CHAPTER 6
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steve struggled to keep pace with Natasha without running.
“Natasha, can you slow down?”
“No.”
“Nat, I know what happened was horrendous, but it wasn’t your fault.”
“Yes, Steve, yes it was, don’t you understand? If I hadn’t shown up she would still be alive.”
Steve thought back to the scene in the lobby less than two minutes ago. It was a mess. Maria’s body was slumped against the counter top, the gun hadn’t even been touched. There was a spray of blood against the faded yellow wallpaper. Her body, riddled with bullet holes-
“She didn’t even have time to react, but why was she the only one in the room? Why did I not see anyone enter the building? Who else was in the building at the time? Wait, Steve I have an idea. Go back to the hotel.”
Steve was trying to process all the information. It was clear to him that Maria had been one of the few that was kind to Natasha years ago. A different life. A few years ago he was still frozen, Natasha had been the most feared assassin.
Once they came back to the hotel Natasha ducked behind the counter where she had carried Maria to a back room, no one used. For what Steve had no idea. She heaved a large book with yellowing pages onto the counter. Upon closer inspection Steve realized that it was a ledger of all the guests that had stayed, for the last two years.
Natasha went to the most recent pages where the last person entered was an ‘Alex Svoboda’ Natasha and Steve racked their brains for any news story involving that name. Natasha glanced at Steve.
“This hotel is a safe house. This hotel is where I am still Natalia Alianova Romanova. Criminals come here without fake names. Police don’t sniff up this far.”
“Jesus Nat, I can’t think of any Alex-“
Natasha tackled Steve, effectively shutting him up.
“Don’t say that name.” She said quietly. “You’ll get yourself killed.”
Steve nodded.
“We’ll go to the computer café,” she decided “I think I have some catching up to do.”
The pair made their way down the alley, the man from earlier was still knocked unconscious. Nat sighed, checking his pulse she realized she’d knocked him into a coma.
“That’s him taken care of, for now.”
Steve couldn’t help the shiver that crept down his spine. This Natasha was brutal, this was her before Clint brought her to SHIELD. She hadn’t been Natasha then: Natalia, notorious, undefeated. A place where women would seem to be in danger. All women here were strong in a way. Mental or physical. A place where Bucky was in danger. This obviously wasn’t the Prague Sam and Bucky lived. A place where Sam was in danger. The hotel doors opened. A place where Steve was in danger. Natasha vaulted over the counter flinging the ledger at the largest of the three women that entered the building. She threw Steve to the counter where he promptly hid behind it. He hated himself for feeling so weak.
Peeking over the counter he saw the largest of the three clutching her head. The two others had drawn gun, which Nat promptly threw out of their hands. Natalia had two guns in her hands aimed at the women. Her finger was curled around the trigger. The large woman was on the ground clutching something else in her hand. Her own poison. If she pressed that button, they’d be dead in seconds. Natalia was aware of the bomb. The guns were shot and simultaneously her leg swiped out catching the woman off guard. The bomb fell out of her hand and Natasha shot her as well. Catching the bomb in her hand she turned to Steve and made a movement. Steve understood that. The shield. Natasha had stashed it under the countertop. Steve flung it at her. She pulled the pin and covered the bomb with the shield. Sliding it under an airtight container and closing it, green tendrils of smoke curled against the jar. Natasha turned to Steve who was staring at the three bodies slumped on the floor. He had been worrying about Nat all the plane trip, barely able to sleep. He was certain the baddies would be large males. Who knew women ruled the underground? Natasha hoisted the largest woman over her shoulders.
“Open that door, Steve and grab the two others. There’s a river throw the bodies in.”
The captain turned pale. This was Natalia. He was terrified, no, no he wasn’t, there was a reason Fury had put her into the Avengers. This was it. He respected that. Natasha was stronger mentally and physically than the other Avengers. He admired her more than ever. Outside, the putrid smell of the canal was choking, chucking the bodies in they coughed at the stench. Inside Steve raised his eyebrows.
“Are we ever going to make it to the café?”
Natasha grinned.
“Things like that tend to be put on hold when people are trying to murder you.”
“You are brilliant at protecting me.”
“Someone’s got to do it. We better get to the café.”
They went down the alley keeping a careful eye out for both each other and murderous people. Upon reaching the café, Steve realized he was the only person here that had never been to Prague previously. Twisting the door knob they were greeted with rows of computers and a loud air conditioner. Going over to a corner Natasha typed poslední zprávy into the search engine. The results reported a massive crime wave taking over the city and how the government was doing nothing to stop it. Several stories were central to the mafia. Natasha decided to dig a little deeper. Steve was impressed at how quickly she managed to hack into the Mafia’s files revealing a list of thugs.
“Keep an eye out for the name.” Natasha whispered.
“There, look.” Steve responded. Natasha clicked onto the name, revealing his file.
Several minutes later, Natasha came to the part that declared him
Zemřel
“Well, there goes that lead.” Natasha said. Two figures came up behind them. Something glinted in the light, metal.
“Find anything?” Bucky asked and Steve and Natasha brought them up to date.
“This side of the city is full of fucking Yael’s.” Bucky exclaimed.
“Shush, you idiot.” Sam hushed him.
“How did the neighbourhood scouting go?” Steve asked them.
“We are surrounded by criminals.” Sam replied.
“I could have told you that.” Natasha cut in. “Will we go back and get dinner?”
“Great idea.” Sam answered.
The four made their way to a Chinese restaurant, where Bucky and Sam’s cover became obvious. The pair who were grumbling about having to hold hands. Steve couldn’t help the laugh that escaped and for Natasha the same.
“Fury told our neighbours that a gay couple was moving into the apartment, so we had to go with that.” Steve bit his lip. Natasha let out a loud laugh in the empty street.
“Here we are anyway.” Bucky gestured to a sign saying: CHINESE OPEN ALL NIGHT.
They went inside and were greeted by a woman who led them upstairs to a cosy corner. Steve and Natasha sat on the inside while Bucky and Sam sat on the outside. They ordered their food and once they waitress went away they began to confer their next move.
“I may have killed some potential leads.” Natasha admitted.
“We may have found one.” Sam replied.
“Natasha, you’re fucking dangerous, thank God you’re on our side.” Bucky said at the same time.
Natasha and Steve laughed. “Who did you find?”
Just then the waitress came back with their food, steaming. The four thanked her. She set down the food and left. There appeared to be something on the underside of Steve’s plate: a voice recorder.
Natasha detached it and excused herself to the bathroom. Seeing a handbag on the sink she placed it inside that and made her way back to the table where the three men were wolfing down their food.
Natasha still finished before them.
“Anyway, Sam, who’s your lead.” She asked while they stared at Natasha’s empty plate.
“Am, Alzbeta Dvorbak.” He responded.
“She owns the supermarket down the block from our hotel.” Bucky added.
Steve and Natasha nodded thoughtfully for a moment.
“That’s what we’ll do tomorrow then. We’ve done enough in one night.” Natasha decided.
The others nodded.
Sam and Bucky made excuses to go to the toilet and the waitress came back to retrieve the dishes.
“Dezert?” She asked.
“Ne, díky.” Steve responded.
