out or repairing, or attending a meeting he really didn't want to go to at Wayne enterprise.
But when he actually is in bed with you, he'll hold onto you like the world is ending. He will kiss you everyway, your forehead, neck, lips, nose. Anywhere.
He loves you so dearly, when he does take you to charity events don't expect to be alone, he'll follow you everywhere.
He has his arm around you waist, holding you close to him. Always greeting new people before you to make sure they don't try anything
He would also make sure no drinks are poisoned, he's paranoid.
To top it all off, he spoils you. He gave you one of his credit cards already and let you buy anything.
He loves watching movies with you, maybe you two will watch the Conjuring series
Now you get annoyed with his overprotective nature, sure he is a overprotective paranoid man but it's too much for you
You two may argue, but he loves you more than anything and anyone.
He loves you, and he'll keep his words "Till death do us apart"

I'm the Lucky One
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Bale!Bruce Wayne x Drunk!Fem!Reader
Synopsys: You got a bit too drunk at the club tonight. Luckily, your husband is quick to come to the rescue and take care of you.
Words: 3.2k words
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol and being drunk of course, drunken speeches, just a lot of fluff and a bit of crack, reader is mentioned to be quite a bit drunk. Some suggestive themes, cursing and vulgar language (not on Bruce's side). Just a fluffy, funny fic, really.
A/N: Hey everyone!!!! So, I got hammered last night and I was wondering how nice it would be if I had Bruce taking care of me,, so I wrote this. It was hilarious, I got home and got my keyboard and my tablet and just started typing away as I sobered up.
I love this man so much I wish he was the one taking care of me omg... Anyway I hope you guys like this! It's just a small fic, something short, I wanted it to be short and sweet <3
Tumblr media
“You’re literally the most handsome man I have ever seen in my life.”
“Am I, now?”
“You are. Holy fuck. I think I'm in love with you.”
Bruce chuckled softly at your words as he helped you down the stairs of the club you found yourself in. His arm was steadily wrapped around your waist, his other one reaching for the limo door.
It was a lovely night in Gotham, and you had decided to go out with your friends.
“It’ll be fine, Bruce, we’re just celebrating Maggie’s return with a couple of drinks and that’s it. No need to worry,” you had told him, punctuating your statement with a kiss on his cheek. Bruce had believed you. sort of. He'd told Maggie to warn him should you go overboard with the drinks, and two hours later, he was getting a call from her about how you were fucking plastered.
“Are you single, by any chance?” You asked, turning to him with an extremely serious expression. Bruce cocked an eyebrow and held you steadily, both hands on your hips, preventing you from swaying as obviously as you were. “There’s no way you are. You're far too hot. Fuck, you really are one handsome fucker. Look at his jawline – “ You reached to touch his face and Bruce softly caught your hand, bringing it down next to the other one and releasing it once he understood you would not try to touch him again.
“How about we get in the car, huh?” He asked, opening the door before him, and making sure you got in without tripping or falling or hurting yourself – a miraculous feat in itself.
“What a gentleman, holy fuck,” you slurred, shaking your head, “Mister, not only are you the hottest man I've ever seen, you’re also a gentleman. You're the whole package. You know, I think I'm in love with you. I’m so in love with you, it’s actually insane. Holy shit.”
“Well, we have been married for a couple of years. I'd expect you to at least like me.” He replied nonchalantly.
Next to him, your jaw dropped. Your mouth hung wide open, and you blinked repeatedly, staring at the man in front of you. You didn’t seem to notice the car was already in motion, Alfred looking amusedly at you through the front mirror.
“We are?” You asked, blinking a few more times, much to Bruce’s delight.
“We are.”
“We’re married!?”
“For almost three years now. Happiest thing that’s ever happened to me.”
The information took a while to settle in your brain. You turned your head comically slow to the side, and stared through the window, Gotham’s city lights blinding and eternal. Then, you turned to him again. There was no way the handsome man before you was your husband, was he? He was wearing a lovely dark blue sweater polo, and dark pants. His hair was combed back, but there seemed to be no product on it. He looked effortlessly perfect, and it was hard for you to just believe he was yours. I mean, how could a man like this belong to you?
Bruce seemed to read your mind, because he took your hand in his and turned it in his palm, showcasing the pretty gold band around your ring finger. Your eyes widened even more as he showed you his own, and you looked from his hand to yours, trying to put the pieces together.
“We are married.”
“We are.”
“Holy fuck. You're my husband.”
“And you’re my wife.” The phrase was said with a soft smile that often accompanied whatever words Bruce said about you – after all, he was whipped.
You stared at him for a while longer, before bringing your hand up to your arm and pinching it.
