WAIT WAIT THIS REMINDS ME OF MY LEVEL LIFE AU!!

So like,, maybe a month ago I made an AU that was kinda similar to Last Life but instead of 2-6 lives it's 3-7 lives. Uhh I don't have a winner for it yet since I was gonna be deciding things based on random picker wheels and haven't gotten to that yet but BASICALLY,,

There are seven levels to the world, stacked on top of each other, the topmost levels being the safest with the lower levels being the most dangerous.

There's different resources on each level, which is mainly what would drive people to go higher or lower.

The main thing is, though, is that they can't venture far from their own levels without risking a life. Someone with six lives can go down one level, but two levels is pushing it, and three levels down would allow three lifers to attack a six lifer.

Same with a three lifer going up, or any other lifers with respective levels.

I still don't have a lot for it but once livers reach their second and last lives, they can go up and down as they please without being bothered much, since reds are fully hostile and yellows get a taste of red fever, like an itching that's there but hasn't quite bloomed yet.

Anyways yeah I wanted to yap :D

I had a dream about the next gimmick of the life series. it didn't have a name, Grian's voice became jumbled when he would say it, but if I had to name it I'd call it Ladder Life or some joke about the climb of life.

it started in a super flat world, no structures, and in the center was this giant structure that went up so high you couldn't see the top.

it was made of layers, very huge squares, the bottom being the largest.

the gimmick was all of the resources you would need would be on different layers, and you had to find a way up. you could tower up a side, break through the next layer, etc.

but, every so often these layers would get smaller, and smaller, until the tippy top at build height which was only a few blocks wide. some of these layers, as you got higher, may also have obstacles right like ice or falling blocks.

the life system still worked the same.

however, depending on the stage of your life, you'd be allowed to do different things

greens could climb up and down between levels as much as they wanted, though at a certain point up there was a barrier that, if a green tried to cross it'd knock them back, possibly far enough for them to fall all the way down

yellows have pretty much unlimited movement up and down, with no limits except for like the top 10 layers or so.

reds would respawn at the green-yellow barrier and reds can ONLY climb up, or fall down an edge and clutch in some way, then they can go back up. they can also access those top layers.

tango had built a player launcher to skip layers up, and some people tried to cheat the system. others would just climb up the ladders and try to play it safe. some tried to own whole layers and charge people to pass.

the final battle was between two reds, Joel and Martyn on the tippy top layer. Martyn knocks Joel off and thinks he's won, but the death message never comes. Instead Joel got the Caves and Cliffs achievement, and he water clutched at the bottom.

Martyn has a choice, to follow or wait. Martyn decided to fall a few layers, and a few more. He has no idea where Joel is or what layer he's on, so he peers over edges looking, ready to take another leap down when suddenly he's smacked off, and with little preparation he falls, and a death message is in chat.

Joel whoops and hollars and starts celebrating, not noticing the layers below him quickly disappearing, until the ground is swept below his feet and he falls.

Rachie Crown back at it again with more magical girls

Anyways we have Magical Scott and Familiar Cleo, who is a snake, then Magical Lizzie and Familiar Joel, a Tanuki (however he still has his silly little antennae)

I definitely wanted Scott to represent that starry feel, his outfit is mostly inspired off of falling stars. Also yayy :D big hair :D

I'm thinking Cleo, while in familiar form, likes to curl around Scott's neck and hang out there. Was thinking about her being a ring-necked snake, specifically the one with the orange and greenish black on them.

Lizzie definitely has the more Japanese magical girl feel I think. I was going to do some extra detail but decided against it and just went with frills and bows. Also yeah she gets calico ears and a tail for her transformation!!

I feel like Tanuki Joel fit with the Japanese vibe he was doing this season, also since I'm seeing other people draw him as a tanuki hybrid lol,, also his little antennae make me think of a space alien

Some Magical Familiars designs!!

I did Tango with Jimmy and Grian with Scar!

Familiar Jimmy is a canary and Familiar Scar is a Jellie cat, I'm not really great with drawing animals though lol

Tango's hair moves like fire when in his Magical form, but when he's a normal human his hair is just blonde, meanwhile Grian's features don't actually change that much aside from clothing and wings

I tried to make Tango's outfit more fiery and exciting while also having feathery bits to represent his and Jimmy's bond (the bonds are now being called Magi-lar Bonds!!)

Grian gained his powers before meeting Scar, so aside from an additional bit of spikiness to the outfit to represent vex wings (since it's clear enough that cat Scar has vex wings-) his outfit is mainly just custom to his own self. The feathers are kinda spiky and rotted-ish to represent his ill intent

I'll do human designs of all four soon, probably just busts so I can move on to the next designs, which I'm thinking will be Scott, Cleo, Martyn, and Ren

This is gonna be a long-ish post!!

Okay okay okay so,, as I said before, metropolitan setting, big city, yada yada,

Here's what they fight first!!