She nodded and left. Natasha looked at Steve.
“I didn’t know you spoke Czech.”
“I don’t. That’s all the Czech I know.” He laughed.
“Nat, how do you do it? All this, noticing things no one else would. Saving my butt.”
“I was trained to.”
“Well, thank God for that.”
“It does come in helpful, doesn’t it?”
“Yeah, I need to save you from some explosion or something now, can’t have you hogging the glory.” Natasha laughed. Steve loved that laugh. Natasha looked at his smile. She loved that smile. Sam and Bucky came back holding green tablets and a note.
“Cyanide tablets, for our esteemed guests, AD” Bucky read out.
“Found outside the kitchen door. The esteemed guests could have been anyone.” Sam explained.
“Well that cements tomorrow’s plans.” Steve spoke up. “We work together tomorrow, no splitting up.”
Natasha had sat back deep in thought. “I have an idea.”
The three others glanced at each other.
“Continue?” Bucky questioned.
“If I could the strawberry delight with sweet coffee I would be very happy.” She stated.
“How are you thinking about your stomach at a time like this?” Sam sighed.
Bucky elbowed him in the ribs.
“Owww, ohhhhh.” Sam exclaimed in realization. Nat shook her head.
“I think we’re done here. Let’s go back to the hotel.”
Steve nodded. “I’ll pay.”
“We’re splitting the bill.” Natasha and Bucky said simultaneously.
“But I’m broke.” Sam whined.
“I’ll pay for myself and Sam.” Steve said shaking his head.
“Yeah, here‘s my part.” Natasha handed him the money. Bucky did the same.
Once they had paid, Bucky and Sam resumed their cover and Steve and Natasha discussed what would happen the next day.
“Nat, this isn’t what I think it is.” Steve referring to Prague.
“Just because evil has a face, doesn’t mean it’s a mask.” She answered.
They walked in silence for a few minutes until they got to the alleyway. The man was still slumped.
“Is he dead?” Bucky inquired.
“NO.” Natasha declared. “Oh shit that was loud.”
Steve chuckled under his breath. Th four made it to the hotel without being ambushed. They had kept their guard up through the walk there. A new woman was behind the counter. A feral smile entered Natasha’s – Natalia’s face.
“Kellie! Мария ушла и не вернется. Будьте осторожны, или вы будете рядом.”
Kellie’s eyes widened
“Это был ты” Not a request.
“Почему, черт возьми, я убью одного человека, который проявил уважение ко мне?”
“Наталья, я многое видел, и внезапный отъезд Марии был неожиданностью.”
“Ты услышишь меня, Келли, Мария ушла, и ты можешь быть следующей. Итак, убирайся отсюда.”
“Я обидел в этой жизни Наталию, я этого не забуду.”
The women nodded at each other. \Kellie stood up and left. Through the front door. She didn’t come back.
Bucky whistled. “That was one of the most terrifying conversations I have ever heard.”
Steve and Sam couldn’t understand it obviously and had moved to the room where Maria was lying on the table. The four obviously couldn’t do anything fancy. None of them were very religious and so did what they had to and left. Maria was gone. They went up to their rooms and entered their respective ones.
Steve and Natasha sat on the bed. “Steve, I don’t know if I’m strong enough.”
“Natasha, you truly are the strongest person I know. I – I am extremely fond of you.”
“Fond?”
“Don’t people say that anymore?”
“When?”
“When they want to kiss someone.”

Thank you
I would just like to point out, this blog SUPPORTS THE LGBTQA+ community. I ship Steve and Natasha just because I find their chemistry really intense and I fell in love with the concept when I first watched Avengers. However, just because I like that concept does NOT mean that I am homophobic, I genuinely like the idea of Stony and Stucky but I cannot help but ship Romanogers. I respect the multiple ships between the Marvel Universe and just want everyone to get along instead of tearing each other down. (Except for hulktasha. What the actual fuck was that?)
Also, if you are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, islamophobic, etc. I have no respect or patience for you. Please make use of the unfollow button. I am not willing to change my morals for the sake of a few followers.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: One scene in this is quite graphic so watch out for that.
CHAPTER 1 CHAPTER 2  CHAPTER 3  CHAPTER 4 CHAPTER 5
*************************************************************
Steve covered himself and Natasha with his shield. Sam and Bucking were crouching under Sam’s wings. Which he had conjured out of nowhere, helpful. Bucky was shouting an impressive string of curses in Romanian. Natasha shouted some back at him. Bucky and Sam then stood up and Bucky ran to the ditch firing at the motorcycle retreating down the road. He got a steady hit on the wheel, sending the motorcycle to go over into the ditch. Steve and Natasha looked at the car which was a burning shell.
“Well, there goes our packing.” Steve observed.
In response Natasha help up a gear bag.
“Not yet.”
Steve smiled at Natasha. She returned the smile.
“You always think of everything.”
“You’re not too bad yourself.”
Sam and Bucky called back at them.
“Come on! I think they’re dead! Tasha can you check!”
The soldier and assassin made their way to the motorcycle where the pair had been. Momentum had caused them to end up in the ditch. Natasha went over and checked for pulses.
“Nothing, they’re dead as dead can be. Check the bike, there might be something.”
Steve started rooting through the bike, retrieving a thick wad of cash and a letter. Bucky jogged over to Steve and Sam helped Natasha get a phone and wallet out of the pockets.
“Get anything?” Bucky asked.
“Cash and a letter.”
“Keep the letter, we’ll check it out at the hotel. Leave the cash.”
“Good idea. How’s Sam and you been in Europe?”
“Scheming little bitch, that Sam. We have a flat rented out courtesy of SHIELD. I work as a gym instructor, which happened by accident and Sam has a female only hairdressers. I have to give him nightly Czech lessons. It’s good to gather Intel.”
“How does one become a gym instructor by accident?” Steve laughed
“Well, I went there every day and couldn’t get work anywhere else. Apparently metal arms are scary to kindergarten kids, so I couldn’t work in a shop or kindergarten. They are scared like hell, kids don’t find anything scary it’s the fucking parents. But anyway, I was at the gym one night and this lady instructor called Yale comes up to me and says in a freaking Israeli accent, ‘don’t you have a job anywhere? All you do is work out here.’ So I tell her my Tragic Story™ and she offers me a job, cause she owns the place. Sam and I had to wrangle with both our bosses for two weeks off, apparently our dear best friend since kidhood is terribly ill and may die soon. Yale told me to suck it up and keep working, people die all the time. The bird idiot hears marches in and shouts at her ‘HEY LADY OUR BFF IS DYING SOON GIVE HIM SOME FUCKING TIME OFF YOU BITCH’ The best part is that she doesn’t even flinch. She tells him if one of us can beat her in a spar she’ll give me the time off. Bighead over there goes first and she wipes the fucking floor with him. I go in next and I hate to admit I had to resort to using my left arm to beat the strong bitch.”
“Language, Bucky.” Steve said wiping away tears of laughter.
Sam, apparently, told Nat his side of this story and she was shaking with laughter when they went over to join Bucky and Steve.
“We found cash, passports and phones.”
Bucky stepped in.
“Leave the cash and passport, bring the phone.”
