also the way the current story goes so far I wouldn't be surprised if it ends with Loki becoming some sort of HWR 2.0 and the new leader of the TVA, Mobius leaving the TVA for a life on a timeline and Sylvie leaving her timeline to join Loki and the TVA
if a character says "I don't want to do this, I'm happy here" at the beginning of the season it just reinforces the idea that that same character will eventually, do just that, and be happy about it.
so if Mobius says he doesn't want to know about his past life and he's happy at the TVA I'm going to highly side eye it. especially since he does seem to be happy whenever he's out on a timeline
and if Sylvie says she's happy in Oklahoma and doesn't want to return to the TVA I'm going to side eye that too because we know she joins Loki and the team at the TVA and whether people like it or not, her story doesn't end with her working at that maccies again

i don't want to be that person but all this neat lokius content makes me think something will definitely happen and they will go their separate ways in the end
rule of thumb: nothing good ever lasts
so far there hasn't been any conflict, angst or anything between them. nothing. which always, always means it will end in tears and tragedy or the two subjects part their ways for whatever reasons
sylki shippers are in a better situation right now, because although they're going through their angsty low, it's all just uphill from here
if this was a betting poll, i'd honestly place my bets on loki and mobius separating in the end and loki and sylvie staying together

thanks to my rewatch of Loki I’ve just been reminded how much I’m annoyed by (mostly) fellow Lokius shippers that insist Sylvie is problematic, abusive, toxic, rude to Loki and that she only used Loki for her own gain.
(And that’s coming from a person who also enjoys Lokius and I’m tired of fellow shippers pretending it’s not misogyny when it actually clearly is)
Are we really in any position to claim any of that when Mobius did the exact same if not even worse things to Loki?
Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, Loki was indeed used by him. The sole reason why Loki is alive, the sole reason why Mobius recruited Loki was for his own benefit. He needed to apprehend the variant that posed a threat to the stability of the multiverse and was eliminating their forces. Coming across Loki was a happy accident and in it, he saw the opportunity to finally capture that variant. Sure, he might have been fascinated by Loki’s nature and perhaps even harbored hopes that this partnership might work out for him even better than anticipated, but the main and primary reason why he even recruited him was to use him.
In fact, he explicitly stated in subsequent episodes that if Loki refused to cooperate, he wouldn't hesitate to prune him. He warned Loki that his survival hinged upon his willingness to comply.
He can be ruthless and manipulative to get what he wants and will not hesitate to take any means necessary to reach his goal. Mobius was not reluctant to strike at Loki's most vulnerable areas.
He’s smart enough to identify Loki’s weaknesses, and one of them is his affection for his mother. When he told him Loki killed his mother, while not entirely incorrect since Frigga’s death was an unintentional consequence of Loki’s actions, he aimed to shatter Loki emotionally and provoke a reaction. It's a classic tactic of emotional manipulation designed to coerce Loki into compliance.
He used a similar strategy in episode 4 where he deceived Loki, manipulated him into thinking that Sylvie, someone Mobius suspected Loki had grown close to, had been killed.  Then, he proceeded to taunt Loki, who was visibly distressed by his lies, all in an effort to provoke a response from him.
The finale made it evident that Mobius lacks physical combat skills, rendering him incapable of directly engaging in fights. Therefore, to gain an advantage over Loki, Mobius relies on identifying his vulnerabilities and exploiting them.
He can use the TimeTwister for when Loki misbehaves and controls him like a dog, or, he can throw him in a memory loop cell, subjecting him to both verbal and physical abuse for an indeterminate period, so basically someone else does that job for him.
That action in particular is something I noticed a lot of you tend to ignore. At this point, Mobius and Loki had already formed a camaraderie. It might not have been a full-fledged friendship just yet, but they were clearly on their way to becoming friends. Mobius was hurt that Loki decided to stab him in the back and destroy his trust in him by doing the exact thing he shouldn’t - running off with the Variant, even if that was for a good cause.
For Loki, Mobius risked a great deal: his own job, the friendship and trust of Ravonna, the trust placed in him and even Ravonna by the Time Keepers, and possibly even his own life. He had enough faith in Loki to believe that Loki wouldn't betray him and run off at the first opportunity.  And Loki betrayed that trust when he went after the mysterious Variant.