In the Etho drawing, in the bottom right corner, BDubs is yelling about fighting monsters... The monsters are kinda like, big, almost shadowy kinda blobby things. Idk how to describe it so I did a really lazy drawing

(ik it's bad don't come at me ty)

So like these things are called Grief Monsters, they're formed from large concentrations of negative emotion in one area. They can range anywhere from the size of a large person to a small building. Bigger ones are super rare tho.

In order to defeat one, a Magical will have to use an attack which usually draws from positive energy. Depending on how determined they are, they can usually beat the monster in one blow, but it will probably take a little bit of time to charge up after transforming.

Most people can't usually see the monster. It will continue to feast on negativity and grow, then eventually bring the energy back to some sort of realm of darkness. Either Familiars, Magicals or people with potential to become Magicals can see them.

In order to become a magical girl, or just Magical, in this AU, (idk I was saying magical girl just to be silly lol but officially in the AU they're called Magicals), something called a Familiar will have to form a bond with them.

Familiars have a special magic that allows both them and their Magical to gain a second form, being a human form for the Familiar and a magical girl(?) form for the Magical.

Usually the magic potential is stronger if the Familiar and Magical's energies align, which I based off of Double Life soul bonds!

This leads up to Etho and BDubs creating their bond! Etho really just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time during a Grief Monster's harvest, (which I need to mention, Grief Monsters will try to eat unbound Familiars) and ended up having to protect a very loud and stressed strange little moss creature.. being BDubs.

BDubs kinda pushed the bond onto Etho, since Etho had Magical potential and the two of them were in a stressful situation, but turns out, whoopsie! Their energies didn't really align correctly! Turns out BDubs got the wrong guy!

Regardless, BDubs gets his human form and protection from the monster while Etho gets his Magical form, some powers, and a pretty dress.

Because of how the energies pair based on Double Life, BDubs should've aimed for Impulse.. Etho would've eventually gotten Joel as a Familiar if things happened differently. (BDubs and Joel will argue about this later with a very confused Etho in the background... Cut to Impulse out and about living his best life)

Here's some other duos I've made in the AU!

Jimmy and Tango - These two have been around for a little while! Tango's the Magical while Jimmy's the familiar, and they're kinda the laughing stocks of the magical community due to how bad they actually are at fighting monsters.

Martyn and Ren - Martyn's the Magical and Ren's the Familiar. These two have been around a little longer than Timmy and Tango. Martyn was once paired with another Familiar, but she left after their bond failed.

Scott and Cleo - Scott's been around a little longer than Cleo, but they created a magic bond a few days after meeting. Scott's the Magical while Cleo's the Familiar.

Joel and Lizzie - Magical Lizzie and Familiar Joel! These two came after Etho and BDubs, since Joel was pushed away by BDubs being territorial, so he kinda just ended up sticking with the pink haired girl who seems to be perpetually confused

Scar and Grian - Magical Grian and Familiar Scar didn't make a bond until really really late. Grian was on the scene for a long time before meeting Scar, and their bond formed maybe a day or two before BDubs and Etho meet. These two are the main villains of the AU. Teehee

Magical girl Etho? How did you come up with this amazing idea?

In the past I've made silly little AUs of other franchises I've been in where the main character and their friends are magical... Uh, people, and after finally finishing a magical girl anime I was watching last year, I just had a really dumb idea last week and yeah lol

Turns out my brain likes it a lot cause I've been world building on it and yapping about it to my friends, it's set in the classic metropolitan magical girl setting and each magical gets one of those weird little creature things that bestow them their powers, which is BDubs in Etho's case

Thought I'd make a lil comic for two special boys in @stonegoesgodmode and I's Feather's Embers AU :D

I freehanded this thing don't flip the canvas please Some Story and design notes under the cut!

The concept basically involves Jimmy/Ageth making his friends forget who Ageth is, because he never wanted any of them to know he was working as a vigilante in the first place, yet they all found out in some way shape or form.

Jimmy's ability in this AU lets him make potions! That's why he's witch themed! For example, if he intends to make a healing potion while mixing two liquids (the liquids can be completely random), he will end up with a healing potion of a reddish liquid. (Jimmy, of course, does not realize his intent makes potions.. He thinks there's recipes to them.)

Tango/Api Biru, meanwhile, his power is Hellflame. He's a bit stronger than other blazes like him (actually, a lot stronger), and yeah, Blazeborns are catlike and have paws and tails.. which aren't pictured. (I totally didn't forget to draw the tail, nooo..)

Anyways, Tango can kinda sense something's up. Characters in the AU that aren't fully human all have some sort of instincts, and they can kinda sense when someone they consider a friend is around (ex; Avians with their Flock, Vex with their Chaos, Werewolves with their Pack, Blazes with their Inferno), Blazes don't have a strong sense of this, but Tango thinks this vigilante that just showed up out of nowhere is a bit too familiar..

Also most hybrids, can hide their hybrid features. Wings, as an example, can be folded in and kinda fused into their back in the form of mini tattoos.
