oh my GOD are you kidding me??

putting this on my main because EVERYONE GO SEE THIS MV RIGHT NOW. IT. IS. STUNNING.

this is beyond words. absolute perfection. like to a tee.

song is fitting like it was was written for this, the editing, the story, chef’s kiss. oh my god. the way Saw says they could use a Jedi and Cal replies “I’m sorry, I’m all you’ve got”? the way Trilla says “That won’t change anything”, as if no matter how hard Cal tries he’ll never be able to truly push the Dark Side away, to break free from the Empire’s chokehold? the way Ninth Sister says “I expect better from YOU” with such an emphasis, like she knows very damn well what Cal is capable of because they’ve fought side by side for so long? that’s one of my favorite moments of this mv. it’s the way all those tiny details are read in a completely new way now that the story is reversed. and there’s so much more meaning to the underlying uncertainty in dialogues, now that Cal’s not someone everyone would necessarily want to accept as an ally right off the bat, they’re more cautious, and then eventual trust feels so much more earned.

besides, i can’t ignore the way Cal’s fighting style perfectly fits his Inquisitor role :D like yeah, he really does put on a show.

but my absolute favorite moment is probably the transition at 0:55. everything synchronizes so perfectly here: Cal’s unanswered question, song’s chorus hitting in, the rhythm of fighting sequences, wide shots, the raw emotion in every second. i was stunned. i am stunned now.

and the final fight, of course, i HAVE to mention it. it’s FIRE. my heart does some inexplicable things at 2:39 shot. He slept like a slave, and woke up a rebel.

and that little smile Trilla has when she calls Cal a Jedi for the first time? sure i may be delusional, but i read it as a sign of respect, in a way. and Cal then gets a little hopeful, that maybe, just maybe, there’s a speck of light in Trilla that can grow into its own rebellion if given a chance? that’s what promts him to ask her to join him. but she doesn’t believe they’re powerful enough to even try. she thinks she’s not. but Cal is.

in case someone missed it, yeah. i really really liked this :D @animatedjen i’m applauding passionately, thank you for putting so much effort into your work, it’s incredible 👏👏👏

This is more of a feeling I got rather then accurate depiction, i’d say. There's certainly a fair share of artistic choices here :D Hope I was able to capture some of what you put in this lovely story! 🤍