When Loki and Sylvie were captured by the TVA, it wasn’t jealousy that Loki had feelings for Sylvie that drove him (even though we like to headcanon that, we have to keep in mind Loki and Mobius’ relationship wasn’t written as romantic). Instead, it was his anger and resentment that stemmed from placing so much trust in Loki, only to have him do the very thing Mobius had believed he wouldn't.
Then, despite the fact that there was already some camaraderie between them, and despite the fact that Loki genuinely meant well, Mobius in his anger, completely dismissed the possibility of Loki being honest with him. He outright declared that he no longer needed Loki and, to make matters worse, he threw him into the Time Loop cell where he knew Loki would endure repeated instances of physical assault.
I know that some of you like to argue, “oh, well at least he didn’t choose a worse memory! He clearly cares about him then!” but honestly, that’s just very questionable and just....uh?
The reason Mobius selected that memory was because he knew Lady Sif would inflict repeated physical pain upon Loki and because of what Lady Sif says to him during that loop. She hurls insults at him, calling him a "conniving, craven, pathetic worm" and that he deserves to be alone for the rest of eternity.
Mobius made the conscious decision to throw Loki into the Time Loop cell, despite the budding friendship between them, despite the budding trust, despite everything that happened and was perfectly fine with that.
It wasn't because Mobius was manipulated by the TVA or forced to do this; he did it of his own accord. He chose to punish Loki and because he wanted to use him, break him to extract info out of him. Because he refused to believe Loki’s words.
I’m shocked that so many of you overlook that and pretend it didn’t happen, because as much as I love Mobius and their dynamic, what Mobius did in that particular episode alone was more severe than anything Sylvie did to Loki throughout the entire season.
In the span of a few minutes, Mobius:
insulted Loki, called him an asshole, bad friend and compared him to a cockroach
mocked his feelings to provoke him
lied to him that someone Loki cared about had been killed, manipulating his emotions for a reaction
despite Loki’s genuine intentions, he refused to listen to him
he bluntly stated that Loki was no longer of any use to him
he threw Loki into a place where he would endure physical, verbal, and emotional abuse, intentionally subjecting him to suffering
through his actions, Mobius reinforced the idea that Loki deserves to be alone, (just as Loki was in the process of forming actual, meaningful relationships with at least two people; Mobius and Sylvie, Mobius goes and punishes Loki by reminding him he deserves to be alone)
and despite all of that, he still expected Loki to provide him with information, meaning he did all of that because he still intended to use him for his own benefit
Eventually, Mobius did go on a bit of a personal investigation and discovered that Loki had been telling the truth. However, by the time he discovered the truth, the damage had already been done, and Loki had already been hurt.
In short, he made a conscious decision to hurt Loki in every way imaginable to get what he wanted.
The series showed that Mobius was aware that there was a possibility that Loki might be telling the truth. However, his anger, stubbornness and unwavering certainty in his own righteousness blinded him from considering the possibility that Loki could be right.
Again, I like Mobius very much and I like Lokius as well, but jesus christ guys, some of you need to take a step back from solely blaming Sylvie as the worst person ever when Mobius did the exact same things. If not even worse, because unlike Mobius, Sylvie at least never manipulated Loki into thinking his feelings were invalid, never claimed that his mother had died because of him, never tricked him into believing that someone he cared about had been murdered.
Sylvie never subjected Loki to a memory loop filled with continuous verbal insults reminding him that he is oh, just the worst and that he deserves the life of loneliness for the rest of eternity, all the while he also suffered physical pain.
You’re free to have personal preferences and to dislike a ship or a character, but for the love of Lord stop claiming Sylvie is abusive and toxic and what not, when our own ship is just as flawed if not even more flawed.
Sylvie did this, she did that, but where’s that same vitriol for Mobius? Why are you only coming after the woman? They both did bad shit that hurt Loki, but some of you only see Sylvie’s actions and pretend Mobius was nothing but supportive of Loki the entire time, which is wrong and disgusting. No, Mobius and Lokius is not better than Sylvie and Sylki and it’s time for some of you to accept that.
I like Mobius and I like Lokius but I’m tired of being called a misogynist because of some of you who cannot accept the fact that Mobius has committed and inflicted just as many (if not more) morally questionable things as Sylvie.
And the worst thing is that those who call this misogyny are actually right.