“Alright.”
“We better start walking, it’s a long way to the hotel.” Sam chimed in. The three other looked at him and nodded. Sam and Steve walked together talking, Bucky stayed back to talk to Natasha.
“How is it? Life there?” Natasha asked him.
“Peaceful, if you don’t count bird boy over there. If you do; fucking stressful.”
“The hotel is the reediest, cheapest, dirtiest shithole SHIELD could find, isn’t it.”
“Yeah, it is.”
Sam turned back and muttered something to Bucky, Steve and Natasha looked inquisitively at each other and at Sam and Bucky.
“What’s that about?” Steve asked Natasha
“Not a clue.”
“Where’s the hotel?”
“Up the seediest back alley SHIELD could find, probably.”
Steve nodded in agreement.
“Hey Sam, where’s this hotel?”
“Am, it should be up the alley that says, zadní ulička č. 3.”
“You’re Czech is coming on well.” Bucky observed.
The four had left the fields behind and were now walking on paved paths. Steve and Natasha were looking at every sign, checking for zadní ulička č. 3. Sam and Bucky started arguing about the name of the hotel.
“Found it!” The soldier was triumphant.
“Steve that says přední ulička č. 3. Go down it and to your left you should see a sign saying zadní ulička č. 3.” Bucky corrected.
The soldier’s cheek reddened slightly. The four were dressed incognito mode. Leather jackets and jeans. Natasha went down the alley first, where a dirty man tried to grab her.
Tried.
Natasha caught his arm and twisted it behind his back. He spat back in her face
“Ďábelská fena”
She broke his arm, the pain caused him to black out. Sam, Bucky and Steve stepped over the rumpled man. Sam inhaled sharply.
“What?” Steve asked.
“She’s strong. I’ve been trying to ignore him for nearly a month on my way to work. I wouldn’t get into a fight with him.” Sam responded.
“You should have seen what she did to the alien thing we had to fight the other day.” Steve stated
“SHIELD told us about that actually.”
“Fucking terrifying.” Bucky chimed in.
Natasha looked at them.
“I can hear you. Also we’re here.”
A neon sign saying hotel was blazing from the window.
Sam got a receipt out of his pocket, examining it he walked into the lobby.
Natasha was right; it was the seediest, dirtiest hotel SHIELD could find.
Bucky and Sam went up to the attendant and talked to her in Czech.
The woman asked
“Zbraně?”
Natasha addressed the woman directly in perfect Czech
“Ne, nepotřebujeme zbraně, Maria. Děláš.”
Maria went pale.
“I cannot call the police Ms. Romanova, you know that.” Perfect English.
“Clever Maria, hiding your bilingual manner. But I can assure you the gun under the counter will come in useful by this evening. Remember that.”
Maria nodded. Steve wanted to hit himself, he hadn’t even noticed the gun under the counter. She handed two room passes to Sam.
“V nejvyšším patře jsou pokoje 73 a 75. 75 je pohled na ulici.” She dropped her voice to a whisper. “Natalia Alianova Romanova, beware, there are people here that beat men like your friends to death. You’ll be safe, your friends not so much.” Natasha nodded and started up the stairs.
The three others were frightened by Maria’s statement and Natasha’s nod. They waited until they were at the floor outside their rooms.
“Nat, what the hell?” Bucky asked.
“Maria knew me from my assassin spy days. Good friend. She is right, the three of you are not safe. I am because of my notorious reputation.” “Natasha, I have a metal arm.”
“That would get a good bit in scrap metal sales.”
“Nat, I have super-soldier blood in my veins.”
“Steve, they would kill you with as many stab wounds as possible and pour your blood into jars to be sold as drugs.”
“Tasha, I have nothing.”
“Sam, your wings are worth their weight in gold.”
“Jesus fucking Christ Nat, what are these people like?”
“A mix of Rumlow and me.”
The three went pale.
Sam handed Steve a key for their room. He opened it and Bucky did the same across the hall. Natasha looked at them.
“You have one hour.”
They went into their respective rooms. A double shout was heard across the room.
“FUCK!”
Natasha and Steve smiled, even in dire moments Sam and Bucky lightened the mood. They turned into their own room, where there was a distinct lack of furniture; a very small double bed and bathroom with a rail for hanging clothes.
Steve looked at Natasha.
“I’ll sleep on the floor.”
“No, you won’t, there is no heating. It’s cold enough in the bed, you will actually die if you sleep on the floor.” “Wouldn’t you feel uncomfortable-“
“No, would you?”
“No.” Steve had to admire her audacity and boldness. She didn’t care that they had to share the same bed for three days. Natasha opened the gear bag getting out toiletries and one spare change of clothes.
There was other stuff in the bag but it was unnecessary.
“Do you want to freshen up or anything? We have incognito work to do. Sam and Bucky have to do some ‘neighbourhood scouting’”
“Yeah I will, do we need to change our clothes?”
The pair were currently wearing ‘semi’ uniform. Tight clothes. No denim and boots.
Steve and Natasha went into the bathroom. They had forgotten toothbrushes so the just used their fingers.
“We probably shouldn’t, this is fairly incognito.”
Steve nodded. They both knew where they were going. Straight to the seedy computer café on the corner.
Steve turned to face Natasha
“Should we have a cover? If anyone asks us anything?”
Natasha thought for a minute.
“What did we do in DC?”
“Well, am, you told me to kiss you and that was a distraction.” Steve’s cheeks went pink. He was obviously thinking about the kiss. Natasha grinned.
“Come on soldier, I think Bucky and Steve are after murdering one another.”
They went across the hall and knocked on the door.
Sam opened the door.
“THERE IS ONE BED AND THE FLOOR IS COLDER THAN THE FUCKING ARTIC!” Sam shook his head.
“Welcome to a freezing version of hell. Bucky is reaching peak volume levels, is there a volume button on him?”
Natasha and Steve laughed.
“Are you ready for neighbourhood scouting?”
“Yes.”
“Be careful boys. Steve is safe with me.”
“I bet he is.”
Bucky and Sam locked the door after him and Steve checked the lock of his and Nat’s door. They began the steep descent down the stairs.
Natasha turned rigid once they reached the lobby.
Steve, Sam and Bucky saw her face.
Hell would be a sauna compared to the red hot fury on her face.
“Steve, we’ve got some work to do.”

CHAPTER 1 | CHAPTER 2 | CHAPTER 3 | CHAPTER 4
********************************************************************************
Natasha and Steve woke up to the alarm at 0330 hours, their hands still entwined. Their previous exchanges that night still hung in the air, unspoken. Steve’s hair was mussed up as it always was in the morning, Natasha’s was nearly the same as it always was. Perfectly curled. They went to the bathroom, brushing their teeth and showering, separately. Natasha went first, while Steve brushed his teeth and splashed water on his face. Natasha came out of the shower and Steve went in, while Natasha brushed her own teeth and dried herself off. They went to the kitchen preparing a small breakfast and ate it at the counter when Maria Hill appeared on the screen, giving them a quick explanation of where they were going first. They were to arrive in Prague and there they would meet Sergeant Barnes and Sam Wilson. The pair would escort them to their hotel. Steve and Natasha would be in one room and Wilson and Barnes would be in the other room across the hall.