“Are you sure this isn't a dream?”
“I’m sure. We're here, honey,” he said, looking out of the window. The car ride had felt like an eternity to you, but maybe that was simply because your notion of time was warped. In only a few minutes, Alfred had parked in front of Wayne Manor and Bruce was leaving the limo to help you out.
“C’mon, hold my hand,” he said, extending his arm to you. You looked at him, at his shiny hair and beautiful eyes and giggled like a schoolgirl in live – which was exactly how you felt. You took his hand and did your best to maneuver your way out of the limo. Unfortunately, your head had other plans. You stood up far too quickly and your head began to spin, causing Bruce to hold onto you tighter. He pressed you against him to keep you from falling, but your body swayed from side to side before catching on itself. You tripped and were quite sure that’d be your end, when you felt Bruce’s hands steading you.
“Where are you going?” He joked, turning you to face him. You gazed into his eyes, and he chuckled at the confusion and laziness laced in yours. You had a dazed look to yourself, lips slightly parted and brows furrowed.
“Think you can walk on your own?” Bruce asked, even though he knew what the answer would be.
“Where are we going? Where are you taking me?” You asked, looking around. Once you caught sight of Wayne Manor, you chuckled, pointing at it like an excited child. “There’s no way. That’s where we live? We live in a freaking castle!? Can this day get any better!?”
The man before you just smiled and shook his head. Whatever you’d drunk had worked you up pretty well. He bent over slightly and scooped you up in his arms, earning a giggle out of you.
“Hey!” You exclaimed, swinging your legs slightly, before you realised just how nauseous all the motions made you, and decided to stop. “What're you doing?”
“I’m taking my lovely wife to bed, because she’s unwell.” Was his response as he crossed the threshold of your shared home, Alfred following close behind.
“Should I prepare a bath, Master Wayne?” The butler asked, glancing over at your figure, now far too busy gaping at the magnitude of your home.
“Yes please, Alfred. I'll try to get her out of these clothes.”
“Very well, sir.”
Alfred moved to your shared bedroom, and Bruce followed, albeit slower. He was afraid moving too quickly would cause you to feel sick, and the last thing he wanted, was you vomiting. Not because he didn't want your puke all over his floor or anything – simply because seeing you in pain or discomfort caused him an ache that was too big to even describe.
Once he reached your bedroom, he placed you on top of your shared bed, holding you closely.
“I’m gonna let go of your arms to take off your shoes. Think you can manage not to fall?”
“Why you letting go of me, handsome?” You pouted. It was adorable really, and it took every ounce of control in Bruce’s body not to claim your lips with his own. He wasn't going to take advantage of you, not when you were intoxicated and not thinking straight.
“It’s just for a while. Let's get you out of this dress, okay? And won’t it be nice to take off your shoes?”
“Yeeeeeeeah,” you whined, wiggling your legs in front of him. “They’re hurting me so bad. Why did I choose to wear heels?”
“Well, you said you looked, and I quote, really fucking hot in them.”
“Shit. I bet I did.” You chuckled. For a few seconds, you lost balance and fell backwards on your bed, laughing loudly. Bruce looked at you and just sighed, trying his best to avoid your legs as you kicked and wiggled around, before finally being able to take off your high heel shoes.
“Master Wayne, the Madame's bath is ready,” came Alfred’s voice as he returned from the bathroom.
“Thank you, Alfred. Feel free to retire for the night.”
“Are you sure, sir?”
“Yeah, I'll take care of her. Just go get some sleep.”
“Very well, then. Goodnight, sir.”
“Goodnight, Alfred.”
“Goodnight, miss.”
“Goooooooood niiiiiiiiiight!” You laughed loudly.
“On second thought, could you please get her something to eat? A toast would be nice, something light. I can’t possibly give her medication on an empty stomach.”
“Right away, sir.”
Alfred left the room, and you rolled around on the bed, unknowingly scrambling away from Bruce’s body.
“Honey, please stop moving. The quicker we do this, the quicker you can go to bed. Don't you want that? To get some rest? Get into your comfy pyjamas, get under your blankets?” He tried bargaining with you, but he knew it would be heard in the state you were in. It was like getting a hyperactive child to go to bed.
“Nope,” you popped the “p” with a grin, and quickly sat up, eyeing your husband with a knowing grin. “I want a kiss from you.”
“Bath first. Kisses later.”
“No, kisses now. I want a kiss from my husband. You are my husband, right?”
“I am.”
“Okay then, kiss me.”
“I can’t. You're not feeling well, and I don’t want to take advantage of you.” Bruce explained calmly.
“So, you don’t love me.” The seriousness in your voice stopped Bruce in his tracks. What?