Mobius is a good, compelling character and will likely prove to be a good friend to Loki in Season 2, but he’s not innocent either. He can be manipulative. He can be horrible. He can be brutal to get what he wants. Yes, even to Loki.
Even Loki acknowledged that, so why can’t you?

rewatched Loki and Mobius has such peak dad energy with Loki and Sylvie
“I ought to box your ears.” aka an old-fashioned threat, a popular form of punishment by parents for their misbehaving children.
“You should be careful just jumping into a stranger's car like that.” Mobius displaying concerned dad energy when Sylvie jumps into his car without second thoughts
“You’re my favorite.” Says as he’s hugging Loki, but is actually talking to Sylvie, making them both feel equally appreciated, something a good father would do if he has two or more children and wants them to know they’re both equally loved.

EXCLUSIVE: Following a first season that saw strong reviews and record viewing numbers, Marvel is now getting the wheels in motion for the second season of Loki as Deadline is hearing Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have come on to co-direct a majority of the episodes for the upcoming season two with Tom Hiddleston returning in the role of Loki. Hiddleston and Michael Waldron, who wrote and served as show runner of season 1, will exec produce with Eric Martin penning all six episodes.
While plot details are being kept under wraps for now, the news is significant as it marks the first show in the Marvel series lineup to get a second season as every other showed that premiered in 2021 ran as a limited series. Marvel announced the second season would be on its way in the end credits of the season finale. As for returning cast, as of now Hiddleston is the only one set to return for this season.
As for Benson and Moorhead, the directing duo have become go-to directors when it comes to high-priority event series having previously worked on such tentpole series as The Twilight Zone and Archive 81. Marvel was so impressed with their early work, they set brought them on to direct a couple episodes of their Moon Knight series that bows next month and stars Oscar Isaac. Sources close to that production say the shoot went so smoothly, that Marvel was already looking over projects they wanted to put Benson and Moorhead on immediately and Loki season 2 quickly jumped to the top of that list.
They are repped by CAA and Ziffren Brittenham.

sometimes I feel like Tom actually ships Lokius in a romantic way, but then I remember he said their relationship is fatherly and avuncular (aka, Mobius’ like an uncle to Loki) and I’m like - I think we as a fandom deeply misinterpreted their relationship

ALL OF THIS
How does the Sacred Timeline and Multiverse even work in Loki?
It’s extremely easy actually! You just have to pay attention to Miss Minutes’ cartoon from episode 1 and He Who Remains’ speech in episode 6.
The Sacred Timeline isn’t just one universe. It consists of numerous separate, unique universes/realities/timelines (they use that interchangeably, but as shown in Ep.1 & Ep.6 it’s ultimately the same thing) that are all roped, woven into one stream of time, manipulated to follow the same path. That path is called The Sacred Timeline.
The meaning of The Sacred Timeline and what it actually represents is both visually as well as verbally explained in Episode 1 and 6.
Tumblr media
“Eons ago, before the TVA, a variant of myself lived on Earth in the 31st century. He was a scientist and he discovered that there were universes stacked on top of his own.”
He Who Remains starts by explaining how one of his variants (a Kang variant) found out about the multiverse, how there were other universes stacked on top of his own.
His variants were then able to made contact, interact and for a while everything was OK.
“They shared technology and knowledge. Using the best of their universes to improve the others.”
However, that peace didn’t last. Variants started conquering other universes.
“The peace between realities…erupted into all-out war, each variant fighting to preserve their universe and annihilate the others. This was almost the end…ladies and gentlemen, of everything and everyone.”
Which brings us to Miss Minutes’ video. It’s not just propaganda, there’s lots of truth in there regarding the creation of The Sacred Timeline. Except that the Time Keepers are basically just a stand in for He Who Remains.
Tumblr media
“Long ago, there was a vast multiversal war. Countless unique timelines battled each other for supremacy, nearly resulting in the total destruction of…well, everything.”
Miss Minutes’ video basically echoes everything said by He Who Remains.
Again, universes = realities = timelines. It’s used interchangeably.
To put it simply, the most important part of the video is the very beginning of the cartoon. We see these different, unique timelines/universes (they even pointed out their differences with different colors) all being roped into one singular stream.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Sacred Timeline isn’t just one timeline/universe, but it comprises of an infinity number of unique universes.