“Understood?”
“Yes, ma’am”
The line clicked off.
“We better be going.” Natasha said “We’ll get Bruce to clean up the breakfast.”
“Good idea.”
The pair quickly went over to Bruce and Thor’s house, knocking on the door. Bruce opened it.
“Hey Bruce, we’re leaving now, so will you two go over now?” Natasha asked him.
“Sure, sure, sure. THOR!” He called back into the living room.
“Who summons me?” Thor inquired walking into the foyer.
“We’re going over to Steve and Nat’s house now.” Bruce quickly explained.
Thor nodded and went back into the living room. Presumably to get the bags.
“Here is the key. We have to go.” Steve said. Steve and Natasha turned around in the direction of their garage. They were already dressed in their Black Widow and Captain America suits. The pair walked to the garage and jumped onto their motorbikes.
“Race you to headquarters.” Natasha called back to the soldier, who was after kicking up his kickstand and was grinning with the prospect of challenge. They raced out of the complex and onto the main road, weaving in and out of traffic. Natasha kept a steady lead but Steve was catching up quickly, soon the pair were neck and neck and pulling into the headquarters.
Maria came out to greet them and handed them their files and visas, before ushering them onto the plane while some interns took their motorbikes. The plane was simple, a cargo plane, perfect for skydiving were the unspoken words between the captain and assassin. They sat together on a bench. They were the only people on the plane besides the pilot at the front, separated by a thick steel wall.
“So, drug cartel, mercenaries, crime wave?” Natasha said opening the file.
“Try all three.” Steve replied.
“Oh God, it’s completely underground, in some cases literally.”
“We’ll have to flush them out of hiding, but the file clearly states- no going undercover.”
“We’ll figure something out, we always do. Do you know how long Bucky and Sam have been in Prague?”
“I didn’t even know they were there. To be honest, it’s a wonder they haven’t killed each other.”
“Sam probably stuck fridge magnets to poor Bucky’s arm.” They grinned.
“Nat, how long is this flight?”
“Nine hours, thirty-four minutes. Why?”
“I was just wondering how long we’d be here.” Steve answered.
“Oh, OK”
“Nat?”
“Yeah?”
“Don’t get hurt.”
“I won’t you’re not allowed to get hurt wither, Steve.” “I won’t, as long as we protect each other we’ll be fine.” “Agreed, Wilson and Barnes will look after each other as well.”
“They try to kill each other, every day.”
“Check this out.”
It was a file, marked BERLIN.
Inside was the classified mission SHIELD had sent Bucky and Sam on a month ago. According to it, they had worked together to take out a lead cartel boss. Natasha and Steve were impressed and looked at the file photo. There was a magnet on Bucky’s arm. Another on Sam’s wing. They laughed.
“We should probably get some rest for Prague.” Steve suggested.
“You’re probably right.” Natasha agreed. Putting her head on his shoulder. Steve leaned his head onto Natasha’s and they slept until a half an hour before Prague.
They woke up to an alarm on of them had set eight hours previous.
“Are you ready?” Natasha looked at Steve
“Sure am. Got the bag?”
“Yes. Barnes and Wilson are probably waiting for us.”
“Dramatic entrance?”
“I’m tempted, but would that draw unwanted attention our way.”
“You’re right. Will we ask the pilot if we will touch down or skydive?”
“I’d love to jump out anyway.”
They made their way to the cockpit where there was no pilot. Stark industries strikes again.
They went back to the back where an announcement was playing over the speakers.
“Please jump now, please jump now, please jump now…”
They went over to the skydive equipment area, where there was only one left.
“Here Nat, you take it, I don’t need one anyway.”
“I don’t need it, you do, I’ve jumped off higher than this.”
“Nat, if you won’t take it – I have an idea.”
“What is it?”
“I’ll put it on and hold you and we’ll jump out like that.” “Better than nothing.” Natasha agreed
Steve slung the pack over his shoulders, handing his shield to Natasha who placed it over her own shoulders. The diving platform had opened so Steve picked Natasha up and walked over to the opening, they peered over into the clouds.
“Somewhere down there Bucky and Sam are waiting, let’s put them out of their misery.” Natasha said. Steve nodded.
Taking a few steps backward, Steve prepared for a running jump.
“You’re Ok with this, aren’t you?”
“Hell yes, come on.”
Steve ran and jumped off the cargo plane. They were flying through the clouds. Natasha shouted up at Steve.
“I don’t think we’re landing at an airport somehow.”
“Why?”
“I see a lot of green fields and there are two dark specks in one of them.”
“That’s our stop then. Can you pull the string, I don’t want to drop you.”
Natasha nodded and tugged at the sting. They were immediately brought up in the wind draft and started floating down. Soon enough they could make out the conversation between the pair on the ground.
“Any minute now they’ll come sweeping in like angels.” Sam said
“Sam, they are sweeping in like angels look at the sky.”
“That’s only one of them. Wait, we took the other one didn’t we.”
Up in the sky, Natasha grinned at Steve.
“Dramatic entrance?”
“Hell yes.”
Sam and Bucky were still arguing when a parachute pack fell onto the ground metres away from them.
“What?” They looked at the sky and saw two separate specks free – falling toward them. They were staring wide-eyed as the captain and assassin landed in the field and cockily grinned at them.
“Hope we didn’t keep you waiting.” Natasha spoke first.
“That would be a pity.” Steve added.
Sam and Bucky took one look at them, glanced at each other and decided to wipe those cocky grins off their faces. Sam dived for Steve and Bucky went for Natasha. The elite pair had seen this coming and simply side-stepped them.
“You missed.” Natasha said. Bucky and Sam were lying in the field wondering what had just happened them.
“Come on, we have to get to the hotel.” Steve said, offering Natasha his arm. She took it graciously.
“Come on, guys we don’t know where we’re going.” They called back.
Sam had managed to get his shoe stuck in the mud and Bucky was helping him pull it out. They got it and were thrown backwards by momentum. Grumbling Bucky handed Sam his shoe. They led Natasha and Steve to a car they had parked next to a ditch. They told Steve and Nat to sit in the back while they took the front. Sam appeared to be the designated driver. Bucky was arguing with Sam in the front.
“You do know where the hotel is?”
“Of course I do.”
“And you won’t get lost, like last time.”
“THIS ISN’T LAST TIME BUCKY, I WON’T GET LOST.”
Steve and Natasha glanced at each other in the back. The ‘last time’ sounded interesting to say the least.
“And anyway why don’t you know where the hotel is?”
“I do, I was just making sure you knew.”
Something was happening outside the window. A motorcycle kept pulling up next to them at red lights, Natasha and Steve focused on the passenger. They appeared to be holding some sort of spherical shaped thing. Natasha realized what it was a fraction before Steve.
“Sam, floor it and whatever you do, don’t go near a large public area.” She said quietly.
Sam and Bucky glanced at the motorbike, glanced at each other and nodded. Bucky pulled a pistol out of seemingly nowhere and Sam roared the engine to life, slamming the pedals and flooring it. Bucky kept the pistol low, not letting the pair on the bike see it. They kept pace with the car.