“Honey, I do love you. That’s why I'm telling you to go to sleep. Right now, you need to get some rest. The sooner, the better.”
“You don’t love me,” your lip wobbled almost comically, and large tears welled up in your eyes. Instead of being annoyed, Bruce found it somewhat endearing. He could never find you irritating, no matter what the context was. To him, you’d always be the most important person in the world, no matter how you found yourself. “You don't love me, and you don’t wanna kiss me. Is that it? Is our marriage a fraud? Did you even ever love me?”
“Darling, I do love you. Come on, let’s get you in the tub, is that okay?”
“You don’t love me anymore,” you leaned your head backwards as tears rolled down your cheeks, and Bruce was quick to move next to you on the bed, gathering you in his arms. You cuddled against him almost instantly, pressing your face against his neck and wrapping your arms around his middle. Bruce soothed you with soft words of reassurance. Yes, he did love you. Very much. You were the light of his life, and he worried so, so much about you. He never wanted to see you in pain. That was why he was being so bossy, because he just wanted you to feel better. All of this because he loved you immensely.
After a while, you looked up at him, bottom lip jutting out.
“So you love me?”
“Incredibly so.”
“Kiss me?”
“Just once. And then, bath.”
You nodded eagerly, tilting your head upwards and making kissy motions with your lips. Bruce rolled his eyes in amusement and leaned down, giving you a soft peck.
“There. Now, bath.”
“What!? That wasn't a kiss! You barely touched me! I want a real one,” you whined again, pushing away and looking at him with a scandalised expression. “A big one. And then bath. Pleeeeeeeeeease?”
“You’re so lucky I love you,” Bruce mumbled before cupping your cheek and tilting your head upwards so he could kiss you. This time it was longer, his tongue darted out to explore your lower lip and he could still taste the alcohol you’ve had at the club. You melted instantly into his touch, humming, and pulling him closer. However, the moment you tried to deepen the kiss, he pulled away and tutted.
“No. Time for a bath now. Okay?” Bruce caressed your cheek softly and pressed a kiss against your forehead.
“You're a really good kisser. I want one more, c’mon.”
“No, we agreed on one kiss. Now you need a bath. After that, and only if you’re good, I'll kiss you some more. Okay?”
You gave him the dreamiest smile he thinks he’s ever seen, and sat up almost immediately, bringing your hands to your head shortly after. “'s spinning…” you mumbled.
“I know, honey. Let me take care of you, alright?”
“Alright.”
Bruce picked you up in his arms once again and brought you to the en-suite bathroom. he sat you down on top of the toilet lid, carefully helping you remove your dress and underwear and pressing kisses against the exposed skin every so often to make you smile. After you were naked, he removed your makeup and helped you inside the bathtub, where you laid back and sighed in relief. Bruce was quite sure you were getting to the drowsy state of your drunkenness, so he didn't force you to talk or tire yourself out even more. All he wanted was for you to feel good.
He helped you bathe, lathering up soap and rubbing soothing circles on your arms, legs and whole body so you could wash the day off you. Once he started washing your thighs, you turned your head to him and gave him a cheeky smile, to which he replied, “Not tonight, you need to rest”, and that was the end of it. This handsome man who happened to be a really good kisser (and apparently your husband) seemed to know what he was doing, so no matter how much you wanted him to touch you somewhere else, you’d agree with what he was saying. After all, he was right, you were already feeling much better.
Once you were done, Bruce wrapped you around in a fluffy towel, carefully drying you off. The fluffy fabric was soft against your skin, and you smiled as Bruce applied body lotion on your body. Even if you were tired and couldn't do it yourself, he would always do it for you. He did promise you forever, in sickness and in health. And he supposes in intoxication and sobriety as well.
When he sat you back down on your bed, you were wearing your pajamas and your eyes were threatening to close.
“How about you stay here while I get something for you to drink?” He asked, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. You frowned. Why was he leaving? And why was he getting you a drink? You didn't want any drinks. Drinks had made you feel like this. You wanted the handsome man to kiss you some more. Fuck, he really was a good kisser. Maybe you could convince him to kiss you in your –
“Honey? You hear me?”
“Why are you going? Don’t go. I don’t want any drinks. My stomach is hurting,” you chided softly.
“I’m getting you something for your stomach, okay? It'll make you feel better. Do you trust me?”
“I do. I think I trust you with all my life, you know. You've been so kind to me.”
Bruce smiled at your words and kissed the top of your head, whispering “I’ll be right back”.
Almost as if on cue, Alfred knocked on the door of your shared bedroom and walked in after Bruce opened it for him. He handed the Wayne heir a small plate and offered you a sympathetic smile before leaving the room.