“But then, the all-knowing Time-Keepers emerged, bringing peace by reorganizing the multiverse into a single timeline, the Sacred Timeline. Now, the Time-Keepers protect and preserve the proper flow of time for everyone and everything.”
The Time Keepers are basically He Who Remains himself in this case. He explains to Loki and Sylvie in episode 6, that in order to stop the war and preserve peace, he weaponized Alioth, created The Sacred Timeline and once he did that, all he had to do was manage the same flow of time.
“I weaponized Alioth and I ended… I ended the Multiversal War. Once I isolated our timeline, all I had to do was manage the flow of time and prevent any further branches.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, The Sacred Timeline is just a path. It’s a rope, full of different threads (universes).
Each universe is different, people, beings are different, the world is different, they are all unique in their own way. But once He Who Remains created The Sacred Timeline, they all started following the same flow of time, a path predetermined by He Who Remains.
That’s how we have different Lokis. Our Loki. Sylvie. Boastful Loki. Gator Loki. Bandit Lokis…..they’re all unique beings, they’re not the same person, they share no biological relation, their parents, families are different, their worlds are different, literally everything about them is different.
The only thing they share is the same role. The role of a Loki. That’s it.
And that role should end with death at Thanos’ hands. This is their predetermined path.
For example, and this is a bit of a spoiler for No Way Home I suppose….
in No Way Home we’re gonna get three different Peter Parkers. One played by Tom Holland, one by Andrew Garfield and one by Toby Maguire. They will all play variants of each other. They’re all Peter Parkers, they all have Aunt Mays, Uncle Bens, families etc….but ultimately none of them are the same. They’re all different in their own way. They look different, their aunts are different, their uncles are different, their families are different etc….basically they share no genetic relation to each other. Absolutely none. They all hail from different universes, they all play the same role in their universes, but they aren’t biologically related to each other.
That’s why the TVA uses Temporal Aura to detect variants. Because being a variant isn’t about being the same person and sharing the same DNA. It’s all about the role and if you want to be more poetic, a soul. But that’s it.
Loki, Sylvie, Boastful Loki, Alligator Loki, Bandit Lokis…absolutely none of them are related to each other in any shape or form.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He Who Remains made sure that all universes, all different, unique beings who live in those unique universes will move in the same direction. To preserve some resemblance of order and prevent another war started by Kang variants.
It doesn’t matter how different everything between universes is. It doesn’t matter if in one universe Loki resembles a human being and in another he’s an Alligator. As long as they follow the same path chosen by He Who Remains.
Tumblr media
And when something happens and timelines split from The Sacred Timeline, these branches could be created from numerous universes. Because again, The Sacred Timeline isn’t just one universe, it’s made of infinite number of different universes (yes I intentionally keep repeating myself)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And these branches from different universes can and could further branch off into infinite number of timeline branches and/or eventually clash with each other thus creating another war led by Kang Variants. That’s basically where the TVA comes in with their pruning. To stop branching, prevent Kang Variants to run free and start a new war.
Tumblr media
When Sylvie stabbed He Who Remains she didn’t create the multiverse. She merely freed it, allowing the unique universes to create their own path. The Sacred Timeline, which is basically just a path, no longer exists at this point. Sylvie gave each universe freedom.
Tumblr media
Ultimately this will lead to another Multiversal War, but for the time being each universe, each being has freedom to take the path not predetermined by He Who Remains.
TLDR:
1. The Sacred Timeline isn’t just one universe/reality/timeline. It’s a just a path and it consists of numerous different unique universes that all simply just follow the same flow of time.
2.The multiverse always existed but was manipulated to follow the same flow of time. Sylvie merely freed the multiverse, she didn’t create it.
3. Each universe is different, unique in their own way. People are different, their worlds are different. That’s how we get such different variants.
4. Variants aren’t the same being. They’re all their own person, unique in their own way, they have different DNA, different parents, different families, different worlds,…the only thing they ‘do’ share is the same essence, soul, a role they play in their respective universe.
5. If you want to read more about how the multiverse works, here’s the interview where Michael Waldron explains it nicely
I hope this explains it nicely. Literally everything you need to know about how the Multiverse/The Sacred Timeline works is in the show. And yet people stil think there was no multiverse before Sylvie stabbed HWR, that the Sacred Timeline is just one universe and that multiverse is created from that one universe…which is all just…no