Soon they were out on a flat, empty stretch of road surrounded by fields. Sam clobbered the brakes, bringing the car to a sudden halt. The motorcycle flew past them. They realized their mistake quickly and the passenger hurled the grenade at four. Bucky opened the door and he and Sam went through it, crouching behind the car. Steve and Natasha did the same. The four jumped into a field as a world of flame and flying debris rained around them.

***************************************
“What do you want from me?” Stark asked the masked figure in front of him. “Do you want money? I can get you money.”
“The masked figure shook their head. It was creepy. A voice, low, wasn’t coming from them. No, it was coming from behind him.
“Mr. Stark, what a pleasure for you to be here.” A feminine voice crooned.
“Pleasures all mine ma’am”
“Oh, I’m not a woman.”
“Excuse me sir, I was thrown off by the voice.”
“I am not male either!”
“Oh great, I’ve been abducted by aliens. Again.”
“I am not an alien!”
“WELL THEN WHAT ARE YOU”
“I am from the planet Xenthereelm.” He/she/it crooned.
“Yep, aliens.”
“I have surpassed all life forms!” It shouted.
“Look, alien-surpassed-thing, what do you want.”
“I don’t want anything!”
“THEN LET ME GO!”
“Not that simple, Stark, what I want is your friends’ demise and you’re going to do it.”
“Why- why would I do anything for you” He spat
The alien laughed “Because, if you don’t, all your friends die.”
A sudden whoosh of air and an opening hatch came from the corner of the room and Natasha came in
“Do you know how many times we’ve heard that? Time to die Avengers! I’ll kill everyone you hold dear! I’ll kill all your friends! For God’s sake, you know what Zephyrine I’m sick of it.”
A flash of lightening and Thor was there getting Stark out of his chains. “Is thou alright?”
“Yeah, I just want to know what Tasha means.”
Steve apparently already knew, it must be from previous mission of theirs. Clint and Bruce were shooting down and/or smashing the foot soldiers that emerged from the walls. Tony, once he was free, used his tech that he had morphed into a watch to get his iron man suit.
The ensuing battle was one that would be bloody for the enemies, because the Avengers know what they were doing. Steve and Natasha aimed their weapons at Zephyrine, while the four others held off the foot soldiers.
It was the water fight except more extreme and all six of them were working together. Clint was after piercing an arrow through the neck of a foot soldier. Thor brought a massive strike of lightening down on anything in his path. Stark shot down any that got too close the Steve and Nat. Bruce was after turning to the Hulk and was smashing everything in his eyesight. Zephyrine was holding out surprisingly well against the elite pair. Natasha was now engaged in hand to hand combat with it and Steve was destroying anything that came near either of them with his shield. Natasha had found the weak spots on the alien and was mainly focusing her attack on them. Out of the alien several poisonous gases came which Stark contained with some form of gas as well. Steve was mainly focusing on the physical aspects of what came out of it. Such as bone that Natasha had broken. The blood was liquid fire. Thor and Clint contained that and Hulk after coming back to Bruce was at the control panel trying to figure it out. A final screech emerged from the alien and Natasha fell to the floor along with it. Steve caught her and checked her pulse.
“She’s alive.” The unspoken words of Thank God, were not uttered.
The fellow Avengers nodded. Tony looked at the heap of flesh and bone on the ground.
“What did she do to it? FRIDAY run some tests.”
“There appears to be multiple bone fractures, stab wounds, strangulation and gashes.”
“Holy Jesus” muttered Clint. “Bruce did you figure out how to use the control panel?”
“Yes, Tony where will we drop off.”
“Just land in the complex, SHIELD will understand.”
In Steve’s arms Natasha started coughing.
“Did we win?”
“You tore it apart.” Clint explained.
“Good.” She replied
“Why is that so good?” Tony said.
“She was an experiment, in the red room, she-she was in my class. One day they called her out, never seen again.”
“How did you know it was her?” Bruce asked.
“Did you see her neck? There was a mark on it. All red room experiments are giving a mark with an implant. I scanned it and found got the date, the name, Zephyrine. That’s why she screamed, she fought to remember. She couldn’t, she-she tried to kill me. So I killed her.”
“Well, you did a good job of that.” Thor said gesturing at the heap on the floor.
“She was always ruthless, she murdered another girl.”
Natasha was still in Steve’s arms. He said to Tony
“Get FRIDAY to give Nat a scan to make sure she wasn’t subject to any gases or nonsense.” “Yes sir.”
“No poisonous gases were inhaled and no injuries were sustained. She is in peak condition.”
“Thank God.” Steve muttered, under his breath.
“How?” Clint said, mystified.
“Training.” Came the reply.
“Well, are we back yet?” Thor, using of colloquialism was improving.
“Brace yourself for a bumpy landing.” Bruce called back.
There were no seats, so the Avengers had to crouch. Natasha jumped out of Steve’s arms and grabbed onto the side of the table in the centre of the room. The others copied her. The ship tilted downwards. Their grip only came tighter. The masked figure that had disappeared when the Avengers came re-emerged to be shot down by a pulsar blast. The mask fell off revealing nothing. A mound of dust. That was it.
The ship went hard into the lawn sending Bruce forward with momentum, but he grabbed the control panel. The sudden stop threw them back with momentum sending Bruce flying into the back and landing on poor Thor.
“Banner, you have put on some weight.” He grunted.
“Sorry.” He said in reply.
Tony started laughing. Natasha grinned along with Steve at the sight of Bruce trying to get off Thor. Clint who had managed to regain some composure turned to them
“Here comes Fury, he has bunny slippers.”
“Bunny slippers?” Tony said incredulously. “Bruce can you open the door?”
“I can try.”
He hobbled over to the control panel and pushed some buttons. Steve barely had time to raise his shield above his head before hot lava spewed from the ceiling. Natasha rolled behind the table
“Wrong button!”
“Sorry! I think I got it!”
The Avengers braced themselves. Tony, braced himself by jumping into Clint’s arms.
“What the **** STARK!”
Steve and Natasha started laughing and the door came open with a whoosh.
“Will someone explain to me why I had to get up at half eleven to address the Avengers in a spaceship.” Fury said as soon as the six came off the ship.
“Well, Tony was kidnapped by this alien, that wasn’t an alien, that was actually an old enemy of Tasha and Tasha ripped her/it apart. Literally.” Clint explained.
Fury was unimpressed.
“It was also an experiment from the red room.” Natasha chimed in.
“Fine, I’ll get some agents to check it out, but you, all of you, get some sleep.”
The avengers went off to their respective houses.
Steve turned to Natasha when they entered the foyer.
“Did Tony have any dinner?”
“No” She grinned.
“You know that mark on her neck? Was that given to all of you in the Red Room?”
“No just the experiments, when they wanted to track me on missions they went on the coms.”
“Oh. I was wondering. Have we packed everything we need for tomorrow?”
“Yeah, I checked just before fake Tony picked us up.”
“I wonder who that was.”
“So do I. Let’s sleep, we’ll need to have energy for tomorrow.”
They went down the hallway and into the spare room, where there they stored their suits. There was a large bed in the centre of the room, where they slept before a mission.