“Hey honey, think you can eat some of this?” Bruce asked, returning to your side.
You looked at the plate in front of you and at the sheets in your bed.
“I'm not gonna eat in bed.”
“It’s okay, we’ll just wash the sheets later.”
“No, that’s – ewwww! No, I don’t wanna eat in bed. C'mon, help me up.”
Bruce only had a few seconds to remove the plate from in front of you when you threw the covers back and tried to stand up on your own, failing miserably and having to clutch onto his arm.
“I’ll do it there,” you pointed towards your vanity and Bruce nodded. He'd always comply.
Once you sat down and busied yourself with your toast, Bruce hurried towards the bathroom. He prepared a glass of water and some pain relievers to prevent a potential headache. Once he returned, you were already up on wobbly legs, doing your best to make it to the bathroom bu yourself.
“Hey – hey,” Bruce put down the glass and pill, immediately rushing for you. “Why are you up?”
“Look, you’re super fine and I totally wanna do you,” you slurred, “But you’re helping me far too much and I don’t wanna bother you. You've been like a babysitter, and I'm not a baby, and I can walk on my own because I am a strong independent woman, and I don’t need your super strong arms to carry me, even though I really like it when you do that because you’re so hot. I’ll walk on my own.”
Bruce smiled at your words. You'd always been one to dote on him and compliment him. He was used to flattery, sure, but he always knew you meant every word you said, they weren't just empty phrases to get you on his good graces. He brought you closer by the waist and caressed your cheek.
“I know you’re a strong independent woman.”
“I am.”
“And I know you can do it by yourself.”
“I can. I can do it by myself.”
“I know. But let me help you.” He kissed you softly and you sighed against his lips. There was really no argument here, was it? It wasn't a hard choice. You let Bruce help you as you walked towards the bathroom. He turned around while you peed (not like he hadn't seen you like that before, he just wanted to give you some privacy), and steadied you while you washed your hands and made your way back to bed.
Once you were comfortably sitting down (again), he brought the glass of water and the pill to you, which you took with no complaints.
“There’s my lovely girl. It’ll help you feel better in the morning.”
“Okay,” you nodded, placing the glass on the bedside table next to you. “Are you gonna go now?”
“Why would I? I'm going to bed too.”
“Here?”
“Yes. Here.”
“We sleep together? In the same bed?”
Bruce walked around the bed so he could lay down on his side, and you followed suit, although much slower.
“Every night.”
You sighed and turned to face him, a silly smile playing on your lips as your eyes fluttered close.
“I can’t believe I'm this lucky. I'm married to a really hot gentleman, my house is super big, and I get to sleep with you every night. This is the dream.”
Bruce chuckled and wrapped one arm around your waist to bring you closer to him. And something in your subconscious mind must’ve recognised his touch because you molded yourself against him, leg wrapping around his waist and head resting just under his chin. You mumbled something incoherent under your breath and were out within seconds.
Bruce could only smile. He knew tomorrow morning you might have the worst of headaches, of nauseas, and he would be more than happy to spend his day catering to you, holding back your hair if you puked, and nursing you back to full health. You were the love of his life, and you’d already done so much for him, bringing life and colour back to his once bleak existence, teaching him what true love was like, and turning his house into a home, a safe space he could always return to.
He pressed a kiss on top of your head and squeezed you tighter, whispering four words in the quiet night.
“I’m the lucky one.”

“You’re Batman and that’s wonderful. But I love Bruce Wayne more.”
You look into Bruce’s eyes pleadingly, your hands on his chest. You knew Gotham needed Batman but you needed Bruce and he wasn’t here.
Bruce looked down at you intensely. He didn’t want to lose you but he had to protect you. It was bad enough you knew about Batman. If any one of his enemies found out who he actually was, you would be a target. You were Bruce Wayne’s and Batman’s weakness.
He couldn’t stand to loose you.
Bruce whispered your name, “I need to protect Gotham. My city needs me.”
“I need you Bruce,” you said, eyes filling with small tears. “Tell me you need me too.”
Of course he needed you, Bruce thought. But in order to keep you safe and out of harms way he stayed silent.
You played with his tie slightly and looked down at the ground. A teardrop fell to the ground.
“I can’t lie to you. So I’m not going to say anything at all.” He said, his voice just above a whisper.
You looked up at him, “If you don’t say anything I’m going to walk away.” You said.
Bruce didn’t say anything. He was fighting the urge to pull you to him, hold you close and kiss you. But it wasn’t safe to be around him.
You nodded then and let you of your hands on his chest. “Goodbye Bruce.”
You turned around and walked away. Bruce watched you walk away from him and hoped you would find someone who could give you what you wanted. He wanted to give you those things. But Gotham needed him.

Bruce Wayne had lived a difficult life. Well maybe not as difficult as one would expect. He was a rich playboy with a mansion and had a butler. But losing his parents at a young age took a tole on the man.
You were Bruce’s sunlight, guiding him away from the darkness inside him. Of course, as Batman he made Gotham a better place. But you, you made Bruce Wayne a better person.
You and Bruce had plans tonight. As his day job of being a rich philanthropist and carrying on the Wayne legacy, he must attend and host gala’s for Gotham’s elite.
Tonight was one of those Gala’s. The Williams family made a large donation to fund a homeless shelter in Gotham. This meant, a lot of the homeless population in Gotham would be properly housed instead of living on the street and resulting to crime.
Bruce was never one to like Gala’s. He thought the people whom attended them were ingenuine and cared more about their appearance instead of actually helping the city.
You tried to tell him that at least the money would help. Bruce couldn’t argue with that. You were right. Their money would help Gotham, but their attitude was atrocious.
One night, Bruce had gotten visibly jealous as he caught a man — who used to be one of this father’s close confidants — hitting on you at the open bar.
“And do you know what I said to my fellow soldiers?” The creepy old man asked.
You were not interested in the conversation. He was very clearly flirting with you and it made you uncomfortable. “No, I don’t,” you said, vaguely and uninterested.
Suddenly a warm and comforting hand wrapped around your waist. A familiar kiss pressed against your cheek. You turned and a smile graced your features. Bruce.
“Did you tell them you’re flirting with someone who is old enough to be your daughter?” Bruce said to the old man. “If you will excuse us, we have to talk to Commissioner Gordon.”
As Bruce swept you away, he pinched your side playfully. “Thank you,” you said up to his ear.
“Couldn’t stand the thought of anyone else getting close to you. Especially an old creep like him,” he said.
You liked when Bruce got possessive, although you would let him know that. You wouldn’t be able to live it down.
You were currently getting ready for tonight’s gala, standing infront of your large mirror and putting on your diamond jewelry. It was a present that Bruce had gifted you.
“You look breathtaking,” Bruce said. Think of the devil and he shall appear. He’d leaning against the wall, looking at you in the mirror. You look at him, seeing him in the glass.
“Thank you,” you say softly, a blush covering your cheeks.
Bruce is wearing a fancy suit and a navy blue tie to match the color of your dress. You fix a diamond earring and then turn around to face him. Walking, towards him.
“Your tie is crooked Mr. Wayne,” you smile, fixing his tie.
He hums in response, placing his hands delicately on your waist. “What would I do without you?” Bruce asked softly.
You smile back at him, placing a reassuring kiss on his cheek.
During the gala, Bruce pulled you to him on the dance floor. “Dance with me?” He gently asked.
You nodded in agreement and placed your hand in his. Bruce placed a hand on your waist and connected your other hand. The classical music surrounding the dance floor, enveloped you both completely.
Your head rested on his shoulder and he looked down at you with such content and happiness. “I love you,” Bruce whispered.
Bruce had never shared this information before now. He’d thought it obviously, how could he not love you — be in love with you.
You looked up at him, your beautiful eyes staring back at his. “I love you too Bruce,” you replied.
It was simple and sweet. Bruce and you deserved a quiet night in each others company.
Bruce leaned forward to kiss you. Returning the kiss you moved your arms to wrap around his neck. He pulled you close.
From across the ballroom, a photographer snapped a picture. You two looked like Gotham’s happiest couple. Bruce had found the woman of his dreams and his home.
“You’re my wildest dreams,” Bruce said softly, rubbing his nose against your own. “I’m never letting you go.”
“Good,” you smiled contently.

Bale!Bruce Wayne short drabble because homework is boring.
Okay so Bruce would definitely be the type of person to want to keep you safe. Yes, we can agree on that. But this means his love language would be physical touch. He always has to know you are there. The touch is always completely consensual, he never wants to do anything to make you uncomfortable.
During the night when y’all sleep. His arms are subconsciously wrapped around you protectively. Bruce suffers from nightmares, so you are his safety blanket.
At galas Bruce will have his hand wrapped around your hand, or your waist, or on the small of your Nast. He won’t let anyone get to you. Ever.
You find this sweet and love that he cares so much about you to enable this side of him. Before he met you, he was closed off and guarded. Bruce feels safe with you and would do anything in his power to make you feel safe, special and important.
Okay that was my Ted talk. Requests are always open and I will be publishing some more fics asap. lmk if you want to join the taglist xx