They got changed into loose pyjamas. For Nat that meant a loose pants and t-shirt, for Steve the same.
They lay on separate sides of the bed, facing each other.
Steve spoke breaking the silence.
“When you fell and I caught you, I thought we had lost you.”
“I couldn’t leave you alone.”
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For being there.”
“I always will, Steve, I promise.”
Natasha held Steve’s hand under the blanket and they went to sleep like that, holding each other’s hand.

CHAPTER 3
***************************
“AGHHHHHH!” Clint’s voice screamed when a water balloon hit him in the back. Tony didn’t have time to the duck when another balloon nailed him in the back as well. A second scream sounded.
It was very high pitched
The drenched pair looked over to the direction the unholy rain of balloons were coming and saw the soldier and spy laughing and aiming a pair of massive guns filled with water at them.
Tony and Steve looked at each other and nodded.
They dived behind the fence with Clint dragging the hose behind them.
“You did turn it on at the tap didn’t you?” Tony asked
“Shit”
The balloons were still raining down at them as Clint dived across the lawn to the tap.
He missed.
He barely had time to curl up into a ball before being pelted by more balloons
“For God’s sake, Barton” Tony shouted as he hurtled past him to the tap and turned it on.
“Where are all the balloons coming from?” Clint asked when they were aiming the hose at the opposite pair.
“Hell, if I know.”
“I thought we had water guns as well.”
“We do.”
“WELL THEN, where are they?”
“HERE”
Tony tossed two guns to the archer which he held with expertise.
“You keep them down with the hose, I’ll nail them with these.”
Clint vaulted over the fence and across the lawn to an identical wall where Natasha and Steve were crouching with their guns in their hands
“Hello.” Clint said and pointed the guns at the pair. Natasha back flipped and landed on her feet aiming her own gun at Clint. Steve grabbed his own gun at the distant Tony.
They simultaneously shouted
“FIRE!” and if Clint and Tony thought they worked well together, Natasha and Steve were a whole other level. They communicated without speaking and had the archer and billionaire cowering behind a wall in minutes. Much to Steve and Natasha’s dismay Thor and Bruce joined the fight. The house sitters had managed to find two hoses and nail Natasha and Steve in the heads where they fell and Tony and Clint managed to regain their balance enough to get their hose and gun to start hitting the God and scientist. Natasha and Steve recovered quickly and soon the three pairs had each other evenly matched. Steve and Natasha had a plan for this however. They threw their guns onto the flat roof and Natasha and Steve grabbed the gutter and heaved themselves up. For a bit extra they rolled forward to the guns grabbing them and flipped forward and jumped off the roof hitting everyone in the heads with the guns and each threw a balloon at the pair and completely destroyed them. They landed together in a crouch, standing and cockily grinned. Tony and Clint groaned with Thor and Bruce.
“The loser buys dinner.” Natasha began
“And we have four paying” Steve continued
“We’ll eat like kings.” The pair high-fived and turned back to the house.
“Oh and by the way, we’re eating at the shawarma place” Natasha called back. The six of them were completely drenched. Natasha and Steve went back to the house, showered, finished packing and put on casual clothing.
“Did you see the looks on their faces when we jumped off the roof?” Steve laughed with Natasha over a cup of tea
“When I back flipped to get the gun and Clint’s eyes went wide.” Natasha chortled. The water fight had been enjoyable, made sweeter by victory.
A jeep beeped outside the house, startling them. Before righting themselves. Checked the security and the bag for their keys, they joined the four others in Tony’s spacious jeep.
It was a seven-seater.
“No, it’s not!” An outraged Tony had insisted. “It’s a spacious jeep, specifically tailored to the amount of people generally using it!”
Bruce then snorted. Followed by a raucous laugh by Thor. He seemed very giddy that night. Steve, Natasha and Clint had grinned. Clint turned to Natasha and began talking to her about… well…
“So?” Clint asked
“So what?” Natasha was confused.
“Have you gotten your mission details?”
“Uhh yeah. I was actually in the middle of packing when we joined the water fight.”
“And handed our asses to us.”
A chuckle from Natasha “It was hilarious, your face, when I back flipped to the gun.”
“You caught me by surprise!”
“Too easy, Barton, too easy.”
“For God’s sake, the two of you are SHIELD’s most elite duo, everyone can see that.”
“We’re Avengers, we’re all elite”
“Are we?”
“Of course, why else would you be chosen? Barton, you’re the reason I’m here.”
“Oh yeah! It must have been my power of seduction and general appeal that made you join!”
“Oh my God, keep telling yourself that.”
“Too far?”
“Definitely”
Tony then pulled up to the Shawarma restaurant. “We have arrived!”
“Perfect.” Clint said “I’m starved, apparently being beaten THAT badly in a water fight makes you hungry.”
Steve and Natasha laughed.
Thor, Bruce, Tony and Clint scrambled out of the car.
Further proving Clint’s last statement.
Steve got out of the car and offered Natasha his hand to help her down.
“Thanks” said Natasha after getting down from the 7-seater.
“No problem” The soldier replied.
They entered the restaurant and quickly got a table with six seats. They sat down and let Tony order.
“This is the best shawarma restaurant in all New York.” He said proudly. “I think we deserve this after being defeated-“A quick glare at the soldier and agent “Oh well. What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.”
“That’s very true.” A deep male voice sounded from the corner of the restaurant. Tony started in surprise and sat down as Nick Fury made his way to their table wearing his trademark coat and eyepatch.
“Sir.” All the Avengers said respectfully.
“Pleasure to see all of you having fun, but don’t you have more pressing matters than dinner?” He asked
“A rebellious group activity before a mission boosts morale.” Natasha replied.
“Well then,” Fury said “Enjoy your dinner.”
Fury then left.
“Does he enjoy giving me heart attacks?” Tony questioned as soon as Fury left.
“Probably.” Clint replied.
“A large order of shawarma for Anthony Starkels.” A reedy voice poured over the intercom. The five superheroes looked at Stark.
“Starkels?” Bruce inquired, grinning.
“Why must a valiant warrior such as thou, pretend to be a different person, Stark?” Thor questioned, confused.
“The paps haven’t caught me here yet.” Tony said in defence.
“Tony, we all know why you brought is in a family carrier.” Natasha put in.
“I must agree with Nat.” Steve, surprisingly, agreed.
“I don’t see why trying to keep myself unseen for some time is such a crime.” Tony said.
The team ate in silence and at the end of the meal, both Steve and Natasha made excuses to go to the bathroom.
“I hacked into Starks credit card purchases and there is no people carrier purchase. Ever.” Natasha looked at Steve
“Even Stark wouldn’t go around $115,000 in his back pocket”
“Steve, that isn’t Stark. Stark can’t go anywhere without causing a huge ruckus. The idiot’s been kidnapped. Get the real Avengers on the coms.”
“Bruce, Clint, Thor, Tony has been kidnapped. The man sitting at the table isn’t Stark and we think Fury knows something, Nat’s trying to get through to him right now. Meet us out back in two minutes. Make Fake Tony leave, quietly.”
“I got him, he said he doesn’t have a clue where Stark is and he always checks up on us when we go anywhere, the six of us.”
“Do you believe him?”
“Yes, Fury might be a scheming bitch at times, but he doesn’t lie about our safety.”
“Sounds true enough.”
“We got him out,” Clint suddenly popped up with Bruce and Thor. “It was surprisingly easy.”
Natasha made the sign to shut the hell up there is someone here. The Avengers made casually defensive positions and a small sphere rolled onto the floor.
“Shit.” Natasha said grabbing a bowl and using that to cover up the smoke that came out of it. “Whoever’s here wants us gone. Get your gear.”
“It’s back at the complex.” Clint said, confused.
“No, why do you think Fury always checks up on us? He hides spare gear and our weapons around here-“ Natasha swiftly kicked the tiles behind a table, an opening revealed an umbrella, Black Widow’s weapons and cat suit, Cap’s suit and shield and Clint’s bow and suit.
They got dressed quickly and Natasha turned to them and said.
 “Let’s get that idiot back.”

Can I talk about this for a second?
Racial prejudice and racial stereotyping is a horrific abuse of human rights, i know that, but there is also social prejudice and stereotyping. In my search engine I used social for it to be interpreted as social media or social values. The auto-correct to racial from social showed me that society thinks prejudice can only be towards another race because, if we are all the one race, how can we be different? We have to understand we are all the one race, we are all human, there should be no social
excuse me google
RACIAL prejudice. This is a prejudice/stereotype in itself. Difference is in who is in control. There is no stereotype of anything. I, myself am an Irish, white, straight, teen. This means i make ‘normal’ standards. I am not a slut and no one in my class is. The UNCRC still applies to me as well as the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS. It’s important that we respect people, but I am not naive enough to think that this will never not be there. Social prejudice is bullying, is thinking something weird.
I always say that there is nothing that is weird, just something we aren’t used of.

CHAPTER 1
Chapter 2
“Why weren’t we notified by the security?” Nick Fury’s voice sounded almost threatening as it was directed to Tony Stark.
“Sir, it had a 90% success rate run testing, we were testing it in Steve and Tasha’s house because we knew they were best equipped to handle in break-ins.”
Fury sat down on the large, leather chair, his coat swirling around him. Thor, Clint and Bruce had been uncharacteristically quiet since the meeting had begun. Natasha and Steve had given a full report as to what happened and who the men were. Fury had decided that Sharon Carter would question the men separately tomorrow.
Natasha had stated that when they were on their mission and their house was broken into, how would SHIELD deal with it?
Fury, however, had a solution.
“Thor and Banner shall housesit.” This had sparked outrage, between Tony and Clint, claiming they were sick of being treated as ‘weak’ Avengers. “ENOUGH” Fury shouted and they immediately quietened.
“Stark, Barton, I have a mission for you two as well as Rogers and Romanoff. Separate missions of course.”
“Yes, sir.” They said simultaneously
“Do thou, Fury, believe I am not equipped to combat large threats to Midgard?” Thor was attempting a regal voice, trying to intimidate Fury.
It didn’t work.
“Thor, you are being trusted with a prototype, as of Stark industries. Banner and you will look after this house and run test. It might not have the bloody glory as the story of Jötunheimr or even New Mexico, But important, none the less.”
Thor, defeated sat down. Bruce nodded.
Fury continued “If there are any large-scale threats to earth while any of you are gone, you will be called back immediately.”
“Stark, Barton, I would like to speak with you about your mission first. The rest of you wait outside. Romanoff, Rogers, Give Thor and Banner a layout of your house.”
The four excused Avengers trooped outside to discuss the house and its properties.
“Remember to turn on the dishwasher at seven o’ clock. Keep the house clean. Don’t go through any personal possessions.” Natasha and Steve explained. “If something looks like it is about to explode, don’t hit it with Mjölnir that will probably make it worse, Thor.”
Thor made a show of looking innocent much to the trio’s amusement.
Clint and Tony came out debating how they were going to get vibranium from Wakanda to New York. In four nights.
“Oh yeah, Tasha, Steve, Fury wants you.” Clint said, almost as an afterthought, before running after Tony. Thor laughd “The man of iron and the mighty archer appear to argue the merits of air transportation.”
Bruce sighed “Don’t be gone for more than a week, or I might go Hulk on him.” By this time both Steve and Natasha were grinning.
“Captain Rogers, agent Romanoff, I don’t have all day.” A dry voice came from inside the office.
The smiles quickly faded, replaced by sombre attitudes and straight backs.
They entered the room and Fury looked at them. “Eastern Europe.” He said. “You are to go from Budapest to Prague, where you will get a flight to Moscow. You leave at 0500 hours tomorrow from here. This is your mission file.” He handed Natasha an assuming brown file with paper sticking out of it. The pair nodded. “Yes, sir.”
“You have two weeks.”
“Yes, sir.”
They exited the room. “Bring your meditation gear, Bruce, we’ll be gone two weeks” Steve laughed with Natasha.
“The keys will be under the mat tomorrow at 5AM, alright?” Natasha said.
Steve and Natasha walked to the car which they had left in the garage, the back was smeared with blood.
“I’ll ask Thor to clean it.” Steve suggested
“Has he ever held a mop in his life?” Natasha chuckled
“It is I, son of Odin, and I have been humbled by the mortal experience of cleaning!” Steve imitated, before they both collapsed from laughter.
About half an hour later after a lively debate over who would set the house on fire first, they pulled into the circle of houses, which was a complex of three houses and a training area. Each house resided two avengers. Steve and Natasha shared one, Clint and Tony claimed the next one and Thor and Bruce took the last one. Pulling into the driveway, Steve and Natasha noticed Tony and Clint stuffing their worldly possessions into sports bags.
Thor and Bruce drove into their driveway in a white pick-up truck.
“Well, at least it won’t be boring while we’re gone.” Natasha observed.
“I think I saw Bruce put the fire department on speed-dial, along with the military.”
“Should we be relieved or concerned?”
“Probably both”
“Come on, we better go in and pack.”
“I’ll make coffee.”
“Thanks.”
Natasha and Steve had a pact for when they were going on a mission; One packed for both ad the other made coffee and/or lunch. It was Natasha’s turn to pack.
Steve walked into the kitchen and made the coffee. He went into his bedroom where Natasha was stuffing three outfits and a spare uniform into an overnight bag.
“Hey”
“Please tell me you made it strong”
A soft laugh “Yeah, I did. Why?”
“I can hear Clint and Tony having a water fight.”
“Again?”
“Yes.”
“I have an idea.”
“That’s bad.”
“Oh come on, you have the best aim of anyone I know.”
A grin of realization “What happened to those super-soakers?”
“The attic.”
“They won’t know what hit them.”
The pair laughed. While they seemed reserved and serious, Romanoff and Rogers were notorious pranksters in the complex.
Natasha went up to the attic to get the water guns and Steve filled several balloons with water. Their strategy was as follows:
They would sneak up behind Clint and Tony and fire water balloons at them.
When they were hit and in shock from the water, the guns would come out.
Natasha bounced down the stairs with two massive water guns and tossed the canisters for water at Steve, she then gathered the balloons from the draining board and in one swift motion placed them in a plastic basket.
“This is revenge for the makeup incident.”
Natasha roared with laughter as she remembered when Clint and Tony broke into the other houses in the middle of the night and did their makeup. Tony has a surprising talent for winged eyeliner.

Classified Mission: Eastern Europe. Romanogers fanfic
Chapter 1
“You’re up early.” Natasha said as Steve came into the main kitchen for breakfast. “Couldn’t sleep” He replied “How do you always get up this early?” Natasha looked up from the frying pan “In the Red Room we got about three hours sleep each night, we used to whisper across the room to each other wondering who would die next.” Steve raised his eyebrows in concern “Old habits are hard to break?” Steve had the same thoughts when he was in the army. They sat in silence for a few minutes as Natasha served up a fried egg and pancake. The silence was always companionable, there was never an awkward silence between them.
“Where do you think they will send us this time?” Steve spoke first.
“Couldn’t be much worse than Afghanistan.” Natasha offered
Steve grinned “Remember the time we were sent to Hong Kong to stop the multi-million dollar drug smuggling and I couldn’t figure out how to use the phones we were given.”
Natasha laughed “I had to give you a crash course on how to use it.”
“The time I forgot to put the phone on silent-“
“And blew our cover.”
“Thank God it wasn’t on full volume.”
“The security guards still heard it.”
“At least they didn’t go straight onto the coms.”
They laughed. A screen came in on the breakfast counter, Maria Hill looked at them through a camera inset on the screen, courtesy of Stark tech. Natasha and Steve straightened.
“I am sure you have been awaiting a mission for a while now, agent Romanoff and captain Rogers and you have one. Be at SHIELD headquarters in one hour.” And she was gone.
“We’ll leave in half an hour.” Steve said, “I’ll wash up, you use the bathroom first”
Natasha nodded, walking to the door of the kitchen.
“Give me ten minutes” Steve grabbed the plates and washed them quickly leaving them drip-dry on the draining board. He walked quickly into the garage to make sure the motorcycles had enough fuel and by the time he came back Natasha was in the kitchen dressed in a black leather jacket and leggings. She nodded at Steve “Eight and a half minutes” Steve laughed. “Give me seven then.” He went to the bathroom and looked at the mirror, he shaved two days ago so that was fine and he had gotten a haircut last week, he brushed his teeth and tugged a comb through his hair. He went into his bedroom and opened the wardrobe, he pulled out his brown leather jacket and a pair of denim jeans and put them on, he also had a white t-shirt. He then went back to the kitchen where Natasha had put away the dishes and brushed the floor “Eight minutes, Rogers” She said facing him. “I’ll speed up in future.” He smiled. “Come on then, I checked the traffic, we would want to be going.”
They raced each other to the garage where two motorcycles were kept for their use.
“I win!” Natasha said gleefully
“I’ll give you that one.” Steve said grinning back at her.
Green and blue eyes widened at the alarm sound.
“Did we trip something by accident?” Steve whispered to Natasha as she grabbed a knife from a worktable.
“We shouldn’t have.” She whispered back “Go around the side, I’ll go through the house. Rendezvous in the kitchen.”
Steve nodded, carefully opening the garage door and slipping outside after Natasha handing him another knife.
Natasha stealthily walked into the main foyer where the coast was clear, she whispered into her com “All clear in the foyer”
“Same here” came the reply
A massive bang came from the spare bedroom.
“The safe” Natasha groaned, “Steve, get to the spare bedroom.”
“30 seconds”
Natasha made her way carefully to the door of the bedroom. She could hear two voices inside.
“If we bring this back to boss, we’re set for life.”
Natasha made a mental checklist of all items stored in the safe, passports, coms, SHIELD papers. Nothing of real value, unless you were forging an identity.
A heavy breath sounded in Natasha’s ear and she turned to see Steve sweating behind her. “I’m going in, you stay here for backup.” Natasha stage-whispered. Steve nodded.
Natasha opened the door silently and saw the robbers in full light, they were wearing black caps, jumpers, track-suit pants’ and boots. They looked like they were carrying weapons. She looked back at Steve and held up a finger, 1 minute.
Natasha crept up silently behind the larger of the pair and kicked him in the back of the knee, while her fist connected in a hook to his side. The man grunted in pain and fell to the floor where Natasha got him in a choke lock, using the man as a platform for gathering momentum to kick the other guy in the face, he dropped a round object that Natasha realized was a grenade. Steve, apparently had noticed a second before her and had it covered with his shield, an explosion sounded inside the shield, echoed by the space confinement. Within the two seconds Steve had covered the blast Natasha had disabled the two men and pinned them to the ground. They were unconscious, for the moment being. Steve flipped them onto their backs to reveal their faces.
Natasha gasped.
“What is it?” Steve’s concerned voice asked
“They, they were from Moscow, when I was in the Red Room they would be outside every morning with Madame B. They’re meant to be dead, in an explosion.”
“Wow, I bet Nick Fury would enjoy this. We’ll take the car. Put them into the back.”
Natasha nodded in reply.
Ten minutes later they were waiting at a roundabout when one of the men came to. Steve was driving and Natasha was keeping an eye on them through the mirror.
“What are we doing here?” A thick, brutish voice asked. Natasha hit him in the head. Steve raised his eyebrows. Natasha shrugged “Cognitive Recalibration.”
Steve laughed

Ah I love this fic
You're Out of Your Mind- Romanogers
((Okay, so I had an anon prompt me with “You’re out of your mind.” Romanogers; Clintasha (friendship). I interpreted that as Romanogers with a side of Clintasha friendship, which is what I hope the anon wanted. It’s also really long. I started and couldn’t stop. To whoever requested this- I hope you enjoy it!))
There were a lot of ways someone could describe Natasha, if they were asked.
Tony would say that she was a fucking liar who was also way too quiet and enjoyed sneaking up on him so often that he’d started telling JARVIS to warn him when she was in a ten foot radius, though often times the AI seemed to ‘forget’ just to enjoy Tony’s girlish shouts each and every time she rounded a corner and surprised him.
Thor would proclaim her a valiant warrior, a force to be reckoned with, a fierce maiden worthy of a place in Asgard and Valhalla alike! He would also say that she was intelligent, and that she always seemed to remember the foods he liked the most, the stories he told her, the little things he mentioned every so often because he was still learning as much as he could about Midgard.
Steve would say that she was trustworthy and strong, a good person. He would blush a little, maybe, and say that she was a beautiful woman while he rubbed at the back of his neck. In the end, he’d shrug and say that she was his friend, and a really good friend at that.
Bruce wouldn’t say much, but he’d definitely make sure that whoever asked knew exactly how brave she was.
And then there was Clint. The archer would describe her as a cross between fucking terrifying and alarmingly cute, but he had all the bias of a proud older brother, so his opinion was kind of skewed. He would, however, freely admit that she was /determined/ and dangerous when it came to her enemies, stealthy and impossibly stubborn at the same time. Normally, he was the one person who knew Natasha the most, who knew her ins and outs, the things that made her happy, the things that really ticked her off and the things that would turn her into something resembling warm. Most of the time, he respected her as a partner, a friend, a similarly intelligent person—
“You’re out of your goddamn mind.”
